MadAboutTheBoys · 19/12/2010 12:28

I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:

Hi all! Nice to hear all the good news on this thread, seems that everyone is more relaxed now the second trimester is just about here.

That's great news stormbird and must be such a relief for you :)

rarewelshbit hope things are ok for you too.

I had a second scan last week (the first was too early for proper dating) and it was reassuring to see everything is still looking good! Told my boss too, so now my boss knows and his boss knows, and both are happy for me. I'm pleased that things won't be awkward at work... not that I really thought they would be, but it was a niggling worry!

Also, I have just ordered some trouser hook extender things (most of my work trousers have hooks, not buttons, else I'd do the hairband trick to extend them) and a maternity bump band - hope that with these I can get through the next few awkwardly sized weeks! Am almost 14 weeks now and no sign of a bump yet, just some extra flab :)

My due date also changed, so I'm reposting the stats:

sorry, you forgot my stats. they are edd 9/7, pg4, age 34, ds9, dd3 and ds2. but it is a particularly long list!!

Want2bSupermum · 11/01/2011 03:30

DvC - I have bump envy too! I picked up a baby scrapbook yesterday and the cashier asked if I wanted a gift receipt. I told them it was for me and she offered to keep the book behind the counter for me until I reach 12 weeks. I told her I was in wk 15 and she said she had a small bump by then. I had my first useless mother moment before I even got a bump or felt the baby!

nicolamumof3 · 11/01/2011 07:21

morning all! been busy on here.

So so pleased at your news stormbird, really happy for you.

Looking forward to my scan next week. Off to see a lady i've seen in all pg who treats my back. She is doing my neck/shoulders where i have loads of tension and head massage should sort me out. Feeling better this morning and been up early having a cuppa and some cereal before the kids get up! Best go make packed lunches seeing as i don't feel sick for one.

13+3

MissLolita · 11/01/2011 09:02

Good morning ladies, Sorry I've been absent for so long but I've just caught up and seen all the great news! Apart from Spanner - hope you are ok?

I had my scan and nuchal done and got the results yesterday - 1:1300 so feeling a little relieved. The dates thing is worrying me a bit though.

My scan date put me around 12+6 but my LMP date was 13+2 - not that much difference I know - I suggested altering the paperwork there and then but dh convinced me to leave it as it is so that I wouldn't have to go 'too far'. The sonographer was present during this coversation but just shrugged. I'm worried that this is a bad idea as it could mean that they would look at inducing me 3 days earlier than neccessary as my dates are out. I mentioned it to my MW when I saw here last week and she was a bit Confused - can I safely assume I am worrying over nothing here?

I'm in the missing bump group too - my tummy is sticking out a bit more than ususal and my huge boobs mean most of my clothes which were fitted are now stretched skin tight but I'm nowhere near big enough for proper maternity clothing. More cakes me thinks! Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2011 11:26

I would go with the scan date tbh, MissLolita as unless you are charting you really don't know when you ovved and therefore conceived. You don't want them forcing you into an unnecessary induction at the end.

nicolamumof3 · 11/01/2011 12:23

yep go with the scan date MissL Smile

Am off for a head, neck shoulder massage after lunch.

sues1974 · 11/01/2011 12:24

Hi
I was put back 3 days with my first, just meant i ovulated after i thought i had but with a 35 day cycle and already knocking a whole week off for that it was quite annoying to be put back, but its best to go with what they say.
suz xx

Just popping on to update my EDD - am now on the 1st July. Am most def in mat wear now. There's no bump, just extra lard!! The sickness is still hanging around but is not every day anymore which is nice. After having a rubbish few days being sick and having a horrible headache, today is a very good day - hooray! Waves to Dita!

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2011 14:52

Glad you're feeling a bit better Orchid. I'm very much in maternity for a lot of things now. But also just look fat Sad...and sadly prob am as put weight on with the baby I mc'ed, didn't lose it and have not put weight on for this one. Oh well, will all go afterwards.

My nausea much better now as well - only really a prob if am hungry. However, am ravenous about 90% of the time.

Got nuchal scan tomorrow - bit nervous, will check in with the results.

StormBird · 11/01/2011 15:15

Good luck to evetyone who has imminent scans etc.

