Vix7 · 04/11/2010 00:03

Katharine (Kiki) born 3 nov 9.11pm. 7lb 12oz.
V traumatic birth so will post details later. Birth plan got totally thrown out the window.

blondecat · 04/11/2010 00:30

Congratulations Vix

Hope you can now rest and recover

Hmmm birth plans begin to sound well not quite plan like

bunnygirl80 · 04/11/2010 06:07

Congratulations mumcha, babybean and vix

Sounds like you all had a bit of a rough ride.

Wallace · 04/11/2010 07:13

Congratulations umcha, babybean and vix :)

Good luck fen!

JFly · 04/11/2010 07:38

Congrats to mumcha, babybean and Vix. Sorry to hear about traumatic births. My birth plan went out the window, too, but I was glad to have it as the MW were fully aware of what I wanted, regardless of how things actually panned out. They read it and referred to it throughout. Will have one again, definitely.

Pidgin · 04/11/2010 08:08

Congratulations Babybean, Mumcha, and Vix and happy belated birthday grinningbee!

I've given up on perineal massage so pleased to hear that doctor's view, blondecat. I did try a couple of times but what with reaching round the bump and trying to read the book on how to do it properly at the same time, it was not very comfortable!

Good luck Fenouille!

comtessa · 04/11/2010 09:13

blondecat hope that the caesarean goes well - sorry to hear about your extended hospital visit.

Vix congratulations on your new baby! But sad to hear you had a traumatic birth to go through to get her. Hope you are recovering and bonding well.

Pidgin I'm with you on the perineal massage, not sure I can even reach now.

lainey1981 · 04/11/2010 09:42

another day + more babies , how exciting. congratulations to vix & mumcha though sorry to hear that births were difficult.

so glad to hear that pereneal massage isn't worth it, I wasn't looking forward to tackling that one.

right am off to channel my pregna-rage towards my BIL (in thought if not word) - got distressing phonecall from my sister at 7am to say she caught him and my other (19yrold) sister kissing last night Shock.
tbh have suspected for a while but after all the other goings on with my eastender storyline family this summer I didn't want to believe it.
poor DSis is in shock and just trying to stay sane for her 4 DDs
i am v Angry & Sad

umf · 04/11/2010 09:59

Congratulations babybean, vix and mumcha! V glad to hear of the safe arrivals, though those sound like v distressing births. Hospitals just shouldn't be so crap in 2010.

lainey oh no! another family bent on causing heavily pg sister as much worry as possible in final weeks! tho my brother has turned up in a psychiatric unit, which is a very good thing, since it means he's safe and supposedly getting help and coming off drugs.

lainey1981 · 04/11/2010 10:05

umf i know they are a nightmare. Glad to hear you brother is safe, fingers crossed for his recovery x

grinningbee · 04/11/2010 10:25

Congratulations to Vix and Mumcha and hope you put the trauma behind you soon.

Hmmsleep thank you for the bold 40 Grin

Sorry to hear of the family troubles too Umf (sorry - DrUmf Grin) and Lainey. The timing is rubbish, not that these sorts of problems are good at any time.

I still keep crying at stupid things. I'm hoping it's a sign that someone will arrive soon. Last night I was bawling my eyes out because I'd mistakenly bought salmon en croute instead of chicken (the boxes are identical in sainsburys) and dh is allergic to fish. He'd cooked it and dished it up before we realised... meaning he didn't read the box either.

I was grumpy in the pub too because I'm uncomfortable, and people keep making stupid comments like "not had it yet then?" and "oh, it will be so much harder with two" and "you look really tired". I wanted to rip their faces off last night! Grin

Oh, and just for laughs, a couple we are friends with were due to move this weekend and dh was going to help them. It has now been changed to next weekend. My due date. I shall be taking the hospital bag etc I think... at least their house is on the way to the hospital Hmm

JFly · 04/11/2010 10:39

I haven't had much pregnarage this time, but there's still a few weeks to let loose! Although my DH has said recently that pregnancy doesn't agree with me. Hmm

But I must tell the story of when I was pg with DS and went to the pub for dinner. Nice food, but a bit pretentious place thinking it deserves Michelin stars or something.

I was ordering food (at the bar, mind you) and the bartender told me steaks were prepared med-rare and that I couldn't have my steak cooked med-well.

I cried. At the bar. And then ran back to table so DH could finish ordering for me. It was not my finest hour. I was tired and had just done a hideous commute. But, still, the guy was a prick and it was a ridiculous thing to say, never mind to a heavily pregnant woman!

Good luck to Fen and Boris. Am thinking scheduled CS has to be better than EMCS, any day, right? Hope all goes to plan for you both.

