Due July 2011?

MadAboutTheBoys · 24/10/2010 07:42

Just got my BFP this morning and so excited! Managed this conception while DH was out of the country so very chuffed that it worked! Already have two DS, one who is 3.2 and an August birthday and one who is 16 months and a June birthday so bring on the Summer parties!

Have never been part of an antenatal club on here before but as this is planned to be my last pregnancy am hoping to find some other July mums to share the journey with (although know I am very early!) Am already worrying how the birth will go as DS2 was born unexpectedly in the kitchen after a 90 min labour with the midwife only just there to catch him, so am a bit worried if subsequent labours are supposed to go quicker whether I will have anyone with me for this one, but at least I have a while to go yet!

Hi all - been in hiding. So tired in evenings I can't even manage to MN Xmas Wink

My poor DH is feeling unloved as I'm so tired/queasy I collapse every night and he cooks dinner - I wake up eat and then go back to sleep. He's a darling to put up with it! But he will hopefully get a baby out of it Grin

Am craving salty foods too - normally I steer clear but gagging for them this time.

Itisleclerc am really nervous about twins - I have quite a lot of family history of twins and am breastfeeding DS (didn't know that increased the risk). Feeling much sicker this time too. Oh fiddlesticks. Won't get my scan until mid-Jan - might succumb to getting a private early scan.

Stangirl · 09/12/2010 12:19

Received my booking in appointment (18th Dec) and nuchal scan (4th Jan) today. Making it all seem real again.

On the DP side of things - all hunky dory. I'm not really getting MS so all well in the love boat and he loves being a father so is very excited about upcoming DC2.

inbetweener · 09/12/2010 13:37

Oh just my moody Dh then obviously, oh well.
Hmm It wouldnt be so bad if I just didnt feel so sick all the time.
getting up and getting ready for work just about does me in ! I wasnt like this with my dd's so DH is of course convinced it means that this one is a boy Shock hope he wont be too disopointed as we dont seem to do boys in our family !

Just ate my lunch and even though I feel sick Im still hungry. Weird.

inbetweener · 09/12/2010 13:40

My booking in appt is on the 18th as well stangirl its a saturday which I was pleased about as I dont have to make an excuse to work about getting time off.
My scan is on the 6th jan Grin

nicolamumof3 · 09/12/2010 14:54

inbetweener, do not fret my dh would certainly comiserate with yours atm! he is feeling very unloved. But with my 24hr nausea saw boobs and exhaustion i couldn't bear to be touched atm. Am hoping things take a dramatic turn for the better soon!!

Just had my booking in apt. Was ok, tho midwife could only take enough blood for one test, she said prob im dehydrated..great. So I've come home for carrot cake and a cup of tea before the dcs are back Xmas Grin

have to go back next fri for more bloods. Will wait for 12week scan apt and no need to see mw for another 8 weeks so thats that then!

Fraochsmum · 09/12/2010 14:59

Isn't it funny how we start to obsess about food when there are things we're supposed to avoid?! I was delighted as I had some brie the night before my bfp! And I have to say I'm mightily pleased I'm not craving a McD's - our closest one is 3 hours away Xmas Grin
I love it when Dr's use ordinary terms button! I once went to a GP with a dermatalogical complaint and as told it was "sods law"! After tests and about a year later it was put down to being part of my genetic make up - I preferred sods law tho Xmas Grin
I am also symptomless, apart from feeling bloaty at night. I didn't have any ms with DD, so am really pleased not to have it this time round either. No boob changes yet (think I'm 8/9 wks?), tingling last time alerted me to being pg, and then they got really sore, but possibly because I went from B to E in a few weeks. Thankfully the last scan I had showed the heartbeat or I may well be worried now! It can seem like a lifetime to wait for a scan, but if anything gives you cause for concern please contact the mw's asap - they would much rather do something to help (hopefully).
My DH is brilliant and, like stangirl he is very excited about being a daddy again. Even putting up with my new-found loss of libido Xmas Sad

Ivegotmrbitey · 09/12/2010 15:12

My libido made a surprise guest appearance in the middle of the night Xmas Grin sadly my husband was not over joyed and point blank refused to wake up! It's gone again now so he missed his only opportunity for December I think!

