niamh29 · 20/11/2010 22:37

Thanks for the advice 1catherine1, just after I posted I felt baby wriggling for over an hour so feel very reassured!

I have been having cravings for ice cold fizzy drinks but I hardly ever drank fizzy drinks before I was pregnant and never had this craving with other pregnancies........weird!

Medee · 21/11/2010 10:37

COnstant munchies sounds normal, Catherine.

RockChick1984 · 21/11/2010 12:43

Hi everyone, this is my first pregnancy, my little boy is due on 18th March. I'm so excited, but starting to get terribly nervous about it all now, I think between seeing him at my 20 week scan, and the size of the kicks he's now giving me, it's all suddenly become very real - sooner or later I'm not gunna be pregnant any more, and me and hubby will have to look after a real live baby! Does anyone else feel like this, sort of like the nervous excitement feeling you get before goin on a roller coaster but 100 times stronger? Xx

Larty74 · 21/11/2010 16:06

Welcome RockChick and congrats to you! I think you summed up everyone here, esp 1st timers.

AAAAHHH! Nothing like a good clear out around the house. must be the nesting thing. Anyone else doing the same? Going to start decorating the nursery next weekend!

JoJoB77 · 21/11/2010 16:18

Afternoon ladies and welcome to all the new mummies to be!

This is my first pregnancy too RockChick and I go through stages of feeling very excited to feeling very very nervous of how life will change! I'm sure that is all normal though.

Larty DH and I have been having a clear out today - it feels so good to get rid of loads of stuff. We seem to accumulate so much crap, I don't realise how big our rooms are until we have had a good clear out!

I'm feeling well and feeling baby wriggle and nudge quite a lot now. Some of the nudges really take me by surprise! I'm loving it though Smile

Medee · 21/11/2010 16:23

we're decluttering too - mainly as we won't have a separate nursery, so need to make more room for all the stuff.

Oceanbreeze · 21/11/2010 17:29

Welcome RockChick Also my first, and also due on the 18th Smile That all sounds very familiar. Also, thinking about events of next year, and suddenly realising, Oh my god, by next birthday etc, I'll be a MumShock

Another declutterer here - been having a sort out today - equal parts, tedious & exciting.

BabyOcean has turned into a right wrigglebum, after weeks and weeks of nothing. Of course, he stops as soon as OH comes near me, poor thing. Haven't seen anything visible from outside yet though.

catherine also have munchies - can't claim I didn't get them before though Wink

KPidgeon · 21/11/2010 19:26

Rockchick totally the same feeling- overwhelmed but happy but yes, overwhelmed by the reality. Especially now we know it's a boy. Spoke to my brother when he was on the bus to work and he was still buzzing and singing out about having a nephew soon!

We've also spent the whole day de-cluttering. How funny. Just stopped now in time to eat and for strictly.

Hubbie has a new job and we are hoping to move very soon after the baby is born (like as soon as it pops out) madness but want to have the baby here and then get out of this flat because it's a really noisy area.

Does anyone else happen to live in East Grinstead (hope, hope)? - that is where we will be moving and I'm not going to know anyone!

Nowpanic that's amazing that you can see it so visibly from the outside. I can see little tiny jumps in the skin but nothing v.dramatic. Feeling it move all the time now though- almost tickles.

Thank you to me23 on the previous page for explaining what a back to back pregnancy is. I will try very hard to not cross my legs.

Is anyone on here hoping to work right up until the end of their pregnancy? I don't know whether to stop at 37 weeks or give myself another week and stop and 36 weeks..hmm.. just counting down the weeks already!

Hope you all had a nice weekend and are keeping warm. I'm very glad to be pregnant and to be able to hibernate and wear layers. Being heavily pregnant in hot weather must be hard work.

K

Sharu · 21/11/2010 21:06

Sharu due 16/03. My first! Can youbpls add me?

Sharu · 21/11/2010 21:13

All - I amso glad I found this thread. It's amazing we can share and relate to one another. I am having a little girl and is she kicking! I went to watch ha ray potter and the music totally excited her! She was kicking all around.

The only downside is my acid reflux. Eating habits are very painful...

And the anxiety is starting to build up. When I wake up in the wee hours food or to go to the loo, I can't go back to sleep. Start to wonder about how I am going to manage.

EvaLongoria · 21/11/2010 21:37

Hi March Mummies.

Havent been on here for a while. Trying to get lots of assignments done and looking after house, hubby and a very active 3 year old DD.

I am going to try and catch up on a few posts and will post again later.

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to everyone on their scans.

Rockchick and Oceanbreeze I am also due the 18th March. Really very excited. Baby is kicking loads and I love lying with my tummy open watching it. Also with my first I started feeling the kicks at 20 weeks but it took hubby a further 3 weeks before he could feel any as she would stop whenever he was around. This time I felt it way earlier at 16 weeks already and is quite an active baby.

Will post later after a catch up

sittinghippo · 22/11/2010 10:38

Hi all, welcome to the newbies.

24+5 now, and like most of you, getting plenty of movement. I also love to sit on the sofa with my top pulled up to see if I can spot movement from the outside. I can but its more like little ripples than a big bulge or anything. (This may well be down to my layer of insulation though)

KPidgeon I am planning to work up until 1 week before my due date. I am only part time and unless your job is physically demanding there is not much reason not to. With my first I took 4 weeks before as I was a Health Care worker, so it was getting too difficult to get down on my knees to tie peoples laces etc, but 4 weeks (which could quite possibly become 6 weeks if you go overdue) at home gets very boring!!
I think your 3 week idea is about right if you are full time.

