Jupiter "Bump seems massive all of a sudden - and if one more person asks me when I'm due, I say March and they raise eyebrows as if to say f* you ar massive I may lamp them - Christmas or not."

Totally the same here- I'm 27 weeks too and everyone in my department expresses surprise at how big my bump is. Great- helpful! Can't do anything about it can I!

Had my flu jab on Friday- thought about it for a couple of days but working where I work and commuting every day on germ-ridden tubes I didn't want to risk it. Baby has been moving loads since so I'm sure it's fine.

We've moved half of our worldy goods into a storage unit until early April- so I have a minimalist flat (for the first time EVER!) full of baby boy things now. We won't have a nursery or room for him until we move but we'll have him in the crib next to us anyway. Have bought lots of clothes from the posh charity shop for him and loved washing and folding and putting them away. Can't wait to meet the little man now.

Also not liking the snow/icy pavements. I'm walking so slowly at the moment to avoid falling. 2 more days in work until a proper break though- yeay!

jammiedodger2 · 21/12/2010 16:51

Hi ladies
Finally slowing down at work as HR have had a hissy fit and said I can only visit clients on gritted roads!Xmas Grin Where I live the town centre is in a valley with the residential areas up all the hills (1/10) so a tiny bit of snow and the whole place tends to grind to a halt.
Two of my lovely colleagues have bought me snow spikes which I put on over my boots to stop me slipping which I think is the sweetest thing.
Am feeling lots of movement at the mo and also starting to feel a bit tired.DH has finally rescued my maternity pillow which we were using to muffle the bass drum in ds drum kit and thats made a huge difference.
look after yourselves!
jx

1Catherine1 · 21/12/2010 19:36

Jammie your work colleagues are so nice. Nice to have people looking after you :)

Well, motivated by Larty's supper organisedness (pretty sure that's not a word but hey...) I have been a busy bunny today. I can't have a nursery because of the size of my flat but I spent a few hours rearranging my bedroom so that my DD will have her own corner that is completely dedicated to her. That means I can have everything baby in one place. Still need to do a bit of tidying in the room but my back has started to hurt from rearranging furniture so I'm taking a break!

me23 · 21/12/2010 20:14

Have your dates changed kpidgeon? I'm sure you were due after me I'm 23/3 and not 27 weeks until tomorrow.

I can't believe that in the next 2 weeks we will all be in the 3rd trimester Smile

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 21/12/2010 21:26

Have decided that from now on any pregnant woman I see I'm going to say "what a perfect bump" no matter what size - even if it looks like quads or an ironing board! Grin

KPidgeon · 21/12/2010 21:50

Oh dear- me23 no- I'm only 26 weeks. How did I do that? Wishful thinking. I thought I'd be 7 months this weekend! Great- so I'm even bigger for my weeks than I thought!

Jupiter118 · 21/12/2010 22:12

Oooh Larty I don't know. Know lots of people who have ended up buying an XLR and been v pleased with it. Guess it lasts from birth - toddlerdom. If you live near a John Lewis I would go and test drive both, check putting up and down and fit in boot of car. Also read reviews - here sure there are threads or on somewhere like kiddiecare. So much of it comes down to personal preference.

Glad that others are fed up with the bump comments also - like now panics suggestion. I am sure as much as I am humungous there are other people who are frustrated by having a small bump.

Bored of the snow now - resorted to walking out earlier with a hiking/trekking pole. Probably looked as if should be taken to the ffunny farm, but did feel much steadier and so happier.

x

sam26oscar · 21/12/2010 22:35

evening ladies,
glad we're all experiencing lots of movements now!! Can't believe it was that long ago we were all anxiously waiting for 12 week scans Grin
My bump seems smaller than last time with DS1, although my sister commented on how huge i looked," God you've got 4 months to go," until i pointed out it was actually only 10 weeks!! I haven't seen her for a while and she lives abroad so forgave her!!!!

We have finally had snow, i know most of you are pretty sick of it now but its always a novelty for me as i live by the sea so don't get it that often!!!

I am travelling to Scotland on New years day to DH new work place and we are taking DS1 so he can picture daddy's new work base and home (he will come back at weekends)and me and DS1 are flying home a few days later but as i will be 32 weeks the airline want a Drs or midwife letter. Tried to make appt with m/w and she can fit me in on 10th Jan next year???? Explained to receptionist and she advised me to call back in morning and ask m/w to speak with me! M/W letter free doctors letter about £25!

