Does anyone if the Baby Jogger City Select is a good choice with the carrycot for one DC? Was reading about it last night and it looks great but seeing a lot of references to it in twin mode (which may come in handy in the next couple of years, who knows...)

Hi everyone
Good news had the scan and everything looks healthy and normal The sonographer was great and explained everything he was doing throughout.
He asked us at the beginning if we wanted to know the sex we said yes and he checked at the end and you could clearly see a willy! We are having a boy we are so pleased.
Also found out my placenta is anterior so that explains why I haven't been feeling as much movement.
After the scan we went to mothercare and bought the first clothes for baby.
I'm so excited now and can't wait for march.

Just updating the list with the sex and added dramamama to the list.

me23 congratulations!!! Ooh a little boy, lovely!!! Does placenta anterior mean it's in front then? I wonder where mine is now, at my 12 week scan it was low-lying.

So nice to be back to normal this week - last week was awful with us all so sick!!

Congrats on your scan me23 and it's lovely news that you are expecting a little boy . I kind of wish I had found out the sex now!

I've not been around much lately but have been trying to keep up with news. Lots of scans going well which is ace.

As for me I am getting quite uncomfortable now - bending over is hard work and am huffing and puffing a lot!! I have had a horrid cough for a couple of weeks and my ribs are really sore every time I cough, sneeze or roll over in bed. I am over the worse now so hopefully my ribs won't be so painful. Even had to resort to sleeping on a towel ! I am 25 weeks now and getting quite impatient to meet little bubs - roll on the New Year.

I have another midwife appointment on Wednesday. No idea what's meant to happen at this one, but I should get my MatB1 form so I can tell work when I'm going on maternity leave. It'll be nice having a leaving date.

On sleeping, I have bought a body pillow from Ebay, not a specific pregnancy one, just a very long pillow. It's lovely. I do get a bit hot after a while, but for initial getting comfy it's perfect.

Don't forget to get your health in pregnancy grant application form too while you're there Muser, could be useful before Christmas and the VAT increase :) I'm thinking about booking my appointment early just to make sure I get the money before Christmas. Surprised you don't already have a leaving date though. I do, I had to fill it in on the form to notify the council that I'm pregnant. My official leaving date is 13th March, exactly one week before my due date. I'm just concerned that nobody seems to be asking when I want to go back. I keep volunteering the information but the form didn't ask and when I read the booklet it said they assumed you took the full year unless you otherwise state. Woman in HR said I'd get a letter from HR head office asking me for this info but I haven't yet and considering it took nearly 18 months for them to send me my contract of employment I'm a tad worried.

catherine My leaving date is 13 March too! I am taking 2 weeks annual leave before I go though. Are you doing that? What if the baby is early!? I hope you sort out your return date, i'm telling my work (also a council) I want to take 39 weeks.

Also talking of the Health in Pregnancy Grant, my MW told me she wouldn't sign the form a day before 25 weeks so there was no point making an early appointment. Not sure if that will be the same everywhere but though I best mention it.

Larty are you finishing work in 4 weeks and going on maternity or just til end of term?? I am going to St Michaels hosp in Bristol to take my BF to get some meds as unfortunatley she had a hypo sunday night due to HG and she was kept in overnight but the hospital forgot to give her some of her medication? I was kind of hoping for a quiet day at home as i worked yesterday and am knackered, but she's not allowed to drive and obviously i don't want her to go without her meds...so a trip to Bristol, just to cheer myself up i might have to go to Primarni

I have a rough "oh I'll leave sometime in mid Feb" date 1Catherine. But you don't actually have to decide until week 25 and HR weren't bothered until I had the proper paperwork. I'm not in a role where they'll get maternity cover for me, so they don't really need to have it set in stone.

I'm probably going to work until 12 Feb and then go. I may take a week's leave before if I have any. Or I may take a week off in January just for a bit of a rest.

Do teachers have to finish at the end of a term, you can't finish at half-term? Seems an awful waste of mat leave.

I have heard of some woman getting their pregnancy grant form before exactly on week 25 so I guess it does vary area to area. Since I am officially 25 weeks pregnant on a Sunday though and I can only see my midwife on a Friday at my local surgery to me it would make more sense that she signed it when I was 24w+5 than when I'm 25w+5. I have read in the pregnancy forum though that if you send it and it is even a day early they will send it back and not process it. So I'm thinking I'll post it on the Saturday so the earliest they'll receive it is either the Monday or Tuesday when I'll be over 25 weeks. I must say though, your midwife sounds like a bitch, how unreasonable, especially before Christmas. I'll try and contact her and find out.

