Baublepink · 01/12/2010 21:55

I was last a size 8-10 in 1998 when I existed on a pint of milk and a bag of crisps as a day's decent food intake (student) Xmas Smile

bananarama05 · 01/12/2010 22:01

congrats on scans everyone :)

I've had falling over number two, walking the dog this morning, honestly I shouldn't be let out unsupervised! All fine, just a bit of a sore wrist and bruised eg, not that many people were up at 10 to 7 this morning to see down my road!

We've had bugger all snow here, very disappointing, just enough to freeze up and make silly people like me go sliding around.

just wanted to share my favourite new thing EVER...Torres non alcohol wine, it tastes like actual wine!! My long old walk in the cold to Waitrose at lunchtime was so worth it Grin

NurseSnowflake · 01/12/2010 22:12

Oooh oh I'm 8-10 MN2, please may I have some clothsies?

Ouch sorry about your wrist banana, at least your pride wasn't bruised Xmas Smile I've managed to avoid slipping over so far though I have come quite close. But I laughed at a friend who fell today (after making sure he was ok, obviously!) so I reckon karma's out to get me now

bananarama05 · 01/12/2010 22:16

aah that was meant to say bruised ego not eg, oopsie! and yes i would say you need to get yourself some extra grip shoes now as i reckon karma will be keeping its eye on you! Xmas Wink

Mummynumber2 · 01/12/2010 22:29

Of course you can nurse, they're yours Grin

NurseSnowflake · 01/12/2010 22:31

Oh I thought it was meant to say "bruised etc", hence my non bruised pride comment! Yeah, karma's a bitch Xmas Grin I deserve it, but in my defence, it was really funny.

NurseSnowflake · 01/12/2010 22:32

Yay thanks mn2! At least I can look super fly when I'm falling on my bottom in 3 foot of snow Xmas Grin

bananarama05 · 01/12/2010 22:40

To be fair I bet I looked like a right tit considering the dog didn't want to stop and tried to pull me along! Blush

takethatlady · 02/12/2010 08:08

Poor you banana Xmas Grin

Not sure I'd like you non-alcoholic wine. The alcohol is the best bit IMO Xmas Smile

Not much snow here either, though there's a lot of wet snow falling right now ... staying in and working from home today. Going to put the fire on and try not to worry about my easing ms ...

Mummynumber2 · 02/12/2010 08:30

Good morning everyone. Dsd and I are having a day off, her school's closed and I'm using it as an excuse Xmas Grin.

Barbie I'm appalled at how late your scan is! There was a bit of a cock up with mine (I wasn't too worried as I'm having lots anyway!) and my midwife phoned the hospital while I was there and demanded that they sorted it out straight away, she also insisted that I got an appt with the consultant the same week (she's a bit scary but very lovely Xmas Grin.) Is yours being much help? I agree with others, keep ringing the hospital and your midwife until they're so pissed off with you that they sort it out.

NurseSnowflake · 02/12/2010 09:15

Morning!

I've got another snow day as well :) so no placement for me today. suppose I'd better build a snowman or something instead. Are you going to do that with your DSD MN2?

That's good your MW is firmly on your side btw. That's what their meant to be like Xmas Smile

Gah have just inadvisedly weighed myself for the first time in ages (been putting it off) and I have gained 11lbs Xmas Sad At least I can stomach fruit and veg now so can start eating healthily again.

neenewps · 02/12/2010 09:51

Morning all

More snow here too.. am getting a wee bit fed up of it now. Am going to go to the Christmas market later to have Bratwurst and waffles :)

nurse when did you start putting on weight? I'm still worried about my weight loss..

LisasCat · 02/12/2010 09:54

I made it in to work this morning, feeling that the piddley inch of snow around our place was not really a good enough excuse, but so far I've had nothing but brownie points and management respect from people. I live out in the sticks in a little rural village, which automatically makes people assume I must have 3 feet of snow, despite being only 13 miles outside of the city where I work. Apparently if there's a sheep or a cow within a stone's throw of your front door, the clouds dump extra snow on your doorstep.

Anyhoo, forgot to mention the other day, but at my booking in appointment on Monday I was assigned a PhD student as well as my proper MW. As I understand it, she's a qualified MW who's writing a study that requires close observation and involvement with some pregnancies from start (well, not literally from that very point in time!), up to a couple of weeks after delivery. I have no problem with being her case study, and in fact I get a bit of a bonus as well. She will be in attendance at every appointment (apart from scans) and at the birth, regardless of whether I deliver at the MLU or have to go to the hospital, so I'm going have a familiar face there with me whatever happens, which I obviously wouldn't have if I went to the hospital. And as long as there are no serious complications, she'll be the one stationed down that end, taking physical delivery of the baby when it pitches up and doing all the initial checks. I think that's quite nice, that I'm going to have someone so interested and involved in the whole process. And on top of it all she seems lovely, so extra bonus.

I wonder what my baby's case study name will be - I might request Child X of the Final Frontier.

