MadAboutTheBoys · 19/12/2010 12:28

I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 10:56

Cheers gaga and nicola, jut shows that all the worrying was for nought! Am happy and relieved!

JazzS · 21/12/2010 10:59

Hi All - is it too late for me to join? I'm 10+3 today (1st child, 29 years old) and very nervously awaiting my scan on the 30th Dec.
Felt compelled to respond to the dreams posts - until falling pregnant I never remembered dreams but now I'm having the most vivid, weird dreams ever. I keep waking up upset because I dreamt I've been smoking and feeling hideously guilty, even though I quit when I found out I was pregnant! How bizarre...

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 11:01

Hey Jigglebum, try not to panic. If you're really worried though surely that's what the urgent number is for?

Lack of cramps etc...is promising and as any of the ladies with DC's on this thread will tell you, no two pgs seem to be the same.

Could you not try and see how things are over the next few hours and if still showing, then try the emrgency no then if still can't get through?

Ivegotmrbitey · 21/12/2010 11:10

Hello jazzs welcome aboard! I dreamt last night I was smoking too! I kept lighting them, loving them and then remembering the baby and putting them out. Very very odd, I stopped as soon as I got the BFP too. In fact in real life I could happily murder my husband when I smell smoke on his breath from fifty paces!

jigglebum if you are worried I would count that as urgent. It may lead to a reassuring converstion with a midwife and then you can relax.

My booking in appointment got cancelled yesterday because of the snow and now isn't until the 17th of Jane when I will be nearly thirteen weeks. I have no idea when the first scan will be. I am so anxious about this, I was under the impression that you had to have the first scan as close to twelve weeks as possible. I have a very close family history of a serious birth defect (sister's baby boy) and am getting desperate for some reassurance. Matters aren't helped by parents being four weeks in to a seven week trip to Australia (visiting aforementioned and now in perfect health nephew) and I really want my mum [Sad]. Sorry to go on, bit down today.

honeybabymoon · 21/12/2010 12:02

Hi, Can I join this group? Clueless first time mum 9 weeks pregnant with our honeymoon baby (not planned!). CLearly even more clueless as I thought as I dont understand all the abbreviations and dont know whether I am 9+... or anything so I shall go and look this all up. Really pleased to meet you all!

Pesha · 21/12/2010 12:06

Very quick post as supposed to be Doing Things, will post properly tonight hopefully.

I have a very strange vibrating sensation in my pelvis, well it's mostly at the front where my pubic bone is but can also feel it in my back a bit at times too. Has been coming and going all day. Anyone else had anything like this? Could it be SPD related? My SPD has returned already, specially after walking in the snow or sitting on the floor wrapping presents! Or is it just a muscle spasm thing? Is very strange and quite unnerving!

JazzS · 21/12/2010 13:11

Honeybabymoon - Me too, honeymoon first baby as well! We had decided to "see what happened" after the wedding in October, happily went off on two week honeymoon and came home "up the duff".
I'm very new too and still perplexed by all the YANBU and such like - any ideas anyone?

HighFibreDiet · 21/12/2010 13:32

Hello again, thanks for your welcomes. cara it's good to know there are some poses that help with morning sickness, and I'm a runner too so it looks like supta virasana is a great pose for me to try. nicolamumof3 I don't envy you having to do breakfast for the boys. I tried training my older two to make themselves breakfast (scrambled eggs or porridge can both be easily made in the microwave) but they seem to have slipped out of the habit since dp has been around to do it for them.

Welcome to jazzs. I found the mumsnet antenatal group really helpful last time round - not everyone in real life wants to hear about every little pregnancy niggle but here you have a readymade support group!

And I have also been having very intense dreams. Not about the pregnancy (yet) but they might come.

Sorry to hear pesha about your vibrating pubic bone and about your spd returning. To be honest the spd was what put me off another pregnancy but here I go... I'm determined to be more active this time round as despite the antenatal yoga, I think the spd made me stop doing loads of exercise I usually do, and then the delivery wasn't as brilliant as the first two had been. Anyway, as someone pointed out above, each time is different so I will try not to anticipate too many problems.

Better stop waffling. Thinking of you all. Xmas Smile

FessaEst · 21/12/2010 13:55

You are most at risk of SPD returning between 12-14 weeks apparently due to a surge in progesterone (acc to my physio), after that the risk decreases again until you get further along.

Re: the abbreviations, at the top of this thread there are lots of tabs, click on the one that says acronyms - that should explain all. (YANBU - you are not being unreasonable).

LadyGoneGaga · 21/12/2010 14:09

Jigglebum def call the urgent number - I would want to get the EPU and have an early scan before Christmas for reassurnace if I were you. It's really not worth torturing yourself over if you are feeling worried.

Welcome to Jazzs and Honeybabymoon*. YANBU is You are not being unreasonable. Yabu is You are being unreasonable. Can you let us know your due dates/add yourselves to the stats and then we can work out how many weeks/days you are.