Other news: Have finished decorating our spare bedroom ready for DD (3 and 1/2) to move into next week, so we can clear out the little bedroom and get it ready for the new arrival. My lovely spare room is now a very PINK and GIRLY room! Guests will now have to sleep on the sofa...

coco29 · 22/11/2010 11:47

morning ladies, hi all :)
am 23+4 and getting lots of movement too, felt it from quite early on and this is my first, think hes positioned very much to the front with his legs under my right ribs and hands way down south to the left. He's getting stronger and stronger everyday! Having trouble getting comfy last few nights. Am dying with back ache to my whole left side..hubby located a big knot which seems to be the cause and tried working it out but its huge!! Anyone know a good preggo massage therapist in London?!? i will love you forever!! :o
Other than that everything is going grand, re weight, think I've put on just over a stone and most of it was it the first tri as I put a halt on nearly all the exercise. Now I'm trying to keep an eye on what i eat (sooo hard!!) and fast walking most days. Has anyone heard or done that toilet roll test where you measure your bump with sheets of loo roll?
How is everyone fixed for xmas? So much social things coming up, I dont think I can keep up at all. We're moving early december and I need to take a trip to see my mam and sister as they are dying to see me(bump..)Also we're starting to look at what we want to buy for baby in the Jan. sales..NEVER realised there was soo much to think of!! I have no preggo or mum friends so I'm glad to be here and learning so much form you guys!! Am due the 17th and work full time so thinking I will finish on the 4th, use up some annual leave and then hopefully begin mat leave when he arrives(hah baby are you listening!!?) Hope all appointments and scans are going well!! Thanks Wink xx

Muser · 22/11/2010 12:09

KPidgeon I am stopping at 38 weeks, just handed in my form to HR. My last day will be 11 Feb. But I'm going to use my annual leave to cut down to 4 days a week before that. And I may work from home for a day a week as well, depending on workload. It's very difficult to know when to stop, but I'm fairly convinced I'll be overdue so if the baby is 2 weeks late, I'll have had a full 4 weeks off. And if it's not, well, I'll have longer with the baby!

OP posts:
Medee · 22/11/2010 12:19

I'm stopping at 38 weeks too, end of February seems a neat place to stop.

coraltoes · 22/11/2010 13:07

Coco29 where in London? Glow Spa do great maternity massage, Angel Rooms has a maternity masseuse too, you can get people who come to your home (i think the firm is return to glory)...have a hunt!

coco29 · 22/11/2010 13:31

thanks! Will have a look. Am in the city, Liverpool St/Barbican areas.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 22/11/2010 14:07

Coco - whatever you do don't go to the Sanctuary - its website claims to have loads of preg massages and treatments but when I went for a hen day at 18 weeks they had no idea what to do, made me lie in my front for massage and flat on my back for facial - despite repeated asking they couldn't provide more than a towel for me to try to make myself more comfortable. Also it is painfully expensive!

sittinghippo · 22/11/2010 15:32

coco lmao I just googled 'toilet roll test' as I'd never come across that one before....

I'm thinking that you dont mean that one...

KPidgeon · 22/11/2010 15:43

Thank you Medee, Sittinghippo & Muser- good advice. It's the commute that knackers me out more than the working to be honest but sittinghippo you're right- anymore than 4 weeks at home alone (which could potentially be 6 weeks!) and I will be veeery bored! I'm not great with my own company for too long as it is!

coco29- Aveda salons are lovely. My friend had a pregnancy massage at the one in Balham (I think it's called mind, body & spirit salon) and loved it. Not sure of the cost but worth a look:
www.independentmindbodysoul.co.uk/menu.htm

I don't know if Aveda have other salons in central/north london though.

They definitely know what they are doing there in terms of correct procedure for pregnant women. (oils, positioning etc).

RockChick1984 · 22/11/2010 16:03

coco29 this is what it came up with when I googles the toilet roll test (not including the pages that were definately aimed more at men!) my.bounty.com/forums/post/134/2237697/1/4/1/Toilet-Roll-Test-Thread.htm
hope that helps xx

coco29 · 22/11/2010 16:03

Thanks for the tip nowpanic!! I've had a search and they are exepensive alright! Hubby has offered another session to have a go at it tonight ('with optional extras' naughty man! God he thought this was hilarious!) So if that doesnt work I'll try the Aveda salon in islington (thanks KPidgeon!!) They look great.
Sittinghippo - I had to google that too and no that wasnt what I was talking about..lol :o BUT its using a similar method!! I might try this later after my bath.

x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/11/2010 16:58

Oh Coco I am in Camden... we are local (ish) :-)

I weighed myself and seem to have put on a stone. I will be joining all the Weight Watchers once baby is here. I did WW afte rDS2 and managed to lose 3 stone - took about 18 months but i was lazy.

Larty74 · 22/11/2010 17:38

Just got back from GP antenatal appt and got to hear baby's heartbeat again! aaaaahh, what a lovely sound. was much stronger and much more clear than the last time. growth and everything else checked out as good and on schedule so happy days! Grin

The one thing I actually meant to but didn't do was weigh myself, just out of curiosity, but completely forgot. Not too desperate to know as the only thing that's grown is my bump (so far)

Am finishing out this school term and then I'm done in 3 weeks - for a number of reasons, a main one being that my school is in shared premesis and we have to set up/take down everyday and I'm nearing a state of being pretty much useless when it comes to that, also for once we can travel over the new year across the pond and not have to come back in time for term -which is really annoying when you don't have any LO's yet to begin with, so by the time we're back, could only be a matter of weeks. I'm hoping to pass the time with dog walking/yoga, a bit of baby shopping and coffees w/ friends. Lord only knows what state I'll be in by then, but will cross that bridge when I get there!

Happy hibernating everyone and take care!