Pidgin · 04/11/2010 11:10

JFly that's v funny! That was indeed a ridiculous thing to say - what, is the chef incapable of leaving the meat in the pan for an extra 90 seconds?! I had a similar incident on holiday ordering lamb, with the posh waiter telling me it came med rare when I asked for well done, and me saying, 'but I can't have any blood!', which wasn't the best way of expressing what I meant...

OMG Lainey! How awful for your sister.

And glad to hear your brother has turned up Umf, sounds unbelievably stressful, late pregnancy or not.

Sorry to hear you are feeling teary grinning - the hormones don't help - I also feel unable to cope with minor setbacks like the salmon/ chicken thing - just feel less resilient altogether - it will pass soon, hopefully!

Well, I think I've lost my mucous plug - cue feeling very excited - then reading What To Expect and realising labour could still be weeks away - cue gnashing of teeth... But at least I guess it means something is moving down there...

Vix7 · 04/11/2010 11:46

Totally not gone to plan birth story.
Scheduled for birthcentre, water birth, gas n air.

Contractions started tue evening. Waited till wed morn 5am to get to birth centre as had been bearable till then. 6am measured 6cm dilation. Jumped into birthpool for next few hours.
10am 7cm.
2pm 8cm.
Getting v tired by then as didn't sleep a wink before and cldnt really eat or drink. Considered transferring to hospital for epi but mw said I wasn't far off n encouraged me to continue.
4pm mws had concerns abt high blood pressure n high heart rate n advised a transfer. 10cm dilation by then.
Got to hospital 530pm. Kept asking for epi but kept getting delayed or put off by staff. Was exhausted by then. Mw broke waters n found meconium in fluid. Advised against epi as I was v close already. Sytocin on drip to bring on contractions as they stopped after the stress of transfer. Tried pushing for abt 1.5h in most undignified legs in stirrups position. No progress.
Had zero batt left n was begging for epi or emcs.
Consultants/registrars/anasthetist finally met n decided labour progress was too slow n meconium in waters too risky for such slow progress. Offered assisted delivery or if nt successful then EMCS. Too tired and emotional and just wanted baby out safe. Was pretty much in tears by then.
Finally got into op theatre 830pm, anasthetized lower body n baby got yanked out 911pm. Still has faint forceps mark on her cheeks. She had to be taken away to get cleaned up cos of the meconium so didn't get immediate skin to skin.

Hope tt didn't scare the rest still waiting to pop.
She's put her mama thru hell but you know what....I reckon she's worth it. Amazingly alert and calm bub.

PrivetDancer · 04/11/2010 12:40

Congratulations Vix7! That does sound very traumatic and drawn out :(
I hope you're feeling ok now and not in too much pain from stitches etc. Will you be home today?

comtessa · 04/11/2010 12:42

Eeek. Sorry to hear you had such a difficult time Vix but very glad to hear your little DD is doing well. Hope you're starting to recover from it all. Well done on getting through.

hmmSleep · 04/11/2010 12:45

Congratulations Vix7, you must have been exhausted, but I'm sure Kiki is worth all the trouble Smile.

Still no sleep here, Lottie seems to think the moses basket is the work of the devil, and will only sleep when I'm holding her. I feed, burp, change, feed again then try putting her down ans she screams! As soon as I pick her up she falls fast asleep, try and put her down again and more screaming. She is a monkey and I'm looking like more of a sleep deprived cave woman by the day!

sancerrre · 04/11/2010 13:10

Congrats to Vix, mumcha and babybean. Sorry to hear about the traumatic births. As one waiting to go through it for the first time, really appreciate when you say it was worth it for the end result though!

Have been told baby is engaged and could come in the next week, think she was just saying that to try to make me give up work though.

Good luck to Fenouille and everyone else having signs of something happening soon. Look forward to hearing about more babies.

comtessa · 04/11/2010 13:11

PS Love Kiki as a short form of Katherine Smile

AddictedIsAMummy · 04/11/2010 13:16

oh hmm sleep i had that problem, my baby girl would sleep in her bouncy chair, in her cot (in the nusery when i'm busy upstairs) or on me or dh but try and pu her in her moses basket and she would cry and cry and cry. Funnly enough she developed colic and when we started giving her infacol she started sleeping in her basket, 2 nights so far touch wood it continues!

Congratulations to all the new mummies, and to everyone thats still prregnant and expeariencing pregnarage, it wont be much longer. Put your feet up and rest.

Rinnyx · 04/11/2010 13:20

Oh yet more babies, congrats to all you new mummys :)
Now anyone want to tell my DS to get his butt out of my ribs and be born already Grin

comtessa · 04/11/2010 13:40

(has stern words with Rinnyx DS and raises eyebrow firmly in his direction)

rollerbaby · 04/11/2010 13:46