HighFibrediet I am a runner but haven't run a step since BFP. Don't think I will be doing either . I ran the Paris Marathon in April but am atrophying away quietly now! My plan is to enter London in 2012 to motivate myself back to fitmess - I have a guaranteed entry due to fast time at Paris so have to use it before it expires. Mad to think this time last year I was doing long runs and now i'm doing nothing!

I did pregnancy yoga last time, starting about 16 weeks I think once all the nausea and tiredness receded. Really helped minor aches, pains and niggles so would def recommend. Loved doing cat pose.

MrBitey do you get nuchal scans on NHS in your area? That's the one that screens for Downs and otehr chromosomal disorders. That one IS time dependent and has to be done between 11.5 and 13 weeks 6 days I think. If is just a normal dating scan they offer then they can be more lax with timings. I'm having the Nuchal done privately as they don't offer on NHS where I am.

Pesha have not experienced that. Couldn't be early movements though, could it? I know you're meant to feel movement earlier with second or later babies. I can't wait to feel movements again.

Hope everyone else is well.

honeybabymoon · 21/12/2010 14:27

Thank you for the welcomes! Looking through the abbreviations its like learning a new language! Jazzs lovely to meet someone in the same position!
We worked out baby was conceived 31st october. Think that gives an end of July date?
There is so much to learn and read that I might try to find the antenatal group. Trying also to find other mumstobe in my area (west london). Thank you for the support certainly is taking my mind of the nausea!

JazzS · 21/12/2010 14:40

LadyGoneGaGa - have added myself to the list (right hopefully Smile)
honeybabymoon - I think they work it out from your missed period date, not conception.

honeybabymoon - Ah sorry just checked, not missed period, the date of your last period. I'm learning! Smile

honeybabymoon · 21/12/2010 15:16

Yes you are right it is date of last period but I dont remember:( The GP asked me too. I thought I was good to know the date of conception but all the calculators want is the date of last period. Ive tried to back engineer it and I think EDD (!) ends up 24th/25th July but happy to go with the maths of someone wiser :)

LadyGoneGaga · 21/12/2010 15:27

Hi Jazzs that would then make you 10+3 (10 weeks and 3 days) I think?

And Honeybabymoon I work out my due date from ovulation date as my cycles are irregular and NOT the standard 28 days. But I chart temps etc so am sure when I ovved.(And was confirmed by the vaibility scan yesterday, only one day out). But taking Halloween as your ovulation date gives you a due date of 24th July and makes you 9+2. However, you can get pregnant from having sex a few days before ovulation as the sperm can hang sound so may not be exactly accurate unless you wer charting/using OPK's?

But dates from LMP or ov will only give you an idea. The dating scan at 12 weeks will confirm your due date and is the one that will be used for everything else. Hope that helps! Xmas Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 21/12/2010 15:28

Ah cross post, Honeybabymoon - glad to see you came up with same dates as me!

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 16:10

Hugs to mrbitey that stinks. I think 13+6 might be an issue of you're having a nuchal too but then your MW will know that surely. With the family history is it not worth a bit of foot stamping?

OIckletownofbethlehem · 21/12/2010 16:13

Hi to all the newbies - feels starnge saying that as I am a (very) novice MNer myself. In fact I'm only just venturing onto to other talk topics - there is a real bun fight going on over on'chat', looks like someone has just been kicked off MN, although I can't really tell as MNHQ appears to be deleting posts as fast as they can be written!

If ever you needed some distraction, you should head over there and check it out - its all v. 'citing!!

Thanks to OIckle and Spannerpants for the good luck wishes. I've had my scan and saw a little one with a heartbeat, I'm so relieved! It looks like I'm only 10+1 so I've got to go back in a couple of weeks for the nuchal scan. Can't wait to tell my family over christmas.

I'm glad your scan went well too OIckle, I definitely think you should stay with us on the July thread despite your dates changing!

Hi to all newbies and hugs to those who currently need them.

Went for my scan yesterday and have been told I'm 7+4. This gives me an EDD of 04/08 but as I'm likely to be induced again 2 weeks early does anybody have any objections if I stick around here? I don't really want to have to make a whole bunch of new friends!

Other than a slight Hmm at the dates, everything else is fine. Have done a little research into stats and apparently at this stage, once you've heard the heartbeat it is as likely now to lose it as at 20 weeks (ie v unlikely) so we're going to tell the families over Christmas. We've never told until after the 12 wk scan before so it all feels a little new!

Am v curious to see what's happening in Chat. Will be back later. Probably sporting a black eye or two...

OIckle - I'm too new to wade in but I have wasted about 2 hours just now watching that kick off (lurking?) - who knew this was all so full on! Considering I am supposed to be working from home, it's been a complete distraction and so fascinating I didn't notice myself polishing off the choccy biscuits!

LadyGoneGaGa - sounds right to me thank you Smile . Cannot wait for the scan on the 30th!

Congrats to hefner and button! Xmas Smile

Button, I am gracioulsy being tolerated although have sliped into end of June - I too can not bear to depart! Please stay so I won't be the only one.

JazzS I know what you mean - I ACTUALLY burnt dinner trying to figure out just what the bejasus was going on - terribly distracting! Now back to work while I peel more potatoes to start the mash again!
