Oops, phone auto corrected "appts" to spots! Good luck with spots - mine are rubbish - but meant good luck with appointments!

Honeymoonmummy · 19/11/2010 16:48

Hi Split, nice to hear from you.

I can't remember the last time I posted so apologies if I duplicate what I've already said, but I think it's been a while so...

My DD turned 2 the other week, can't believe how quickly 2 has come around!

I've been signed off work (my first doctors sick note EVER) for a week with SPD (pelvic pain) and have just picked up my crutches from the physio. I don't need them all the time. I can't really do much though so it's quite frustrating, went round supermarket the other day and was virtually unable to walk that night!

I have put on about a stone the last time I weighed myself, I'm not too bothered. I have been eating really badly this time round, I was trying to eat healthily last time. I am more bothered about not giving the baby brain power than my own weight!

Oh and we had the 20 week scan and the sex wasn't clear so we had a private scan the week after and... it's a boy Smile So one of each which I'm very happy about!

Lozario · 19/11/2010 16:51

We had our scan this morning and everything is fine, we didn't find out the sex even though I was soooooo tempted, it's so hard when you know they know!!!! Baby was going mental once again, jumping all over the place just like in the first scan. I think I have a live wire on my hands here!!

NowPanic that's interesting about the leg crossing - I had no idea, my DS was back to back and I will do ANYTHING to avoid that again!!!! So I'll try to stop too. (really hard though, when I read your post I only realised I was crossing my legs at that moment!!!)

re: exercise... nah, with DS running around all over the place and walking around taking him to playgroups etc, I'm too knackered for any other exercise!! I didn't put on any weight in the first trimester but I was so sick so it's more of a surprise I didn't actually lose any. I've put on 12 pounds now but I'm quite small anyway so I think that's probably in proportion to my height.

Next midwife appt for me is the week after next. It's flying by, can't believe I just had my 22 week scan!!!

xxx

Lozario · 19/11/2010 16:53

cross-posted with Honeymoonmummy - congrats on boy!! I'd love another boy! :)

superpenguin · 19/11/2010 16:54

Hellos!

Now, that catch-up I keep promising...

muser I just made the mistake of clicking on your bravissimo bra fitting link whilst at work and got a message WEBSITE BLOCKED - UNACCEPTABLE USE OF IT! Ooops! Blush must try that again when at home!

sac55 and haloflo and chickie and emma and pippip and purple and jojo and pettyp and me23 and mixed - glad all your scans went well! :)

honeymoon sorry to hear about your SPD, hope you're ok.

sam names is a difficult topic isn't it! personally I wouldn't choose the same name as a very close friend's child but if you really like the name then go for it! I also agree with catherine though, I wouldn't have 2 children with the same first initial as each other as could get confusing when post arrives etc!
DH and I have discussed a few names and got some ideas but nowhere near a finalised shortlist yet. Plenty of time! :)

halo am shocked at boob leakage already! Shock does this often happen to people? Must be prepared for that one now!

jammie hope you are ok - sounds like you need a bit of a break.

welcome to the thread to diyqueen and dramamama and coco29

Oh regarding movement, I am 25 weeks today and still only feeling anything occasionally and faintly. I also have an anterior placenta. I think it will be a good while yet before DH or I can feel or see any movement from the outside.

tooimmature thanks for the reminder about the health in pregnancy grant. I am seeing my midwife on tues so will try to remember to ask about that. I haven't got my MATB1 form yet either so need to get that to give to work.

Larty I agree there is never anything on TV. But then again I only have 4 channels. catherine I am shocked and baffled that it is possible to spend £50 a month on television! Shock

sam interesting about baby showers - I didn't know people had them before the baby was born - isn't it normal to have this after baby arrives?? Personally I wouldn't have one at all though as don't like the idea that it might be interpreted as asking everyone to buy gifts if you see what I mean. I would rather people come round separately and if they want to bring a gift they can but we wouldn't ask for or expect anything.

gem I haven't weighed myself in ages so I would probably get a shock too if I did. Not planning to though. don't worry about it.

and on the subject of prams/pushchairs, I am no further forward. ocean i have those same criteria as you too, and also I really need it to have a large and accessible basket underneath as I have to carry a lot of stuff around sometimes.

muser the long pillow sounds like a good idea. I have 4 or 5 pillows at the moment, 2 under my head, 1 under my bump, 1 between my knees and 1 under my feet!

catherine re maternity leave, I think they are not allowed to ask you when/if you intend to come back. this is because you have the right to change your mind and come back whenever you want (with 8 weeks notice I think).

muser I love the ground rules for visitors by the way! :)

spilt lovely to hear from you and good luck with your consultant appt next week x

re exercise, I am the sort of person who has never done any regular exercise in her life and certainly never been anywhere near a gym, but have started going to 'aqua-natal' once a week, which is a gentle exercise class in the swimming pool just for pregnant ladies, and am quite enjoying that.

