WOW!! Congrats Nova and family

sarahsausage · 15/10/2005 23:03

Forgot to say, my sister is STILL in labour! They moved her to labour ward earlier today so looking like it could be any time now.

Feel bad for her, last time she slept properly was tuesday night!

I just know i'm going to be the last one to have baby, i'll probably go over my dates again and end up with a december baby.

Ahhh Congratulations Nova & hubby, what fantastic news, well done you and wow that was quick.

Glad to hear you and baby Natalie are doing well, and look forward to hearing all the details.

Love & best wishes BEKS

KristinaM · 16/10/2005 07:10

Congratulations to the Rodeos and the Novas! Welcome to babies Jessica and Natalie - what pretty names. Wishing you all lots of sleep!

Sorry have not been around much lately - have been very busy doing serious nesting - I'm not a shopper so this means decorating, cleaning carpets, clearing out loft, Ikea visiting and assembling lots of flat pack furniture. We are kitting out our tiny spare room as a proper office so Dh can do more work at home after baby is born. Also swapping kids bedrooms around so we have somewhere to put baby when he leaves our bedroom.

I'm getting a bit anxious - last baby was 2 weeks late so i thought i probably had til early December to get things done. But baby is still transverse amd i'm getting scared i might be heading towards a section at 38 weeks. Tho I notice that both the MW on this thread seem to be heading the same way and seem relatively calm about it!!!! Tell me girls - can I really leave hospital after 2 days? I mean will i be well enough - i dont care if i have to discharge myself? I am really concerned about the non existant care on post natal wards - would rather be at home.

Should add that I've been to chiropractor to try to turn baby and wil be trying homeopathic stuff and moxibustion ( sp?) in week 35.Any other suggestions? Do peas work on transverse babies?

Kristina, I've been searching through the archives & I've found lots of old threads on how to turn babies, with a few helpful links. If you google "optimal fetal positioning" you might find something. HTH

Just a quick one this morning as I'm off to see Wallace & Gromit & The Curse of The Were-Rabbit!!

KristinaM · 16/10/2005 09:50

Thanks Karma. I think I've read them all alreday but will check! Can you give me soem comforting advice about Cs?

Twinkle???? How are you feeling today? i have cracked a rib befroe and that was painful enough, let alone during preg!

karma - will you let me know what you thnk of the film as i'm thinking of taking 5yo DD thsi week.

How are the rest of you today? Any bets on who is giving birth next?

goldenoldie · 16/10/2005 10:57

Well done Nova!

Kristina - I left hospital after 2 days with my last c-section, don't think it is that unusual?

ChaCha · 16/10/2005 11:06

Good morning ladies,

I still can't believe two of our fellow Novemberer's have had their babies. I feel really excited now I'm going to visit my friend and her newborn tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to that.

After a couple of rough days and being thoroughly exhausted managed to keep all food down yesterday and it feels like a great achievement. Friend made me a lovely spinach dish for dinner so am hoping that was a relatively good intake of iron. Have now swapped the ghastly iron tablets for Floradix Liquid Iron - I don't mind that in the least. It sure beats the sicky pills

SS - Hoping all is going well for your sister. Your family must be quite excited for you both. Don't worry, I'm sure you will not be the last one on here, it could be me!!! I'm sure there will be lots of 'me, myself and I' posts as I'm due last week of November. Am still only 34+1! Bit of growing to do yet I daresay.

Kristina - You have been busy!! Well done. I seem to be starting with the best of intentions but not quite getting anywhere. DH has promised to help me this afternoon and we are yet again having to rearrange the upstairs rooms. The tiny spare bedroom will now host a single bed and DH's computer desk & work things and we'll be using the bigger spare bedroom to host the sofa bed & wardrobes leaving our room with enough space for baby's wardrobe, cot and our things. I have taken a liking to the smell of domestos cleaning spray and the bathroom and kitchen got a good cleaning yesterday!!!!

Twinkle - Hope you're feeling better. Baby sounds a great size for 34weeks, is that average do you think for our gestation?

Karma - Enjoy your morning.

Londoner - How are the party tricks going?

