poor you rock

how annoying gallic - I waited in five hours yesterday for the virgin media technician, who never arrived Angry although in theory it's good that your mw will visit you at home! I've forked out a fortune in carparking fees visiting mine!

gallicgirl · 19/01/2011 13:03

Yeah carpark fees of £2 each time I went to the hospital for an appointment were pretty annoying.

Just had text from MW to say will move appointment to tomorrow as she has a patient in early labour. Now I'm jealous!

CupcakesHay · 19/01/2011 15:10

Wow - you've all been busy on here today!

I'm shattered! Went to asda and bought 2 more tops, and then walked around Newton Abbot - went to thorntons and got 5 halloween lollies for £1 - who cares if they're skeletons - they're still chocolate Grin

Photo orgnising sounds better than cleaning bubba

And def panicking less now. Although whoever said about bowling ball was right - I have a feeling my baby's pretty much engaged.... off to M/w tomo mornign - so i'll check then!

And can sympathis about car park fees - luckily i make my dad drive me and bribe him with a yorkie and a paper and he sits in B&Q car park til i call him to collect me Smile - one of the good things about my set up!

Has salt been on, or have i missed her? And pootle?

My friend sent me message on FB saying hope baby isn't big like her "little douglas" was - 10lb 9oz.... eek - so yeah eyes watering here too katie! And sorry to hear you are downing gaviscon like it's vodka shots on a student night!

Oooh- other news - my LOVELY aqua car seat arrived. HURRAH! So going to have fun on friday installing it - although have watched video online, and my mum's brill at techy stuff like this.

Has anyone noticed a weird vibrating feeling in/on bumps lately? Had it about three times today - almost like baby is lightly tapping me... odd.

And no hot belly buttons here bubba

Oh, and started my discipline early - because of the Braxtons last night - and naughty baby not listening to me - i didn't let him listen to ANY glee last night. Hmph.

And rock I forgot - i have a whoozit too - the funny star thing that vibrates. Can't believe i forgot about that - god knows where it is!

CupcakesHay · 19/01/2011 15:10

PS. Sorry - didn't take notes - so if i missed anything, apologies. Wink

AmIGoingMad · 19/01/2011 15:47

ladybuzz congratulations!!!! Grin
And good to hear that the other little ones are doing well too!

salt poor you still suffering- hope it gets better soon!

cupcakes yey! Seat finally here!!! Grin

bubba lovely to have you and your words of wisdom back properly now!

Thinking of all of you who've gone past your dates. Mine's approaching and I'm already wondering every two minutes when this little one will decide to make an appearance! I'm hoping I deal with the birth as well as the ones on this week's OBEM- they were so impressive! Have a feeling I'll be nothing like that tho- poor DH Blush

Missed being on here yesterday as had MW appt and had to go to hospital for scan to check presentation- all good and head is down! Did ask if they could give me an idea of weight from scan but apparently head was too far down to work weight out properly. Also had raised blood pressure and protein in wee so they've sent away sample and MW coming to see me Sat to check blodd pressure again. After hospital appt, went to town with MIL to buy some big knickers for after the birth and by the time I got home was exhausted and all I could do was sleep!

Have been for walk on the beach and chips today with DH which was lovely! Feeling very heavy now tho and was walking at snail pace!!! Grin

cupcakes is the vibrating thing like when baby has hiccups or feels like you can feel their heartbeat? I keep feeling some sort of beat and my whole belly moves ever so slightly every time I feel it!

RockLover · 19/01/2011 16:12

Good for you cupcakes and Ami for actually getting out and about, I'm rubbish at getting fresh air.

However, the school carpark was full when I got there so I had to park in the overflow carpark of Dartington Cider Press over the road (we're not allowed to park in the proper carparks). I had not realised how far it was from the carpark to the school, it nearly killed me walking there and back again.

Now I'm home and knackered. But I have done nothing constructive at all today and I've eaten all day (including 2 mini donuts) and I'm still hungry! Tried eating grapes, but they just don't hit the spot, so I'm going to have to have something more substantial. No wonder I look like a beached whale!

I'm so not looking in the mirror after I've given birth, I made that mistake with DD and cried my eyes out at the mess that was my tummy!!

Glad you got your carseat cupcakes, mine will come down with my parents when I'm in labour, which is cutting it pretty fine lol. Luckily that means my Dad will be on hand to fit it for me, he and Mum used it for my nephew so they know how it works.

