idk what tums are. I manage by eating Rennies like they're sweets, chalky sweets. If it is really bad though I have to get the gaviscon out too although since I hate the taste they are always my back up option.

Larty74 · 19/12/2010 16:01

Well folks, we have one finished nursery - ready to be moved into. [fbear] And although we had to cancel our family christmas do today cuz of the snow, i'm starting to get into this christmas thing. might even go to the village carol concertXmas Grin

Gaviscon or rennies do it for me as well and are ok to have!

gem3225 · 19/12/2010 16:37

thanks for the advice,i went for the chewy rennies in the end, mint flavour.ill see how they go.

larty well done, its a nice feeling knowing when you get things sorted,im amining for after christmas.

Muser · 19/12/2010 17:15

Wow, that's super organised Larty. We are not organised here, although we are doing lots of clear outs. We won't have a nursery anyway, baby is in with us. There'll be some bits in the study to keep clothes in and I've bought some wall stickers to put up on the bits of wall that won't be full of our books.

Hoping sometime in the second half of next year we'll be able to move somewhere bigger. Maybe then baby will get its own room!

OP posts:
TooImmature2BMum · 19/12/2010 18:29

Slightly envious of your organisation, Larty! The 'nursery' has regressed and is now DH's weight room Hmm, as he bought lots of weights and a halogen heater just before the snow started and said he was going to have a weight room in the shed. I pointed out he would freeze and use up heaps of electricity and said he should put them in the baby's room for now. Big mistake. Big huge mistake. It doesn't look like we are ever going to be snow-free again (and DH doesn't look any musclier to me) and it is impossible to get in about the weights bench with a bump getting in the way. There is also still a massive bag of old clothes and shoes waiting to go to charity which I sorted out about 2 months ago Blush

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 19/12/2010 18:51

Gem sorry about your heartburn - mine hit properly for the first time on Friday. Only got two hours' sleep as it kept waking me up - miserable. Found Gaviscon "chewable" (yeah, if you want every tooth coated in chalky gunk!) totally inedible and didn't help at all. Last night lemon juice eased it a lot and today I've managed to get some Rennies which I hope are better. Local shop didn't have anything else but if it continues will get some proper Gaviscon tomorrow (is the one that works the liquid?).

Larty very jealous of your organisation - I'm not even moving until beginning of Feb so have managed nothing yet.

GeekLove · 19/12/2010 23:22

Anybody finding that their bump occupant is now big enough to do some really impressive moves?
I swear mine tried to dona flying kick just now.

Muser · 20/12/2010 09:21

Mine likes to kick and punch at the same time. And it's permanently lodged under my right rib. I keep having to poke it back so I can sit down.

OP posts:
Larty74 · 20/12/2010 09:25

I've been playing poking games with mine to see what responses I get. Smile

am988 · 20/12/2010 13:01

sam also having some pains under bump - but it is not constant. It could be ligaments stretching, but not sure - thing is I don't feel it all the time - it comes and goes so that is why I'm not too worried I guess. It is worse in the evenings when I feel really bloated.

Re: flu jabs not sure - I've had the flu for about 3 weeks it seems, the first week was bad, second a bit less, but now still sniffing and blowing my nose - at night it gets all blocked up which is annoying because then I have to sleep with mouth open which makes my throat/lips feel dry -then I need to drink - and then I need to pee... What can you do?

Tomorrow appointment with consultant - another scan - blood tests etc.. the whole lot. Hope it goes ok a bit worried.. last time they saw two little fibriods - i'm hoping they didn't grow too much to cause problems - but we'll have to see what the wise people say!

Take care all, and beware of the icy pavements!

xx Am

Medee · 20/12/2010 13:59

Had my 28week appointment today ? all seems fine, bump measuring 30cm so bigger than my weeks, but no issue ? though midwife expected me to be smaller, said I have a deceptive bump! Also got my Anti-D - got it in my thigh rather than my bum, which was marginally better.

GeekLove · 20/12/2010 14:38

am988 - I had a head cold for a month and now have another more half-hearted cold. I found the only thing that got me through the night is Breath-Right nose strips. They are non-druggy and work by exerting tension on the outside of your nose to keep the passages clear.
Also Vaseline is your friend as well in this weather. It is the only reason my nose does not resemble Rudolphs!

Oceanbreeze · 20/12/2010 14:41

Urgh, sooo bored of the snow & cold - sorry if anyone else is still enjoying it! Got frozen pipes today, so water is iffy - plumber can't get to us til later in the week. Just hope they don't burst when/if they thaw out.

No nursery here either - spare room which BabyBreeze will share with all manner of assorted junk until he's old enough to get annoyed/damaged by it.

We have however bought the buggy/pram/carseat combo thingummy. Went for a Babystyle Oyster in the end - seemed to suit our needs, and we were impressed with it in the shop.

Also suffering with heartburn - worst at night when it wakes me up or stops me sleeping Angry Depending on time of day I try drinking some water, eating a biscuit, or, urgh, gaviscon. Nasty stuff.

Good luck tomorrow Am and glad your appointment went ok today Medee

superpenguin · 20/12/2010 17:53

Larty I don't know what makes the prams are, not any I had heard of, just liked the look of them.

we are still going to buy a brand new car seat though.

bluebeach · 20/12/2010 18:38

woa! you had your aniti d in your thigh?? That sounds horrid, I had mine in my arm like a normal jab and it was a real stinger so can't imagine what it would have been like anywhere more sensitive!

Today I had a trip to Heathrow to attempt a nice Christmassy trip to Vienna....No luck. Oh well, It was our last ditch holiday before the baby so now looking at spending the next few days at home instead. I think we got off lightly. There were some very dejected looking people at the airport!

