Spilt glad to hear you're doing ok. Really hope the doctors could give you the answers you need and good luck ttc.

Am just on my way to my 24 week appt with midwife. Hopefully everything still ok.

All best to everyone.
Xx

Clucky31 · 18/11/2010 10:52

Spilt - just wanted to wish lots of luck with ttc. Take care of yourself xxx

Clucky31 · 18/11/2010 11:06

Out of curiosity, how much weight have people put on so far?
I'm 24+2 today and have put on around 10lbs-1 stone depending on what time of day I weigh myself. Not sure how much of this is weight I'm supposed to have put on and how much of it is due to over-eating for two Grin

Medee · 18/11/2010 12:03

I lost about 7 pounds in my first trimester, and then put about 5 of those back on up to week 19. Not sure what I am now, but doesn't feel like I have put on much other than baby bump. I guess I will find out at my midwife on Monday.

Muser · 18/11/2010 12:07

I really wouldn't weigh yourself, if you're mostly eating healthily then worry about the weight after the birth.

Having said that, I do weigh myself quite regularly so I know what I weigh. I lost 10lbs to start with, and have gained that back plus an additional 4lbs. So that's a stone in all. I don't appear to be fatter anywhere than boobs & bump. In fact my bum & thighs look smaller. Don't care.

My midwife hasn't weighed me since my first appointment, so she doesn't seem to care either.

KPidgeon · 18/11/2010 12:57

Hi all. Haven't written for ages on here. I hope you're all well.

Just on weight- I've put on 2 stone. Am horrified. I have a big bump and the midwife has said it'll be a big baby (finally have my last scan tomorrow) but this seems like a lot of weight compared to what you guys are saying and what the recommendations or expected weight gain charts say.

Horrid. I have put a bit on my thighs and bum but nothing major. I was "normal" for my height before but I am not liking what my scales say at the moment.

Not eating masses- I'm sure I'm not eating more than before. HELP!

1Catherine1 · 18/11/2010 13:20

KPidgeon.. I really wouldn't worry, it achieves nothing. I got weighed at my first appointment but haven't weighed myself since. I have probably put on too much weight but I'm not overly bothered. I will lose it eventually.

Applemuncher · 18/11/2010 13:45

I know I put on 9lbs in the first three months - haven't weighed myself since but I suspect it's bad! Can't even claim to be eating healthily Confused.

All I know is that I was buying size 12 maternity pants and they fit just fine, now I'm finding that they're VERY uncomfortable. Sad

me23 · 18/11/2010 13:50

I've just weighed myself and I have put on 5lbs, however I was overweight to begin with so I shouldn't put on a lot of weight, and I know baby is growing well all measurments have been on 50th centile or more so I'm not worried.

Good luck with scan tomorrow kpidgeon

JoJoB77 · 18/11/2010 14:03

Hi ladies

Talking of weight, I got weighed at my doctors appt yesterday (midwife appt, they don't weigh you if you don't want to be) and I've put on 11 pounds. I'm quite happy with that to be honest, I lost a lot of weight for my wedding earlier this year so I started off at a fair advantage.

Pre-pregnancy I was into my fitness/running etc, however since finding out I was pregnant I've done nothing more than walking up a few flights of stairs - I can tell I've lost muscle tone because of it.

Is anyone here doing much exercise? I'm thinking maybe of taking up swimming (if I can find the motivation of course!)

KPidgeon · 18/11/2010 14:06

Thanks for your reassurance everyone! And thanks me23

1Catherine1 I think I will stop looking at the weighing scales- it achieves nothing, as you say.

My friend gave birth 4 weeks ago and breastfeeding her little boy has meant her losing a lot straight after the birth. That's my plan! And I just hope I can keep fitting into clothes for the next 4 months..!

Clucky31 · 18/11/2010 14:41

KPidgeon - Doesn't sound like you need to worry to me. My philosophy is that I'll just do my best not to over-eat too much and accept whatever weight I put on as being necessary to the pregnancy. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

JoJoB77 - am also intending to start swimming but so far haven't been able to make myself. Not really being doing any exercise other than ones that the physio gave me for my back problems and am hoping that these will help my ligaments to cope a bit better with the extra weight.

Keep forgetting to do my pelvic floor exercises which is bothering me more than anything else at the moment! I'm already leaking a bit if I laugh too hard or sneeze Shock

JoJoB77 · 18/11/2010 15:40

I have to admit I've leaked once or twice when I've coughed Clucky31, only happens when I'm busting for a wee anyway but even so Blush

Forgot to say, hope all goes well at scan tomorrow KPidgeon

PipPipPip · 18/11/2010 17:21

JoJoB77 I'm not exactly 'into' fitness but I've been swimming several times in pregnancy, done an aqua aerobics class and have recently started attending a weekly 'pregnancy yoga' class.

The pregnancy yoga is completely fantastic - I can't recommend it highly enough. It is very low key but the stretches feel fantastic. While it isn't aerobic enough to make a difference to weight, I feel much more supple and I'm SURE it'll help me avoid back pain etc later on.

The aqua aerobics class was great too. It was me and about ten elderly ladies! But I could work up a 'sweat' while being supported in water with little risk of injury.

