I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

Morning all.

Great to hear so many of you have had your scans, mine is on 4th Jan, I can't wait. I was hoping it would be before Christmas so I could tell rest of family, but never mind.

My sister in law is due 2 weeks before me and it seems like she told everyone practically the week after she conceived so parents in law can't understand why I am not telling anyone!!!

sues I have been reading a childrens book of Christmas stories and they are so sweet they are making me cry! I read them every year and they don't usually!

nicolamumof3 · 23/12/2010 09:41

midwife didn't refer me for scan so still waiting for date grrrrr!

tebbles · 23/12/2010 10:41

Thanks! OIckletownofbethlehem

Ive decided to wait and trust that they would phone me if important. Will be asking a lot more questions at the 20 weeks scan (at the hospital) and at my 16 week GP appointment!

Feel a little left in the dark due to the lack of info given so will chase it up then. Am also a bit Hmm that I wasnt given any contact numbers from the hospital until after my 12 week scan apart from the general department ones--so I guess if I did have to call them with a problem there would be quite a lot of call transferring.

Am not too concerned about the move as will be going to nice small hospital, know some of the staff personally, so Im already relaxed about that as I know what to expect. It will be very different to the hospital I am with at the moment with is very very busy.

Scottygirl10 · 23/12/2010 14:08

Hello all, came on here to have a good old cringe about crying in work today over something really stupid, in front of a LOT of people and behold the question already posed by sues1974 about crying! Well here's what made me cry today...wait for it...very serious almost police matter lol...someone was RUDE to me on the phone. Yep that's all it took to be reduced to a snivelling wreck! So thanks for asking that question sues, means I can have a good old moan before I die of embarrassment!

SpannerPants · 23/12/2010 15:30

I'm crying at everything at the moment. One of my patients (age 91) was telling me about his wife dying last year after they had been married for 70 years and I was in floods of tears - not very professional!

I'm also crying at less emotional things like the dfs advert (wtf?!) and the thought of having to do my Christmas food shopping tomorrow Blush

Ivegotmrbitey · 23/12/2010 16:08

Hello everyone, I am crying at the drop of a hat at the moment but Elllie Goulding's song from the John Lewis advert guarantees a howl!

I am making the most of Christmas with baking thiings I wouldn't ususaly eat as always on a diet. Yesterday was shortbread, today I am making a chocolate log Xmas Grin.

honeybabymoon · 23/12/2010 16:30

Cant say I am crying all the time yet but still feeling sick. I will try the frozen grapes they sound lovely. Might put the clementines in the freezer too actually.

Can I ask if we can have mulled wine? DH says no but others say that a little is fine as most of the alcohol has evaporated.
I dont drink the rest of the year as I dont like alcohol, the only thing i drink all year is mulled wine and a glass of champagne if its a special occasion and sad to be missing out this year:(
If not I will have to go with the cordial plus hot water suggestion.

SpannerPants · 23/12/2010 16:37

I don't think one glass of mulled wine would do you or the baby any harm honeybabymoon?

I'm going to have a glass of champagne with my Christmas dinner and at New Year and I refuse to feel guilty about it.

OIckletownofbethlehem · 23/12/2010 18:28

Ooh Mrbitey that all sounds yum - all I've done is roasted some chestnuts and then tore my fingernails to shreds trying to peel them! Don't even want to eat them now

How did the chocolate log turn out, is it yummy...go on describe it! Ooohh cake.....

I also refuse to believe that just one (or two) glasses of mulled wine could be catastrophic.....

nicolamumof3 · 23/12/2010 18:38

Afternoon all had a v vague phonecall from midwife saying she would leave message with hospital about my scan not holding out much hope there!! So so glad Xmas almost here and can rest with no more panicking About what I haven't got!!

How many are cooking Xmas dinner this year? My dh is a chef and he usually cooks but this year going out and really looking forward to it

buttonmoon78 · 23/12/2010 20:13

Well, lots of scans to look forward to by the sounds of it! Good luck everyone.

I'm signing off until Jan. We've got lots of relatives staying over Christmas itself then off on holiday for a week so I don't think I'll be doing much in the way of Mning.

Merry Christmas everyone - I hope those who are sharing the news are excited!

cara2244 · 23/12/2010 20:53

Sues I get tearful at anything to do with kids, especially sick ones or adverts.

I'm having Bucks fizz on Christmas day.

squirrel007 · 23/12/2010 20:55

Hi all! Am trying (and failing!) to keep up with this thread :)

honeybabymoon I reckon a cup of mulled wine will be fine :) I plan to have a glass of fizz on xmas day.

As for crying... I cried this evening because I was grumpy and snappy at DH, who just ignored my grumpiness and made me dinner. I felt very undeserving. And I cried over the thread in the pregnancy forum about tips for the first weeks with your newborn Blush

Is anyone else not having the nuchal scan and blood test? I originally said I would, but then changed my mind and am thinking that maybe it's best not to bother. I'm not really sure what I'd do with the information and it's just another thing to worry about.

sues1974 · 23/12/2010 22:23

hi
Id of cried too scottygirl, i used to get upset if someone had had a go at me on the phone at work when i was younger but got used to it in the end. thankfully im not in telephone banking anymore or else id of been going through a lot of tissues!

so muhc nice food around at the moment and i havnt got an appetite for anything, i force myself to eat cos i feel sick if i dont but could quite happily not eat at all, last time i was constantly hungry and put 6lbs on straight away, this time i have so far lost a pound or 2! still cant get into my trousers and jeans though :O

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 23/12/2010 22:25

Hi ladies, had my scan today, have been put back to 10+6 so couldn't have all the tests etc with a new due date of 15 July. Baby was all wriggly and it was lovely to see that there is something in there!! Have to go back on the 6th jan for another scan. Hope everyone is ready for Santa, I am definitely not!!! Dd is 15 months today, so it doesn't matter that we still don't even have a tree up and I havent wrapped a present yet! Oh well, will be busy tomorrow!!

