New thread here for those final few weeks (fingers crossed!)

Loving the knitted Peppa and George. :)

If my mums prediction is anything to go by I'll still be waiting into February too. Everytime I say it's x days to go, she helpfully says "or another 14 after that". Grrrrr.

Excellent roundup there Pootle, glad to see you were taking notes.

DP appears to be doing the i-g - lucky me Grin

Fuzzywood · 15/01/2011 19:41

Hey all.
Loving Peppa & George Cupcakes, DD loves Peppa pig at the moment.
Had a busy day here so shattered now. Farm was good yesterday, we have season tickets so spend quite a lot of time there, just waiting for DD to start asking for her own rabbit.
Just trying to decide what to have to eat, can't really be bothered to cook but am really hungry so must force myself to make something. Anymore twinges for anyone? I keep thinking something is starting but sure its just wishful thinking!

gallicgirl · 15/01/2011 20:13

Just got an email from a friend from NCT class saying she had her baby girl on Thursday. She was due Monday - day before me - so now that's 2 out of 5 appeared and a third very likely. The fifth isn't due for another month so there's really only me left :(

gallicgirl · 15/01/2011 20:14

fuzzy - get a hamster for your DD, they don't last as long Grin

RunningKatie · 15/01/2011 20:21

gallic - we were a class of 10, 2 babies have arrived so far and both are called Charlie! The girl who is due the same day as me (23rd) is apparently having an 11lb baby so is being induced this coming Monday.

Fuzzy, no twinges as such but I'm eating like a horse, just had to fetch my chocolate tin down off the shelf and start a bag of maltesers. Yay for it being Saturday evening Grin

gallicgirl · 15/01/2011 20:24

I've had a creme egg and there is a double decker to hand.

11 lb????? Really???? Shock

Thought my possible 8 pounder was a lot but seriously, 11 lb is a toddler! Let's hope growth charts/scans are a load of rubbish. Midwife reckons more like 7lb 8oz. I reckon more like 7 lb.

Is anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea? How many cups a day are you having?

Fuzzywood · 15/01/2011 20:29

Mmmm chocolate Smile have had my tea and starting on the Jaffa cakes.
One of my nct friends (from when I gad DD) was told her first would be at least 10lb, she was just over 7lb and is tiny now so hopefully the one predicted to be 11lb won't be quite so big Running. The lady opposite me in the post natal ward when I had DD had a boy who was 11lb something and she had it naturally, ouch! Hoping this one isn't significantly larger than DD, 8lb 7 was big enough thank you!
Good thinking about the hamster Gallic either that or I'll just keep taking her around my friends house as they have loads of pets Grin

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 20:35

love your thinking about the rabbit/hamster gallic! and don't worry - me and pootle will still be here when all of you have popped them out.

I've been feeling really active today - bizarrely! I even made dinner.... and i'm just doing my nails.

Pleased you've got your DP well trained running Grin and sorry - but selfishly I want someone else to be having their baby at the same time as me! And we all know when mine's coming Wink

And pleased you're a bit better rock - maybe you need a lie in every day... just keep DD off school til the baby comes! Oh, and mum charges £15 for peppa, or £15 for george & dinosaur or £12.50 George on his own - all inc first class postage

They're quite tall - Peppa's about 15inches - although they don't stand up cos they're legs are too wibbly. I really do love them. Mum's trying to make a thingy that peppa carries - we couldn't decide if it's a teddy bear or a dog!

And i LOVE the name George Rock. So so so adorable.

We already have baby name picked too - not telling til he comes and then i'll be telling all - but had decided on just first and one middle name, but after all my recent glee-ing - i'm going to add a second second name of Kurt - which is kind of like my secret squirrel bit between me and baby! Dh thinks i'm mad - but i think when he grows up and asks about his name, I'll be able to say "Aaah you're called Kurt cos you were so mad about glee when you were in my tummy, and used to kick mummy like mad when you listened to it, or we watched it" Grin

Pootle78 · 15/01/2011 21:24

Fil (not my favourite person) has just phoned to see if I am alright as he's had a preminition that something will happen tonight Hmm it had better not as don't think I could cope with him saying for The rest of his life "he knew" - apparently he's had some feelings before that have come true but out of sheer bloody mindedness I'm not having this baby tonight!

Isn't tv crap tonight?!

