I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:

Interesting how most people are really trying to hold out on wearing maternity clothes. I am wearing jersey dresses to work, but at home I'm in maternity trousers. I hatem aternity clothes with a passion. THey are all ugly, but never mind.

StormBird · 06/01/2011 20:30

oh rarewelshbit sorry bout the bleeding. Can you/have you self refered to your EPU? I'd get checked out to be on the safe side. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all goes well for you.

Thanks for the well wishes ladies. DP has taken today and tomorrow of work to wait on me hand and foot. Bless him

xx

scarthy1975 · 06/01/2011 20:34

stormbird hope the results go well. Can I ask why you've had your anti D injection? My MW told me i'd have mine at about 26 weeks.

I have finally started wearing maternity tops now - the Next sale was perfect timing and so got a few things from there. I hate the 'fat' stage of being pregnant and i'm sure some people must think I had too much Christmas pudding lol.

Going to ring docs tomorrow and see about getting the flu jab. I also still need to fill the form in to get free dental and prescriptions.

Speak soon all and good luck to everyone about to finally get their scans.

StormBird · 06/01/2011 20:47

Hi scarthy

I had Anti-D cos I had to undergo an Invasive Test (CVS) which took a sample of the placenta and there is a risk of the babies blood cells transfering into my blood stream. If you've not had any complications or need any invasive tests then you should recieve your routine single injection Anti-D at 28wks, so your Midwife is correct. (Sometimes they even give you 2 routine injections one at 28wks and the other at 34wks apparently). As for the Flu Jab, I'm off to have mine tomorrow but I had to get it on prescription cos the docs and their supplier have run out.

Hiya everyone,
I'm a bit of a lurker but thought I'd check in. I'm 13+2 now and had my scan on New Years Eve. I spent the next week saying how weird it was that there was a baby in there- not quite sure why I hadn't really taken that in before but for some reason it only struck me when I saw the pictures. It was a relief to know that there really was something in there I suppose.

My bump still isn't huge (I'm not in maternity clothes yet) but I'm finding it a bit uncomfortable already- does anyone know is that going to carry on for the rest of the pregnancy or is it just everything being particularly stretched at the moment?

I've been back at work for 3 days now and am absolutely knackered - I was hoping that things would be magically better in the second trimester but it doesn't seem to be happening yet, and no Christmas holidays to look forward to now. :(

wolfhound · 07/01/2011 15:17

Anyone else still feeling sick? I'm still throwing up daily and I'm 14 weeks now. Knackered as well...

lizandlulu · 07/01/2011 16:56

i am still feeling sick, lasts for most of the day but worse in the evenings and knackered too! dh cant understand why i need to go to bed at half 9 and not up for no nookie

Eglu · 07/01/2011 17:52

wolfhound sorry to hear you are still feeling sick. My main morning sickness has gone now, although occasionally bizarre things make me feel sick, like taking a shower Hmm

My MIL kindly told me my bump looked huge yesterday. She also told me that she only put on a stone in each of her 4 pgs. Thanks for that.

Twit · 07/01/2011 20:14

Welcome pennyly I find the stretching feeling comes and goes at first, but by the time you get to the 3rd trimester its pretty much a way of life.
The tiredness is wearing off a bit now, but I'm still more tired than normal but that will wear off (again until the 3rd trimester).

Am not doing a good job selling this pregnancy lark am I?

How are you today stormbird ? Taking it easy I hope.
And you welshrarebit ?

sues1974 · 07/01/2011 20:16

Evening Ladies, cant believe i havnt been on for a week, had a massive catch up on all the posts at lunchtime at work.
Oo happy new year - i actually lasted until the end of the do i went to, 1.30am and got home at 2.30am.
Hope you get good news stormbird and eglu are you having any pain with the bleeding? i bled at week 11 with DS so got checked out and they made that my dating scan and they cancelled my other one at 13 weeks.
Finally have my scan on Monday, and nuchal test/scan. Im really nervous as dont feel pregnant at all apart from pregnancy dermatitus on my hands and only slightly sore boobs. My stomach is growing but im really scared that the placenta and everything else is growing but the baby stopped at 8 weeks, this is something that happened to my best friend and ive just read its happened to someone in the due in the july club over in babycentre. i tend to just lurk there as its even harder to keep up with than over here.
Sorry to be doom and gloom but im just so worried, hopefully will see the hearbeat on monday and everything will be ok.
suz xx

nicolamumof3 · 07/01/2011 20:45

Suz ibe heard some v sad stories of late and became v Down and really scared but I'm still feeling exhausted and sick sore boobs etc and taking the approach to thinking far more probable all to be ok than not so positive thinking way to go!!

I have 10 days til my scan but excitedly got the date through for my 20 week scan end of fen amazing to think will be half way thru next month and poss know the sex so so exciting

Twit · 07/01/2011 20:52

I'm really jealous of you all with your scan dates Envy

Try not to worry too much, hard I know but chances are everything is absolutely fine. There are alot of sad stories, but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

Want2bSupermum · 07/01/2011 21:12

Hello everyone. It is funny to read that some of you are in maternity clothes. Some my clothes are a little loose on me and I don't have much of a stomach at all. I agree about maternity clothes. It is hard to find trouers which are not polyester. I am thinking about getting my clothes altered by our local tailor (lovely old italian guy) rather than put myself through polyhell.