MadAboutTheBoys · 23/12/2010 22:46

Congrats notnearlyasblondasIwas and the others that have had scans in the last week. So pleased that all is well and you can spend Christmas knowing there is definitely somebody else with you Smile Welcome also to the newbies - lovely to have you aboard. I love that we've got some honeymoon babies - so romantic!

We're madly trying to get everything ready for Christmas. 'Only' have to finish tidying the whole house and get a load of washing on before bed tonight. But then get to hopefully see our little bean at the scan tomorrow morning.

Oickletown thanks for your offer of a listening ear. Don't want to take over the thread, but will see how things go in the New Year and may be calling on you to see if you're still in a listening mood! Oh and Sues thanks for remembering me Smile

Not sure if I will get on here again til after Christmas but hope you all have a lovely time.

FessaEst · 24/12/2010 07:55

Sues i am ridiculously tearful. I welled up last night at "father of the Bride 2" when the babies are born Blush and flicking through the Bounty magazine!`

Squirrel I have declined Downs testing as when I read up on it it is too vague for me and I really don't want to be in the position of deciding re: an amnio. I declined with DD after my friend had exactly that situation and got in a terrible muddle. I accepted all definitive testing eg anomaly scanning and will do so again this time. Just our decion and can totally see why others decide differently.

Good luck for scan today mad.

Happy Christmas to those signing off for a bit Xmas Smile

nicolamumof3 · 24/12/2010 10:24

Morning all!

Squirrel, i too am not having nuchal. DH and i decided we would continue regardless and wouldn't want to go through amnio either.

Just had call from hospital got my 12week scan..not til 17th Jan! I will be 14+2 then Xmas Grin

Hope everyone has a lovely lovely christmas xx

HighFibreDiet · 24/12/2010 13:21

Hi everyone. I have been crying loads but it was my grandad's funeral yesterday so I had a good excuse Sad.

I am also not having a nuchal scan. I'll be around 12 wks when we move to Oz and I bet it will take us a few weeks to sort out Medicare by which time it will be too late, but I don't really mind missing it. I didn't have one last time either as I knew I wouldn't want to have an amnio, CVS or termination at that point even with high risk for genetic abnormalities. Plus I agree with FessaEst about the uncertainties being too high. I will have the anomaly scan though as I think the things they look for at that point are worth knowing about before the baby is born, and I like to find out the sex for planning purposes - plus it's lovely to get the photos. :)

I had a glass of mulled wine the other day. I don't think one glass will hurt and I don't really like the DoH blanket warnings 'just in case' some pregnant woman takes it too far. Smacks a little too much of a nanny state to me. I would prefer to be given a measured assessment of the risks and be left to make my own decision - but maybe that's the scientist in me.

Just wanted to ask what people are wearing if you're trying to hide your thickening waistline? I have a family do coming up and I really don't want it to be too obvious because I'm not planning on any announcements until after we've left the country and I certainly don't want to spend the whole day justifying why we are having a fourth child. At the moment my favourite clothes are my NYDJ jeans which seem to squash my tummy a little but are still really comfy - but they are far too worn out to be suitable for a family Christmas do, especially as my sil and my fil's partner usually look pretty stylish whatever the occasion.

Eglu · 24/12/2010 13:36

Sues Crying at my DB's wedding was expected I suppose, but my hormones are so mad that I cried the other day because we didn't have any cream in the fridge and I really wanted a creamy sauce with my pasta. I full on cried with tears and everything Blush

I would really like someone to beat that one.

LadyGoneGaga · 24/12/2010 15:35

I just cried because DS bit me on the nose with his dinosaur and it really hurt! Bless him, he was very concerned.

Dresses/long tops and thick tights or leggings seem best for hiding a bump.

My nuchal scan is booked for 12 Jan. I have to go private but think is worth it for the reassurance. They also spend loads of time doing it and explain everything really well and give you a lovely DVD of the scan so worth it for that!

nicolamumof3 · 24/12/2010 16:02

agree lady gg with the clothes thats what im wearing tomorrow oh and tonight and boxing day Xmas Grin missing my skinny jeans already.

well i just had a nasty fall. Right down the stairs from the top feeling very bruised.

Scottygirl10 · 24/12/2010 18:24

Oh nicolamum that sounds sore :( wanting to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and happy sober new year! Lol had 12 week scan today, little beany wriggling about on screen, lovely sight :) feel like I can relax now! God bless us, everyone! Sorry, cheesy ;) x

sues1974 · 24/12/2010 19:54

hiya
Eglu you definitely win with the cream! lol. Anyone watch one born every minute tonight, tissues at the ready as babies are born.
Hope youre ok Nicola.
How lovely that you had your scan today Scottygirl. ive got a private one next Friday and really worried that there wont be a heartbeat, i suppose its just normal to worry.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas day and doesnt suffer from ms, tiredness or heartburn!
Have a good one :)

highheelsandequations · 24/12/2010 19:55

nicola hope you're okay after fall.

Well finally had booking app and scan today. Bit of an anticlimax as Pip refused to move at all, sonographer reckoned baby was asleep, and had dates put back from 11+5 to 11+2. So not feeling as relaxed as I'd thought I was going to as worrying about the lack of movement and measurements smaller than should be. Someone tell me I'm being daft?!?

Anyway, I still have to ice my cake and tidy the house ready for tomorrow, why did I offer to host Christmas dinner????

Merry Christmas all Xmas Smile
