I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:

Fab news on the good scans, Buttonmoon and Hefner - course it's fine to stick around, Button!

inbetweener · 21/12/2010 18:52

I FEEL SICK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am fed up with it !! Im only 9+2 when will it stop !!!!!!!!

I just want to cry its so bloody horrible !!! Im hungry yet if food is put in front of me I cant eat it !! I want to enjoy my xmas and my xmas dinner but I feel so sick!!!!

Sorry for rant just feel so rubbish Sad

honeybabymoon · 21/12/2010 20:01

Inbetweener I have felt sick all the time too and we are very close in dates. I normally love my food but even the thought of it makes me feel sick. I did some reading on here and it seems that people were recommending to eat something small regularly or as soon as you feel sick. Was hard at first but over the past few hours seems to be working. Particularly clementines and the super sweet pink lady apples for me. Even just a couple of bites. However this may bring on a whole new problem... how much weight are we meant to be gaining per week now?!
Hope it helps or you start to feel better soon.

I also have a question about scans. I was offered a combined scan is that the same as the Nuchal scan? How do I find out if its offered in my area?

Thanks!

Fraochsmum · 21/12/2010 20:08

Well I found you guys...and you're already pages in!! Really don't have enough time to read through them all, but sounds like most people are doing well and getting good scans etc. Sorry you feel so bad inbetweener x
I still haven't felt sick, in fact, I have had no symptoms whatsoever for about 3 weeks. I had been feeling v pg, but it has all gone. Got a scan on Fri so really looking forward to that! Apart from seeing monkey again, I'll find out exactly how far on I am and a due date!
A wee question to those who are offered a nuchal scan - is that because blood tests have shown a high risk, or is it just a matter of course? Our unit do a blood test (if wanted) and you can chose to have an amnio if the results are high.
I had a work night out on Friday and drove - using the excuse that DH had a work night out after and couldn't get a baby sitter so would have to tag-team. It worked too!
Finally got our decorations up today, so feeling a little more festive. Hope everyones plans are going well xxx

buttonmoon78 · 21/12/2010 20:23

Hi Fraochsmum. Our unit are rolling it out as a standard thing after New Year so I guess for most people it will be just a standard thing. AFAIK the bloods are done a bit later but the nuchal thing has a very time specific window which is usually over before the bloods would be done IYKWIM?

I shall update the stats another time then showing my new date.

I'll stick around to keep you company ickle!

buttonmoon78 · 21/12/2010 20:41

Oh - how could I forget!? News on my shiney uterus!!!

Apparently my shiney bit is actually a fibroid. It's a 3 x 2.5 x 2.5cm fibroid.

Midwife said it was nothing to worry about but I'd probably end up having a hysterectomy later in life Hmm! Wally. However I then came home and googled fibroids in pg.

Cue much panicking! Am feeling better now though.

Anyhoo. I'm guessing you're no longer jealous!

FessaEst · 21/12/2010 20:51

Our screening combines a blood test and a scan of the nuchal fold (both done at the same time - 12 weeks). These 2 results are combined to give you a risk factor - high or low, and if you are high risk you can opt for an amnio. Low risk is not no risk. I think I will opt not to have the bloods or nuchal scan like I did with DD. It seems a bit odd that the privsion is so different in different areas doesn't it?!

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 21:17

Cheers button. You must stay off the t'interweb apart from MN until you stop worrying! I've been told something similar although no shiny bits identified yet!

Fraochsmum, for what its worth, I was asked if I wanted to have a nuchal at my scan yesterday. Didn't even realise they did it but was pleased as privately its circa £200 where I live.

Although nuchal was fine, I'm still waiting for screening test from bloods taken at booking in. I didn't realise that they don't release the screening results (by post unless abnormal)until after the scan.

So actually I'm a bit confused myself - if the nuchal was fine, I'm not sure why I'm waiting for the screening results unless they show something different?

