New thread here for those final few weeks (fingers crossed!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Crystylline · 15/01/2011 05:13

aw cupcakes look, we're the insomnia club!

evil heartburn forced me from my slumbers.

haven't seen the sparkworld ads. am sitting here with the crossword and the news pondering if food is a good idea.

amazingly not tired now, just wide awake.

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 10:59

Damn crysty - I was lying in bed at 5am wide awake. Dozed off abotu 7am but got up at 10 - so I managed to get quite a lot of sleep in the end!

Just received my Uni Assignment back - and i passed! THANK GOD! Although I madly Blush sent my draft in which was brightly coloured with notes to myself! ooops.

How's everyone this morning???

travispickles · 15/01/2011 11:59

Have started getting period pain like twinges in my back, lower tummy and hips. Is that normal? Am starting to feel a bit worried at the thought of going into labour soon...
Although didn't sleep til about 3, slept until 10 so I guess thats as good as it gets...
Going out for lunch today with OH. Hurray!
Almost a date...

RockLover · 15/01/2011 12:31

Travis, that sounds very promising, keep us up to date!

Cupcakes, I too know the hideousness of the Sparkworld ad but from Heart radio rather than the TV and yes it's ridiculous how easily it lodges in your brain.

I've literally just got up, Saturday is the only day I can actually sleep without fretting or peeing every 10 minutes. DP has just taken DD into town to buy something with her £10 Christmas money (bless him, he's so good with her).

I decided not to go, a) because I am very lazy and b) after my disasterous walk into town the other day I am not walking anywhere until this baby is out!

Now I need to grab some breakfast/lunch. :)

Crystylline · 15/01/2011 12:35

travis poss early signs, but unless it's contractions and regular it's not labour yet I don't think. keep us posted though and try and relax!

morning all! managed to get back to sleep for an hour or so and now making yummy soup for lunch, so i can then sprawl on the sofa for the rest of the day. Grin

glad everyone is being as equally lazy relaxed

RunningKatie · 15/01/2011 12:36

Afternoon ladies

Wonderful news about the new arrivals mimou and Zippy - I am teensy bit envious too even though this one isn't due for another 8 days so there's no point being impatient yet.

I was awake from 4am too, had some more gaviscon, that's another bottle polished off - thank heavens for free prescriptions!

DP has gone off to work on his mini again, so I'm sat here with my feet up and the papers. Keep thinking to myself that these quiet times aren't going to last much longer.....

saltnvinigarcrips · 15/01/2011 12:53

I thought exactly the same thing this morning running as me and hubby snuggled on sofa watching 'UP'. For the first time in ages I actually thought 'don't come just yet, i'm not actually mentally ready'. Although I think it' s more i'm just terrified of the labour :(.

Massive congratulations to mimou and zippy. Both a very good weight :)

Not sure what the weather is like in Devon but it is really windy here so have cancelled a meeting with a friend as I hate being blown around. Plus this baby feels so heavy I sometimes feel like it will fall out Biscuit

Think I am going to have to order nursing bras online as no motivation to go out and do it ...
should I go one cup size up from now? Any ideas?

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 13:07

salt - yeah I guess one cup size up - sounds about right. I'm planning to order some the day I get back from hospital.

Just had lunch too - spent an hour on phone earlier to DH - he's def missing me - he was just rambling on - it actually felt like we were in the same room. I def don't want this baby coming without letting me have a teeny bit of time with DH when he comes... so i'm still telling baby 1st feb.

Oh - and very windy here too - and rained loads in night. not planning to leave house today though (especially not with my appalling outfit I have on today - kind of beige clown pants and bright pink top! I look like stevie wonder dressed meGrin)

Pleased you managed a lie in rock - and pleased you love the sparkworld jingle too Smile

