TooImmature2BMum · 03/12/2010 19:11

Hello new peeps! I'm so jealous of the twins! I'm a twin and my dad's a twin, so I wanted to have the third generation, but no. Maybe next time.

Drumroll please: I am now officially into the third trimester! It seems like I have done nothing for the last week apart from think "nearly there, nearly there". If I'm this bad now about milestones, what will I be like when it's the 3rd of March approaching?

Me, good news about the UTI!

Whoever was asking about names, I haven't got very far at all. I have a list with lots of names scored off by DH, but none of the ones that are left really jump out at me as The One. Does anyone already have their name all picked out?

Medee · 03/12/2010 19:17

no, I have only got halfway through the alphabet of girls' names. I do have some jotted down, and then MrM is to do the same, and then we see what we have in common and what to veto. And then repeat with boys' names.

Larty74 · 03/12/2010 19:46

never a bad thing when it come to PJs!

Been meaning to join this chat for ages! Hope no-one minds I just added myself to list.
Hope the snow goes away soon - we had 2ft of snow in our garden on my due date this year iyswim.

sam26oscar · 03/12/2010 22:07

Hi ladies,

i wrote an epic post but then battery died so lost it grrr..

tooimature we can be third trimester buddies til everyone catches up Grin
I have finally posted my healthy grant hopefully it will be here before christmas!!

I have relented and bought some nappies!! I had some money off coupons so bought 3 packs!! thats my only contribution to the impending arrival i'm afraid!!
I was on another thread where people were asking about superstions about having the pram in the house, i won't due to past experiences, but i also won't have anything like clothes and moses basket until after 28 week, purely because i feel that once i reach that point the baby has a very high survival rate. So, 6 days to go then i can spend spend spend Grin

Has anyone who doesn't know the sex had a vivid dream about the sex of their baby???

I had one the other night, and i had a baby girl 7lb 9oz to be precise, and when i held it she had a pink vest on Hmm
Does this mean it may be a girl or the complete opposite Confused !!

Hope you are all having fun in the snow, we have none at all and i am feeling very hard done by Sad

Have a good weekend guys xx

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 03/12/2010 22:20

Superpenguin my apologies, I had no idea you were having twins - how very exciting - very belated congratulations!

Third trimester people when are you starting from? When I googled it three dates came up - if Sam is today I guess I'll want to join tomorrow!

My dreams are still v vivid, so far it's always been a girl but my gut is beginning to say boy...

The other night I dreamt I had to deliver my friend who's due beginning of Feb - scary!

Hope everyone is snug - really hoping snow clears up soon.

Xx

me23 · 04/12/2010 13:00

The 3rd trimester is from 28 weeks, no one on here is 28 weeks yet are they? These are the weeks mws and medics use.
So I'll be in trimester at the end of december 28 weeks on 29th dec.

Muser · 04/12/2010 13:52

My NHS pregnancy tracker and WTEWYE said I was in third trimester last week at 27 weeks. I'm 27+6 at the moment.

OP posts:
JoJoB77 · 04/12/2010 15:31

Hi ladies

Hope you are all well. I don't seem to get a chance to have a proper catch up on here and these weeks are flying by very quickly!

I'm 23+4 today and feeling well, apart from heartburn, I've had to get some gaviscon today as it's starting to do my head in.

Went to my works Christmas doo last night, was very interesting seeing everyone in their drunken states - it's usually me to be honest! Was good fun but not quite the same, plus I was up until 1am, I'm usually in bed by 9 so feeling quite tired today.

I have midwife appt next week, she is coming to the house - does anyone else mw's do house visits?

We have a bit of snow but nothing like we usually do here in south shropshire = we have come off lightly compared to the rest of the uk - probably tempted fate saying that Grin

I'm just about to start the log fire and not move from the sofa until I have to go to bed - me lazy? Never!

Have a lovely weekend all x

JeelyPiece · 04/12/2010 16:06

Had another baby dream last night, unusually everything went well but I was feeding him/her by holding my boob and squirting the milk into the baby's mouth... Ok i'm a first time mother but I don't think that's how you do it.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 04/12/2010 16:46

JoJo hope gaviscon has sorted your heartburn - it's miserable. I know we're all different but I had it weeks 22-25 and it mysteriously went - hope yours does too.

As I'm 27 weeks today (and also use WTEWYE) can I please join the OMG It's Our Last Trimester gang?!?