NurseSnowflake · 02/12/2010 09:57

As soon as I found out I was pg I guess, because I didn't used to eat very well and when I found out I was determined to eat regularly and then with ms I just ate whatever didn't make me heave which was usually unhealthy. But I should've been more careful, you're not meant to put anything on in 1st trimester.
I wouldn't worry too much about weight loss neenewps is it because of ms? Were you healthy weight before being pg?

knackered76 · 02/12/2010 10:00

Morning all!

Had an interesting morning trying to get dd to school but finally managed it and only 10 minutes late!

Nurse I really have to start eating healthier as well, having been comfortable in the knowledge I was eating what I wanted and not putting on any weight but I have put on 5 lbs in the last week Blush. Think I took a bit too much to heart being able to eat what I wanted Grin

Can't remember if there are any scans today but good luck if there are and good luck to those having scans over the weekend. I shall not be around for a few days Grin

Barbie Rubbish for you :( I'm a sucker for private scans for reassurance, if you manage one then I would. Annoying that you have to but it's worth the peace of mind. Oh and agree with others that you need to go and kick some arseGrin

Right, off to pack . . . .

neenewps · 02/12/2010 10:31

Thanks nurse for easing my mind. I'm on a countdown to my scan now. I just want to know everything is ok.

I have had ms but not to the point of actually being sick, just retching and nausea.

Maybe the weight loss is due to the fact that I'm no longer doing nightshifts and eating at weird times?!!

Good luck today for anyone with scans. And be careful out there in the snow ladies Xmas Smile

takethatlady · 02/12/2010 10:36

I think it's normal to lose or gain up to 5lbs in the first trimester ... I was looking up the fact that all my symptoms have really eased this week (am 10+3) and one of the pages I came across suggested that while you're only likely to put on a lb or 2 by 10 weeks that most women then put on up to 5lbs by 13 weeks ... so if you're at that stage knackered, that might be why!

OMG Barbie - that is abslutely shocking! I really hope someone pulls their finger out and gets something done about this. I am exceptionally Envy about your garden and gorgeous dogs.

knackered - I know what you mean - that particular wee boy is a precocious PITA - but I keep imagining it's me leaving DS - pathetic. What a fantastic house they live in though - very Envy

nursesnowflake - don't worry - I always gain a lot in pregnancy - always 2stone by 20wks which is a lot more than advised - it all comes off within a year though, probably thanks to bfing Wink

neenewps - all the guidebooks do say that it's perfectly normal to lose a few lbs in the first 12 weeks as well Smile

I dreamed that I had the baby last night - think it was a girl but it was born at 4mths gestation and no one seemed worried about this Shock except me. Some doctor whisked the baby away to feed it formula and I was going mental, demanding the baby be given back to me.
Really strange.

I bought 3 pairs of maternity trousers from h&m the other day - what a relief to have a warm tummy again - even if they feel a bit odd and fall down a bit.
I had to buy 2 dress sizes bigger than normal (even in maternity) Shock

cep · 02/12/2010 11:07

hello everyone, just a quick pop in to say that it all started itself this morning, so i won't be having the op tomorrow. I won't go into the gruesome details as it's not that nice, lets just say i got the chance to say goodbye. I didn't find the pic but not so sure i really want it i think it might be healthier not to have it to be honest.

I just want to thank you for your supporting comments, they are greatly appreciated.
dh stayed home today and had already booked tomorrow off anyway. I'll be going to my parents next week. This is likely to be my last visit for a little while and although i may pop in to see how you're all doing it may not be for a while. I wish all of you the very best of luck i look forward to seeing the pics on here in June. Congratulations to all of you. Have wonderful christmases

knackered76 · 02/12/2010 11:29

cep thinking of you and dh and pleased he has been able to be there to support you and you've been able to say goodbye. I wish you all the luck in the future. I've only just gone back to my previous ante-natal thread so completely understand not popping in, sometimes it's just too hard. Take care of you.

8rubberduckies · 02/12/2010 11:52

Cep thinking of you, I really feel for you and I hope you are being looked after, and hopefully we will hear from you in the not-too-distant future with some good news xxxx

petitech · 02/12/2010 12:00

5lbs isn't much, think I'm on wk 14 now and approx 12lb heavier! Have uploaded bump pic, apologies for pants shot hehe

BarbieLovesKen · 02/12/2010 12:05

cep so lovely of you to pop by and completely understandable that we may not see you here for a while. Am glad you have support at home. Im so sorry you are going through this. Will be thinking of you xx

Petitech am so, so Envy at you perfectly toned and firm, lovely baby bump!!!!

I too am in week 14 (15 weeks Saturday) and have put on 12-14lbs Shock Im actually really upset about it but shouldnt be suprised as this is always the way I "do" pregnant. Sad Im dreading having about 4-5 stone to loose after and know Ill get all arsey about it. Oh well..

Didnt have this much on at this stage with ds but really think its down to how sick I've been, ate the worse things I possibly could in an attempt to keep something down and also, a lot of the time, I only dont feel sick when Im actually chewing!! Funny, considering at one stage I was vomiting up to 5 times a day. T'would take me.