Spoke to MIL this morning also - and she was asking me about the dates she's pencilled in with Dh's aunt & uncle to visit and i said yes - all sounds fine, but if i have baby on thurs or something, don't really want visitors the VERY first weekend, as need to sort ourselves out, etc. And she said "Oh, i'm just excited" and i said, i know, i know and then she said "You will let me see the baby won't you" Angry was VERY tempted to say "no" but i'm not that evil. She drives me nuts coming out with crap like that. Told DH and he said, oh she's just excited and wants to see baby, etc. So reiterated with him how important it is for us to sort BFeeding out, etc. and we can't just get back from hospital and have visitors next day. it'd be different if it was a pop in cos we live 5 mins down the road, but if they're making special trip and staying at B&B surely they'd rather come when it's all a bit more relaxed and less stressful. GRRRR. And is it me, or can she obviously not do empathy????

and disappointed with you running - feet up? Tsk i'd expect you to be swimming or running a marathon Wink. Good for you girl!

Doing nothing exciting today - maybe a bit of reading and i'm making dinner tonight Shock - so might actually need to do that at some stage....

SaraL77 · 15/01/2011 13:18

salt, the woman in Mothercare told me it was up one cupsize and down around the chest so if you're normally a 36B then you'd go for a 34C (I guess they think you go down around the chest when bump has gone) but I tried that and the one I bought felt far too tight, so am going to buy them up a cup size but staying the same around the chest if you know what I mean.

BH very frequent at night but definitely wasn't the start of labour the other night- I do remember contractions being more period-pain like first time round. Was just wishful thinking I think!

Wow Mimou, contractions 45 seconds apart straight away- I would have been worried I was going to give birth within the hour! I'm hoping my labour is even quicker than last time (was 5 hours from 'established' labour)

saltnvinigarcrips · 15/01/2011 13:35

Hmm, I think the advice differs depending on where you go. I ordered from Bravissimo (good company if small in back and big cup sizes) and phoned them up and they said to go up 2 sizes and stay the same in the back so I have ordered a 32 HH. If only they were pert I could be a page 3 girl lol!! Anyway, i've just ordered the one as it might be wrong.

cupcakes i'm impressed you have on an outfit as I can't even manage to dress myself atm. I'm sat/half layed on the sofa in just my pants and a top but I guess you can't do that if your dads around lol. I hope baby hangs on for your dh, you must be both missing each other like mad but it'll be a fantastic reunion and i'm sure bump has grown quite a bit since he last saw it. All very exciting.
Is it me or does it seem like we have lost a few people on this thread, it seems really quiet. Or maybe I need to get out more...

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 13:35

Stop - stop - you're making all us first timers jealous with your talk of quick labour! Surely one of us (not me please) is bound to have a horrid 60 hours+ labour!!!!

RockLover · 15/01/2011 13:48

Oh no that'll be me Cupcake, I was in labour for over 40 hours with DD! Then I couldn't get past 9.5cm dilated and had to have an emcs as the consultant and midwives couldn't push aside the lip of cervix that was in the way. Thank god for epidurals is all I can say lol.

I am hoping and praying that I have a better labour and birth this time round, I really don't think I am mentally or physically prepared for another mammoth labour. Also I'm going for a VBAC and I'm really worried about the pushing stage because I've never got to that part before.

Why is having a baby so damn scary?

Crystylline · 15/01/2011 13:51

cupcakes don't tempt fate! Smile 60 hour labour sounds horrendous!

i've only bought one nursing bra so far - one cup size up. figured i'd wait and see just how humongous these puppies get! Grin

i am dressed, however, just had a soup disaster... you know the one where you take the lid off the blender when it hasn't completely finished blending!

i'm now a delightful orange shade and have had to change clothes. guess i'm getting dressed for two!

bump is definitely lower now and most kick/punches are all in my pelvis. sometimes feels like he's trying to punch his way out instead of taking a more responsible mode!

also, discovered that baby has hiccups! frightened me at first - felt like weird pelvic spasms. but he's only had them a few times. it's quite sweet really.

RockLover · 15/01/2011 14:19

This baby has hiccups every day, as did my DD, it's rather disconcerting at first!

Pootle78 · 15/01/2011 14:35

Hello Ladies - I'm back cupcakes !

A HUGE congratulations to Zippy and Mimou, very jealous you aren't preggers and now have your wonderful little boys here in the big wide world

Travis sorry to hear about DH, I took 3 attempts; I'm not dreading childbirth, I'm just ignoring the fact it needs to happen, ignorance is bliss!!!

