Hi Ladies
Haven't been around much as have been looking after my mother who came up for a week to 'help' was a little bit helpful a couple of times but mainly sat on the sofa!
BUT we got to chat about when she is going to visit after the baby is born and I managed to say that she was welcome to visit whenever she liked but would need to stay at my aunts round the corner rather than with us. So thats that sorted! Also provisionally arranged that dd and ds would go and stay with her for a week as they have 3 weeks off over easter Shock due to the royal wedding and they will be going stir crazy if I have a c section and are stuck in the house.
STILL haven't been allocated an obs or cardio consultant. Have started to get a bit short of breath but think it is normal pregnancy stuff rather than my heart starting to struggle.Have decided to arrange to see my MW at 28 weeks (thats when she is next 'available' to see me if I haven't seen anyone else) Think someone should be keeping a vague eye on me!
For those of us not quite at the 28 weeks feeling safer stage, one of the social workers I have shared cases with has a beautiful little girl doing very well in scbu born a month ago at 23 +4 weeks!
keep warm

TooImmature2BMum · 06/12/2010 18:58

New weird skill: last night I discovered I could get little tiny beads of liquid to appear on my nipples! I read a thread on here somewhere about milking your boobs by gently squeezing the whole boob in the direction of the nipple, not just the nipple, so I tried it and hey presto! Strange, huh? It was only a tiny amount, but I was incredibly proud of myself.

Jammiedodger, that's reassuring about the premature baby! Not that I want the baby to be premature but it's nice to know she has a good chance if she is. Good luck with the consultants - hope all goes well!

Jupiter118 · 06/12/2010 22:39

Hello all,

Have been slack on the posting front... lots happening though - can't believe people are in 3rd trimester. I have another few weeks to go 25 weeks today.

Spilt - lovely to hear from you - glad you had some answers. Hope the wait to TTC isn't too slow in passing. x

Seeing MW this week so hope to get grant form. GTT testing next week - Dad diabetic so at risk - didn't get it last time - test goes on for hours soooooo boring.

Boobs - mine feel like they might explode - maybe tis the cold or maybe they might start leaking - can also produce drops if I squeeze. Left boob particularly sore earlier - discovered this was due to stray bit of baguette crust having found way inside bra - very scratchy indeed. Must eat more carefully.

Am fed up of the cold and 'mincing' everywhere in case I slip. Bored of it tbh -just freezing no snow (light dusting but no more).

Enough winging - time for bed.

x

Boo81 · 07/12/2010 08:00

Hello, I've not posted on this thread before but I'm due 5th March with my first.

I posted a message here about a London girls meet-up

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1099162-London-Meet-Up

A few of us posted on another thread how we are the first of our friends to start having babies and were feeling a bit lonely and isolated not knowing anyone else in the same position. So I'm hoping to organise a meet up in London for anyone thats interested.

If you would like to join our little group send me a private message with your email address and hopefully we can get something organised before xmas.

Thanks!

TooImmature2BMum · 07/12/2010 10:00

Grin pmsl at Jupiter!

Boo, I would have liked to come meet people in person, but unfortunately I'm in Midlothian, so it's just a touch too far. I am another one who is the first of my friends to be pregnant and it is a bit weird - although my friends are being very good and don't make me feel left out.

Jupiter118 · 07/12/2010 13:38

Too immature - glad to provide entertainment! Have decided it must mainly be the cold as they are still really sore. sure I saw someone else put up similar post.

Back to work...

KPidgeon · 07/12/2010 14:56

Jupiter that really made me laugh too- thank you!

I'm escaping the sore boobs so far. Got really painful knees at night time though. Anyone else suffering that particular annoyance? We're busy packing up half of our flat and think it's probably just me crouching down too much. (with extra baby weight putting pressure on poor old knees!)

My baby boy moves all night long at the moment. It's still light enough not to wake me but I guess when he gets bigger it's going to mean some sleepless nights soon!

Hope you're all well.

superpenguin · 07/12/2010 15:34

Hello all,
good news: I got my Health in Pregnancy Grant today - just noticed it had appeared in my bank account! :) Sent the form off only about 2 weeks ago so quite impressed. A very welcome £190!

