New thread here for those final few weeks (fingers crossed!)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Crystylline · 16/01/2011 14:01

travis you just enjoy pulling your nips lass! brilliant!

cyberfairy I think i prob have a better idea of weight, as I've had several extra growth scans. but, yeah, agree with everyone else that from what i've heard, it's all a bit of a guess.

just been shopping and friends coming over for tea and cake soon, so have a lovely afternoon everyone.

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 14:51

LOL Grin @ travis's mum! pulling nipples - that's so funny! You could get your DP to help - or just attach clips and some tins of baked beans.

But not too clever about contractions - pleased they've stopped.

Mmmmm... tea and cakes crystylline mmmm...

I like cityville too ladybuzz - yay for nerds!

Well... spoke to Dh (who was in a BRILL mood) - and told him he has til tomorrow morning and then i'm ordering the high chair Grin. I told him it would get covered in pureed parsnips and the like, so surely bright colours are better! And he said that he hopes the baby comes on the 30th or so, so that he has more time to spend with the baby before he has to fly home again on the the 22nd Feb. me too - i don't want to be induced! And then he told me he was having KFC for dinner! classy.... Smile

Still haven't done my scanning for my mum.... better get a wiggle on!

RockLover · 16/01/2011 16:19

DP has been fabulous today and worked like a dingbat to get our bedroom cleared and sorted in readiness for the baby.

I helped (a little bit Blush) by chucking sorting out mine and DDs bags and bags of old clothes, plus the suitcase full of crap I moved down with in June. The majority of stuff will be going to the recycling bins at the tip.

Poor old DP is knackered now, but our room looks really good with the furniture moved about and the cot taking pride of place.

Have a few more loads of washing to do to get donated sheets and blankets clean ready for baby when he deicides to make an appearance. Now we just need to find a space for all the stuff my parents will be bringing down when I go into labour, Christ knows where we're going to store the pushchair.

We've decided a roast is too much hard work for dinner tonight so we're ordering a chinese take-away for us and chipshop chips for DD . Unhealthy, but tasty, in fact I can't remember the last time we had take out, yummy! Grin

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 16:33

Mmmm chinese sounds FAB. Although am looking forward to roast chicken - but quite frankly today i'm so hungry i'd eat monkey brains soup a la Indiana Jones! Grin

RockLover · 16/01/2011 16:40

I'm ashamed to say that I'm actually rather knackered now after not doing that much to help my industrious DP.

None of us have even bothered to get dressed today (although DD loves pj days and is in her element). It's a good job that I had a busy day yesterday as I feel very lazy today.

I have been really hungry as well, but I always have problems eating my evening meal. I can never manage a very big portion so I will have to be careful what I order tonight because of waste.

Not looking forward to another week of school runs starting again tomorrow, I haven't got the energy!

cyberfairy · 16/01/2011 17:17

Don't be ashamed RockLover-I just went into town and rally struggled-felt sooo heavy and ouchy-only the other day I was racing around and felt incredibly lively and alert-seem to have suddenly ballooned as well.
You all sound like you've had an constructive Sunday-my baby's room is somewhat spoilt by the computer desk and computer but can't think of anywhere else to put it.

gallicgirl · 16/01/2011 17:22

My baby's room isn't recognisable as a nursery, so don't worry! Been looking for some drawers/shelves for baby stuff that don't cost a fortune but fit quite a narrow gap. No luck so far. DP would like to use an existing set of drawers we have that are currently full of his stuff. I'm going along with it because I don't think he'll manage to sort out his stuff so there's space and is a bit unrealistic about what's needed but I'll let him work that out. Wink

In happier news, I ate 3 jam doughnuts and we have chicken curry again for dinner. It's leftovers from the other day which have been pepped up.

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 17:57

Ummm - i don't think my day's been too constructive cyberbunny unless you count doing the crossword!

Love PJ days too rock - and I know what you mean about ordering too much - i ALWAYS go over board especially with chinese.

Love the 3 donuts gallic and the chicken curry leftovers. I bought some spicy butternut squash for lunch tomorrow - my parents don't do anything spicy or adventurous.... i'm having a courgette with sunday dinner (roasted) and my mum turned her nose up! God i'm hungry... only 30 mins to wait.... ugh - want to eat my arm off!

Oooh - i know what else i did - i put loads of books into my basket on amazon - only to change my mind! Grin So that wasted half an hour!!!!