Fuzzy Hope you had fun on the farm the other day

Gallic another one here with a family history of short labours, fingers crossed it's hereditry (sp!) my sister was 3 hours 40 from 1st contraction to niece out!

Lady hope you have managed to sort out the fridge freezer and that the washing machine is behaving itself now! And I am in full agreement about the housework, no apologies here either!

Bubba hope the internet is back soon, it's a nightmare isn't it!

Salt glad to hear that baby is ok, I hate it when doctors have no people skills, surely that should be part of their training?!

Running you still seem far to energetic for me, just reading what you do knackers me out!!! I have bought arnica tablets from Holland and Barret, hopefully they will help with the healing, I read on here somewhere that the doseage a midwife recommended was 2 tablets every 4 hour as soon as contractions start and then 1 tablet every 15 minutes once baby is born (if you remember) droping to 4 tablets a day I think! If I can't find the thread again, I will use the instructions on the back of the pack! Fingers crossed they will work

Crystyl how's the car doing? Also how is the big clean up after soupgate? Me I'd have just opened a can Wink

Rock hope the tummy is feeling better and you must be very proud of you dd

Cupcakes Nice details from your swimming and the jungle Shock Grin and it must be lovely to speak to dh and the cat and know they are really missing you! And Congratulations for passing your assignment!

Hello to all the newbies too - I think that's it, sorry if I have missed off anyone!

The plumbers have gone, but have still managed to leave problems with the bathroom, like the shower won't pump through hot water - that was fun this morning!!!

My internet died too and there seemed to be far too much to read via my phone so just spent the last 40 minutes reading everything!

And, I have to report DH bought me a dozen Krispy Kremes last night Grin I contemplated having one for breakfast but decided against it, but had 2 for lunch instead to make up for it!

Today we are doing tip runs and moving furniture around between the family and having the final splurge of sorting out, I also have some drawers from Argoos to put together to put my bedding and towels in!

Sorry for the epic post, note to self, make sure the internet it working and don't leave it so long til I come back on!

Looking forward to seeing who will be next, my mum took one look at me and said I wouldn't be having baby anytime soon as bump hasn't dropped, in fact it feels like it is getting higher - I think I am looking at 5th February, I'm not known for my time keeping and all of my mum's kids were late and 2 out of 3 of my sisters were late, so it don't boad well!

Right I am really off now, enjoy your afternoon :)

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 14:37

Oooh - have yet to have the fun of hiccups yet! And my baby keeps moving - up and down up and down. i know his heads facing down - but his legs are just swinging around all over the shop!

And love the soup disaster - sorry Grin very funny!

My DH is lovely but odd! I finally found the high chair i want (remember i have to send it back with my shipment, otherwise i wouldn't be so organised) - I've looked at loads and loads online, and in flesh and at friends houses, and really wanted this one my friend has. It's out of stock in most places, but i managed to hunt it down. So I emailled DH and said look - here it is. And he wrote back going "hmm - what happens if baby is huge? And i don't like the colour. Cna we not get one that's more aesthetically pleasing?" (wtf?) So then i spoke to him and said -well, baby doens't go in it til he's about 4 months - and does it matter what it looks like, it's blue and orange so not awful colours! Odd boy - so now i've sent him off to look for a better high chair, that i'm going to reject and just have to wait a week for him to give in Grin

My dad said "What a weird boy - why not just go for the easy life - who cares what colour it is!" (have to agree!) - also done that naughty thing of finding a very pretty impractical high chair - so lovely colours, but also costs £300.... in the hopes that DH will look at my £75 and think - oh sod it lets go for that!

rock how are you feeling today?

salt I went to bravissimo in london and got 2 nursing bras which were great - but are now soooooo uncomfy - esp around the chest so i think you made right call in sticking to same band and just going up a cup.

LadyBuzz · 15/01/2011 14:42

this LO has hiccups alot too, I never felt it with either DS but I was carrying a huge amount of water with the boys, which I have to say was more comfortable then feeling every movement as I have this time!