Anyway keep warm everyone xx

Medee · 20/12/2010 18:47

I had a choice of bum or thigh, and she recommended thigh - it was a bit stingy, but not noticeable now.

That's a shame about your trip, BB. We nearly didn't get our final-fling holiday at the end of November when the snows first hit up here, but thankfully got there and back, albeit a bit delayed.

1Catherine1 · 20/12/2010 20:11

Shame you couldn't go to Vienna Blue. Nice to hear baby is growing well Medee, from what I've read this week baby size is only ballpark figure anyway :) Thigh or bum, I still don't like the sound of either.

You know you ladies have got me thinking...

I haven't had a real holiday for such a long time. I think the last one was New Year 2009 when we went to Barcelona for a weekend (which is not really a holiday since OH is from there). I really need to have a holiday pre-baby. Since it's back to school straight after New Year my next opportunity is Feb half term when I'll be 36 weeks pregnant. Is this too far along to go arranging holidays?

bluebeach · 20/12/2010 21:11

Hmm, not having been pregnant before I can't say how you'd feel at 36 weeks, but I'm not sure you would be allowed to fly on some airlines that cut off at 36 weeks.

I know what you mean about wanting a nice break before everything changes!! Maybe a nice spa break in the UK with some pregnancy treatments?

Glad you got your trip Medee!

Medee · 20/12/2010 21:24

Pretty certain you couldn't fly, and you might not want to be too far away from a main hospital, but a UK city break would be a great idea, or a country hotel maybe half-an-hour from a city?

Jupiter118 · 20/12/2010 21:48

Hello all hope all getting in the swing for Christmas? Not loving the snow tbh - too worried about falling over.

Bump seems massive all of a sudden - and if one more person asks me when I'm due, I say March and they raise eyebrows as if to say f* you ar massive I may lamp them - Christmas or not.

Larty in awe of your organisation - thoroughly disorganised here - DS still in cotbed (as bed) and not other prep done. Am 27 weeks so still time (very much hope so anyway).

Someone mentioned a Loola. We have a Loola (was bebeconfort at the time). Is good - got it as folds small/short. Carry cot bit was great, can face you or away and can also have with car seat clicked in. Did like it when DS was small, but found it heavy to push once he was bigger and shopping basket difficult to access if over full. Gave in at 14 months and bought a Zapp which was great. Now would like new Zapp that is suitable from birth, but not sure can justify it cost wise or how to persuade DH.

Catherine - fear that at 36 weeks you may not be able to fly. Nice hotel not too far from home or near to good hospital might be nice though.

Jxx

ckny1 · 21/12/2010 09:04

I'm also in awe of your nursery being done, as we plan to move from our studio to a one bedroom in February when I'll be as big as an elephant! At least we bought our travel system (buggy/cot/car seat) since DH was concerned about the VAT increase making a price difference in January Hmm. If only we had space for it! :)

Sadly, it seems our trip to Germany may be cancelled, and we have NO family here in the UK, so am a bit bummed. His mum & dad have been planning the uber-healthy and yummy meal (and buying juices for me) since September! Plus, for once I wrapped the gifts on time! :) Will feel very stranded on this icy island if we can't get anywhere for this last trip until the little chubbers arrives.

Speaking of, he is really making the moves these days, so much so that I think of him as Jacky Chan or Jason Bourne (that and the fact that he will have so many passports!) It makes me laugh each time I feel something...the most reassuring thought in the world, sigh! :)

JoJoB77 · 21/12/2010 09:05

Morning ladies

Hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas Xmas Smile

I'm currently off work due to the snow and icy conditions. Probably wouldn't matter if I worked around the corner but I'm 2 hours away (on a good day) and it just feels too dangerous to even attempt the journey.

I'm feeling baby moving and wriggling around lots more now and am 26 weeks tomorrow. Not really suffering with too much aches/pains yet thankfully.

It's my birthday on Friday so am looking forward to lots of food and also going to parents Christmas day so looking forward to being looked after then! I will miss the wine and Baileys but hey ho, there's always next year!

Have a lovely warm day! x

Larty74 · 21/12/2010 09:10

It's a huge weight off the shoulders getting that room done, but I blame the organisation on DH who also works from home and the fact that either one or both of us are away for most of Jan. so we got it done in little bits and pieces.

LOL Jupiter I know what you mean about the March comments and thank for the info on the Loola - good to know. So aside from the Zapp, if you were me as a first timer would you go for the loola or maclaren xlr, looking ahead?

I'm pretty sure 36 weeks is the absolute limit to fly - the airlines set thier own limits and I think i'll be flying at 32. am taking a letter from Dr just in case they give me grief. The upside is if you do give birth in flight you and your family fly for free on that airline for life! Shock

JeelyPiece · 21/12/2010 10:00

Am off work and on sofa due to horrible cold but am being fascinated/cheered by bump visibly moving around constantly for the last half hour, this is just the weirdest thing ever Smile

me23 · 21/12/2010 13:20

wow a lot of you have very active bumps, my lo has never been very active, just has a few periods of movements per day eg-will get a few movements in morning then quiet for a few hours then a few more etc...
no massive belly changing shapes yet tho, could be due to anterior placenta blocking the way!

We have bought a lot of baby stuff now including the main purchases-bugaboo (2nd hand that I bought at around 12 weeks lol) cot, moses basket, car seat. Basics of clothes. Just need to get things like bouncer, sheets for cot, sleeping bag and breastfeeding cushion.

All set for xmas too, just need to wrap the rest of dd's presents.
