MadAboutTheBoys · 19/12/2010 12:28

I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

Hello ladies,

so this is where the thread's been hiding! I got completely confused after the 19th Dec death of the old one.

I've got to change my details, as I had my scan on Thursday and discovered I was 12+6 and not 12 weeks. I am now due on 22nd July and not the 28th. Bump was sooo lively, it was a very surreal but wonderful experience! And I am past the worst of the sickness, oh the joy...

Fraochsmum im in cardiff city so not much personal care goin on here, i didnt even get a early pregnancy visit i went to the GP to confirm the pregnancy an was given a number to book the dating scan myself. i didnt have a clue what i was doing, i didnt even meet my midwife then either!

So having a long wait now to c the little one again!

had a funny episode of fainting today and vomiting, ive been really luck and not vomited atal in the 1st trimester so was really worried, im thinking low iron levels bcause ive noticed i have other syptoms aswel, has anybody experienced anything like this before?

xx

LadyGoneGaga · 16/01/2011 08:15

Fainting could be a low blood pressure thing, Ali? I've had a few episodes like that. Not with vomiting though - could the light headed feeling have made you feel sick?

13 weeks today! Last week in first trimester - time has gone back to a more normal rate of progression at last. Smile

Fab123 · 16/01/2011 11:32

Hey Ali - I have very low blood pressure and I get quite wobbly if I stand too fast or haven't eaten for a bit. I used to walk (quite fast) everywhere but have really had to slow down the pace or I get very faint remarkably fast. I'd just recommend taking it easy and making sure you have something yummy to nibble and a drink in your bag, just in case! Nothing worse that getting halfway to where you need to go and thinking you just can't go on (I have an hour return trip to the Post Office to collect a parcel I missed before Xmas and have been putting it of - they won't redeliver, b*stards). I also had a morning sickness episode last week before the plumber came to fix heating - thought he'd be ringing on the door as I was blowing chunks and panicked a bit. But I haven't had it since as I think it was due to not having eaten breakfast yet and smelling ever the so slightly burn toast I was making.

I had the same with GP - didn't see or hear from anyone for weeks afterwards but then my Birthing Centre might be shutting down so I think they have other things on their minds! Confused

I'm hoping the second trimester will even out soon - some people say 14-16 weeks is the real begining so i'll be patient.

Just had to bag up about 10 skirts I can no longer fit into, depressingly as I just bought some maternity tights :(

Fab123 · 16/01/2011 11:40

Having said all that Ally my friend did ask me to get a blood test for low iron next time I have one. I'm quite pale and meat isn't my fave (not a veggie, just don't really cook it) but I love spinach and broccoli so I'm hoping that and taking my pregnancy multi vit's should be enough. Worth asking tho when you next have your bloods done as they should be able to just tick a box to check it.

highheelsandequations · 16/01/2011 13:59

Hi all,

Haven't been here much this week as still Sooooo tired and been really busy at work. I think I need to ne saying yay for stormbird's results and congrats for a few scans.

We had appointment at EPU on Tuesday and everything looked fine. Baby squirming away (relief after it just lying there at booking scan) and midwife couldn't see any cause for the spotting or any cause for concern. She couldn't get an accurate CRL as baby was trying to curl up but head measurements put me at 14+1, back to my original dates so going to leave my EDD as 11th on the list. Have also managed to record heartbeat so my family (who don't live near) have all been able to hear it. Am now trying to reduce my doppler usage to every few days rather than every evening!

I am now impatiently waiting a proper bump, I want to look pregnant rather than just like I've eaten too many biscuits!

cara2244 · 16/01/2011 21:00

a11yJ I had low iron in my first pg. You can also get breathless, dark circles under eyes and it can make you feel down as well. I managed it through diet - if you look on the net you can get a list of high iron foods. Drink juice with meals to help absorption too and don't have caffeine anywhere near mealtimes. I then had full on anemia after LO was born and iron tablets for 3 months! I used to get out of breath just climbing the stairs lol.

Had dating scan on Thursday and all was well phew. I was so nervous and worried but we saw the heart beat and that was cool.

Fab123 I went for a walk today and it hammered down with rain. The only pair of jeans that I can fit into got soaked and I had to wash them...and then wear PJ bottoms all afternoon!

I am really not enjoying this pregnancy. Such a shame as I loved being pg first time round. I've had enough of feeling tired and sick all the time :( Maybe it'll change as I go into the 2nd trimester and start to bloom :)

Hi everyone, i had a bump explosion on thursday night, good job id told everyone else at work (main boss was monday after the scan). It was very obvious on friday morning and i think people would of guessed anyway.
ALso heard the heartbeat on friday night, didnt think i would until week 16 at least but was so happy to find it, i wasnt worried that there was anything wrong, it was just lovely to hear it beating away.
well tonight i am totally exhaused as weve held a birthday party for my little boy who turns 2 on wednesday. i started cooking about 9.30am for the buffet and only got sat down tonight at 7, party was 2-4 and was running around playing with the kids. needless to say i now have backache, which i suffered with bad last time. hope it eases as theres a long way to go yet. GLad everything wend well at EPU fo you highheels
Hope everyone else is well, suz xx

Morning everyone! I've just had a marathon catch up. Glad all the scans are looking good and that nausea seems to be receding for most.

When I had dd1 (now 13.5 so in the dark ages) my gp recommended a handful of dried apricots and a pint of guinness a day Grin Worked for me - following PPH my iron levels were still mega high! Though apparently champagne has the most iron of all alcoholic drinks per ml.