I've just come to stick my ore in about looking FAT!! I'm not a waif by any stretch of the imagination at the best of times, usually a size 16-18. I normally feel ok about my size, I'm nearly 5,10' so can carry it off pretty well but just lately I feel super duper frumpy - I'm in Mat clothes I'm not gonna lie, but not becuase I have a bump, in fact you can't see it unless I lie down LOL but becuase for me they are just so bloody comfy ATM. I'm currently sporting Tunics and leggings cos you can dress them up or down and they seem to be hiding my wobbly bits.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I went and had my bust measured (I hate the word bust, I sound like my nan) and I have shot up from a 38 DD to a......wait for it.......42 E (WTF). I've not really put on any weight as such and I can still fit into my normal tops. I couldn't bloody believe it. Imagine how mahoosive my wangers are going to be by July Grin

So I tried a couple of, ahem, M&S Maternity Bras on while I was there, I know some of you have already warned my off M&S and I can honestly say I know why!! I might be preggers but I'd still like to wear some pretty underwear, I'm not talking wonderbra here just something that looks pretty and gived me a decent shape, is that too much to ask?

Does anyone have any suggestions about where I can purchase a Maternity Wanger Hamock that doesn't make me look like something off Jeremy Kyle???

RANT OVER and Thank you xxx

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2011 15:41

Try HotMilk Stormbird. Think they have some pretty stuff.

Pennyly · 11/01/2011 15:42

Belated thanks for the info twit. Don't worry about not selling the pregnancy business - its a bit late to back out now! And although I feel like I've had about 2 hours sleep after getting four times that, remembering the images from my scan makes up for it (most of the time...)

My bump is gettting to the stage where its quite obvious to me but not to anyone else. I'm going to start feeling insulted soon when people don't notice any difference from the normal me!

Orchid12 · 11/01/2011 15:52

Lady!!! I was only just thinking abut you and whether or not I'd missed you having a scan. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. It's horribly nerve-wracking all this scan business but try and enjoy it too. Sending nice vibes your way Smile. I had to phone my MW after the bloods came back from trisomy testing and I got a 1:19000 risk and a measurement of 1.2mm. Will look forward to hearing how you get on tomorrow.

Storm I have no recommendations for the boob appendages I'm afraid but your description did make me laugh!! If it's one thing you need in PG and childbirth it's a sense of humour Smile.

Here, have a nice bakewell slice all and a cup of coffee to wash it down. Yummy......

SpannerPants · 11/01/2011 16:25

Had my scan today, was meant to be a nuchal one but the baby was 2mm too big! It kept putting it's hand in it's mouth and waving, we got a really good picture :)
14+2 today so I was bang on with my estimate of 10th July for the due date!

Your talk of wanger hammocks made me laugh storm - I found some nice ones in Debenhams but I'm finding anything lacy makes me itch like crazy so I'm just wearing cotton sports bras at the moment.

Stormbird I'm so pleased your test went well. I've also been struggling to find nice maternity bras, the normal shops don't seem to have much in an F cup. Bravissimo is usually good for larger sizes but they only have a few soft cup bras.

I'm really looking forward to getting a bump. My trousers have got much tighter but I think that's due to stuffing myself over christmas. I've just bought some jeans in a bigger size to tide me over until I've got enough of a bump to justify maternity clothes.

Had my 12 week scan on thursday and everything seemed fine. It was lovely to watch the baby doing headstands while the sonographer tried to measure it! My due date has changed to the 17th, so I'll move myself down the stats list:

Glad your scan went well Spannerpants, shame about the nuchal measurement but it sounds lovely to see the baby posing for a photo!

Hope I haven't messed the stats up, I x-posted with Spannerpants and copied an earlier stats list - can't see any differences at the moment, hopefully someone more observant will notice and change any mistakes!

nicolamumof3 · 11/01/2011 20:11

Spanner lovely about scan I should be 14+2 when I have my scan next week too!

SpannerPants · 11/01/2011 20:30

The baby had a gorgeous nasal bone so that reassured me, although I was a bit annoyed that we'd missed the nuchal window as I phoned them last week to say that I would be at least 14+1 and they said it would be fine!