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 21:18

Ah, just Fessa's post, the nuchal fold thingy is only one part of screening test - suddenly clear!

buttonmoon78 · 21/12/2010 21:26

Blush I know, I know! How often have I told someone the very same thing?!

In the end I found a proper medical website which said that a lot of the studies which these 'facts' are based on have been utterly discredited so I am all chilled now.

It is true to say though that there's an increased risk of c-section.

Oh, and that they're more common in ladies wot are a bit larger Blush Though I'm only a size 14-6. Hardly a proper heifer!

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 22:12

We sound terribly alike button. I don't think of myself as a full on heifer either but I'm definately very cuddly!

Sounds like a useful website though, I'm not too phased by a Csection either, if its necessary.

cara2244 · 21/12/2010 22:38

inbetweener I can totally empathise - I was so ill from the beginning of December, to the point where just functioning like a normal human being was almost impossible! BUT I started to actually feel better on Sunday, just like that. I was about 10+6 then. No more vomitting, appetite back with a vengeance. Tiredness and occasional slight sicky feelings but that's it. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Now I just have to catch up on the tonne of things I have missed at work and home...

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the weird dreams :)

I have now progressed from the MS stage to the arguing with partner stage (someone mentioned this on the last thread, can't remember who). We had a huge row tonight over nothing, that I think was really over him feeling replaced by this baby and wanting things to stay as they are - me, him and our son. :(

I ate a McDonalds today!!! I have literally been dreaming about fillet o fish meals for a few days now. I felt so guilty taking LO in so we ate one of their little bags of fruit first. Then he demolished chips dipped in ketchup. I didn't tell the MIL as I am always very righteous about what LO eats and she would have a field day if she found out!

Congrats on everyone for the scans. Still no date. Am I actually pregnant I wonder?!?!? Given that I had to sit through our school play tonight with my jeans undone, and that still felt too tight, I probably am.

inbetweener I really hope you get better soon. It's only now I feel better that I really just how poorly I was. Anyone who says MS is all in the mind has clearly never had it. I have never in my life been that ill for 3 weeks!!

cara2244 · 21/12/2010 22:38

PS: what's chat??

cara2244 · 21/12/2010 22:42

I am now about to go and make my 2nd chesse sandwich of the evening Blush

tebbles · 21/12/2010 23:21

OIckletownofbethlehem Were you told you would get blood test results by post?

I was told that I wouldnt get anything by post (they said it is because they often go missing which seems an excuse as I have got every appointment letter posted so far). They said if the results were of a concern they would phone, otherwise I wouldnt hear anything until the 20 week scan.

I didnt ask any further questions at the time but now Im a bit worried as that scan is 8 weeks away. Also there is a good chance I will be leaving the country and not returning until after the birth. Will I not get any results at all then?

Does my GPO get copies of the blood/urine test results? I will be seeing him in a month.

Am I am to request a copy from the hospital?

Can anyone help as cam getting all worried about this!! It just feels that I have had loads of blood and urine taken for no reason at this stage....am worried that they might have gotten lost!!

tebbles · 21/12/2010 23:22

sorry GPO = GP

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/12/2010 11:55

Morning everyone, thanks for kind replies. I spoke to my mum last night on the phone and she suggested getting my GP to refer me for the scan so that is what I am doing tomorrow morning. Feel a bit silly for wanting my mum so badly, I mean am 31 years old! I do feel so much less lonely for speaking to her though and pleased to have some good advice.

inbetweener I hope you feel better soon, it's hideous isn't it? The only thing that makes me feel better is eating even though while being sick I think I don't wnat to eat. Very weird. The only thing that settled my stomach this morning was a glass of flat coke. I know it has caffeine in but am justifying to myself in that I am not drinking tea of coffee.

Oh, had this recommended on another thread for those missing mulled wine. Bottle green spiced berries cordial served with hot water is really really good I am on my second cup and feel so Christmassy. Thanks muser!

