Am actually thinking that compared to the perfect little bumps on here I would shock and terrify some of you with the sheer size of mine!! is that because this is baby number 3 (but pregnancy number 4)? I heard you just pop so much sooner and I look very, very pregnant!!!

Officially my first day in maternity wear - dug out an old maternity skirt this morning! I am not sure how much weight I have put on, but have a definite thickening around the waist. I have also ordered a lovely skirt off Ebay so will be looking forward to getting that in time for the weekend.

I can't remember now who was complaining about itching a few days ago, but I am sooooooo itchy it is nuts, my back especially. My skin is really tight and dry all over and it's making me a bit stir crazy!

Barbie I am very jealous of all your space Envy but it is my own fault really. We live in the middle of the city, and I think DP would move out at the drop of a hat, but I am a city girl at heart and think I'd go a bit mad if I lived too far away. I love the area we are in; fab high street, good schools, great parks, good pubs and restaurants locally, most of my friends live in walking distance, but I sometimes dream of having a big garden and a trampoline, and room to invite more than 4 people over for a bbq!

Also, I am Angry on your behalf about your scan situation; it just isn't good enough and I second everyone's advice about pressurising until you get one. Good luck.

Not much in the way of snow here Sad. Half of me fancies a snow day, the other, more sensible half of me breathes a hige sigh of relief when I wake up every morning to only a sprinkling of snow. My childminder lives at the top of the steepest dead-end road in the whole of Bristol I swear, and last January her road was closed by the police for 3 days after the whole city ran out of grit and cars were spinning back down the hill and crashing into eachother when they tried to get to the top of her road! It was impossible for me to get my son to her so I couldn't go into work for about a week! Sounds great, but sadly no-one takes over my caseload if I'm not there!

Can't stop thinking about cep Sad.

santamaxx · 02/12/2010 13:40

cep really hope things work out for you really soon - keep positive and it will be lovely if you do pop in to see us - but don't feel under pressure.

petitech - love the bump Grin

takethatlady · 02/12/2010 13:49

Lots of love, hugs and wishes for the future cep

Mummynumber2 · 02/12/2010 14:17

I tried to get dsd out in the snow this morning nurse but she was having none of it, apparently it was too cold and she didn't want to get her snow boots wet.(?!)Xmas Hmm She did graciously accept the offer of fish and chips for lunch (I had mushroom chow mein and chips Shock)and has now, after having a complete change of heart about the idea, has gone to the local park to muck about in the snow with her friends! Xmas Smile

Also Nurse, please don't worry about gaining weight. I've been trying not to weigh myself as I have a bit of a tendency to get a bit obsessed. DP keeps reminding me that it's normal to put on weight during pregnancy and frequently repeats the words 'you're not fat, you're pregnant!' It's possible that you were a bit underweight before pregnancy so some proper eating is making you healthier. I'm trying to convince myself that pregnancy is a time when you shouldn't worry about what you eat, at the mo it?s more what I can eat! I'm sure any extra weight will come off with the help of breast feeding and constant sleepless nights!

I'm itchy too 8rubberducks and have very dry skin. I sometimes get like this anyway during the winter (central heating does it I think) and using only aqueous cream to wash really helps.

8rubberduckies · 02/12/2010 14:32

Thanks for the tip Mn2.

I second Mn2 on the trying not to worry too much about your weight. Putting on weight is something that happens in pregnancy. I lost most of proegnancy weight quite quickly when I was breastfeeding, that's not to say that I could get into all of my pre-pregnancy clothes though, but i think that's more to do with my shape changing after having a baby rather than being fatter.

takethatlady · 02/12/2010 16:31

Agreeing with the others about weight gain. While it's obviously not right to start 'eating for two' I really think I can't do anything but listen to my body during my pregnancy. If that means eating nothing but peanut butter on toast for 9 months that's what I'll do. If it means giving in to all my chocolate and takeaway cravings then I will. I'm taking my vitamins, I'll try to eat as much fruit and veg as I can, and beyond that I'll eat whatever I fancy.

I'm probably saying this as though I'm generally feeling much better I threw up horribly again earlier and basically think pregnancy makes you feel crap enough without worrying about your weight too.

Maybe if the so-called 'glowing' stage is real I'll start caring about my appearance again, instead of walking about like a fat frumpy scarecrow with a hangover all day Xmas Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/12/2010 16:48

moomin156 · 02/12/2010 16:52

Hello everyone.....so many threads to catch up on. It was me that asked about itching.....it is driving me mad. Legs and arms, just like prickly heat....aaaaarrrrrggghhhhhh.
I have put on about 7-8lb and still pretty much in my old clothes, although i think maternity jeans arent far off. As i havent had morning sickness i seem to have mananged my weight quite well, i was WW prior to our holiday to Sicily where the food was heaven and there was an ice cream festival .....so some of that is natural non dieting gain LOL and then i had a BFP......I do find i am hungry though and i cant do that small regular meals i lake large portions so have just been trying to stick to my 3 meals a day.
Looking forward to maternity wear, being a first timer i get to go clothes shopping :)

moomin156 · 02/12/2010 16:59

Lovely picture kara......so cute bing on 'her' tummy :)