OP posts:
gallicgirl · 15/01/2011 21:33

Yeah, tv sucks. I'm watching Devil Wears Prada, kind of. Spent half an hour on phone to sister though which was good.

Keep your legs crossed pootle and let's hope it's my baby that arrives instead :)

I like that you can tell your baby why he has his name cupcakes. I have my name just because my mother liked it which is reason enough I suppose. My father claims my sister was named after the wife of a trade union leader Hmm which was news to my mother!

I wanted to choose a film star name but my DP said it was too old-fashioned. We do have a different film star name in reserve but I think it sounds awkward. Our first choice will be because daddy liked it!

RunningKatie · 15/01/2011 21:59

11lb does sound awfully large to me, she does have a very large bump, she's fully engaged and the baby is still kicking her in the ribs so it's probably quite a long baby tbh.

In breaking news - I have a changing mat, so my sister's not totally useless. I still think it's a good plan for baby to arrive on her birthday otherwise she'll never remember their birthday! Grin

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 22:01

Ok - going to type quickly - cos last time by the time i posted - i'd missed abotu 3 other posts - and wanted to say WOW about 11lb baby. NAd I like the name Charlie.

has anyone else decided for sure on names? I badgered Dh with first name - I said "come up with an alternative I prefer and we'll go with that one" - to be fair, i ddi give him a list of 20 names i liked, and he poo-pooed all but 3 and then i went off the other 2!

Good plan with double decker and creme egg! I've had cheese on crackers and ice cream, meringue and chocoalte sauce. Might have bag of crisps in minute too Blush

Just checked mine and brother's weights with my mum, we were both 7.7/7.14 - so that's ok!

Yes crap TV - luckily i've been filling my parents Sky plus, so we just watched that Above Suspicision, and i've been googling horrid high chairs so i can suggest minging ones to DH. Honestly - you'll all start to feel sorry for my Dh the way i go on! Shock

And pootle love your FIL - and know exactly what you mean - that's the kind of thing my MIL would do - and go on about forever and ever. I love the keep your legs crossed advice.

Hmm - going to watch Blackadde's top 40 moments... not sure how good it'll be but can't find anything else me and parents agree on!

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 22:04

See - crossed posted with running but going to check afetr I post from now on so i can comment quickly and not have to take notes. ha ha.

And HURRAH for your changing mat.... and love the idea of having baby on your sister's birthday. I suddenly thought tonight - my wedding anniversary is on the 8th Feb - bloody hope baby doesn't come then - otherwise Dh will never buy me pressie ever again - well, not that he does at mo without prompting! Grin

RockLover · 15/01/2011 22:42

Thanks for the prices Cupcakes, I'd definitely like a George with dinosaur, that would be just perfect!

This baby is due on DP's birthday and he is sooooo desperate for that to happen, I'll feel bad if I can't oblige lol. I can only do my best :).

On a crappy note, I have NO chocolate!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 16/01/2011 06:42

lol at talk of big babies - my first was over 9lbs and 2nd was 11lbs 8 Shock so you can see why i'm particularly keen to get this one out early - others were early and bang on due date! I would be very pissed off if this one stayed in until our wedding anniversary - 11th Feb. And I would be crossing my legs like mad to stop baby coming on a day MIL thought it might make an appearance! Grin Love the name George for boy or girl but DH won't have it. Still not sure what this one will be called... Haven't checked out your mum's knitwear cos of phone and no comp but they sound sweet. Wonder how all the new mummies are getting on? Sending them (and all fridges, taps, cars etc!!) lots of good thoughts. Off to parents for lunch later so will try and go on their computer for a better catch up :)

Crystylline · 16/01/2011 08:18

morning chocoholics!

love the george and peppa toys - they are sooo cute!