Enthusia - Am hoping that you are okay after Friday's posts. I have emailed you but hopefully you are just busy and not in labour yet. I will try not to stalk you though, I promise LOL.

My mum and her DP are coming to stay this week and I'm really looking fwd to both the company and help. Have your folks arrived yet Beks?

Off into town before we attack the house. I think Beks will be next followed by Enthusia...what do you reckon ladies?

rodeo1 · 16/10/2005 14:42

Hi all,

I'm back, well I was back on Thurs but my laptop is playing up and won't log on which is very annoying , so I'm on at my mum's at the mo.

Firstly congratulations Nova!!! Lovely name, looking forward to a piccy (and birth story)! Yippee, I was hoping one of you wouldn't be long. Well done!!

Well quick update on us....Jess (as we call her at home) is just so beautiful, teeny and gorge with inch long black hair which I didn't expect, none of us can stop kissing her! Birth went well, I was soooo nervous, but had her at 12.50pm wieghing 6lb 12oz, Monday lunchtime, tranfered to ward, and was there until Thursday afternoon, erm....Breastfeeding going really well, no soreness whatsoever yet! Hurrah! Scar healing nicely. Feel really well actually, just really happy and peaceful which I didn't expect.....making Sunday dinner with her this afternoon, while the children go swimming.

Right I'd better go as I can hear her start to call and my boobs may start to squirt all over mums laptop as I can feel them tingling.

Love to everyone, I'll try and get some pictures on for you all soon, would also like a few more births Hopefully my computer will be fixed soon so will be back in full force soon.

Haven't had time to properly catch up so hope everyone is happy and well,

Love to all,

yingers74 · 16/10/2005 15:32

Congrats Rodeo and Nova, not checked this thread for a couple of days and boom babies everywhere!

Nothing to report my end! And am hoping nothing for at least another week and half as just got tickets for dd to go see Balmory LIVE - how sad am i, yes am actually excited about the prospect!!!

babyonboard · 16/10/2005 16:23

wow - i can't believe it! congratulations nova and family....sweet name!
so it's true what people are saying on the 'help how to induce labour' threads...arrange to do something you are really looking forward to..with your dp's paintballing and lunch at the ivy...baby natalie must have been jealous and not wanted to miss out..heheehee

looking forward to hearing all the details..if you ever find time!
welome back rodeo..and big congrats to you too!

I have no real news...spent most of the weekend suffering with the backaches and cramping, and had little sleep..
I also can't stop crying..mainly at some rabbit bootees my mum bought for the baby..oh dear....

ChaCha · 16/10/2005 16:42

Making Sunday lunch already Rodeo? I'm impressed You go girl!!! Looking fwd to hearing from you again real soon.

Okay, i've got a sad dilemma. Please put me out of my misery. Just bought a bag in boots that I thought would be great for hospital as has 3 see-through compartments as is really neat, can fit everything in there. However, when I came home I realised that it is not a toiletry bag but a shoe bag...you use it to organise your shoes when you're travelling etc.
\link}http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1067598&wblinktype=RELPL\see it here}

I really like it but think it stupid to use a shoe organiser as a toiletry bag. I also know that this is a pathetic dilemma to have but I've now been home for over 3 months and baby/labour are all that are in my mind. Shall I return the bag or just use it? DH is in fits of laughter as i write this....yes.. i know i'm sad!

ChaCha · 16/10/2005 16:43

here

ChaCha · 16/10/2005 16:54

Going out tonight and will do me the world of good!! The bag is going back - I do NOT know what is wrong with me, crikey!!!!!!!!!!

Good job i do not need to make any important decisions..our lives would be in jeopardy!

LilJ · 16/10/2005 17:10

Congratulations Rodeo & Nova!!!!! I can't believe that after all this time we're finally having babies!

I'm still at work for another week & half and still trying to get them to sort out my grievance, but looking forward to being off regardles of what happens.

Had a growth scan earlier this and the baby is rather big (aprox. 6 1/4 lbs already - eek), but very cute with chubby cheeks. I think at next midwife app't they might tell me that my due date is a week or so off. I feel enormous and having terrible problems getting comfortable anywhere - chairs, in bed, standing etc.