Hi to everyone else too!

Right that was a mammoth post. Just realised it is nearly 5pm so I'm off home. Have a great weekend all! :)

zippy30 · 19/11/2010 17:25

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say a quick hello. My first post on mumsnet. I'm just over 21 weeks pregnant with my first baby and due on 31st March - so I've just managed to sneak into this month.

I've felt the baby moving a little bit - seems to be most active when I'm watching TV in the evenings and when I'm just about to nod off to sleep!

Got the 20 week scan next week but we're not going to find out the sex. It's going to be tempting 'tho...

:)

KPidgeon · 19/11/2010 17:54

Hi all,

Just had our scan today- amazing seeing all that detail. We were adamant we wouldn't find out but in the end the temptation was too great. A little boy! We're thrilled (we'd have been thrilled with a girl too it's just lovely knowing)

I'm a leg-crosser too. What is back-to- back delivery? Please?!

SOoo glad it's the weekend. Hope you all have good ones.

K

Medee · 19/11/2010 18:42

good news, KP! And welcome, zippy.

chickiewoo · 19/11/2010 19:06

Great to hear everyone's news and catch up with you all. I too, have put on over a stone in weight, which does worry me slightly as I'm only 21 weeks and people are already saying how big I look! Hey ho, going to try and take it all in my stride and worry about getting the weight off afterwards. Saw the Head Obstetrician yesterday (as have rare health condition and had horrendous first pregnancy resulting in emergency c/s at 37 weeks). The good news is he is pleased with how baby is growing and all appears well. I will be having a growth scan at 32 weeks, following which a decision will be made as to if I need a c/s again or if I can try for a natural birth. I'm not set on either, as long as baby and me are ok, so will wait and see what happens. Hope you all have a good weekend x

KPidgeon · 19/11/2010 19:09

Thank you Medee! x

Larty74 · 19/11/2010 19:20

Congrats on the boys Honeymoon and Kpidgeon lots of boys in this group so far!

So glad for weekend as well! have got GP appointment on Monday so get to hear hearbeat again! The more you get to see, hear, feel, the more I feel connected to this little guy and can't wait to meet him! At the same time, very much enjoying my time with DH.

Picking up second hand all-terrain travel system tomorrow - pushchair, carrycot, carseat - £40! couldn't pass it up. we do lots of country walks with dog so will be ideal but will also get small compact version of just pushchair/car seat for ease of getting in and out of car. lord help us we are running out of room to put all this stuff already!

me23 · 19/11/2010 20:32

congrats on your scan and baby boy kp am glad it went well Smile

back-to-back labour is when the baby is in the OP position i.e their back is facing your back. This often results in a longer more painful labour with a lot of pain in the back, however the baby can and often does turn in labour to the usual postion OA.

The not crossing legs advice doesn't matter now in terms of baby's position as baby still has lots of space to move however closer to term crossing legs can reduce space at front of pe;vis and encourage a posterior position.

However we shouldn't really be crossing our legs now as it can cause varicose veins in the legs as blood flow is reduced.

Muser · 19/11/2010 22:15

Congratulations KP. It's lovely seeing good news.

OP posts:
NowPanicAndFreakOut · 20/11/2010 12:08

Re crossing legs and back to back - yes sorry forgot to include that as Me23 said it's not necessary yet - my midwife only told me now so I'd get into the habit of not crossing by the time I should stop. Having serious preg brain of course I can't remember when she said that was Blush but 30-something weeks I think!

Purplefan · 20/11/2010 15:57

Hi everyone,

Good to hear from you spilt, good luck with ttc again.

Glad to hear scans are going well.

We had our fetal heart scan yesterday in Oxford. Scan went ok and whilst she thinks there is not a hole in the heart, she did point out that the left side of the heart is smaller than the right therefore this may indicate heart issues, but then again it may be normal Confused

To be honest I think that they are being so careful because they know that she has turners syndrome, and heart problems are an issue for one third of turners girls. I am not overally worried because they are really looking after us and we are in the system!! We have to return to Oxford at 30 weeks (4th Jan) for her to have another look.