Hope you all feeling festive, have to admit i am but still have a feeling of can't be bothered i'm sure by christmas eve i will have cheered myself up Grin

take care x

PipPipPip · 22/12/2010 00:46

Hi ladies,

glad everyone is well.

I've just been for big Christmas dinner with friends and was loved/admired/patted/poked/overfed. I'm the first person in the 'gang' to have a baby and I'm quite touched (literally and figuratively!) by how excited all my friends are.

I had to laugh at Jupiter's comment about people asking when she's due then raising their eyebrows. I've had people give me the same look! I'm already pretty massive. I'm going to copy NowPanicAndFreakOut and tell all pregnant women I meet that their bump looks 'just perfect' regardless of how they look.

Hope you're all getting lots of love in the festive season x

Darnsarfupnorf · 22/12/2010 00:55

markin my place! Baby girl due 25.3.11 v excited!! tho startin to feel a bit uncomfortable already :(

staying with parents and 18 yr old brother for xmas an new year and have spent the last 3 days arguing that being 7 months pregnant IS an excuse not to walk the dog in a blizzard!!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 22/12/2010 01:05

Welcome Darns - you're due on my birthday!!! Great to have another night owl on this thread!

Darnsarfupnorf · 22/12/2010 01:31

yeey! if im not distracted with the other rather important event on that day ill come on an say happy bday!
when are you due?

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 22/12/2010 03:51

Ugh I hate heartburn! Gaviscon is over rated...

Darns 5th March is my due day - pretty much the only day I'd take a bet it won't happen!!!! (have never known anyone give birth on their due date!!)

Xx

Medee · 22/12/2010 09:38

Welcome Darn.

me23 · 22/12/2010 12:16

Aw kpidgeon don't fret I'm sure your bump is just perfect Smile
27 weeks today, measured my own bump and it was 27 weeks bang on.
Welcome Darn I think being 7 months pregnant is an excuse to not do anything you don't want to Wink
I had a letter today from dr's dated the 16th Hmm 1st post we've had in about a week, asking me to make a gp appt, I had some bloods and urine sample done last week so prob found something wrong, maybe the antibiotics I was on for UTI weren't the right ones, or I'm anaemic which I'm pretty used to by now!
funnily enough I have an appt with gp today anyway!

KPidgeon · 22/12/2010 12:33

Thanks me hope all goes well with you at the GP. Doesn't sound like you're having the easiest time of it.

Phew- last day in work today before a break. There are no students here and about 2 members of staff in my department. But one of them is my boss, darn it. I keep hoping he'll take pity on me and my enormous tummy and let me go home. No sign of that yet!

NowPanic my colleague's wife gave birth last week bang on her due date- we joked that it's because they are German. Very efficient of them!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/12/2010 14:37

NowPanic - I actually had my DS1 bang on his due date. However, DS2 came 11 days late so I got paid back for my effciency first time round.

Well, we did it. We went Christmas shopping yesterday and whilst in Oxford Street decided to take a look in Mothercare and test drive a few pushchairs.

Toss up was between the silvercross pramette type one or the Loola..... the Loola was on promotion for only £175 and a couple came in with their baby in it and we had a good long conversation about it. I didnt even know that it came in red so very excited that I have a red pushchair (my fave colour). We havent gone for any of the attachments as we have a car seat and are still deciding about carry cot. We also bought a cot, matress and baby bjorn sling plus a set of baby gros and vests so feel like if baby decides to make an early appearance at least we can get by, even bought a pack of nappies. I have a McClaren for DS2 which is suitable from 9 months so if the Loola lasts for 14 months then that is ok for us especially as we got it for a lot less than we thought.

So now we are ready for baby and ready for Christmas. Yay.

I really fancy a litle break but dont expect to get one really we have DS2 birthday early Jan and then DS1 in Feb so not much opportunity esp cost wise.

Hello to all.

1Catherine1 · 22/12/2010 20:34

Oh dear Mixed, you know there are a whole 12 months in a year? You seem to have all your expensive ones grouped together
Dec (xmas) - Jan (DC2) - Feb (DC1) - Mar (DC3)

Welcome Darns, I'd say being 7 months pregnant makes you exempt from dog walking duties whatever the weather personally.