We just went on a frantic last minute shopping spree and finally bought a cot and some sheets and a sling. Only things we're missing are a changing table of some sort and a baby monitor - which we know nothing about - any advice ladies?

Must go as have to pick up DH from work (he's had to work this w/e poor thing!)

Lil J
Supposively 34+2 weeks (ha ha)

BEKsmum · 16/10/2005 18:12

Afternoon girls,

Welcome back Rodeo, glad to hear that everything went so well, Jess sounds adorable and I'm impressed that you're up and cooking Sunday lunch already - I couldn't do that before I had kids let alone after them!!!

Chacha, thanks for that, you might be right there about me being next I suppose as I've got hospital visits twice a week now so could get yanked in at any time. Thankfully my folks are back, which is a great relief and I'm not worried when the baby comes now as dh has had his birthday so they won't have to share. Forgot to say lol at the bag dilemma

I can't believe Nova went 3 weeks early, she sounded so calm in her post early on in the day - well done girl, you're a star. I agree with BOB about the baby thinking it was missing out on all the fun.

Tinkle your rib sounds painful I'd only ever heard one other story like yours which was where a girl I worked with had to have her rib broken because the baby managed to gets its foot stuck between her bottom two ribs - ouch! Hope you're feeling better soon though.

Karma 45hours!!! blimey I thought 30 was bad, hope it goes easier for you this time.

Hope everyone else is well and sorry to anyone I haven't mentioned, will try to catch up properly during the week. BEKS

babyonboard · 16/10/2005 19:20

forgot to say earlier- Twinkle glad you are okay! doesn't sound too nice..I reckon between us all we've had every pregnancy complaint and condition going
al this baby talk has gotten me excited, and novas news has improved my mood no end.
dp is off to the cinema (I can't face the uncomfy seats with this backache!)so I'm going to finish repacking my hospital bag, then have a long bath, crank the heating up and watch some junk tv..yey
I am going a bit overboard, I have bought loads of cute cotton drawstring bags in different sizes to seperate baby clothes, socks, my bras etc in my hossie bag, and have typed out our list of phone numbers for announcing the birth..hehehe
also decided the baby won't like the smell of my minature toiletries so am determined to find non scented ones in town tomorrow..
Chacha..i like the bag! keep it lady! no one but you will know it's meant for shoes..hehehehe

KristinaM · 16/10/2005 19:55

Hi everyone and welcoem back Rodeo. I too am impressed at how well you are doing and very encouraged - the thought of having to have a Cs with 2 young kids at home is freaking me out a bit but you are inspiring me.Well done too on the Bf

BOB - am ashamed to admit that i havn't given the first thought to hospital bag - note to self - must be more organised....

Chacha - soem folk might have got a clue from the word "shooz" printed on the bag .

LilJ - I hate changing tables as they are generally too small, low, flimsy and and expensive waste of space when your baby is out of nappies. Although we saw one in Ikea recently that has a hinged top so it just looks like a chest of drawers. We use this one below to change Ds - it is really sturdy ( would probably hold my weight, although havent tried!!!) and big enough for mat plus all the other stuff you need.Loads of space for toys and clothes underneath. Not very trendy tho

KristinaM · 16/10/2005 19:57

Golden Young thing - how did you feel when you came home after two days? I mean physically - if I recall correctly things were very distressing otherwise ????? sorry if I've got it wrong....

babyonboard · 16/10/2005 21:39

kristina..stop worrying girl! you will be fine!
though i can imagine I'd be the same in such a situation!
I have read that you should avoid lying down and slouching if the baby is breech...sorry! doesn't sound too good or relaxing! but apparantly sitting with something to raise the back end of your pelvis up and walking a lot may encourage the baby to get into position.
I hope the same doesn't happen to me as I am 3/4 of my time horizontal these days.
I'm also hoping for an early as possible discharge..i hate being in hospital! hoping that being in london the hospital will be full and kick me out early..hehee
actually, does anyone know if you ca ndischarge yourself with a baby? Or do the ycount the baby as not being able to discharge itself so you can't take it home before you say so.
sorry that sounds confusing, but i know wha ti mean.
I obviously won't if there are any concerns with the baby, but my friend was in for five days until they were satisfied she could breastfeed properly, and I would hate that!
