well my bump seems pretty small and 'neat' i have put a bit of weight on my arms..god knows why they appeared on the back of my knee though!
I do have a few tiny ones around my hips from fluctuating weight during my teens, but they are almost invisible now.

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 13:59

Nice to see you Alfiesmum How are you doing?

Just a thought. M/W said on last visit that although she couldn't tell for sure how baby was positioned it did feel like head was down although not engaged. Now, i don't see her again until 36+5 so if baby was to be breech there wouldn't be much she could do at that stage right? Surely they should be able to tell me now. What should i do? And yes, I have lots of time to think this afternoon, DH's 'I'll be home early to help' is looking to be at around 4pm!!!! And i ain't doing it....

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 14:03

chacha..i am wondering the same..he has gone from 3/5 engaged to breech and back again, and I am sure he is still doing cartwheels in there,
i am 35+3 today..
i see the midwife on friday, and really hope it's good news..how can he have the space to be moving so much!?
suely if they want to be breech there isn't much to be done at any stage!

twinkle1 · 18/10/2005 14:17

this is true!! basicaly babies will get them selves comfy wether this is breech, cephalic or transverse. My sprout is still swinging from cephalic to breech and back Luckily it does not matter too much cos im having a planned section.
Just wondered??? is anyone putting on lots of weight at the min??? i feel like i have put lots on at the min
ah well only about 3 weeks to go

34+5

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 14:23

I see what you're saying but I really don't want a section and feel that if the baby is breech there will be no choice. So surely they should be checking more often or is that me just being OTT?
TBH don't really care what happens as long as baby is well and healthy but I'm no good with pain and really suffered after my last two operations so though of section and being unwell makes me think twice about everything.

Think i've been too sick to put much weight on. I do feel fat though.

twinkle1 · 18/10/2005 14:28

yeah they should be keeping an eye on you.It is possible to have a breech baby vaginally, but it can depend on size baby previous history etc etc
In terms of c/section with both of mine i only stayed in hosp for two days and had paracetmol.I did feel sore but never really unwell or in pain, everyone is different but try not to worry too much, you will have a lovely new baby to distract you

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 14:29

chacha..there is still loads of time!
i guess you are about a week earlier than me?
my midwife said we should give it until 37 weeks to be concerned..hope she is right!

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 14:33

That's good to know. I'm still only 34+3 or 4 so if that's the case a few weeks until 37 yet should everything go to plan.

I'm having such a lazy day it's unbelievable, seems for every day that I do a lot of work I have two days of zombying around. Can't quite get with it.

BoB - Supermalts are pretty nice.

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 14:33

oooh..and my mum had a 49ish hour labour with me (her first baby)..then two early c.sections, and she said the sections were far easier to recover from....
It won't be nice if it comes to it, but as said, you won't be worrying about yourself..the baby will be all thats on your mind...

but now, please tell me as i am clueless..my mum had her c.sections 17 and 9 years ago, and they did enormous cuts across her stomach eac htime..but I read that now they do a small, low incision which will be covered by pubic hair ..is this the case? how do they get the baby out of such a small hole?

twinkle1 · 18/10/2005 14:36

heres the gory bit the cut is about 10cm then they just grab hold of your flesh and pull
but it does all go back eventually

twinkle1 · 18/10/2005 14:38

forgot to say, years ago they used a "classical"incision which was a vertical cut, wheras now its a horizontal low down one

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 14:43

doesn't sound too bad...eek..hehehe
i guess as my mums were both emergency they weren't too careful!

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 14:54

[passes out]

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 14:57

heeeehheeehheeeeeee

babyonboard · 18/10/2005 15:42

chacha...zombying around sounds just like me..i can easily spend all day chatting to friends on the phone, mumsnetting, and reading, and just doing 'nothing'..then realise dp is home in half an hour and wet washing is still in the machine, the flat is a mess and i haven't thought about dinner..
I guess I have a good excuse though..so may aswell make the most of it...

Enthusia · 18/10/2005 16:01

WooHoooo - its all go girls!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from MW who said that I am fully engaged, measuring 41cms and thinks I have had my show. She reckons I may go in the next week - but said she wasn't a betting lady!!!!

She turned out to be really nice this time and even told me to go to Manchester rather than being left at home, as that was important (if I hadn't gone and had bubs by that point that is, she said with a wink!!!!)

I am soooooo excited to think it might not be long now. She also reckons that bubs is on the big side, so coming early may also me a blessing!!!!

This was all such a suprise as I really thought I may have been exagerating everything, also with her last measurements she thought I was on the small side, so to have gone from that to 41cms was amazing. I am on a real high now!!!!!!!

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 16:19

Enthusia

I am just grinning from ear to ear!!!!!
So, what are you going to do then? (other than have a baby?) No, I mean, are you going to go to Manchester then? Wow!!! Oh my goodness am so excited for you!!!!