Sam good luck travelling to Scotland, I hear the weather is still pretty nasty up there so take care!! I'm still also not overly excited by the prospect of Christmas and don't anticipate becoming excited. I got my presents from my mum and brother already which I love (cotbed mattress and bedding for it - inc the cutest 0-6mo sleeping bag) Unfortunately since my OH works in the hotel/pub industry he will be working Christmas day so I'm anticipating spending the day at home with my 2 cats and no Christmas dinner or presents to open. Yes, I'm a big kid and see Christmas as a time for presents and a big dinner, OH said we should get anything for each other as we have a LO on the way and "we don't need presents, we have each other" to which I was thankful I was on the phone to him at the time so he couldn't see my disappointment. Wink Then on boxing day I have the pleasure of driving all the way to Bournemouth to pick up OH Dsis and BIL who (So I learnt today) will be staying in our little flat for a couple of days so my whole flat needs rearranging by then. Angry Oh, I also got my present of the government, my HIP grant appeared in my account less than 2 weeks after sending off the form. :)

Well I must admit to being rather envious of those people who can actually get out and about at the moment. Today after being snowed in since Saturday I decided that I was going out to do some food shopping only to find that after spending an hour uncovering the car of snow I still couldn't move my car because of all the snow on the road. Now 6 months pregnant might not get me out of getting the snow off the car but I think it kinda rules out getting it from under the car. During my clearing exercise I also slipped on the ice and grabbed onto my car to stop me going over and pulled a muscle in my belly as I did it, by then I'd had enough and decided to return to my prison flat.

TooImmature2BMum · 22/12/2010 22:42

I'm just outside Edinburgh and it snowed again this evening - where are you going in Scotland, Sam?

I am trying to get excited because today was my last day at work before Christmas and now I have 13 days off, yay! Trouble is, I'm knackered. Maybe the excitement will kick in after a good night's sleep. I wasn't supposed to have tomorrow off, but DH and I decided on Monday that one day more leave wasn't going to hurt anything, and I'm so glad we did.

Tomorrow I'll be 30 weeks - weirdness! I'm going down to PIL tomorrow and I bet I get lots of "you're huge" comments - FIL is not exactly tactful or tuned in to women. My internet access will be extremely limited for the next week or so, so Merry Christmas, everyone! Have a great time and I hope you get excellent presents. Xmas Smile

Jupiter118 · 22/12/2010 23:28

Ladies - prepare thick skins for untactful inlaw (outlaw) comments. My outlaws arrive Christmas eve I think. Outlaws no drinking not looking forward tbh - sense will have number of long baths or afternoon naps!!

Not feeling that festive either tbh - have work tomorrow and friday am. Really need to wrap presents but too uncomfortable on floor - only 27.5 weeks - more discomfort to come. Have growth scan next week - hope not measuring too large or anything. When expecting DS they were insistent he would be 9.5lb and he was only 7lb 3 - had enough fluid for small desert tribe.

Mixedmama - red loola nice choice!! if you wanted a carry cot ebay might be worth a look?

Catherine hope you manage to get out tomorrow before cabin fever sets in.

x

Muser · 22/12/2010 23:51

We are off to the in-laws on Friday, but I genuinely love my in-laws. They treat me just like one of the family and are huge amounts of fun. And there is always tons of food and wine and laughing. Not that much wine for me this year though. Boo.

OP posts:
PipPipPip · 23/12/2010 09:39

Muser same with my in-laws. They're such generous hosts, and just ply me with food. The minute I walk into a room, they all leap up to get me a drink. I'm hoping my partner and I will also be able to take lots of naps, sleep ins and read in bed. Genuinely looking forwards to it.

Happy Christmas everyone!

StrangewaysHereICome · 23/12/2010 11:35

Okay where did December go?? I am feeling decidedly unchristmassy atm because we are surfacing from a fluey couple of weeks and have missed all the parties, disco's and trips out that usually prepare me for feeling Christmassy!! Even the snow hasn't made me feel any more perky!

Both dc had the bug and me too, although I thinkg I escaped quite lightly following my flu jab. It does meant we have been housebound for two weeks and my youngest is still recovering so we still can't get out much. Luckily I did alot of shopping and present wrapping in November, maybe I had some sort of subconscious premonition!

I did manage to get out for a mw check and all is well, except bubs is breech. This has got me worried as I sooooo want my homebirth but I knnow there is time for the baby to turn. Time to get the birth ball out and wiggling my bum in the air!!

Take care everyone and I hope you all have a fab Christmas. We are off to my parents so I am hoping to be looked after and get a chance to relax Xmas Smile.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 23/12/2010 11:52

Catherine - hope things improve for you. Unfortuantely it isnt just the children and xmas but my mum's birthday, dads birthday, brotherss birthday as well from 14 nov onwards. not well planned.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 23/12/2010 12:01

oh and mothercare said they would be delivering our cot/pushchair etc after 4th jan... we ordered tuesday - they have all arrived today.