We have been told that any potential problems are easily fixed with surgery and this may have a bearing on where I give birth! With this in mind I think I am definately gonna go for a planned section! Hmm

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.... anyone christmas shopping???? I really need to get organised!! Wink

treebird · 20/11/2010 16:08

Hi all, my first time on mumsnet, im 25 weeks pregnant, due on 10th march with a little boy. I already have a 4 year old little girl so am really chuffed. x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 20/11/2010 17:00

Hi all,

Had to just post to day WOW to superpenguin... amazing catch up.

Went to check out pushchairs with DH today, he now understands that I am not being extravagant when I tak prices. No further along, in fact have moved back slightly.

I dont have my next MW appointment till 28 weeks... does this matter in terms of my Health Grant £190 thingy - the name escapes me???

Medee · 20/11/2010 18:28

welcome Treebird.

Health In Pregnancy, Mama - I'm asking about mine on Monday (24 weeks)

1Catherine1 · 20/11/2010 18:54

If I were you Mixed I'd be phoning the surgery/MW and asking for a form to be left at reception for you to pick up. Why wait an extra 3 weeks for the money when you're doing your baby shopping now?

me23 · 20/11/2010 19:34

Agree with icatherine Thats what I'm going to do as I won't see mw till 28 weeks either, call the mws ask them to leave it at reception for you?

haloflo · 20/11/2010 19:45

Waiting until your 28 week appointment won't matter in terms of actually getting the money. You just have to be at least 25 weeks pregnant.

The direct gov website has all the terms and conditions.

Like others said though phone your MW if you would like it earlier. I hope they process them quickly! I want mine promptly in the New Year as i've decided I can't face shopping anywhere other than online until then (Christmas crowds = horrid!)

Welcome to both treebird and zippy30

Purple Glad to hear your LO doesn't have a hole in her heart, fingers crossed her heart is ok overall at the next scan.

niamh29 · 20/11/2010 20:16

Hi all, it's been ages since I've caught up with everyone, hope everyone is well and welcome to the newbies!

I'm doing well, had doc apt at 20 weeks and all was well, don't have a scan till 28 weeks and I'm dying to find out the sex, I'm convinced that it's a boy but maybe thats cause I have 2 girls and I'm just a little bit hoping!

I'm 22 weeks now and still only feeling 2-3 kicks a day, it's usually just one kick at a time and I'm always busy so I'll feel something then stop to concentrate but by then it's gone and it's very frustrating! I don't seem to feel anything when I'm relaxing in the evenings, I'm trying not to worry but it's hard! I seem to be worrying more with this one than the previous 2, I don't think that'll stop till baby is out and safely in my arms!

Kagey · 20/11/2010 21:28

Niamh 28 weeks - that would be torture to wait that long!

Honeymoonbaby I feel your pain (sort of anyway) as been getting pain in the lower back area and bum area instead (PGP I am thinking). It gets horrid by the end of the day and nightly wakings for toilet trips are painful as our bathroom is downstairs.

DD sometimes is saying that I am having a girl and sometimes a boy (we do not know) but either way she has picked the name Big Nose for it Hmm Well I guess she is only 2 and as far as I know is not in the top 100 names for 2009 :)

Welcome to new joiners!

1Catherine1 · 20/11/2010 21:30

Niamh the most feeling I get from her is when I'm lay on the sofa on my back. Lying on my side or sat up - relaxing or not I just can't feel her. In all honesty I blame it on my weight pre-pregnancy. You could perhaps try it, it isn't comfortable for more than 30 minutes (or at least not for me) but it is when my LO starts the fidgeting :)

Anyway, I popped on to check whether pregnancy cravings can also show up as an increased appetite? In the last 24 hours I've been suffering with the munchies.. constantly.. I don't usually over eat or comfort eat or eat when I'm bored or anything like that but I've eaten some crap today and yesterday evening and am about to tuck into some Nacho with lots of salsa and cheese. As I put them in the microwave it occurred to me that I don't usually eat so much rubbish and this is some of the worst food I've eaten since becoming pregnant. Thing is I'm not really hungry... I just want... not like me at all. Not just me right?

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 20/11/2010 22:36

Catherine I agree about movement. I feel it doing most things except walking now (25 weeks) but still def strongest when lying propped up in front of tele. Just filmed it and sent to DH - I think it's creepy - he was transfixed by the fact both sides of my belly bulged at once! How can anyone not realise they are pregnant until they give birth? I promise my tummy doesn't normal move all on its own!

Purplefan that sounds like great news. She sounds very strong and a real fighter.

I just lost this post and apologise if it end up appearing twice.