The bad news is though I have started getting backache - quite painful, not all the time but comes and goes. :(
Anyone else suffering with their backs?

Clucky31 · 07/12/2010 16:17

Superpenguin - sorry to hear about your backache. I have also been suffering with my back :( For me it started in fairly early pregnancy and I was told that it was most likely my ligaments starting to give way a little early. I was referred to physio and they gave me some exercises which have been a help (nothing outrageous and mainly of the type that you see in pregnancy books).
What kind of job do you do? I'm sitting at a desk all day and find that if I sit still for too long it makes things worse - as does leaning forward and peering at a computer screen. If you do a desk job it's worth getting your workstation assessed as they might be able to provide you with a different chair/other equipment which might help things.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 07/12/2010 17:27

Everywhere seems to hurt actually and have the flu and a temp today so all the more. Plus have vomitted ALL day long and kept nothing down at all and felt so faint.

Tried googling to see if I could take Lemsip or Beechams but netdoctor seemed to suggest that whilst paracetemol is fine there is an ingredient that they have no research for.

My back hurts if I sit down for more than about 3 minutes - I kid you not. I have to actually wake up in the night to turn over. This last trimester is going to be challenging I think .

Sorry for the long moan rant... will be back with happier thoughts tomorrow.

Purplefan · 07/12/2010 17:46

Hi all,

Sorry to hear some of us are suffering! I have a cold/cough that U can't shift (but so does the rest of the population!)

Had MatB1 form through the post today, so obviously my Midwife got my message, however I have had no other contact from her and no clue when I might see her to get my Health in Pregnancy grant form!!

Take care all

rfata · 07/12/2010 21:54

Thanks for the welcome everyone!!
I am 28 weeks today. I still have nausea, vomiting, blood noses and now the most hideous reflux/heartburn that occurs during the day as well as the evening. Just picturing my two girls is getting me through the trials and tribulations of pregnancy.
We were also snowed in here and I did not leave the house for 6 days- slight cabin fever by the end of it!

Hi muser, can u add me to the list please? 1st pregnancy, expecting a boy on 18th March!

Mixedmama - I had really bad cold/flu last month, I found that drinkng hot water and lemon helped, and the paracetamol worked wonders compared to what I was expecting, think it's coz I've hardly taken any since being pregnant whereas before I would regularly dose up for any kind of ache and pain! Bit like my previous coffee addiction which was about 12 cups a day and I thought caffeine had no effect on me, now if I have 1 cup that's not decaf I can feel myself gettin a bit twitchy - dread to think how I'll react to a glass of wine once I'm drinking again! Xxx

superpenguin · 08/12/2010 10:46

clucky I also work sitting at a desk all day staring at a computer screen most of the time, occasionally interspersed with meetings!
I've spoken to our occupational health department and someone is coming to reassess my workstation next week so hope that might help.
Meanwhile, am making frequent trips to the toilets / canteen / water cooler / print room etc to make sure I get up a lot!

purple don't you just call your surgery/clinic and make an appointment when you need to see your midwife???

Sorry to hear others are also suffering in various ways. The things we put up with!

mendipgirl · 08/12/2010 13:18

Hi All, Hsven't been on for ages, sorry, I ahve been reading just not much to say and have had a lengthy cold and a poorly toddler so just feeling sorry for myself.

But had a good meeting with my consultant today and she has pencilled me in for a ELCS and we will agree a date at 36 weeks. So relieved, thought I would have to fight for it but she was sooo nice, and basically said it was my decision.

Saw the LO again as well. Looked fine, very bouncy and active.

Hope everyone is okay.

Lozario · 08/12/2010 13:25

Hey all. Sounds like we are all starting to suffer. I'm not too bad with my back but just EXHAUSTED.... why did I think having 2 under 2 was a good idea! Plus Christmas is already wearing me out, all my child-free mates are going out all the time and I just feel sorry for myself and too knackered to put make-up on and make any social effort. Bah humbug. Xmas Sad

Where the hell did the 2nd trimester go??? Shock

1Catherine1 · 08/12/2010 14:01

Hey Ladies,

Sorry to see so many of you all feeling worn out already.