Hope everyone has wonderful scans. It was amazing to see the little critter moving around and I can't wait for the next one.

sues1974 · 07/01/2011 21:13

thanks ladies, were finding out the sex this time too so if all ok monday i think i book my next scan date at the hospital and should be monday 28th february, its weird to think we'll be half way through already by the end of next month - yay. At least by then we'll have proper bumps instead of looking like weve eaten too many mince pies (havnt actually had one as dont like them)
Im normally a size 12 bottoms and am just wearing size 14 trousers at the moment but they are tight now so will being getting all my old stuff out after Monday.
xx

nicolamumof3 · 07/01/2011 21:16

Supermum I've never had any polyester maternity clothes lol!

lizandlulu · 07/01/2011 21:53

eglu my mum kindly told me that she only put on a stone in each of her 2 pregnanciesHmm useful information. not.

i am glad you are all a.ok.

i am a little in limbo with my clothes. i have not been able to wear my usual jeans from 9 weeks, not because they are too tight, but just because they made me feel ill just pressing on my stomach. yet maternity jeans keep falling down. i have got some with strecthy pannels but drive me mad hitching them up all day. i got a pair of elasticated sided ones from the charity shop and have been wearing them non stop for weeks.

DitaVonCheese · 08/01/2011 00:27

wolfhound I'm afraid my nausea has more or less worn off this time but it went on to 16 weeks last time.

Was going to suggest getting trousers the next size up - that got me through the clothing gap last time and meant I had conveniently bigger clothes for the two years after having DD Blush (wearing a pair now in fact). I've also heard of people using braces/clips to hold up maternity trousers before they've filled them out.

Got my scan date through yesterday and it's for Monday morning Grin Grin so not long to wait, though I'm not sure what to expect really as had the NT scan last time (different hospital) and the whole thing was very involved whereas this time it's just a dating scan and sounds as though we'll be in and out in minutes. Also not sure whether DH will get to come in as he might have to look after DD outside. Boo :(

GruffaloMama · 08/01/2011 10:30

dita that's exciting - my scan is on Friday.

I'm into my fat trousers from after DS. I tried some maternity jeans I've bought but Liz I was doing just what you did - hitching them up all day long. I look really bloated but able to get away with jersey dresses and scarves etc.

Gotta go DS is poking me.

highheelsandequations · 08/01/2011 13:27

Have had a lovely morning. DP let me order a doppler from amazon on the condition that I wouldn't become obsessive. It arrived this morning and we managed to hear LOs heartbeat :) Didn't think it would work, especially not this early but after a little while of moving it round we found my heartbeat, then a few minutes later found LOs. So nice being able to hear it and I'm finally convinced there's actually something in there! Grin

Clothes wise I've bought 2 cheap pairs of maternity trousers from New Look that I've been wearing for work this week as my normal ones are just too tight and uncomfortable. My skirts and dressed still fit but it's obvious that I'm getting fatter in them so avoiding them for a few days more until I've shared the news with everyone. I've been investing in baggy jumpers and tunic tops that I can wear at work and over my unbuttoned jeans at home, although getting a bit fed up of not being able to wear my 'nice' clothes already.

Hope everyone else is doing okay and your weekends are off to a good start. Good luck to those off to have scans soon.

lizandlulu · 08/01/2011 17:44

ohh i looked at one of those dopplers in boots yesterday and it said on the box 'for use in 3rd trimester' so didnt think any more of it and didnt think it would work. how much was it?

DitaVonCheese · 08/01/2011 18:00

I heart my doppler. The Summer ones are a bit crap though ime, if those are the ones they have in Boots (you can usually get them quite cheaply on ebay if you want to try one).

highheelsandequations · 08/01/2011 19:22

I got an angelsounds one from amazon, about twenty five quid I think. It looks a little plasticky but has worked brilliantly. Has lots of good amazon reviews too. Didn't have gel at first but it worked fine with oil.

nicolamumof3 · 08/01/2011 19:41

even all i am exhausted.com. Had ds2's fifth bday party in a local hall was manic 30 kids. total madness im dead on my feet!!

lizandlulu · 09/01/2011 13:41

well done for getting through that! did you have help? parties are tought at the best of times. never mind when you are pg!

i am exhausted today, for no reason really, full nights sleep but feel like i could sleep for a week, and got a kids party to go to at 3

rarewelshbit · 09/01/2011 15:09

Thank you all for your best wishes - the power of positive thought obviously seems to work in that the bleeding stopped last night and so far no sign of it today :)

I did speak to my Midwife and EPU when it first started and they told me to rest up and only come in if it got worse....my scan is on Thursday morning so will find out then if everything is alright.... still keeping up those positive thoughts although I can't help but try to prepare myself that things might not all be fine - then kick myself for being negative!

Going back to work tomorrow to see how it goes - and to continue the theme of maternity clothes I did buy some last weekend and was very excited about it (have to say really like H&Ms maternity range got a lovely pair of smart non polyester(!) trousers for work) - but now feeling very superstitious and won't wear them until after Thursday (which probably makes me sound really ridiculous!)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)