Come on baby Rock, I'm getting really fed up with this pregnancy lark now.

cyberfairy · 19/01/2011 16:23

Hang in there everyone!
I am utterly uncomfortable too with much pain under the ribs and was up most of the night with varying pains I was convinced was labour...Glad to know everyone else suffering tooGrinAnyone else get sudden agony in between legs when walking?
Been to midwife and head fully engaged so that's a start, really don't want to go over due date-any time after my hair appointment tomorrow is fine by me!
I am utterly loving big gooey toasted sandwiches and sherbert lemons today. I will have no teeth left by the end of this-already lost one in a chocolate eclair when 9 months gone...

Pootle78 · 19/01/2011 16:51

Ok I have taken notes

Hello to all the new mummies, very impressed that you have found time to come and let us know what has been happening in your little hectic worlds at the moment.

AmI a walk on the beach sounds fantastic, I am 2 hours drive from the nearest beach :( and that doesn't matter which direction we travel!

Rock glad little un has decided it was having a lazy day and not moving when it should, it is scary though, not long now!!!

Cupcakes glad you enjoyed your shopping trip and hooray to Halfords - finally !!!

Salt lounging in the bath bonding with the bump sounds fantastic! I tried pineapple last night - nadda - everyone on facebook is saying raspberry leaf tea although have I left it too late?

Cyber enjoy your pampering tomorrow, another one here who has hairdressers and dentist tomorrow so will either have a lovely haircut or gone into labour and will have to cancel (baby pootle, please wait til after the appointment!)

Running very impressed with your leg shaving, the thought of bending over for more than 2 mins makes me breathless and little one objects as I squash them so had them waxed last week and hope it lasts til d day!

Travis no domestic goddess here either, I know what needs doing, just can't be botered!

Gallic glad Argos came up trumps with the vouchers

Flora Red Heads Rock - ok mine comes out of a bottle but we're all the same, need to do mine again but not sure I could cope with the bending over the bath to do it myslef and if I don't do it before baby arrives, who knows when I will have the time again!

Bubba the complimentary medicine soulds fantastic, hope someone drops out!

Ladybuzz sounds like you have a posh hospital with free interent, I'll be lucky to get maternity pads the way our trust is!!!

I hope I have covered everyone, sorry if I have missed anyone or got you confused with someone else!

Today I have mostly been playing Delia Smith and batch cooking, have currently made 4 portions of curry, 4 portions of sausage caserole, 4 portions of lemon chicken, there's a vegetable tangine in the slow cooker and still have piles of mince to go through to make spag bol, lasagne, chilli, cottage pie and anything else I can think of plus want to make some quiches too! I was on slimming world before falling pregnant so hoping to get back into the healthy eating pdq!!!

My back is starting to hurt on the right side behind where my kidneys, think it is because I have been stood in the kitchen and not reading anything else into it! Think it has also knackered me out cause I could quite happily fall asleep on the settee!

OP posts:
RockLover · 19/01/2011 16:54

I'm having horrible pains in my pubic bone when I'm walking cyberfairy it REALLY hurts! Hence I am a lazy cow and try not to walk too far now. Plus I always feel like I need to pee when I'm walking, even if I've just been, it's very annoying!

I've had no more periody aches since last week, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be here for the long haul. :(

travispickles · 19/01/2011 17:01

Just back from hospital where I saw one of the lesser docs (not actual consultant) and he was rubbish. Talked to me like I was really thick, and tbh, am so tired I just don't have the energy to be assertive. So - no sweep or internals. Just a date for induction, and "Oh if youwant a sweep you will have to make an apt with your midwife next week". So no nearer...

Pootle78 · 19/01/2011 17:19

Bless you Travis I'm sure doctors are supposed to have some sort of "people skills" but I have had the same experience with a lacky !!!

Book a sweep with your midwife as mine said a lot of people going into labour the night before they are due one, maybe pschosymatic (?) but could work - keep smiling :)

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 19/01/2011 17:33

pootle def not a posh hosp and def no free pads here!

DD is adorable, her hair isn't as red as we thought, more of a strawberry blonde.
She is a fab feeder so far but would not sleep in the cot last night so i am shattered.
hoping to be home tomorrow but had some complications so will have to see.

bubba boys came yesterday and loved her. ds1 is a little usettled but i'm sure he will be fine when we are home.

