MadAboutTheBoys · 19/12/2010 12:28

I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissLolita · 20/12/2010 13:26

Gosh Gruffalo, that's amazing! I was supposed to have done all sorts of things this weekend (Christmas cards, wrapping, shopping etc) but I decided to use my energy burst to make a fabric hot air balloon instead. I do recognise that this is a curious past time but I had this idea in my head and it was bursting to get out! Dh was not particularly impressed as I haven't bought him any presents yet as I have claimed to be too tired to go to the shops....oh well! :)

OIckletownofbethlehem · 20/12/2010 14:12

that's brilliant gaga - fantastic news. Was hoping mine was to be too but just had phonecall from DH who is now snowed in at work 15 miles away! He abandoned the car and his boss drove both of them to another venue (he's an events manager) to help out at a wedding seeing as DH's venue has had to close down.

Now unlikely, seeing as he is at the mercy of his boss, to make it home in time for scan and I can't arrange a cab. The buses are also not running. The hospital is only about 4 miles away, I'm wondering if I can walk it but don't know if that's stupid. Still suffering from after effects of flu but CAN NOT wait any longer for this scan.

Sorry - didn't mean to moan, just a bit upset.

LadyGoneGaga · 20/12/2010 14:30

Oickle that's rubbish. Could a kindly neighbour take you or something? Or could you rearrange? Grrr.

nicolamumof3 · 20/12/2010 14:36

oh oikle i'd be beside myself too, hopefully someone can give you a lift?

MissLolita · 20/12/2010 14:39

OIckle where are you based? Is there anyone who can give you a lift?

sues1974 · 20/12/2010 15:34

Oh my god gruffalo you are superwoman.
Great news ladygonegaga on the brilliant scan.
im excited and nervous as just booked a private nuchal scan, its on NYE so hope it all goes well as were going out that night.
£195 - ouch but as i said to hubby we havnt got the outlay like we had with our first as
baby No2 will use DS cot/pram etc. just going to buy a 2nd hand double pushchair.
falling my ms didnt start till just before 9 weeks either, funny how we were saying we wish we could have symptoms then you wish them away again. ive only actualy had it bad for 1 week, and am feeling better again now. i even managed to go to a christmas ball on saturday nigth and stayed till nearly 1am, couldnt believe it, was then up at 6.30 too with my DS as hubby slept off his hangover. must say im all on the keep my eyes open today though.
xx

HighFibreDiet · 20/12/2010 16:54

Hi everyone can I join in? Went for a scan today to confirm dates and I am 10+1 with my fourth pregnancy, due 17 July. It will be a busy year as we are planning to emigrate to Australia in the New Year (assuming the flights are all okay) so that also means I may only be on the thread sporadically depending on internet access. But I am desperate to 'talk' to someone about this as the only person who knows in rl is dp ... plus his sister has recently had a miscarriage and I can't help feeling a little guilty that ours is still okay.

As with all the previous pregnancies I have had terrible morning sickness for ages but dp is not working at the moment so has done nearly all the school runs and cooking for me. Not all the dirty nappies though (ds3 is 2 1/2 and has had a dodgy tummy for a while).

Cara I did antenatal yoga in all previous pregnancies - but only once the morning sickness and terrible fatigue had calmed down a little. I really recommend the specific pregnancy classes as the teachers know how much you can push yourself and which positions are suitable or which need to be adapted. In my first pregnancy I knew a few mums who carried on going to normal yoga classes and it sounded like the teachers expected too much of them. If you can't make it to a class, there are DVDs available and a Janet Balaskas book called something like 'Easy Exercises in Pregnancy' which I think is based on yoga poses.

Also you can sign up for the Active Birth e-mail newsletter which recommends certain poses from time-to-time (like the cat stretch and tailor sitting, although the latter was difficult for me with bad spd). Apologies if you know all this already as I've just noticed you are on your second pregnancy Blush. Unfortunately, I don't recall any particular poses that helped with morning sickness.

Dynababy · 20/12/2010 17:18

I had some good news today, went for an early scan (I'm 9 + 4) and baba measured just right for dates was already kicking and moving and had hearbeat .. so releived and means I'm going to tell my family on Christmas day! Xmas Grin Really happy!!

Glad yours wrent well too ladygonegaga its so good to see the heartbeat .. even though all i could make out were kicking legs and beating heart .. rest wasn't that clear but a bit early!

Hope the MS calms down for everyone soon .. its no fun, i just need to be careful when brushing my teeth as thats the danger zone - other than that just feel bleeuurggh but only actually sick when brushing teeth!

LadyGoneGaga · 20/12/2010 17:33

Great news, Dynababy! We could see our babies body moving but just limb buds so far. Very lovely though especially when she let me listen to the heartbeat. Grin

Got booked in today, they took gallons of blood!

emmywoo · 20/12/2010 18:30

Hi All,
Well the flu has definatly taken hold and feel dreadful. Was due to have my booking in app yesterday but had to cancel it as couldnt get out of bed. Dr did a home visit today and said that she couldnt rule out swine flu so has prescribed me some tamiflu for pregnant women which is an inhaler form of it. Just fed up of it now.
xxxxx

hefner · 20/12/2010 19:14

It's lovely to hear all the good news from scans. I've got mine tomorrow, meant to be a 12 week scan but I think I'm probably more like 10 weeks. I'm getting really nervous now, I really hope everything is ok. I'll feel so much better if we see a little heartbeat.

hefner · 20/12/2010 19:16

Hope you feel better soon emmywoo.

itsTwiiiiitmaaaaasss · 20/12/2010 19:38

HI all, great news on the scans, I phoned the dr again to find out about the mw getting back to be and the swine flu & flu jab, they have taken my details again and said the mw was actually there today so I should hear from them soon?
I have been sleeping in the afternoons most days now, the ick is wearing off a bit, but hits me every now and again.

we're meant to be going to the ils on christmas eve, and I really don't want to. sigh.

highheelsandequations · 20/12/2010 20:14

Great news on the scans Xmas Grin

Finally have my date for booking and 12 week scan, had to phone as think letter is in the post somewhere, but have scan and appointment on Friday. Perfect timing to (fingers crossed) reassure me before Christmas!