Hi pootle car is being fixed on monday. big bill... yuck. but it's pretty essential, so have to suck it up.

no heavy baby for me please! doctor reckons mine will be no more than 7.5, so i've been telling bump that he's not to be mahoosive.

george is a lovely name!

i chose bump's names ages ago. first name was my choice, and i let my parents choose his middle names from old family traditions. happy with them, but really hope he suits his names!

nowt new here really, except heartburn of doom.

what's everyone up to this rainy/windy sunday?

cyberfairy · 16/01/2011 09:10

Is it common to be told how much your baby will weigh? I've been given no indication apart from he's on the small side of normal-was told I did not have to see midwife weekly either which I thought was the norm when so far along.
I really want to go for a walk but again tis raining and the countryside does not have toilets every two hundred yards.
Just joined LoveFilm to keep me entertained during maternity-hope it will keep me off ebay...
I like the name George too Smile

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 09:35

The weight predictions can be very hit and miss TBH, I know of 1 who was induced due to her baby being really small he was 8lb 6, her first had been 6lbs full term no probs Hmm

My friends DSIS had her first 12lb 7oz Shock she was in take a break Grin

MW reckons this one is smaller then the boys but this is just from feeling and fundal measurements, I reckon she will be about the same!

Today I am going to make Mars Bar cake and then Sunday dinner! mmmm

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 10:02

Morning! I have been up for an hour, but faffing with breakfast. Actually had morning sickness this morning (and cramp in leg getting out of bed!) - very odd though the morning sickness. ho-hum.

rock NO CHOCOLATE? how did you cope. I hope you sent out an air ambulance to pick you up some Grin

bubba you're baby will DEF get here before your anniversary - surely it can't be much longer now????

And poor crystylline with your huge car bill - but agree - better to get it done now. And love that you let your parents pick the middle name. That's lovely. I've gone for William which was my grandad's name. he died when I was 4 so i didn't really know him.

lady buzz Mars Bar cake sounds intriguing - tell me more please...?

I hadn't even considered baby weight - well - apart from to ask my mum what size we were. all i know about this one is that he has long legs... which could be why even though i'm sure his heads down - he manages to kick me all over the shop still Grin

cyberfairy I think you should go fo a walk and just wet yourself if you need the loo - and if anyone asks say "oooh my waters must have broken" ha ha! No - very active of you.

I'm planning to a trip to morrissons and debating pub quiz tonight. my dad's panicked cos he can't drink (he's on driving duty for a bit) so imagine we'll be staying in Sad.

Oh and i'm going to badger my DH about the high chair!

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 11:08

cupcake mars bar cake is butter, mars bars, golden syrup mixed with rice crispies. Flattened and covered in chocolate! It is delicious.

Well I will have to have something for me my visitors coming to visit Grin
Like its going to last past tomorrow Grin

William is a fab middle name it is my DS1s middle name.

Which highchair is it you like cupcake?

RockLover · 16/01/2011 11:55

Morning all! Despite not getting up till 11.30 I had a crappy night's sleep (mainly due to peeing alot), so I don't feel quite as great today...a bit sicky and bleugh.

Have had two Go Ahead biscuits for breakfast, contemplating having something else, but really don't fancy anything at the moment.

We have to sort our tip of a bedroom out today so I do need to perk up and get my arse into gear asap, but at the moment sofa and MN seems more appealing.

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 12:45

lady buzz this is the link high chair- but i've seen it at a different shop (littlepebbles.co.uk) online. They've stopped making it, so it's hard to find. if i hadn't have actually seen my friends, and seen it in the flesh, i wouldn't be so impressed with it (although she has apple print)

For some reason, i don't want wood - and TBH i've just set my heart on this one Blush - anyhow waiting for DH to call and then i'll badger him.

I've done not much today - went to Morrisons, read paper, did some facebook farming (yes, i'm a nerd - but I figure do it before baby is here!) and that's it. I promised my mum i'd scan some knitting patterns in for her - and i'm going to have leftover pasta for lunch.... I miss the excitement of normal telly on a sunday - all it is it footie footie footie!

Fuzzywood · 16/01/2011 13:14

Afternoon all. I'm feeling much better today as I've only just got up. DH has been out with DD all morning, I had to get up with her in the night, which is very unusual, then it took me 3 hours to get back to sleep. No more twinges so clearly wishful thinking.
Mars bar cake sounds yummy LadyBuzz.

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 13:51

cupcakes it looks fab! I like the colours.

I'm also a nerd but my current addiction is Cityville Grin

travispickles · 16/01/2011 13:52

Well yesterday I had what I took to be early contractions, like period pains and strong enough to stop me in my tracks, but having had a reasonably long sleep (well, up every two hours for a bit but 12-12 iyswim) I don't feel too bad today. Seems to be worse when walking around?? Just been to see my mum who was telling me I should be pulling on my nipples to toughen them up Hmm Hmmmm not sure,....