I love long walks (walked for seven hours straight on Sunday, in Paris) but I have never enjoyed running and doubt that'll change in pregnancy :)

StrangewaysHereICome · 18/11/2010 17:26

Kpidgeon good luck for your scan. I wouldn't worry about the weight now (says me who hates looking int he mirror atm!) I was very fit having just run the London Marathon in just over 4 hours before I got pg and was within normal weight range and looking quite toned if I say so myself Wink. I havent run a step since 6 weeks pg due to fatigue and sickness and have been eating for England. I had put on 7lbs by 9 weeks and havent been near the scales since. I can see I have put on weight round my face, upper arms, thighs and bum and my bump is huge. I would guess I have put on close to 2 stone. I have already got a running plan in order starting in April and I am getting a Baby Jogger pushchair! I will get back to fitness, but am enjoying being lazy and eating lots while I can Grin

StrangewaysHereICome · 18/11/2010 17:44

Lovely to hear from you Spilt I think of you a lot especially as our dates were so close. I wish you all the very best while ttc and hope you have happy news very soon. Take care of yourself xxx

PipPipPip · 18/11/2010 21:17

Haha, I just misread StrangeWays post and thought that she ran the London Marathon four hours before she got pregnant.

I thought 'wow, wouldn't you be too tired to even contemplate....?'

Grin
KPidgeon · 18/11/2010 22:03

*StrangewaysHereICome" Thank you. I put on 10lb in the first 12 weeks too. I too plan on being a fit bunny once the baby is here. Not a runner at all (hats off to you for your marathon time- brilliant!)

I'm like Pipipip- love walking and love long walks. That's my plan, with baby in tow.

Hope you are all feeling well.

Am going to sleep now so tomorrow and the scan will hurry up and arrive..!

Oceanbreeze · 18/11/2010 22:12

KPidgeon Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Regarding weight - no idea how much I've put on, but I suspect far too much! Just figure I'll worry about that later Wink Although nice weather next spring/summer would be helpful Grin

pushmepullyou · 18/11/2010 22:34

Hi all

Sorry I haven't checked in for a bit, real life a bit too hectic at the moment.

I have put on nearly a stone since I got pregnant (am now 24+1), which is a bit more than I was hoping, particularly as it seems to be early all of it in the last 4 weeks Blush. Not as much as this stage last time though, which is good.

1Catherine1 · 19/11/2010 08:04

Good morning ladies,

Been suffering from migraines the last few days as I previously mentioned but today it has extended into a cold with migraine. I feel like a real skiver for taking the day off because of it since I know pre-pregnancy I would have got all my best drugs out (lempsip cold and flu tablets) and gone in and fought through it. But since I've struggled through for the last 2 days already without the additional symptoms I suspect that paracetamol is just not up to the job on this one. :( I just wish I didn't feel so guilty for taking the day off.

Jupiter118 · 19/11/2010 08:58

Catherine - don't feel guilty! Hope you feel better and that you have the opportunity to watch some daytime tv!

Kpidgeon - good luck!

Weight - not sure there is much you can do? Seem to have put on just over a stone wish it was less, but resigned to weight watchers after birth and lots and lots and lots of walking with pram/buggy as additional exercise. Have been going to yoga and trying to swim, but not been this week so far - must go! Also thinking about dusting down the Wii fit as quite low impact, but can't face it weighing me. It ought to have a preggers setting Grin

So hoping for dry weather next spring summer - I can't be unlucky twice can i - first mat leave summer 2007 where it pissed with rain constantly.

Right lots of work to do - must stop faffing!

TooImmature2BMum · 19/11/2010 10:34

Hi all!

I can't face weighing myself. I last looked about 4 weeks ago and had put on a stone. I don't dare look now! A lot of it must be boobs and bump, but my arms are definitely flabbier and I'm not sure about my legs and bum (which means they are bigger but I'm in denial).

I keep meaning to go swimming but never quite managing it. Everyone keeps telling me to do it though - Mum and Grandma both swear by it. Grandma says it helped her have Mum so quickly - she went into labour, decided to get in the bath (this was 1966 and she was going for a home birth) while Granddad ran to alert the midwife who lived up the street and to collect the gas and air from his surgery (he was a dentist), and after a few minutes she got out of the bath and had Mum there and then on the bathroom floor. She keeps telling me it was the swimming that did it. I am convinced, but that still doesn't make me go on a cold dark evening.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 19/11/2010 11:57

Re weight, I have no idea - haven't been weighed by midwife since 12 weeks and don't own scales. Stayed at my mum's at 20 weeks and had put on a stone but tbh was quite relieved as I was just underweight when I got pg. Have grown a lot in last five weeks though so suspect it's more like 2 stone by now.

Saw midwife yesterday - she was amazing. Took heartbeat and whilst the Doppler was still all over the place she said "that's about 140" - about a minute later Doppler agreed exactly... To me it just sounded fast!

Also, she told me to stop crossing my legs - agghhh! Am a terrible leg-crosser - just not comfortable if I don't - was even told off aged 6 by my strict church school for it! Can't imagine being able to stop (but as she said it helps prevent back to back delivery am going to have to try...)

Got my forms for maternity grant so will send on Monday as I'm 25 weeks tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone with spots / scans.

Xx