As for if the baby is early... then I start my maternity leave early. I'm quite easy going on that point. I just hope she isn't because it will mess up all my lovely timing. Holidays are worked out perfectly. I take 18 weeks ML where in my OH takes 2 weeks of his leave and we visit his family in Spain, then I go back for 2 weeks and my OH uses the last 2 weeks of his annual leave to look after her while I'm at work, then I'm on summer holidays. PERFECT!

I found out yesterday my parents intend to come and visit me for 3 days when the baby is born. I don't know why this is such a surprise, I guess I should have expected it, but I didn't and now I'm dreading it.

No Medee, I'm finishing mid way through term, not even half term. Some choose to have their half term and then start their maternity leave on the day term starts back to run holidays and ML together but since mine is due 3 weeks after half term and I need my ML to run till mid July I'm not.

Set some ground rules for the visit now! These should be:

1. We are not doing any cooking. You want to eat, the kitchen is there. Make enough for all while you're at it.
2. We are not making drinks or fetching snacks. Kettle is there, mine's a cup of tea, milk & one sugar. And yes I will have a biscuit.
3. We are not doing housework. If you think the place needs tidying the hoover is over there. Go for it.
4. I am not getting out of bed if I don't want to.
5. I am breastfeeding (if you are), I don't need an audience. Bugger off.
6. Yes you can hold the baby. But not constantly. My baby. Give it back.

Morning All!
Great ground rules Muser wish I had set those out last time. I'd add- Wash up anything you make dirty. I am too busy/tired/exhilarated to even clean my own things, let alone anyone elses. Oh I recall a couple of times of feeling furious with my sisters when they decended on us and then left a muddle of dirty cups and plates when they went. They have more than made up for it since though with caring for my DD for me on days that I have to work.

I had a MW visit this morning. Asked about cervical length scans as a way of at least giving me an idea if this baby is also going to make an early appearance (DD was born at 34 wks) but they are not offered here, so am now thinking carefully about when I go for ML. I was thinking that I'd work up to half term, wld mean a Feb 18th finish down here, but with baby due on March 4th that only gives me 2 wks even if I manage to go to term. So hard as there are no answers to why DD was early and how likely it is that this one will be too. Also, as I am not planning to go back this time (tho not telling them that yet) we really need the money to last as long as poss. Going to have to make a decision soon though, as have to hand in the form on Thurs.

Great to hear that scans are all going well still and we are all getting to see the little ones bouncing about. I heard heart beat this morning and also some nice strong kicking the doppler off!
Anyway, should be making lunch for a friend in RL so must get on while DD naps. Love to all.

Hi all. Had my third scan today and baby was unco-operative once again, however she was a lovely sonographer and was able to tell us that we are expecting our third boy. I am strangely not the least bit disapointed, but suspect at some point I might have a little no girl for us moment. But ultimately I am chuffed and DC were with me and they are so excited about having a little brother.

Need to seriously start thinking of the boysnames now.

In terms of visitors, I have never got over how intrusive and expecting of a cuppa tea DH family were with DS1. My SIL actually visited the hospital and stayed 4 whole hours and in the end I had to actually ask her to go so I could feed. This is my last so will be doing things EXACTLY how I want this time and will be accepting no compromises.

MIXED i have simular names in mind, as my husband is Afgani and i am english, both muslim. we have some Islamic names in mind and i also have to consider my family in easy pronounciationa too.

i like Adam and especially Haris. H'aris is how it would sound which i just love. As for girls i liked Aailya but DH wants to name her after his mum Bibi.So im happy either way.

as for buggies, ive changed my choice so many times, now i like the graco symbio.

i also have to agree re the baby showers, i think its nice but i dont like too much attention and would just like a quiet one and not too much fuss.

sorry not replied in a while, been mega-busy at work lately.

Thanks for all your replies on bras. I don't know when I'll next get to go to any shops as never seem to have the time to go into town! In the meanwhile I have ordered a selection of bras in a selection of sizes for home delivery and will send back those that are no good.
