Bloody hell that was tough viewing!! That woman seemed to be having a really difficult time mentally. Hope my dh is not as irritating or aibu? He just seemed very controlling.

gallicgirl · 24/01/2011 22:19

The blonde woman and Wayne? I thought he was really supportive actually. I think she just couldn't cope mentally so he had to fight for her IYKWIM while she got on with having the baby. I'd rather have that than a guy who wrings his hands and says "oh does it hurt sweetie?"

saltnvinigarcrips · 24/01/2011 22:22

really? Supportive and condescending. I've told my dh i really don't want to babied. Sure i'll change my mind when i'm freaking out and crying though Hmm.

gallicgirl · 24/01/2011 22:30

Perhaps it's just the way their relationship is? He seemed a bit older than her so that might have something to do with it too.
I often think the midwives are incredibly condescending although I do wonder if some of it is knowing they're being filmed.

The MWs I've had contact with at hospital are mostly alright but annoying because they don't really talk to me or give me information. It's like pulling teeth.

RockLover · 24/01/2011 22:37

Hi all. I watched OBEM and I thought it was quite nice this week, the lady panicked a bit, but she got through it fine. I thought her hubby and sis were great with her, they obviously cared so much for her and knew exactly how to keep her going. I hope I can be that brave, because she was, even though I bet she didn't feel it.

DP knows that I don't like to be fussed over when I don't feel well, but he also knows that I need him near just because it makes me feel safer. Lets hope things go fairly smoothly :).

Have got period pain tonight again, but nothing substantial and no other symptoms at all. Just had a packet of plain crisps and contemplating having something else, but not sure what. I'm absolutely dreading going to bed as usual, I get a max of 2 hours sleep (sometimes only 1) between wees and it's really getting me down.

The thought of dragging myself out of bed at 7.20 to prepare DD's clothes and lunch before the school run is also not filling me with joy either lol, but it has to be done.

Come on baby, I need my body back! I am waddling around now due to a trapped nerve in my back and pubic bone pain, I look stupid!

Crystylline · 24/01/2011 22:43

might be a daft suggestion rock, but have you tried warm bath before bed? i put lavender oil in mine and also have a lavender spray for my pillow. It works a treat. of course, i do then get up about 3 hours later and then again after another 3 hours, but i'm at least feeling like i'm getting some quality sleep in the inbetweeny bits.

and I remember cupcakes posted about making a big duvet/pillow nest as well round your hips and bump - that might help too.

lots of hugs. I'm a monster when i'm sleep deprived, and it's taken me ages to find a way to get some proper sleep, so i totally sympathise.

scubamummy · 24/01/2011 22:44

Hi all, long time no chat. Sorry for the absence....

Just wanted to pop on to proudly announce the birth of Scubababy! She arrived at 8.33pm on 22nd Jan (at 39+1). She was born in the water after an intense 10 hour labour - my waters went at 10.30am, we went to the birth centre at 3.30pm, at 5.30pm I was checked and found to be 3cm dilated and by 8pm I was pushing!! So I went from 3-10cm in 2.5 hours! I didn't even have time to think about gas and air it all went so quickly. And I wasn't even 100% convinced that I was in labour until I felt her head coming out!

She's 6lb 13oz of total scrumptiousness. We're spending a lot of time slowly getting used to breastfeeding - it's tough (my poor nipples!) but we're going to persevere. I had a small 2nd deg tear from pushing and have a couple of stitches which are a bit sore but ok. TMI alert...I just had my first poo Blush and FWIW it was fine - I made sure that I necked a lot of lactulose yesterday and today, seems to have done the trick.

Massive congratulations to those that have graduated, you're all amazing for giving birth! And sending strong labour vibes to those that are still waiting - you'll meet your little ones before you know it, it's really not long now. I hope that you have a fast, easy and comfortable birth.

And now I don't have gestational diabetes anymore I'm enjoying pizza, beer (shh), brownies and blue cheese! Heaven. Grin

RobynLou · 24/01/2011 22:45

hello...

new to the thread, I was due today - DC2, DD is 3.5.

DD was induced so I'm hoping to avoid that this time!

saltnvinigarcrips · 24/01/2011 22:55

Great news scubabmummy. Big congratulations Grin Sounds like you had a really positive experience, hopefully mine will be as quick and how great that you weren't even sure you were in labour till you had to push.

Fuzzywood · 24/01/2011 23:20

Congrats Scubamummy well done you.
Welcome Robynlou you join a very impatient waiting room Grin these babies don't seem to be playing ball. Do you know whether it's a boy or girl?
Going to try and get some sleep now but really uncomfortable so not fancying my chances, DH has bailed to the spare room to get away from the fidgeting.
Oh and happy birthday for tomorrow LadyB hope Kali isn't too snotty for long.