My backache is getting really bad at times so much so that I find myself limping around the school looking rather odd. I have also taken to even taking a student with me when I need to fetch paper or anything that might require a tad of strength, luckily the children are always willing to oblige, especially when it gets them out of maths for 5 minutes.

25+3 today, collected my MatB form and my health in pregnancy application form yesterday from the GP surgery. I even filled the form in there and then and posted it on my way home - I hope mine only takes 2 weeks too.

Today was also the first day I looked at my pre pregnancy t-shirts and decided that I couldn't fit into them anymore and choose the maternity top I bought a few months ago instead - I'm not keen on it though as it looks too, erm.. old and cheery for me.

umiaisha · 08/12/2010 14:17

Hi everyone,

Can I join this thread too please?!! Baby is due 4/3, my birthday is 5/3 and DD's is 14/3 so March is set to be a very expensive month for OH!

I live in West London and will be having the baby at Queen Charlottes - anyone else planning to give birth there?

jeffily · 08/12/2010 14:53

Hi umiaisha- you are due the day after me! March is an expensive one for us too, DD is 28th and this one is due 3rd!

mendipgirl your last couple of weeks sound very similar to mine- I've been checking in but just too tired to post and nothing interesting to say. DD has had an eye infection, ear infection and nose infection (I had no idea that such a thing was possible!Confused and been the grumpiest child in the world. I've been beating myself up about the amount of TV she's been watching and the fact that she refuses pointblank to sit at the table and eat dinner nicely. But I think she (and I) are now finally on the mend so am feeling more cheery!

Anyone else getting breathlessness now? I had a dreadful day of it yesterday, felt like I couldn't get my breath properly all day. It was rather disconcerting. Feeling better today, I guess LO has moved slightly and is now letting mummy breathe!

Well, in a fit of enthusiasm I suggested to DH that we have a Christmas party- which is now this weekend and I have a huge list of canapes to make, so should get on with them really.

Hope everyone is starting to feel Christmassy!

EvaLongoria · 08/12/2010 18:17

Hi All

Was going to catch up and then post but was out of action for various reasons the last week or so. First ended up flat on my on 3 different occasions after slipping on the ice outside. We had snow only once but for the rest of the time all the roads has just been icey. I have been wearing my wellies but think that is more slippery then my normal flat boots. Just been really scared to venture outside really but I do not have much choice.

Also we were then left in the cold for 3 days after boiler went down and we could not find an available engineer and we ended up having to sleep at my inlaws because it was just too cold in the evening for 3 year old DD.

Hope everyone else are doing okay and congrats on everyone reaching the Third Trimester.

sam26oscar · 08/12/2010 22:09

Hi all,
Just checking in, not much going on here. Saw my M/W for 28 week check and everything seems all fine Grin measured my f/h at exactly 28 weeks and at that particular time baby was head down where as i thought s/he had been lying transverse!! Jeffily i have been breathless for a little while now too, just after i have been bending down mainly to do shoes up!! Baby moving pretty much constantly now!! Its quite funny walking round town with your belly squirming all over the place!! Its even obvious to other people now if you sit next to me Grin Am sort of allowing myself to relax more now as i am 28 weeks tomorrow and that seems to be a landmark to me as i know the baby has a very good chance if born now...which hopefully it won't!!!

KPidgeon · 09/12/2010 12:59

sam26oscar squirming is exactly the right word for it.
I sleep on my side but kind of roll onto my belly a bit and am a little concerned aabout it being squashed. But it's still squirming about the next day so I don't think I'm doing any harm.
Turning over in the night is such hard work though isn't it!
Dear me- reading all of our aches and pains back is quite funny. I've got a heavy cold now too. Still think we're better off being pregnany at this time of year than giving birth in the depths of cold winter.

Take care all
K

KPidgeon · 09/12/2010 13:03

D'oh. Pregnant not pregnany! Snotty brain.

GeekLove · 09/12/2010 15:00

Hello,

New to Mumsnet and am due on the 8th! Mine is a surprise bump since this time I did not see a little willy flash across the screen at 20wks.
Currently have a 25mnth DS and am thinking that bears have the right idea. Eat lots of food, go to bed in November, have babies in March then wake up in April!

Hows everybody else coping with the cold? I just want to sleep all the time!