I Have read through and am sending labour vibes to you all (except cupcake).

gallicgirl · 19/01/2011 17:50

aww I would love to have a red-headed baby. DP thinks otherwise grrrr. Will probably be blonde though.

So frustrating travis - sounds like your appointment was a waste of time. I found you have to repeat things in very simple terms for junior doctors!

saltnvinigarcrips · 19/01/2011 17:55

Good that you get to go home tomorrow ladybuzz and hopefully back in full health. Must be so exciting for your boys too to have a new little sister, how cute :)

Don't worry cupcakes I am still here - just been lurking as didn't have anything interetsing to say. Woke up, made myself tea and teacakes and went back to bed with my book 'The White Queen' which is brilliant if you like historical fiction/fact stories. Then I fell asleep for a good few hours and then watched Jeremy Kyle, had a bath and now I am going to make a Pad Thai.

travis everyday I aim to polish in the living room but everyday I let myself down. apparently dust is good for babies anyway?? Builds up their immune system??? I will do it tomorrow for sure Hmm
pootle I am massively impressed and daunted by your cooking frenzy. I am rubbish and can only follow recipes and make one thing at a time. You sound like a domestic goddess Envy

CupcakesHay · 19/01/2011 17:59

My parents are taking a leaf out of running's gym mates book - and we now have a guess the baby weight. I picked 7lb 11 - but then parents picked 8lb3 and 8lb 5 - so now i'm thinking i made a mistake and went too low... and then i should have been devious and asked M/w tomorrow.

Love you pootle and your note taking! And i'm dribbling thinking of all the yummy food you've cooked! Sounds fab plan - and you'll be so pleased you did that a few weeks down the line.

Ladybuzz - how long have you got to stay in for? And i'm strawberry blonde - well - DH calls me ginger to tease me, but strawberry blonde is fab - i go gingery in winter and blnder in summer so best of both worlds! And good to hear about DSs liking the new baby.

AmI - chips on the beach sound fab and i was walking sooooooo slow and waddling - so not sure how energetic I was being either. Smile

And cyber - gooey toasted sandwiches sound lovely too.... mmm - why am i so obsessed with food at the moment?

Very annoying about your hospital appt travis - but i soooo know where you are coming from about not having energy to argue. My mum's obviously got out of the wrong side of bed today, and whereas normally i might argue back a tad, i just can't be arse and just agree with whatever she's saying/wants to do and just agree!

As for the vibrating - it's stopped. Don't think it was hiccups though.

At least you are managing to eat a little more rock even if it's all scrummy unhealthy things Grin - and poor you about the parking... amazing isn't it - I parked not that far from the Asda front and was exhausted just walking there. (btw - know where the cide press is - really want to go there one day!)

I've been thinking about my pulled ribs, and wondering if maybe it's something to do with baby rather than pulled ribs, IYSWIM... I think i'll ask the m/w - poor lvoe - i have a list of questions.

Right -dinner - beef in beer with mash and carrots and PEAS! Phew - peas. Grin

CupcakesHay · 19/01/2011 18:02

X post - but pleased you're still here salt (or is that wrong - are you wanting your baby out)

And read the White Queen and love it - when's the sequel out? Reading "Room" at the moment - by Emma Donaghue - and it's really fab - if a little creepy... and also have read pretty much all of the Harry Hole books by Jo Nesbo - which is about a detective in Norway - but it's my choice reading at 3am!

mmmm - peas....

saltnvinigarcrips · 19/01/2011 18:14

cupcakes 'The Red Queen' is out in hardback now. I got 3 for 2 at waterstones the other day when i ventured out. Going to join the library when lo is here and yes I want him/her out BUT after my bum problem has sorted itself. I can't even begin to imagine going into labour in this amount of pain already. Still, I am building up pain barrier - there have been no tears today but might have to try some stronger stuff (not recommended for pregnancy) if it doesn't improve as i'm getting desperate. Do you think I could get a c section as surely I can't push ...

RunningKatie · 19/01/2011 18:18

Am back from MW and NCT coffee session.

So, MW - my platelets are back up in the nice and healthy range, yay. And the bump is now 2/5 so heading in the right direction, double yay. Booked in for a sweep next Fri, then can have another the following Weds, then would be induced on the Fri so the 4th I think. Good to have a plan of what could happen. Now, I just want baby to realise that I'd rather not have someone sweeping me there and crack on with appearing.