Has anyone had the flu jab yet? Was it okay?

cara2244 · 20/12/2010 21:01

Congrats on everyone for their safe scans!

Are people getting the flu jab? MIL told me today that I've 'got to have it' (hmm, haven't even been for my booking appt with the midwife yet). She also told me I've 'got to' have the baby at their local hospital so we can drop LO off on the way....I explained I wanted (another) homebirth... You'll notice as my posts go on that my MIL gives me lots of advice, much of which I ignore.

I'm still feeling marginally better which is brilliant. I remember last time things eased off around 10 weeks. I am now a functioning human being. To whoever said about looking rough - I am avoiding mirrors as I am pale and have spots at the mo!!

Highfibre thanks for the advice - I will definitely sign up for the active birth centre email. I had their birthing ball last time, which was brilliant, and their bath oils and tummy rub oils. I have actually started practising again the last couple of days and found 2 poses recommended for MS - parvatasana and supta virasana. All the reclining poses are meant to be good too, and the seated. I have a fantastic yoga teacher who took me through my firest pregnancy and am going to try my best to make it to her weekly. I am convinced my lovely pregnancy and (relatively) easy birth were down to yoga.

emmywoo get well soon :)

cara2244 · 20/12/2010 21:03

BTW, is anyone else having a combination of truly bizarre and horribly scary dreams about pregnancy at the moment?!?!

nicolamumof3 · 20/12/2010 21:19

high fibre we are due same day and i also have three ds already!! aged 11yr, 5 (next week) and 3.5yr!

feeling Sad dh snowed in at work i hate sleeping on my own..oh and getting up with the dc's and doing breakfast with ms yuck!

OIckletownofbethlehem · 20/12/2010 22:33

Hi all,

Transport problem resolved, DH made it home after much snow shoving and more angst on my part - I would have walked if I'd had to!!!

Lovely scan lady, brilliant pics, thumping heartbeat and a week further on than expected! The relief IS indeed phenomenal! Now 12+6 and due 29/6.

On basis that its bound to arrive late as its my first pg, does anyone object to me hanging around on this thread?

Congrats to all on scans! Hope you're feeling better soon emmywoo and good luck for tomorrow hefner.

nicolamumof3 - could the DS's not cobble together a bit of breakfast in bed for their long suffering mummy??

FessaEst · 21/12/2010 07:42

Congratulations to those with lovely scans! Brilliant Christmas presents! Am quite Envy as have got to wait until 06/01 for ours.

Cara I am having horrendouse dreams/nightmares about this pg, much worse than last time. I am really hoping it doesn't mean anything and it's just pg paranoia. I am seeing the MW tomorrow and going to talk to her about it then.

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow, or staying in safely tucked up!

SpannerPants · 21/12/2010 07:49

I've got an appointment to see my GP tomorrow to talk about the flu jab as my midwife said to wait until the second trimester but I work in a hospital which is full of flu patients and I'm on nights over the weekend so will definitely be coming into contact with it!

My GP is fab so I'm going to take his advice.

I was hoping that the tiredness would have eased by now but I still have to go to bed at 9pm every night Blush

Good luck for the scan Hefner!

LadyGoneGaga · 21/12/2010 08:32

Fab news, Oickletowan - and putting you a week ahead is brilliant! Gets you a week closer to seeing your baby. Of course stick around!

nicolamumof3 · 21/12/2010 09:17

oikle fab you are a week ahead and past the golden 12week mark congratulations!

jigglebum · 21/12/2010 10:47

hi ladies - any advice appreciated please - I have been spotting for the last 48 hours. It is only slight and noticeable only really when I wipe. It was pick ish and then last night went redder and 2 very small clots and this morning is brownish with very small clots ( bit mucus like but not much of it) Sorry if TMI.

I have tried calling the midwife a couple of times but due to the snow they are massively understaffed so it just goes to answer machine. There is an urgent no but not sure it counts as urgent or not? I don't have any cramps really or anything. I know spotting is quite common but I did not have any with DS1 so quite worried.

It could be that I have just over done it and need to rest more.

inbetweener · 21/12/2010 10:49

hello all,

Had a few days off so have been absent. I see lots of lovely scans have been had with lovely results so thats great news Grin

Im no where near the second trimester lol, im only 9+2 today and have to wait till the 6th jan for my scan but thats ok I can wait Hmm
I feel like I am getting fatter and fatter mind you !!
I have lost weight though. I just cant eat. This nausea absolutely will not bugger off. I have to eat something litterally every hour or so or I feel sick. In the evening after dinner is the worst time. I just feel this horrible swimmy stomach and have to eat a cracker to make it go away. Once I have started eating though I dont want it !!!!

Well am at work till xmas eve then off till next thursday so I cant wait ! I still have SO much to do and it looks like a couple of my deliveries from Amazon arent going to make it Sad either !!!! One of them is a pressie for DD so am going to have to rectify that !!
Then I need to do my food shop as we are eating dinner at home for the first time ever !! I usually do my food shop at 5am in the 24 Sainsburys round the corner when its nice and quiet on xmas eve but this year DH has ofered to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am stunned I am going to let him lol !!!

Right better do some work and find a biscuit as I can feel the nausea rising, which is about right as I had a banana at 9:30 Biscuit