CupcakesHay · 24/01/2011 23:26

scuba - lovely! And sorry for forgetting about you! That's great news though! really plesed and pleased the tear isn't hurting too much! Not sure i like the sound of a 10 hour labour. ugh! And i have to say Envy about the blue cheese Wink

And pleased you found us robyn - like i said all welcome! Do you know what you are having? We talk lots about chocolate but ironing "flattening of clothes" talk is not allowed.

And the rest of you are MAD watching OBEM - pub quizzes are much better fun for a monday night - even if i do get ribbed by everyone saying "hopeully see you next week" - wink wink.

I'm hopping on gallic's bandwagon - and for once haven't taken notes....

I had period like pains tongiht - but only one more day to hang on til DH gets here.... well - day and a half, as he arrives at 13.06 - cunningly enough at Plymouth station, in case i go into labour - the hospital's down te road Smile

Pedicure and eyelash tint tomorrow! Hurrah! Although i may have to attempt to shave a bit of my legs for the poor girl - they're not too bad - but a bit kind of raspy, IYSWIM.

And good idea - umm... whoever came up with the bath before bedtime for rock on the sleeping front. Might help relax you.

And luckily all my moscow friends are accounted for. PHEW.

Right - night night for me. I'll check in tomorrow. DYING to hear from AmI!

CupcakesHay · 24/01/2011 23:28

x-post with fuzzy

And there's NO WAY i'm letting DH sleep in the spare room - me and parents were saying how my jammy darling husband missed out on me being ill and all the crap i've had - and now i'm blooming and "sprightly" and here just get the good bits of me! Grin

Although - if he doesn't bring the donuts and the chocolates I might kill him Angry

Ryuk · 25/01/2011 02:10

Two days to go until due date, although I was expecting sprog to be earlier than this. Keep feeling abdomen pain and then getting a bit excited, then it goes away again. All impatient now. Hmm

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 08:32

Welcome back ryuk and robynlou (I know you said you're new to this thread, but you were the first reply to my very first version of this thread back in April/May last year!)

Our babies on this thread are, on the whole, rather naughty, although there are a few exceptions (congratulations scubamummy !! :) :))

although like salt says, there have been a few MIA in the last couple of days. Roll call needed methinks;

I am here. Baby is comfortably happy inside me Hmm Angry :o

Crystylline · 25/01/2011 08:41

morning!

and hi RYUK and robynlou.

seeing the MW today, but doubt anything exciting will happen.

think i might take myself off for a little walk to try and remind the baby of that important thing called gravity!

silent witness was a horror show last night! anyone else watch? poor harry!

LadyBuzz · 25/01/2011 08:45

scubamummy congratulations on your baby girl.

Welcome back robynlou

My brother is coming up on Friday and he too will be lynched if he does not come baring Doughnuts, i'm making him stop specially Grin
although i can't call them a craving now i do think I deserve them Grin

Crystylline · 25/01/2011 08:49

and congrats scubamummy.

how's everything today ladyb? i think you can still demand cravings and call them cravings for at least a few more weeks. Your body takes time to adjust, no? lol

LadyBuzz · 25/01/2011 08:55

crystyl that is good enough a reason for me Grin
DH & I demolished a box of milk tray last night!

Pain is worse today, its a very odd one, its not my scar so much as the flabby bit above burns when i stand up, tis odd but it can only get better. Fine if i'm sat or lying down so that is what i will be doing!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 09:02

Let the HV know about the pain LadyB, I don't recall getting a pain away from the scar last time (and badger her; 3rd time mums don't get as much attention as they think we know what we're doing?!!)

Happy Birthday by the way - 21 again? :o

Crystylline · 25/01/2011 09:07

ladyb yeah, that does sound a bit ouch.

happy birthday and hope it's a truly lovely one!

any joy from your naughty cervix this am Bubba

(is there anywhere else in the world where that question can be acceptably asked, apart from MN?? Grin )

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 09:16

lol crystyll!!

nope, it's doing sweet FA yet again, although it did score a respectable 6 again yesterday. Clever little cervix >>proud of cervix emoticon

RockLover · 25/01/2011 09:18

Morning ladies. Congratulations scuba and welcome robyn.

Had another horrid "weeing" night, I'm starting to really worry that I have got GD because I pee so much. I've decided no more sugary stuff as from now until I see mw on thursday.

I've had a crappy morning so far, DD had a meltdown over the dress I had ironed for school, she didn't want to wear tights and then she didn't like the belt that was with it.

So with 10 mins until we left I was ironing jeans and a top, at which point she has another meltdown that she wants to wear the dress with no tights and no belt and does not want jeans on. Needless to say I was a mean mummy and she went to school with the jeans.

I also have to admit that I have no patience at all at the mo and I probably shouted far more than necessary, but I did give her a big cuddle at school.

I'm now feeling knackered, drained and a bit worried about how I am going to cope with 2 children, I really don't want to be a rubbish mummy. I am thinking of walking into town as I need to pick up a birthday card and some wrapping paper for DP's birthday, but I'm not sure I feel like it at the moment.

And breathe.....