8rubberduckies · 02/12/2010 17:03

Moomin Yum Yum I am jealous of your recent trip to Sicily - I went there in 2007 and loved it - especially the food! I went with 2 foodie mates and we spent most of our time eating! I especially liked wandering around the food market in Palermo and eating from stalls and the little market cafes Smile.... mmmm pasta tonight methinks.....

moomin156 · 02/12/2010 17:18

We just ate so much, the Sicilians dont do things my halves do they. Think i ate my own body weight in mussells and other sea food, the pizzas were amazing and the ice cream pure heaven. Pretty good wine and cocktails too......not sure which night we will have conceived on LOL
Im just cooking a spag bol........Mmmmmm

santamaxx · 02/12/2010 17:34

Gorgeous scan picture karastarbuck Smile

NurseSnowflake · 02/12/2010 18:12

How sweet kara :) Hope you feel better soon x

Xmas Envy at your little bump petitech. And also at your toned tummy!

Thanks for reassurances guys :) I am just going to try and eat as healthily as possible from now on, both for baby and me and whatever will be weight wise will be. If necessary I'll just BF for about 3 years until it all comes off again Xmas Grin

Sorry you're still feeling rough TTL Xmas Sad I think when you've got ms just eat whatever the hell you like if you think it won't make you chuck!

Moomin, Siciky sounds amazing!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/12/2010 18:16

Thanks everyone!

Glad your scan went well too Knackered!

Barbie - I second kicking up a fuss about your scan appointment, that is seriously taking the p*!!

Dh has been working from home this week as where he works is completely shut!

petitech · 02/12/2010 18:16

Santa and Nurse now you've changed your names your photos don't seem to be visible anymore or am I missing a trick?

Clarkiee · 02/12/2010 18:26

My bump looks like I'm 20+ weeks pregnant- although I've looked pregnant since week 8 (partly why I suspected twins). I've got three pairs of trousers left that still fit me. Two that go below the bump and one pair that has always been too big for me Sad

Trying very hard to cover it up at work don't want my kids parents asking questions (going to tell them in the new year).

bananarama05 · 02/12/2010 18:31

Bless you cep coming back, hope we do hear from you again, would be great to have you back with some good news given time but no pressure obviously.

I haven't weighed myself since my booking and I DREAD to think how much I've put on, don't have scales at home but maternity wear is definitely calling.

I have a night out in London in a couple of weeks for a birthday and am deading finding something to wear, especially if it stays this cold, literally have no clue what to suggest, any ideas anyone?

With regards to dry skin / itching, I've taken to covering myself in baby oil at the end of my shower of a morning, I buy lovely expensive moisturiser and then never ever remember to use it so this seems to work better for me, a quick towel dry seems to get rid of any excess oiliness.

TTL the Torres wine is the first one I've found that isn't absolutely vile and it's got 0.5% alcohol so still just about passes as wine rather than grape flavoured rats wee, I shall be stocking up for xmas day Xmas Smile

NurseSnowflake · 02/12/2010 18:32

petitech I think it's so that if you've namechanged for privacy reasons no-one knows who you are. I'll add my scan pic to my new name

Go on then clarkiee, show us yer bump Xmas Grin

Clarkiee · 02/12/2010 18:37

My camera has died (honestly it has) but I do want to take a bump piccy so I can remember it in the future. I'll try and get one with my mums camera at the weekend Grin

banana what ever you wear make sure you have tights on!!! Bloody freezing here!

Clarkiee · 02/12/2010 18:37

Oh not that I'm anywhere near London but its bloody freezing everywhere x

bananarama05 · 02/12/2010 18:38

ooh I meant to ask if anyone/everyone still eating Parmesan?

Sorry I know we did the cheese subject before but have confused myself recently.

The food standards agency website says its fine as it's a hard cheese but all the packaging in Sainsburys says its made with unpasteurised milk so best avoided by expectant mums...is that just them being ultra careful and avoiding getting themselves sued?

bananarama05 · 02/12/2010 18:40

I'm Cambridgeshire clarkiee and we've had about 2 cm of snow so far! Feel like we're missing out a bit. Bloody cold though, just sneaked the heating up to about 22, DP's out so no-one to shout at me about the bills! :)

Clarkiee · 02/12/2010 18:41

Hmmm surely you only have a little bit of parmeesan at a time anyway so sure its fine. We've only got the stuff in a tub that used to be called parmesan and is now called 'hard cheese' Hmm

Clarkiee · 02/12/2010 18:43

Snow has been slightly lack where I am to (Greater Manchester) maybe not even 2cm. No where near enough to warrent a day off work Sad. Crank that heating up banana!