Twit · 22/12/2010 12:12

HI all, Ihope today finds you as well as possible.

Have you tried flat lemonade as well? I found that brilliant when I started getting a buzz (literally) in my head after too much coke.
Also try freezing it in ice cube trays.
I am still waiting for a response. Reading about people getting nuchal scans etc is getting me thinking as well; I'm 35 so I might well be advised to have one?
Unfortunately the window is small for that one so they need to hurry up if I do need to.

WRT blood tests etc, I believe if you hear nothing all is well, at least that is how it has been for me - if there is something they will (usually) be really quick at getting back to you.

OIckletownofbethlehem · 22/12/2010 13:25

Hi tebbles. Its clear from other responses (including on last thread)that all areas are different. I was told result of blood and urine at time of scan (no anaemia, no protein, O+ etc...)but not the screening results which will come by post now I've atually had the scan, unless results are abnormal in which case, I'll receive a phone call.

I think you should definately call your midwife on the contact details provided at your booking in if all this wasn't fully explained.

Will you not be seeking antenatal care where you move to? If its a armed forces move, the result will be passed on (ex pad's brat here). If not, will it not depend on your plans?

If your area is anything like mine, I will only see the GP/any doctor if something goes wrong or I am ill. Otherwise everything is led by the Community midwives. In my case, the GP would only see results of blood/urine if something was odd and I needed additional (i.e. prescriptive) care.

I agree though, I feel like I've provided rather a lot of bodily fluids so far!

OIckletownofbethlehem · 22/12/2010 13:30

Hi Cara - 'chat' is one of the other sub topics under 'Talk: Topics'. There are loads of discussion boards. You can occasionally stumble across some real doozies!

Fraochsmum · 22/12/2010 16:14

Thanks for all the replies ladies! I guess it could be something that has been rolled out since last year - they didn't do a 20 week scan when I was pg, but if you were booked after 28th Sept 2009 then you got one. I will ask on Friday.
All the blood tests I had taken last time, I was told I would hear by phone if there were any problems. After quite a few tests (and nothing being mentioned at consequent checks), I asked if they were all ok? "Oh, yes." was the reply! Guess I'll just worry if the phone rings Xmas Wink
Never mind button it's still something quite different! When I was pg a red thing appeared on my navel - gp said it was a varicose vein caused by matter left over from my own cord Xmas Shock Bit mingin but totally disappeared after baby.

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 22/12/2010 18:17

Hi ladies just checking into our new home. Have my scan tomorrow and am really really nervous. Is not until 4.15, so have to wait all day. Have been manically busy, spent most of today helping dh plump the kitchen, were hoping to be in the house for Christmas but isn't happening Sad - congratulations to all those who already have had their scans and will attemp to catch up with the thread now!

Eglu · 22/12/2010 18:35

Hello everyone. Thought I would add a quick post to the new thread.

Congrats to all of those who have had their scans.

Despite now being 12 weeks I am still incredibly tired so finding it hard to keep up with this thread.

I was at my brothers wedding on Monday and cried through the whole thing, including my reading. Very embarassing! It was a beautiful day though.

On pg news I have told work now, as my boss goes on ML on Christmas Eve. I also got my 20 week scan date in the post today. Looking forward to 16th Feb.

cara2244 · 22/12/2010 20:19

I have just remember something that helped with ms last time - frozen grapes ! You suck them for a bit then chew. Sounds weird but they did help.

sues1974 · 22/12/2010 21:56

Evening ladies, going on from what eglu said about crying at her brothers wedding all day i thought id ask what makes you cry when pregnant?
FOr me apart from the usual like sad or happy things on tele ive found myself crying everytime the pogues and kirsty mcCall come on the radio with Fairytale of New York. then today as i was walking through the train station a 4 peice brass band were playing carols really beautifully and i started to choke up!
All stuff that id normally thinks aw thats nice but wouldnt want to blub about!
Whats your emotional trigger?
suz xx