Pootle - I am in awe of your cooking fest, I feel quite pathetic now with my batches of soup and bolognaise. Must try harder.

Right, off to make some food as DP has gone off to fix his brothers mini so my usual slave isn't available to wait on me.

Pootle78 · 19/01/2011 18:55

It's not that impressive people, I don't do any weighing or measurinig, just open cans of stuff and chuck it all together and bung it in the oven, there is no domestic goddess here!

OP posts:
NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 19/01/2011 19:06

I second the awe at your Domestic Goddess routine today pootle - I'll take a couple of the curries please :o

Glad your platelet count is good again running

salt I think they might just hold your piles in for you when you push!! Hmm Hmm Definitely avoid polishing, eat more prunes etc and avoid iron tablets etc which can make you constipated. Poor you, not fun. Bad enough after labour. :(

Sooo, very much recommend the complementary therapy if you can get it ladies - lovely reflexology with massage with aromatherapy. They had monitored me first for nearly an hour because baby's heartbeat was 'sluggish', and I was in the same room as I had been when, at 39 weeks, they told me DD2 might die if I went home and waters broke, so was a bit concerned to be there again and not hearing good news. After some cold water to perk it up, and about half an hour, it started to behave and its heartbeat picked up - thank fuck!

Still, no contractions and I'm too uncomfortable to contemplate vigorous walks or jiggy, so will just have to wait and see. Get the same treatment on Friday if nothing's happened again by then.

Hope the last night of sleep in the hospital is okay LadyB and I'm sure DS2 will be fine once his mum and little sister Kali are home too. DD1 cried today because baby was still in my tummy and not here yet. I almost joined in with her! Hmm

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 19/01/2011 19:12

lol - x-post pootle - I was busy extolling your virtues while you were denying them :o Even so, there's an art form and dedication to what you've done. More than the majority of us sound like we can even imagine doing! :)

CupcakesHay · 19/01/2011 20:39

Can i ask - what exactly is a "sweep" - yeah, i know i could google - but too tired for that tonight... i've exhausted myself walking and shopping (and eating M&S swiss roll tonight!) - so what do they actually do? Hmm

Running _ i love the timetable they've given you - makes it nice to know what you've got ahead of you!

Poor salt i'm pleased you are doing a bit better with pain - but know where you are coming from - when i had all my nightmare illness at Christmas - i genuinely could not even contemplating giving birth - and if i had have gone into labour then I would have BEGGED for a c-section. so i can sympathise Sad

Have antenatal tomorrow as well as midwife - really have to drag myself along - want to bunk off like a bad Pe lesson at school.. but i'll force myself to go. Last week it seemd so airy-fairy - plus didn't help they were all gawping at me for being 38 weeks pregnant - when they were all svelte 24 weeks pg Grin - another reason for keeping baby in til the 1st - it means i can make DH suffer the last one with me - even if i don't want to go!

i'm sitting here almost falling asleep at the keyboard, but know if i go to bed now I'll be up at midnight... MUST STAY AWAKE!

Oh and salt thanks for tellng me about the next book - I'll def get that to read (although who knows when I'll have time for reading when DS finally gets here!)

RockLover · 19/01/2011 21:13

Another wow from me on the cooking front pootle! DP made a lush chicken, sweetcorn and kale soup (with home-made chicken stock), he even made some toasted french bread croutons with garlic and gruyere. I am so crap compared to him.

I need to ask a question, sorry if TMI. Every time I go for a pee I always feel like I need to go again almost straight away...like some has got stuck IFSWIM. When I do go only a teeny trickle comes out, I'm hoping this is just the babies head restricting the flow so to speak. Does anyone else get this?

gallicgirl · 19/01/2011 21:25

rock you could try rocking before getting off the toilet. Apparently the weight of the baby then squeezes the last bit out.

I didn't bother with yoga tonight cupcakes. Just couldn't be bothered and sort of forgot. I cooked a huge lasagne and I've been slobbing in front of the tv instead.

A sweep is a way of trying to induce labour: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_induction

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 19/01/2011 21:40

Or the non-wikipedia version - MW sticks her fingers up your fandangle and sweeps round in a circle causing much discomfort, tickles baby's head in the process and spreads her fingers to count how "stretchy" Hmm your cervix is. :o

Yes rock I often pee little then need to pee more 5 mins later.