The weather is awful here and we are supposed to be going to a 40th tonight - I so don't want to go but I guess a couple of hours won't hurt!

Off for a lie down in preperation!

CupcakesHay · 15/01/2011 14:47

x-posted with you pootle - but nice to hear from you! And i think i'm going to be late too - so it'll prob be just me and you left twiddling our thumbs whilst the others will be changing pooey nappies and cuddling babies!

My mum has just knitted the most adorable peppa pig and her brother george, that she's selling. I'll post a pic on my profile so you can see - but i've decided baby will have to watch the show in a few years time - so that i can make mum knit one for me him! Wink

saltnvinigarcrips · 15/01/2011 15:22

Wow pootle you must have made some real or mental notes. Very impressed with your post. It's nice to be personal isn't it.

I find the hiccups slightly annoying albeit cute especially when I'm trying to sleep which is usually always when lo seems to get it.

cupcakes I feel your pain in respect of DH. Surely furniture buying for nursery and all things baby should be our remit? Is that very sexist? I just hate having to get the 'ok' and dh always thinks about price first (obviously more sensible than me) whereas I just want everything to look nice. Still, I know my head is all over the place at the minute. I've seen a really lovely rug from mamasandpapas in the sale but haven't even bothered to ask dh if I can get it for bubba's room as know he'll say it's too expensive - boo hoo.
Hope you have a good time tonight ladybuzz. I cancelled on a friend earlier as horrible weather but now I'm bored stiff and sat twiddling my thumbs i'm regretting it.

gallicgirl · 15/01/2011 15:36

lol George and Peppa look great cupcakes. Unfortunately my niece has just turned 4 and is growing out of Peppa. Dread to think what the next craze will be.

I'm very envious of those lucky mums who have their babies already. I'm very happy for you too but after a crap night's sleep, I'm feeling a bit fed-up. Think the DP is feeling down too as he's gone to work looking very glum. He was hoping I would have a few twinges so he could get out of his shift! I'm not sure what to do to cheer him up.

I'm going to phone my sister later and have a rant and moan so I can get it all out of my system. BIL has wound us up a bit over his lack of communication causing problems Angry. It's nothing insurmountable but just a bit frustrating.

Is there anything on TV tonight? I need to plan my nap appropriately Grin

LadyBuzz · 15/01/2011 16:44

oooh x-posts with you pootle hope you get your plumbing sorted soon. Its really crap when things don't work.
Fingers crossed our Fridge will limp on for another couple of weeks (as will the washer and hoover Hmm).

cupcake peppa and george are fab, love the dinosaur!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 15/01/2011 16:54

well still no baby here and also no internet, engineer coming Tues morning. Have my 40wk appt on tues pm. Very jealous but happy for new arrivals, and was only checking in quickly as I realised pootle hadn't posted for a while and was hoping for more baby news! See I'm not only impatient for my own baby:) Sorry for all the bad sleeps and pains. Can't possibly remember what each of you said but have read avidly. Hopefully post properly on tues. NoLadyOnlyTwoNoisyBubbasAndLotsOfBulgesAndBumps Grin

Pootle78 · 15/01/2011 17:21

Sadly not to be bubba - think I'll still be here when the tumble weed is rolling down the street when you are all up to your elbows in nappies and don't have time to post anymore!

OP posts:
RockLover · 15/01/2011 17:21

I'm feeling ok today (so far) thanks Cupcakes. I've managed to drive us down to the tip as we had loads of stuff that needed getting rid of, then we did the weekly shop and I filled the car up with petrol.

So I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself (if very knackered lol). I've just finished washing up and will cook the dinner in a bit, although just easy peasy pasta, so nothing too demanding. I'm on a roll!

Bought a low level light for our bedroom so that night feeds/changes will be easier and we won't startle baby by turning on a bright light. So we're getting there!

RockLover · 15/01/2011 17:30

Just seen the pics of the Peppa and George knitted figures Cupcakes, they're amazing! How much does your mum charge Cupcake?

We are going to be calling our little boy George and always joking with DD we'll call her Peppa (she loves the programme), so they would look lovely in baby's cot!!