I don't think time has ever gone this quickly - am still so unprepared (both practically and mentally Blush ) but it's wonderful to know our babys' survival chances are getting ever higher.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends.
Xx

Ps DH phoned earlier and as usual had a brief chat with my belly!!! Anyway I got a stonking kick which moved the phone - am sure it was coincidence but it would be nice to think LO's starting to recognise his voice!

Larty74 · 04/12/2010 16:51

LOL at JeelyPiece I've had lots of feeding dreams as well, but not quite that funny!

TooImmature2BMum · 04/12/2010 18:28

I was counting by only 3 calendar months left to go, as am due on 3 March. I'm 27+2 now. I suppose that 28 weeks would mean there were only 12 left to go, but some months are longer than 4 weeks. 28 weeks will be definitely definitely 3rd trimester, but the What To Expect book says month 7 is weeks 27-31/32 (can't remember what was the end of it, but positive it says it starts in week 27. Book is under the bed and I'm on the sofa in the living room and can't be bothered getting up to check).

JoJo, your MW does home visits? Shock I shall ask at my next appt! I know perfectly well she drives right past here to get to the surgery, so I don't see why she would object. I thought they only started doing home visits after the birth.

Oh, have just worked out that WTEWYE is the What To Expect book! Doh! Blush

I have just given in and bought myself some maternity tights from Mothercare. £7 apiece, grr! I also bought some on Ebay (£7 for 2 pairs inc p&p), but we haven't seen the postie for a week due to 2 feet of snow, so they haven't arrived yet. All my old non-maternity tights were sliding down my bump and winding up underneath it, which felt very precarious and uncomfortable.

angelbabe, I hope it isn't snowing in March too! I felt dreadful yesterday - I was working my way through a bunch of complaints about insufficient gritting (I work for a roads dept) and came across an irate email from a new dad, saying we had completely failed to respond to his request for urgent snow-clearing to allow the ambulance to come in to get his labouring wife. She had had to walk 200m in a foot of snow while in labour to reach the ambulance. I still haven't found his original request, but he suggested that we had gone and cleared the wrong street - the one opposite him - and I think he might well be right. His poor wife was now back at home with the new baby and his street had still not been cleared...[work-related Blush ] Luckily he hadn't gone to the papers - or at least not yet.

me23 · 04/12/2010 18:54

I've just done some googling and it appears there's lots of diiferent opinions on when 3rd trimester starts, some say 27 some 28 even 1 said 26!

I'm Envy I want to be in 3rd trimester am 24+3 today.

only 3 weeks till xmas dd helped me put the tree up yesterday Xmas Smile

dp is off out running his club night tonight he was djing yesterday too called up at the last minute, still the money he got will pay for baby's carseat and at least there is xfactor and casualty tonight.

sam26oscar · 04/12/2010 21:49

Too Immature Don't be too Blush at only just knowing what WTEWYE meant as i didn't know either, but then i don't have that book so perhaps i could be forgiven!! I don't know how you can wear maternity tights... as that would mean you have to wear a skirt too and that means 2 lots of elastic round your belly..eurgh!!!! I personally can't abide wearing anything under or over my bump, so i invested a pair of dungarees Grin. Obviously sometimes i have to wash them LOL, and then i grudgingly wear jeans or leggings hoicked up high over bump, but am very uncomfortable. I don't work in an office enviorment so am not restricted as to what i have to wear. Power to my dungarees though they will be sadly missed once i have had baby Sad!!!
Me23 you forgot Strctly in your line up Grin.
Am looking forward to nice long lie in tomorrow, in my lovely big bed with soft flannelette covers and no DH or DS as they are away in London having been to see Chelsea play today Grin

Hope you all have lovely weekend xx

Purplefan · 05/12/2010 09:15

Hi everyone,

Not been on here for a short while, but so much been going on!!
Lol at toilet roll tests Xmas Grin don't think I'll go there...!!!

Good to hear from you spilt, glad to hear that you finally have some answers and that they are looking after you.

I don't have any news really.... but am pretty pissed off with my Midwife... I haven't seen her since 30th Sept when I was approx 16 weeks (actually that was the 1st and only time I have met her) I am now 25+2 and have tried to contact her as I need my MatB1 form for work and also would like my pregnancy grant!! Why do I need to chase her? She should be contacting me.... (especially as there are so many people involved in this pregnancy.. surely she should be the constant???) Xmas Angry

Sorry didn't mean to rant, but as you can imagine I am bit annoyed!!