RunningKatie · 16/01/2011 18:59

Chicken curry being consumed here too, and then I need a bath, going to try shaving my legs before a little swim tomorrow.

Am loving the motherly advice about nipple tweaking. Grin

We've been for a little walk today, but I kept getting random twinges so DP made me turn around, wise man as it promptly started to rain.

I've written my to-do list for the week, it's very dull, but now I've wiped one finger across the tv screen I really need to dust Blush

Rock, I'm fast coming to the conclusion our pram will have to live in the boot of the car, there's nowhere else for it to go.

Gallic, 3 doughnuts sounds wonderful, I'm very envious. I might eat the rest of my bag of maltesers next.

AmIGoingMad · 16/01/2011 19:34

Hello!
Even now that mat leave's started properly I'm rubbush on here!
Big congratulation to mimou and zippy!!!
I'm swinging between thinking 'bring it on now please' and oh good God- how the hell am I going to do this?!' To be honest- the latter is the one that I'm thinking the most!
rock you've made me really fancy a Chinese now even though we've just had a lovely Sunday dinner with hubby's parents! Will resist for now but not sure for how many days that'll last now that it's in my head! Grin
I've had one or two period type crampy things but spread out by about ten hours!!! Am also getting pain behind my right boob when I'm breathing in- it's eased off now though thank goodness!
How big is your hospital bag? I've got a little bag of baby clothes stuff, a bag for labour with snacks and nighty and stuff and a separate bag for after birth with towels and stuff for me- I've never been any good at packing light Blush.

AmIGoingMad · 16/01/2011 19:36

Also- little one's been relatively quiet today. Baby's been nuts the last week or so but a bit quieter today. Maybe storing energy for when I go to bed?!

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 19:42

Roast dinner was yummy! And going to have an eclair in a minute.

Love you running for attempting to shave your legs - you're making me look bad again - i just waddle into the pool as quick as possible hoping no one will notice my gorilla like legs! Grin

amI yes you are rubbish Wink - bag wise - i have mini suitcase, jam packed, and my baby's nappy changing bag with stuff for him in it - and then my camera which won't fit in - and i wanted to take a change of clthes for DH so need to squeeze that in somewhere.

Oh and running the base of our pram is def living in the car whilst i'm here as there's about 20 steps to get to mum's house - so i can't be bothered to lug the base - and i'll see about the carry cot bit.... although it'll only be for 6 weeks for me!

I've had 2 period like twinges - but also pretty much 12+ hours apart - and didn't last long - so think it might just be stronger Braxtons.

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 19:52

running before we moved into our current house I had 3 prams that lived in the car - its a good job it was a big car but it did cause issues if I forgot to remove at least 1 when we went shopping Grin

Had a lovely roast dinner but I am knackered from being on my feet which have swelled to twice their size - Doing nothing tomorrow in prep for the big day - I'm getting excited now!

I've heard somewhere that nipple tweaking can help startlabour so maybe worth doing for both things!

AmIGoingMad · 16/01/2011 19:53

And as if by magic- as soon as I type that the little one's been quiet, I get a good kicking! Smile
cupcakes roast dinner is amazing! And I find that it tastes so much better when prepared by someone else!Grin
Think I'm so rubbish on here as only access is via our PC so I'm pretty anti-social to poor hubby when I'm on here-oops!
Off to be a better wife now! But he's in work tomrw so I will be attempting an improved presence on here! Will probably take me most of the morning to catch up on posts- but that's the fab thing on here too! Hope people are still posting later on in Jan/Feb as I'm not due til 27th- have same fears as you cupcakes!
As for Braxtons- is that what they feel like- period pains? Or should there be some bump tightening too? Bottom of my bump is pretty tender now back and forth and sometimes itchy too(tmi?!)!

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 20:00

Someone described braxton hicks as shrink wrapping your room - really tightly and then letting it out. So i've had a few like that over the last month - but not for long. if it's not that then god alone knows what's happening! Blush

I have no idea how socialable on here i'll be when DH is here - but knowing him - i'll probably still be on here every day - as he'll be talkign footie with my dad.

I'd forgotten the big day was coming up lady buzz - tues right...? For the C-section right? or have i mixed you up - and sorry - can't be bothered to trawl back through posts to check (naughty cupcakes!!!)

Oh, and ami - do a pootle - she writes notes Grin

Right - off to watch larkford! Hopefully won't fall asleep on sofa dribbling at 9pm like i did last sunday!

OOoh - i've also heard nipple tweaking can help with pains during labour - but not sure i'd fancy doing that in front of all the staff - and I know DH would rather DIE than do that. Ha ha!

