I was just about to post to say sorry for starting the July thread and then disappearing, then saw that it was all full up! So I thought I would start us a new one.

Hello to all the many many ladies that have joined the July club - it's lovely to see so many of us here. I've been trying to read back through all the old posts, but there are so many, that's partly why it's taken me so long to get back! Have also been having some personal troubles, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'm 12 weeks today and slightly looking forward to my scan on Christmas Eve, but also nervous in case it's not good news. I'm looking forward to catching up with you all again and hearing how you and your bumps are going.

OP posts:

Hi stormbird, I have everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you.

I have my 12 week scan on Friday and although I had a private scan at 7+3 and saw heartbeat, think it is only natural to still worry.

Once given the good news (me being optimistic there!!) I cant wait to tell our 4yo dd. She keeps asking if me and dh can have a baby and that she wants a baby girl. However, little concerned as she wants to call a baby: Barbie Monster Rubbish!! Odd name!!

Love to all

Hello all - happy new year to all!

I feel like I'm back in the land of the living now. I had flu and then bronchitis so felt pretty rotten for ages but I'm feeling a bit more human again now! I missed out on both Christmas and New Year but on the upside I've lost 6lbs!

I'm afraid I've not had a chance to catch up properly and read all of the posts so I'm a little out of the link...

Hope all's going well for everyone.

Scottygirl10 · 05/01/2011 21:19

Fingers crossed stormbird x. I have flu right now buttonmoon :( feeling decidedly sorry for myself and have been forced ar a result to take paracetamol :( rubbish isn't it x

buttonmoon78 · 05/01/2011 21:32

Oh lovey - you ain't seen nothing yet. I was on max dose of paracetamol for 10 whole days. Then I was on amoxycillin which is ok when pg. But it had no effect so the dr decided that as the bronchitis was developing into possible pneumonia I had to take another type of antibiotic which it is preferred not to use during the first 3 months of pg.

We were abroad so I'm waiting to see my own gp to work out what that means exactly - 'preferable not to use'.

Until then I refuse to worry over much. I truly felt like I'd have been better off dead so I'm guessing the dr wasn't hamming it up too much when he suggested pneumonia so I kind of figure that if I was that unwell it can't have been good for baby?

Anyway - this wasn't meant to turn into a point scoring session! I simply wanted to say that paracetamol is not the devils work. It is far better than having a sustained raised temperature. So please don't beat yourself up about it.

And I truly hope that you're back on your feet soon!

lizandlulu · 05/01/2011 21:36

ohh hope you all feel better soon! i am so so glad i have had the flu jab yesterday.

cara2244 · 05/01/2011 21:41

Anyone with gum problems - I went to the dentist today with a toothache, that turned out to be an abcess on in the gum (ouch) and she recommended using corsodyl toothpaste throughout pregnancy to keep the gums strong. Once a day if you can bear it as apparently it tastes pretty bad!

squirrel007 · 05/01/2011 21:42

Sorry to hear about all the illnesses, I imagine that being pg at the same time is horrible (I felt bad enough before xmas without any bugs!).

And stormbird sorry to hear about your result, and hope things improve with the CVS. But I agree that it's still a 98% chance that things will be fine.

DitaVonCheese · 05/01/2011 22:46

Just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow Stormbird :)

Eglu · 06/01/2011 11:05

Good luck today Stormbird! I hope everything goes okay for you.

I notice there has been some talk about weight gain. I was surprised to find that although I have managed to get to 14 weeks and not gain anything yet. THat does not mean I am not in maternity clothes though. I have a huge bump already and no normal clothes fit me any more. I expect the weight gain to start quite quickly now I'm in the second trimester.

Ivegotmrbitey · 06/01/2011 12:22

Good luck stormbird hope today goes well and you get reassuring news soon xx

eglu I feel like I have gained half a stone but as I am hiding from the scales who knows?

I picked up my sale mama and papas trousers today they are lovely but at present a bit roomy! Also a pair of verynice (and cheap) pair of boot cut jeans in new look, but again the bump and I have room to grow in them. Thing is, my regular clothes are getting really tight now and most look awful! This is a difficult wardrobe time, how are you guys getting round it?

Ivegotmrbitey · 06/01/2011 12:23

Sorry, should have said new things are maternity wear!

buttonmoon78 · 06/01/2011 12:51

Leggings and jeggings (though the word makes me cringe) are my friends currently. Along with stretchy tunics, tops and roomy waterfall cardis. Anything with a proper waistband has been relegated to the 'not til Autumn '11' pile!

buttonmoon78 · 06/01/2011 12:53

Should say though, am definitely in the chubby rather than pg stage. Though dropping a few lbs over Christmas has made my bump look bigger in comparison! From memory I stay at the chubby stage until about 16 weeks then everything springs outwards.

I'm not sure what to expect this time though. With the previous 3 I've defied tradition and my bump's got smaller with each! Maybe this time I'll not show at all! Shame as I've some lovely dresses and bits to look forward to!

nicolamumof3 · 06/01/2011 13:09

im in leggings, loose tunicy tops and waterfall cardi's, lots of big necklaces and scarfs to try and detract!

DS2's fifth bday party and lots of people i've been 'avoiding' will be there thinking hmmmmm she's put on weight Grin i still haven't told a soul!

Have a spa day on Monday with my mum and now that i can't use barely any of the facilities decided im going to tell my parents on Sunday.

StormBird · 06/01/2011 13:28

Hello....me again,

I'm in leggings and tunic tops too. I've got a pair f Maternity trousers for work but they are awful so I wore my normal ones the other day and when I sat down at my desk I bust the zip open!!!!!!!!!!! What a podge!

Anyway, Just got home from the Hospital after having a CVS. I shall not sugar coat it, it is definately something that has been put on the list of things I'd rather not have to go through again, it was slightly painful but more uncomfortable than anything. The instruments they use look like something from the dark ages.