Thanks for the get well wishes, I'm out of hospital and feeling much better now. The drs never got to the bottom of what was causing the pain as apparently they couldn't find a bit of my gallbladder on ultrasound so there could still be stones there. I don't have any pain now though :)

lizandlulu · 11/01/2011 20:40

i had my scan today too and am measuring 2 weeks behind what i my dates say which is fine cause i thought that might be the case as i had a neg test when my af was due, then a pos test 1 week later so didnt think i could count myself as being pg from the first day of my last period.

so because i am 10+6 it was too small to do the nuchal translucency test andi have got to go back in 2 weeks, which is also fine as i get to have another pic when its bigger!

i couldnt make out much apart from the head and body and legs, but saw the heartbeat. it was so strange seeing it, knowing it was inside me! made it all real i suppose!

Hi ladies,

Congrats stormbird, am really pleased for you.

Had a bit of a nightmare over last couple of days. Have been having lowe back pain, bikini line pain and a very slight dull ache every now again in the privates. I am hoping it either all just the stretching and ligament pain or my SPD, however cant get it out of my head that it is sign of something worse.

Spoke to midwife today who happened to be vile and she said that nothing she can do and no way she would be willing to refer me for anohter scan as 12wk scan was all good.

love to all

Honeybabymoon - I'm in London too - Hi! does sound like you haven't had what you're fully due yet. Others have commented on things around scans, but I asked a friend of mine who's an anesthetist her recommendation of hospitals in London. Recommendation is Charlotte's is good, Hammersmith not great, Chelsea and Westminster good but very busy and post-natal care non-existant. Sounds like you're in the right place!

I'm at 16 weeks and as I am seeing an obstetrician rather than a midwife (heart stuff) I've been phoning the hospital I'm at - Kingston - and asking a midwife or health visitor my questions directly. They've been great and I'd really recommend just picking up the phone if you have any concerns.

Also, if you don't think you're getting the right care (and a 15min booking appointment doesn't sound right - did they take blood and urine?) talk to the senior midwife and raise your concerns. The NHS is very tightly regulated and they all have to jump through the same hoops.

Best of luck - hope the scan went well!

Hi everyone. Arrived in Sydney a few days ago and still settling in. I haven't had much time to think about the pregnancy and I'm sure dp keeps forgetting that I'm pregnant what with all the stuff we have to sort out here, so it's nice to read about everyone else and immerse myself in second trimester world for a little while.

I also have flab rather than a bump and I am wearing quite baggy clothes as they are more comfortable. It makes me feel rather unattractive and I think I'll have to move into maternity clothes soon. Since it's summer here it's going to be far harder to hide the pregnancy than it was for my last two. We had some friends round for a drink recently to celebrate the cricket results and I had fizzy grape juice the whole night but it was quite obvious I wasn't drinking the same as anyone else.

Emmywoo could you go to the GP and get a referral to an obstetric physiotherapist if you aren't seeing one already - or go directly to a private one? So sorry your midwife was unhelpful to you.

Stormbird I completely agree that M&S maternity bras are awful. Plus I've never found the measuring service much good either. It's far easier to order a few bras in different sizes from Figleaves or similar, then return the ones that don't fit. I like Hotmilk but be prepared, although they look much nicer than other maternity bras they still have far more material than I would usually wear iyswim. Elle McPherson intimates and some Royce bras are okay - but I don't think the Elle McPherson ones come in very large sizes. I have to admit I am still wearing underwired bras (naughty me) but I am also breastfeeding ds3 so I know the wires aren't cutting off my milk ducts. I must go and buy some maternity bras soon.

I've not been around awhile, feels a little weird because I know I won't be a July baby, I'm just going to be the same gestation as you all.

I shall be 40 weeks on 11/7/11 but we're expecting the baby to come during May. They want to do an elective if I've not already gone by 36 weeks, but that's highly unlikely.

I'd try and catch up tonight but I need my sleep, off to meet Justine, Katie and thefirstMrsDeVere in the morning to go to EastEnders Grin

mrsfarge · 12/01/2011 09:04

hi, am new to this but was wondering what is wrong, confuddleddotcom?