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 20:07

cupcakes yes you are right in on Tue for a CS Grin

I'm PMSL laughing at the thought of you or your DH tweaking your nips in delivery Grin

cyberfairy · 16/01/2011 20:19

Regarding motherly advice, my mum informs me I will give birth with no problems because I take a size five shoe. She also did the thing with the wedding ring and prophesised a boy and was very smug to be proved right.

Pootle78 · 16/01/2011 20:31

And what's wrong with writing notes?! Wink

Travis loving the motherly advise, let us know if it works!

gallic impressed with 3 doughnuts, I managed 2.5 krispy kremes!

ami I have 2 bags, one for labour and one for maternity ward, realised I needed more space than wiggle so thought it didn't look so bad to have 2 bigger bags. cupcakes my changing bag isn't very big so that has emergency things in it so dh isn't running round the house looking for pads and things.

Wow lady you're down to the final hours, I'm still in shock I've only got 10 days!

All you that have had roast dinners, am very envious, dh cooked me ravioli on toast!

Have midwife appointment tomorrow so going to find out the local policy on inducing is and also find out if she thinks wiggle is engaged

saltnvinigarcrips · 16/01/2011 21:05

Well I had pasta too so also feeling envious of everyone's roasts :( However I did follow it up with an entire tin of creamed rice pudding with blackcurrant jam so feeling better now. Have had a bit of a thing for rice pudding since being pregnant.

Well 39 weeks and a day today. Really hoping I go into labour soon (but after tesco delivery tomorrow) as so uncomfy and fed up. Getting constant twinges and general aches. Also the longer it goes on, the more I dread it so worried I will panic at the onset. Also and mainly just desperate to find out if it is a boy or girl and meet them Grin

gallicgirl · 16/01/2011 22:18

I'm so glad you had blackcurrant jam with your rice pudding salt. It is the correct way to eat a whole tin :)

Well the curry was bloody hot!! 1 1/2 pints of water were consumed and 5 tissues needed for sniffly nose. I think it's shocked baby into submission as I've barely had a wriggle out of her all evening. Not exactly the result we were after. Hmm

cyber I do hope your mum is right about my shoe size lol.

DP thinks I should get the incontinence/maternity pads out for me to sit on the sofa so if my waters break with a gush then the sofa won't be damaged Shock. That is a bit over the top, isn't it?

CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 22:31

cyber can you ask your mum - I'd be a size 5 if it wasn't for my giant toe - but cos of toe, i'm a six - but baby has long legs - so will mine be easy???

Envyfo you now ladybuzz - I've decided i'm too much of a control freak to have this whole surprise thing....

And happy 38 weeks today to me! eeek - 14 days - or 26 if you look at last possible induction date. UGH - that sounds like forever.

salt love the rice pudding - def makes up for my eclair and a half.

pootle i haven't had ravioli for years - was it the tinned kind - god that's so tasty - i might have to get some tomorrow! Maybe you'll start a new trend - instead of Krispy Kremes - ravioli Smile

Love the thought of your curry aving the wrong effect gallic - although one sign of going into labour is evacuating te bowels - so your curry might have half of the right effect Wink

Very pleased i found out sex of baby now.... although i bet it's more exciting not knowing. salt do you have an inkling? have you picked out names for both sexes?

And love your DP gallic! bless - way to make you feel great... you should aim for his shoes when your waters break- that'll teach him!

gallicgirl · 16/01/2011 22:33

Good idea. I might aim for his ugliest trainers so he has to throw them away.

Grin
CupcakesHay · 16/01/2011 22:42

also - First timers - just found this on which makes me feel a bit better about spotting contractions, etc.

Also - been practising breathing techniques via You Tube - as panicked that i might not actually make the antenatal class on breathing - which I think is in 3 weeks time....

travispickles · 16/01/2011 22:45

My due date is tomorrow but feel sure it's a while away yet! May go for pedicure to feel like am busy and not sitting around waiting. Just eaten half a strawberry chessecake which was very tasty

Fuzzywood · 16/01/2011 23:16

D day here tomorrow too Travis, officially at least, no sign of anything though. Did have a curry tonight in vain hope it would help, just gave me heartburn (well that did, or maybe the strawberries and cream, or the rice pudding and raspberry jam)
Thankfully the Gaviscon seems to have worked.
Talking of due dates, no more queue jumping the rest if you me and Travis are next Grin