SpannerPants · 09/12/2010 16:38

The recent posts on here have encouraged me to get McDonalds Grin

I've got my booking appointment with the midwife on Wednesday but I haven't got an appointment for a scan yet - hopefully I won't have to wait too long!

emilyplus1 · 09/12/2010 16:38

thank god am not the only1 with no libido at the mo!!! dh dosent seem to mind to much or thats what he says to me anyway. been so tired ive even taken to havin 2 hour naps with my dd late morning an still wanting to go 2 bed at half 7 when she does and workin nitshift sucks!!! anyway thats my mone finished lol

got my scan date its the 29th so gives me something to look 4ward 2 in the lull between xmas and hugmanay x

fallingandlaughing · 09/12/2010 20:00

My DP isn't up for putting out since the scan.. I think it is the thought of something "in there" Grin I am pretty wiped at the moment anyway but hopefully he will crack rather than give me the longest dry spell ever!

Just had an unplanned week off work due to the weather. It was great lying around all day.. hard to get back to the grind.

ItIsILeclerc · 09/12/2010 20:40

Yep, feast to famine (as LadyGG put it) here too Xmas Grin I do have a fair idea of how my bits all work but it just seems wrong to be prodding about up there Xmas Blush Fortunately DH feels the same way. He is more or less fending for himself atm though as I feel too ill to cook/eat most evenings. You're making me hungry mentioning McDs and cheese-stuffed mushrooms though (nom!).

Gruffalo, I think I read somewhere that a family history of twins is reason to get an early scan, though I guess it would depend on the EPU and how busy they were. There are two sets in my family but in one set there is no blood link between me and the twin-mum if that makes sense. Other is my very close (mums are sisters, dads are brothers Xmas Confused) cousin but I'm hoping she was just super-fertile because she'd just come off the pill (told her husband it could take years, conceived twins the first month - apparently he wasn't best pleased Xmas Grin).

Scan in the morning. Eek. Worried about getting there as much as anything - partial thaw caused chaos this morning and journey to work took over an hour instead of 20 min. Also having weird cramping this evening, sharp pains on one side, almost how I'd expect OV pains to feel.

Want brie now. Mmm.

ItIsILeclerc · 09/12/2010 20:41

Forgot to say, scan will be vaginal tomorrow as only 8 weeks or so. Not looking forward to that at all.

nicolamumof3 · 09/12/2010 20:48

leclerc, i had normal scan yesterday at 8+3?

buttonmoon78 · 09/12/2010 20:55

They'll probably try for a abdominal scan first then go internal if they have to. And, really, it's not that bad! The success of an abdominal scan depends on a lot of things - amount of wee in your bladder, angle of womb, erm... amount of flesh covering your belly!

ItIsILeclerc · 09/12/2010 21:16

Had a vaginal one last time at 6+6 and it was fine, not sure why I'm dreading this one so much, particularly as I thought I'd lost all my inhibitions about that kind of thing after going through childbirth once. Maybe it's a hormonal thing, it just feels as though it's going to be terribly intrusive.

Lady on the phone said it would definitely be vaginal and I should have an empty bladder. Was a bit surprised tbh - maybe she was testing whether I really wanted the scan? Xmas Wink

There is quite a lot of flesh on my belly Xmas Blush (and after posting y'day saying I wasn't feeling particularly big, I feel massive and obviously pg today).

nicolamumof3 · 09/12/2010 21:33

I've taken to wearing alot scarves to cover my tum

GruffaloMama · 09/12/2010 21:45

Good plan nicola - am so bloated today I look about 5 months gone (actually 8 weeks). Proper puking started today. Didn't have it with DS - just queasiness. Can't go to work tomorrow if I feel like this.

Leclerc does a maternal grandmother count as 'close', do you think? Good luck with the scan. Just think of your favourite tune/happy place and zone out while they do the nasty bits. (Mentally humming 'Summertime' has got me through an astonishing range of embarrassments!)

BTW Mamas and Papas have some maternity gear at half price. I got three pairs of jeans for £10. (i.e. £3.33 each!) The sizes are a bit random but it might be worth a look?

scrivette · 10/12/2010 08:14

Glad I am not the only one who is slightly concerned about twins! My Dad was a twin!

I have also been eating McDonalds, I never usually have them but keep craving strawberry milkshakes! (I justify it as it's milk and therefore calcium!!)

Silly question, what is a 'booking in' appointment? I went to my doctors over 2 weeks ago and he said he would refer me for a nuchal scan and to the midwife and I haven't heard a thing since, not sure if that's normal or not so may give surgery a call.

LadyGoneGaga · 10/12/2010 08:20

The booking in appt is your first appt with your midwife where they basically "book you in" to the system. Take all your medical history, take bloods, set up your notes, discuss any concerns etc. Usually have it around 8-10 weeks I think. Give them a ring to check if you are worried.

Stangirl · 10/12/2010 08:35

inbetweener I re-read my post in answer to your question about DH and it read a bit everything's-rosy-with-me-and-i-can't-be-bothered-with your-issues, I am really sorry I didn't mean it to come out like that. I thought I was just putting a straight answer but it was a bit rubbish.

