Moog72 · 03/12/2010 14:41

Fingers crossed for you Moomin

clench234 · 03/12/2010 14:50

Fingers crossed moomin, glad mw and dh are on their way. definitely echo what others have said, mw will just want to talk through the result for you rather than it just arrive on a letter but doesn't necessarily mean the real risk is that much higher. take care, hope she gets there soon.

Humania · 03/12/2010 14:55

Completely understand your anxiety moomin but I second what everyone else has said about the stats. Really hope you'll be feeling better once you've had a chance to talk it all through.

Leroy have you tried a pregnancy pillow or just a normal pillow between your knees at night to help with the hip pain? It helps to even out your pelvis and takes the pressure off.

mrsbigw I used to suffer with UTI's constantly and got so fed up of taking ABs. Then i started taking this stuff and I have honestly never looked back. I hardly ever get them now and if I get a twinge I just need a small dose of this to chase it away. It doesn't work for everyone and it's not cheap but definitely worth a try.

Humania · 03/12/2010 15:02

Also I have posted my scan picture Smile

NurseSnowflake · 03/12/2010 15:18

Thinking about you moomin, do try not to worry, 1:200 is considered high but honestly it's 0.5% chance of something happeneing, not high at all. xx

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/12/2010 15:30

I think you have more of a chance of winning more than a £10 on the lottery Moomin!
Fingers crossed anyway, it is still a worry!

moomin156 · 03/12/2010 15:45

Right then......my results are 1:110.....my age factor was 1:180 and NT result 1.2mm.
Now have the agonising decisions to make. Thanks for all your kind words. DH virtualy home now.......

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 03/12/2010 15:50

Had my scan and have a very relaxed little looking munchkin on board. They've pulled my EDD forward by 2 days to 18th June, which means another immaculate conception Grin No, I guess I just have another above average length baby. Not posting the pic though as I don't really go in for that.

And the water is running again too. Things are looking up.

Baublepink · 03/12/2010 15:51

Moomin, don't worry, there are threads on here where posters have been given a 1:2 chance of DS or similar condition, and their babies have been born without any conditions/issues etc at all - totally healthy.

The fact that your nuchal fold is 1.2 is excellent, I'm sure it would be uncommon for that to come in at such a good level yet there be a problem as such. I know someone who had "soft markers" on their scans which was indicative of various serious medical conditions - baby was born absolutely fine (is now 5yo, very bright, etc etc) so scans and tests can occasionally point to things that aren't actually there. Good luck - let us know what the MW says xx

Baublepink · 03/12/2010 15:56

Sorry - crossed posts Moomin. 1:110 is still less than a 1% chance of anything untoward. And remember the age thing is quite general, there'll be women in their 20s who are actually high risk as such personally, but their age says not, and women in their 40s who are actually low risk but are classed as high purely because of their age number. Yes the risks increase as we get older but that's still just a generalisation. Hope your DH is a good egg who will let you wibble or not as much as you need.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 03/12/2010 16:02

Oh moomin you poor thing! Hope you get some answers soon. Baby has only been screen as high risk, not diagnosed as definate. (sorry not much help I know) Pleased to hear your DH is on his way (and hope he drives carefully!

8rubberduckies · 03/12/2010 16:05

moomin have agood old chat with your dp and hopefully you will feel a bit clearer about everything. Just remember, there is still a massive chance your baby will be healthy.

Nomorechoc glad the scan went well Smile. 4 days to go til mine!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/12/2010 16:29

Moomin I agree, 1:110 is still pretty long odds! Talk it over with your DH to see what you want to do next.

Mummynumber2 · 03/12/2010 16:32

moomin I'm thinking of you and hope you come to a decision you feel comfortable with. As everyone else has said, the odds are your baby will not have ds. I can really understand your worry though, I hope your dh gets home soon.

Congratulations nomore, and for getting running water back too!

My scan was all good. I've had lots already but I got a really good pic this time (I'm with nomore on the idea of posting them though). I know this sounds stupid but the best thing was being able to stand in the antenatal queue. At the hospital there are 2 places to check in at the same desk, 1 is for gyne/fertility the other antenatal. I've stood at the other one for ages, looking at all the ladies with their lovely bumps and wondering if I would ever be lucky enough to be standing where they were.m
Xmas Grin

petitech · 03/12/2010 17:24

Hi all mummynumber2 what's the deal with posting scan pics then?!

BarbieLovesKen · 03/12/2010 17:57

Moomin just a quick message to let you know Im thinking of you both. I do second what everyone else has said but I can understand your anxiety. Hope your ok xxx

Mummynumber2 thought your wee story regarding queues was the sweetest thing I've ever heard. Made me all teary eyed Godamit!!! Congrats on scan, glad you got a good pic.

OP posts:
santamaxx · 03/12/2010 18:03

moomin - I agree with everyone else - just remember that the odds are in your favour - still less that 1% Smile
kara that pic is actually very flattering - I'll do another one soon which shows the bump upf ro what it really is - I even got a comment on it today, from a friend.

So glad the scans today went well Xmas Smile

bananarama05 · 03/12/2010 18:38

Oh moomin I hope DH is with you now and you've a chance to start at least thinking about talking things through, how did you get on with the MW?

TTL I'm more over Hinchingbrooke way than Addenbrookes but it did cross my mind going there. I don't hold out much faith in Hinchingbrooke, can't stand the place in all honesty and is part of the reason I'm considering the midwife led unit, guess i really should start thinking about these things a bit more seriously!

Congrats nomorechoc Xmas Smile

jasmine51 · 03/12/2010 18:48

Hi all
Scan day tomorrow - actually not looking forward to it at all - all kinds of doom clouds hanging overhead. Is this going to be a bladder full or bladder empty scan? 10 wk scan was a bladder empty one for some reason which was really annoying after sitting in the waiting room for an hour going gradually purple.

bananarama05 · 03/12/2010 19:37

so I have just signed up for every baby club going...
sainsburys
tescos
cow & gate
toys r us
mothercare

to name just a few...

can you tell i'm bored and waiting for dp to get home?!

bring on the free stuff Xmas Grin

Mummynumber2 · 03/12/2010 19:38

Petitech I'm sure there's nothing wrong with positing pics here, it's just not the kind of thing I personally feel comfortable with (although I appreciate you can't be identified by a scan pic and a bump!). I'm just a bit weird like that, don't let people see or put pics on facebook either. Xmas Smile.

Was your last scan internal Jasmine? as far as I know you usually need empty bladder for internal and full for external. Although I may well be wrong about that. Good luck, I'm really sure everything will be fine.

Hello everyone,

I haven't been on for ages, sorry to have abandoned you all Xmas Blush

I just spent the whole evening catching up on posts, loveley to see everyone's scan pictures. Sadly have no way of uploading mine, we need to get a scanner! I had my scan yesterday, it was v exciting to see a very active baby on the screen. I am convinced it is a boy, although didn't actually see anything concrete to confirm this Xmas Grin. I will copy and paste myself onto the stats now, makes it all somehow seem real!

Moomin, I hope you are OK. Thinking of you.