Got my 3rd scan a week today when I'll be about 12+4. My belly's looking really fat now but still no proper 'bump'.

Starting a new job today. It's only 2 days a week, and even better, in school hours but I can't see them wanting me after I leave to have the baby Sad I've not told them I'm pg either but then I'm super secretive until 12 weeks. This time I was all geared up to tell people at Christmas but in the end I just chickened out!

Ivegotmrbitey · 17/01/2011 13:30

Hi all, sounds like most people are coming out of the nausea now. Mine has moved to the evenings and usually when I am cooking, I think I just get too hungry. I picked my husband up from a night out on Friday and had to stop the car and hang out of the drivers door to be sick! I was convinced I was going to get arrested for drink driving.

My twelve week scan is this afternoon! I had one at ten and a half weeksd in EPU and I can't wait to see the baby again Smile

buttonmoon I am applying for jobs now in the same place as I currently work as my contract runs out in May. I am having to keep the pg a secret and everyday panic that the bump will show beofre I get an interview. I know they are not allowed to discriminate by law but I don't trust them not to either. Dreading the big reveal when I do get a job.

Good luck with the scans! If baby isn't in the right place, try laughing - I had my first scan at 12wks 2 a couple of weeks ago and was sad that mine had it's back to us. When I laughed it was like a trampoline, so worth a try if sugary foods beforehand don't do it!

I've actually booked in for a 3D scan on 5th Feb when i'll be over 16 weeks to determine the sex. I'm far too impatient! Also I can't wait 'till 2nd March (my second NHS scan) before seeing Pea again! Anyone had one of these before?

nicolamumof3 · 17/01/2011 18:12

im back!! That was the most agonizing half hour wait of my life for that appointment. So scan went well of course. Spot on for dates. Can finally relax now and enjoy this pg i hope. Next stop 20w scan on 28th Feb. I may treat myself to a genii pillow now Grin

buttonmoon78 · 17/01/2011 18:13

Go for it! I can't wait til my scan next Monday so I can finally tell people!

nicolamumof3 · 17/01/2011 18:21

yes can tell the rest of my family and friends now and no more having to hide my tummy!

confuddledDOTcom · 17/01/2011 22:06

I'm almost jealous of people having to wait for scans! I have January off, next scan is the last Friday of Jan, then it will be at least weekly scans, three the last week of February and from about 24 weeks it will be 3 a week. Last time I kept going into labour from 23 weeks so had loads of emergency scans in the middle of the night and next morning. I'm guessing about 30 scans in this pregnancy, it gets boring!

I have been tempted to get a 3D scan just so I can have one that's relaxed and just about looking at the baby.

confuddledDOTcom · 17/01/2011 22:12

I've never held back telling people about being pregnant, I think having two bad outcomes and one being later on I know a, I'd rather have the support and b, there's no guarantee that getting through the first trimester means everything is OK.

However this time we've not told his family other than his parents and niece, his parents have told his great-aunt who lives in Wales so no one sees much of her, because his XW keeps finding out before we tell his children, so it's not on Facebook (even though most of my Facebook friends know) and we're not telling his family until his children know and we're waiting for that because they don't see me very often so we don't want it to be something that goes on forever.

DitaVonCheese · 17/01/2011 23:46

Fab I have my next scan the same date as you :) As far as I can remember from last time, they checked the spine to make sure the spinal column had formed properly (spina bifida) and all the major organs eg made sure the heart was forming properly, checked the brain, counted all the fingers and toes (!). It may vary a bit from hospital to hospital but I think that was the gist. Oh, and they will tell you the gender if they can and it's not against hospital policy. I guess they also look for soft markers for things like Down's (?). In some ways I preferred the first scan because you could see more of the actual baby - in the second one, because the baby is so much bigger, you were just looking at specific bits iyswim, though my first scan last time was a lot more detailed than the first one last time.

nicola I had a genii pillow last time and didn't like it because it was so much bloody effort to turn over, plus getting the cover on and off for washing was a nightmare. I ended up reselling on ebay (for a profit Grin). If I get one this time I think I'll just get a cheapy V-shaped one from Argos.

confuddled it really sounds as though you've been through the mill - my cousin gave birth at 30 weeks and that was stressful enough, must have been terrifying going into labour at 23 weeks. Really hope this pregnancy goes well for you and they manage to spot any problems before they get too serious.

Fab123 · 18/01/2011 00:48

Dita thanks for the info - I don't feel so bad about getting a 3D one done in the meantime now Grin It's only £70 to find out the sex a month early but I don't really like the 3D images. I hope it doesn't look too much like an alien! I had the bloods for Downs screening and they said the nuchal fold was very small from the scan so low risk. Not heard back re bloods yet(2 weeks and a bit)but guess that's not unusual with NHS.

Also good to know about the genii pillow as I admit to checking it out online after reading on here. I already have a cheapy V pillow so i'll stick with that for now and see how I go :)

P.S Anyone else absolutely addicted to One Born Every Minute? How did Lydia manage to look like a model with her hair and makeup all in place Confused Definately a great advert for the calming effects of a waterbirth!

Hello ladies :) well the flu has lifted and I have returned to work thankfully! Tho after 4 weeks of immobility (other than to put a new dvd on lol) I'm finding I'm a lot more aware of slight abdominal discomfort?? Being 16 weeks I'm putting this down to round ligament pain. Does nothing to contain my anxiety however as my last pregnancy ended in mc, very early on, but still doesn't help with the worrying! Anyone else with dull achey feelings? X