The plus point was that it was over in 10 minutes and the consultant was v. happy with how the procedure went and said that he got a good sample of the placenta. The midwife showed me the sample a little later on and I was quite surprised that it was like a little transparent frond - not what I expected.

Anyway, they kept us hanging around for a little while after to make sure I was OK and I also had to have an anti-D injection as I am Rhesus Negative.

I'm home now and feel relatively OK. Sligtly achy tummy from all prodding and poking from both today and yesterday. I'm trying to just rest now as I am very aware of how crucial the next 72hrs is meant to be.

The results should be available by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. I'm trying not to think about it - just so glad today is over!

Hey ladies, hope we are feeling a bit better and the MS is passing?

Stormbird, thinking of you and hoping for good news x

Had my second scan today, as the last was too early, have been adjusted to the 13 July which makes me 13+1 today. Baby was wriggling and spinning and made me feel very emotional. Got some lovely photos. Have just told my bosses I am pregnant and they were suprisingly lovely about it condsidering I have only been back 4 months from my last maternity leave!

Glad I am not the only one contemplating maternity clothes, I am huge and have a real budda belly going on (as my DH kindly informed me!) Have to buy a dress for my DSIL wedding on the 19th Feb in NZ - any ideas where to get a nice summer dress?

nicolamumof3 · 06/01/2011 13:35

stormbird have been thinking of you. As you already know just rest up know do as little as possible and sending you many positive vibes.

GruffaloMama · 06/01/2011 13:41

sormbird glad it went okay-ish. Thinking of you and wishing for the right outcome.

Cara I've had rotten gums this time - no abscess, thank goodness, but I think I will get in touch with the dentist as my gums are bleeding at just about anything. Grim.

Still, the morning sickness seems to be settling down a bit - only occasional waves (though I did nearly hurl in the queue in John Lewis yesterday)...

On the weight thing - have only put on about a pound but belly is enormous - very buddha notnearly. Even DH said yesterday I had a fat belly. But that it was 'okay because I was preg'. He doesn't mean it quite as it sounds but it wasn't quite what I needed to hear... Bless him.

Plucking up courage to tell boss tomorrow. V nervous. I know they can't 'do' anything but it's not going to be popular - have only just moved into this role 2 months ago...

PertyPru · 06/01/2011 14:01

Hullo, I'm a bit late to this party but can I sidle in?!

10+6 today, due very end July. Scan next week. This is no.2, DD born early Aug 08 so I'm really hoping she doesn't have to share her birthday with this one... Clever timing, eh HmmSmile

So far MS hasn't been too bad, fading already along with (thankfully!) the ridiculous appetite that had me eating everything in the fridge and weeping at DH when it was gone...

My Aug 08 ante/post natal threads have been an amazing support group and I didn't want to miss the opportunity this time. But please accept apologies in advance if I'm not the most regular of posters or seem like a dunce when I do - my memory is poor at the best of times and diabolical in pregnancy and it will take me a long time to remember who's who!

squirrel007 · 06/01/2011 14:30

stormbird keeping my fingers crossed for you

eglu my normal clothes are quite tight fitting, so I have had to go out and buy a couple of pairs of trousers in a larger size and some chunky jumpers to see me over the last few weeks. I have also bought a couple of maternity tops in the sales and they look fine even without a bump, so I might start wearing those soon. The one thing I'm not sure about is trousers as I'm quite short - don't think anywhere does a petite maternity range! This is my first pg, so I don't have anything to fall back on, so will need to do some shopping soon :)

notnearly snap! My first scan was too early and I had the second today, been measured at 13w1d :) Was so nice and very reassuring to see the baby waving its arms around.

Good news is that the sickness and tiredness seem to be passing, and I'm gradually feeling more normal again.

rarewelshbit · 06/01/2011 15:12

stormbird thinking of you

Having reached 12 weeks I told a couple of people in work I was pregnant on Tuesday....woke up wednesday to bleeding...has continued ever since - all I can do is put my feet up and keep everything crossed that it's OK.

It helped reading earlier posts to know that other people have had this and that it's normally OK - but so scared right now - and have to wait until my scan next week to know if everything is alright.

Just trying to remain positive and remind myself that if my baby is half as stubborn as I am then it'll be fine!

SpannerPants · 06/01/2011 17:08

When is your scan rarewelshbit? Do you think it's worth talking to your GP/midwife about bring it forward?

Fingers crossed the bleeding settles and everything is fine.

Glad it went ok stormbird - hope you get plenty of rest over the weekend.

My tummy is so bloated that I can't do any of my work trousers up so I've ordered a couple of pairs of maternity trousers from New Look. I've got quite a few jersey dresses and I'm hoping they fit for a while longer - I can't afford a whole new wardrobe!

Twit · 06/01/2011 17:22

stormbird and rarewelshbit, I'm keeping everything I have crossed for you both.

I'm the same as nicolamum hiding in tunics, cardis and leggings with scarves and necklaces. At least we can wear big coats at the moment. Does anyone know of any nice tunics and leggings (maternity) that I could wear from nowish with cardis until summer? (Well probably next winter if I'm realistic Blush I want over the bump as I will roll that down if it gets hot but will like the smoothing aspect afterwards.

Right well still no word from the MW so I rang the childrens centre as I know they go there, and have finally been given an appointment for the 19th. I will be approx 15/16 ish weeks for gods sake.

I have however rung the drs and have my flu and swine flu jabs on monday, so that's one last thing to worry about.

The ick and the tiredness have faded for the most part now, but am already finding it is stiff to walk because of my back. Ah well.
And DH had a surprise, after the 'famine' he got a snack last night Wink
Things must be moving on lol.