My DP was more restrained with DC1 because we had had serious IF issues and a miscarriage in our history so he was a bit "off" because he didn't want me to get excited again for all our hopes to be dashed. Luckily all was well. This time round I've told him I'm going to assume all will be well and just bloody well enjoy it. We've already started debating names......

Ivegotmrbitey · 10/12/2010 09:20

stangirl we are also arguing heatedly debating names. Husband has some very strange ideas. His all time favourite for a girl is my number one hated name! How have we been together for eleven years and this has only come out now? I have announced that she who grows the baby, delivers the baby and feeds the baby has final say on names!

Thanks for clarifying the booking in appointment ladyGGG mine isn't until the twentieth of December which feels like ages to wait. I live in a very rural area and they only come to the surgery fortnightly.

My first cousin on my mother's side had twins last year. When she had the scan that told her she was expecting two she cried for days love her - totally overwhelmed! Once she got used to the idea she was delighted and now extolls the virtues of a pair.

nicola I am going to adorn myself in scarves tonight, good idea!

MissLolita · 10/12/2010 09:35

Hello ladies. Nicola, great news! Buttonmoon I am VERY jealous of your shiny uterus! I have been eating rather a lot of McDonalds too....:)

I have caved and booked an early scan for tomorrow morning when I will either be 10+5 (from LMP) or 9+6/10 (from when I think I ovulated). I've still heard nothing from the NHS about a scan and I have lost quite a lot of faith as apparently my records still aren't appearing on 'the system' due to my recent house move and the MW said there was nothings he could do until I 'appear'. I'm just desperate to hear a heartbeat so that I can relax a bit. I have a good friend who was told ather 12 week scan that the pg wasn't viable and had to have a d&C and I'm pretty spooked about it all.

Not sure if this feedback is helpful for anyone but I'm having a scan at "this clinic essexultrasound.co.uk/index.html" in Essex as it was recommended by a friend and when i called and to book the receptionist asked how many weeks I was and I explained the possible week discrepancy (part of my desire for an early scan) and she said that I would be charged £90 not £70 for a scan as I would be over 10 weeks. I did point out that I am not at all confident of dates so could be under 10 weeks and she said it would still be £90. Confused This probably makes me sound dishonest but if this change in pricing structure had been advertised on their website I would have lied and said I was 8 weeks and then acted surprised to find out I was in fact a little bit further along - I assume they don't demand more money if they find out in the scan that you have your dates wrong?!

itsTwiiiiitmaaaaasss · 10/12/2010 10:31

I too have needed a mcdonalds recently... strange. I don't drink much normally, but have had a bit of red wine at sunday lunch and will have a bit at christmas if I feel like it. I really want a prawn sandwich, I might try one if it gets really bad. I eat peanut butter like mad on toast, but as I pretty much go off all meat its a good source of protein.
If I wanted it I'd eat ham etc - I thought it was onlt advised against in USA? The mekted blue cheese sounds looooovveely. That's the one thing I always miss - cheese.
I phoned the doctors and had a very confusing conversation with a new receptionist - who took my phone number etc and said she'd let the mw know. That was mon or tues (I forget) and still nothing. Now that I've made contact I ant to get this over with and get a scan date. Xmas Blush
Has anyone else got a weird feeling at the back of their mouths? There can be a weird taste as well.
I too have had fluttery feelings, that if I didnt know better..... but no, I'm sure its just the equivalent of when your eye gets a twitch IYKWIM?

Congrats on the positive scans, its very festive to have a shiny bit - I admire that sort of dedication.Xmas Grin

itsTwiiiiitmaaaaasss · 10/12/2010 10:34

Oh, and I nearly burst into tears when dh brought home SMOOTH peanut butter. tsk (surely he knows better by now? Xmas Wink )

inbetweener · 10/12/2010 10:58

Morning all,
stangirl dont be silly. You have a perfect right to be happy and loved up Envy I'm being a right moody mare just lately. I had a bad dream last night and ended up crying my eyes out this morning. It was made worse by the fact that DH slept on the sofa last night because apparently I was being " moody " and moaning about him cooking garlic chicken at 8 at night !! I just cant bear smells at the mo. Im sooo not used to this constant nausea. I used to think that women were being over dramatic about it cos i sailed through my last 2 pg's but I guess thats come back to bite me huh !!

Oh peanut butter on taost !!!!! Now that sounds yummy !!!! I could eat that now !! Ive got a cheese and tomato roll in my desk for lunchtime but thats just not the same is it !!