Hope all is well and Christmas preparations are going to plan!! Speak soon x

Medee · 05/12/2010 11:38

Hi Purple - my MW always makes my next appointment while I am there, or tells me when to call to make it. So I saw her at 16weeks, had my scan at the hospital at 20w then saw the MW again at 24w, when she made my 28w appointment. Got my Mat B1 at the 24w and will get the HiP at the 28w one. That's NHS Scotland though, so might be different elsewhere.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 05/12/2010 12:05

Purplefan I would guess you'll have to chase her - I don't know much about it so can't tell you for sure (haven't seen same midwife twice) but they seem to just give you forms when you see them - others on this thread have suggested getting them from GP and from (hopeless pregnancy!) memory the forms ask for signature of mw or doctor. Equally she might be so busy she's glad to offloaded you to the specialists.... Hope the rest of your care is going well.

Just had to share that today I'm wearing a new non-maternity Zara ankle length jumper dress - it is the cosiest and comfiest thing ever! Bliss Xmas Smile

TooImmature2BMum · 05/12/2010 12:59

Purplefan, I tried to chase MW a couple of weeks ago for my Health in Pregnancy grant form and she never even called back. I forgot to chase her again, mind you. I've only seen that MW once - 3rd appt, 3 different MWs, although the last one said she was the one I would be seeing from now on. I haven't had my MatB1 form yet either, and don't see her again until 14 Dec. I'm in Scotland too, Medee, so perhaps it's just that individual MWs are more organised?

Sam, I'm not wearing skirts, I'm wearing loose dresses mostly, which are the comfiest thing I've found so far. I have one pair of maternity jeans but they aren't very comfy as they come halfway up my bump - I would rather they came all the way up so I didn't get a weird line across the middle of my tummy. They also slide down a lot, which is irritating. Dungarees do sound comfy - at least they'd stay put!

chickiewoo · 05/12/2010 21:59

Hi all - just catching up with all the latest news.

Spilt - good to know that you are keeping in touch with us and that you've now got some answers - be strong for the future - with love and best wishes, thinking of you x

I've had a rough weekend - feeling sick again - exhaustingly tired and am now struggling with getting a few hours decent sleep each night - have been waking with terrible heartburn and crippling cramp in both legs - hey ho - here's hoping this week is better!

As for names - not set in stone as yet - but we both like Henry for a boy. Can't agree on a girl's name as yet - though we like Scarlett - but my sister's 18 month old is Charlotte - do you think we should avoid as they are too similar and choose something else???

For the record, my midwife is really accessible as is my local birth centre - though strictly speaking the official number of appointments you are due isn't that many, they are more than happy for you to drop in if you have any worries or concerns. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and got my MATB1 form from my midwife at 21 weeks and am seeing her at 25 weeks for a check up and to get my health in pregnancy grant form.

Hope the weather improves for those of you who are snowed in - we've not had any yet, but it's been very icy and cold. Have a good week all x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/12/2010 09:51

Morning all.

I am 27 weeks today - so accordingly I am joining the final trimester. I ams ticking with the 27 week mark as it makes me feel closer to meeting LO.

We had my family round on Saturday so a massive name convo ensued - nothing at all decided in any way but definitely more for the shortlist.

I picked my hospital based on the fact that they did ante natal appointments at home, only to be told once i had booked that they didnt anymore grrrr.

Larty74 · 06/12/2010 13:29

mixedmama I'm joining you today for the final trimester stretch (no pun intended)!

Got slightly worried over the weekend as LO seemed to go rather quiet and as I was painting the nursery was wondering if it was all in vain, nonetheless, started to get some stretching pains under bump yesterday afternoon, and when i sat down for the evening, he was back with a vengance! I vaguely remember reading somewhere - may have been here that they can go a bit quiet when going thru a "growth spurt" and what with stretching pains, seems to add up. Anyone else hear/read the same?

superpenguin · 06/12/2010 14:34

Just got a shock reading the thread just now - for the record, I am NOT having twins! Really, I definitely only have one in there! Twas not I but someone else expecting double...

superpenguin · 06/12/2010 14:45

I also thought the 3rd trimester was from 28 weeks. I'm 27+3 today.
On the other hand, I assume the word 'trimester' means something like '3 months' (???) and if so it would be at the 6 month mark, which would not equate to any exact number of weeks as it would depend what month you are due as some months are longer than others. Confused
Anyway as I am due 4th March and it's now 6th Dec I have less than 3 months to go (!!!) Shock so I guess that makes me in the 3rd trimester.
This is slightly worrying as don't feel at all ready, either practically-speaking, or mentally. Hmm

me23 · 06/12/2010 15:04

sorry superpenguin my fault for making you have twins lol, it is penguindreams who is having twins!
