Due July 2011?

MadAboutTheBoys · 24/10/2010 07:42

Just got my BFP this morning and so excited! Managed this conception while DH was out of the country so very chuffed that it worked! Already have two DS, one who is 3.2 and an August birthday and one who is 16 months and a June birthday so bring on the Summer parties!

Have never been part of an antenatal club on here before but as this is planned to be my last pregnancy am hoping to find some other July mums to share the journey with (although know I am very early!) Am already worrying how the birth will go as DS2 was born unexpectedly in the kitchen after a 90 min labour with the midwife only just there to catch him, so am a bit worried if subsequent labours are supposed to go quicker whether I will have anyone with me for this one, but at least I have a while to go yet!

OP posts:

Riddzy · 24/11/2010 15:49

I must be a freak of nature because I feel fine (don't hate me). Want to eat cake and biscuits constantly but I'm wondering if I'm using the pregnancy as an excuse?

MissLolita: thanks for the welcome! My friend told me that when she was about 10 weeks she went to the early pregnancy unit (I think that was in Tooting) because she was worried about bleeding. They did a scan right there and then - if you are worried perhaps you could see if the hospital near you has one? Then you won't be lumbered with the extra cost.

pregnancyno4 · 24/11/2010 16:28

also have 3 boys nicolamumof3 would like a girl this time but dont really mind either way.

nicolamumof3 · 24/11/2010 16:45

i don't really mind either way tbh. I think im expecting a boy tho if im honest. Im all geared up for them now!! Smile I just want to feel better so i can enjoy my pg and look after the ones i've got im really struggling.

Gleeb · 24/11/2010 17:08

Evening all, had a very boring appointment with the practice nurse last week. Just had to fill in three forms with seemingly the same information (so very 2010) and wait for the date of my nuchal scan to come through. Apparently you don't see a midwife until 16 weeks. She told me to get the machine in reception to take my weight and BP, reminded me to take my prenatal folic acid and that was about it!

13 or so weeks seems to be a long time to wait and just assume everything is OK but I suppose women managed in the old days Wink

pregnancyno4 · 24/11/2010 19:44

yh i now what you mean nicolamumof3 its all i can do 2 drag myself out of bed in the mornings to take my eldest 2 too school. with the hubby working 9 til 5 everyday im constantly run of my feet

jus want 2 scream im so tired

emmywoo · 24/11/2010 20:02

hi all, thanks for your messages, feel so much better today. Did get a little excited as boobs have been really painful today so was rather pleased to have some symptoms, it was either that or I have shrunk my bra in tumble dryer!!!!
Midwifry care is so different depending on where you live, where I am you dont get to see a doctor, you have to fill in a form and wait for midwife to contact you, the waiting is killing me!!
xxxxx

nicolamumof3 · 24/11/2010 20:30

Taken my meds no longer feel sick ate dinner, fab but am now like a zombie good old side effects !!

tebbles · 24/11/2010 21:22

Hello everyone! Can't believe it has been a month since my BFP! All my sympathies are with those who are feeling ill.

Fortunately I have so far managed to avoid feeling too sick. Have had a few bouts of nausea but have identified triggers and have DH helping out with washing all dirty dishes and changing bin liners, so I have managed to get this under control. Other than that I have just been more tired and hungry than usual.

One thing that is different from most of you is that my boobs are exactly the same as usual-both feeling and size! Although I have to admit they have never really changed size, at both size 6 and size 10. Will have to see if anything happens to them. My stomach is definitly growing although is is probably becasue I am eating more!

I have my booking appointment next week so hopefully will get my date for a scan a couple of weeks after that.

Smiler80 · 25/11/2010 08:12

Hello everyone,

It seems antenatal care is very different depending on where you are. When I went to my GP a couple of days after my BFP, she helped me choose a hospital and they immediately booked me in for 3 midwife appointments (first of which at 10 weeks) and phoned the hospital then and there for the 12-week scan. It's on the 23rd of December.

Sounds like I'm lucky - they're very organised at my doctors' practice.

hefner · 25/11/2010 10:08

Hi everyone,

Smiler I wish my GP practice was as organised as yours! I'm waiting to hear from the midwives at the moment and I can't wait to get my first appointment booked in, I think that will make it all feel more real.

I'm starting to feel really sick now, although I can usually control it by eating whatever I fancy and drinking ginger beer. Nicola, hope your meds kick in soon and make you feel a bit better, it must be rubbish feeling so ill especially with kids to look after.

nicolamumof3 · 25/11/2010 10:26

morning all. Meds are working, in that i don't feel too sick, and can now at least eat when i start to feel sick, whereas before any food or drink made me gag. I feel a bit drowsy but prefer this over the sickness. Just taking things easy and doing essential stuff really. The world won't end if my floors aren't mopped everyday!!

Ivegotmrbitey · 25/11/2010 12:22

Hi all, my visit to the GP was a bit disapointing. He was very nice but said I was there too early and to ring back in 3 to 5 weeks to be referred to midwife. Apart from checking that I have been taking folic acid he didn't advise me about anything else. I then assumed it is policy to try and save resources by not referring people too early in case they don't stay pregnant and cried all night. I have pulled myself together now but still feel a bit wobbly. The good news is that I still feel tired, faint, have sore boobs and am on the edge of feeling queasy. If I didn't know I was pregnant I would be worried that I was really ill!

Twit · 25/11/2010 12:24

nicola I'm glad your meds are 'helping' lol.
I too look pregnant due to copious eating, I normally can't eat gluten but when I'm pregnant I can so... Blush
I will def have to visit bravissimo, am normally 32 GG/H and have changed to 34 G/GG already Blush again.
I am constantly in leggings and tunics atm, I hope they will still be in fashion next season lol.
I still haven't phoned the mw, I can't quite bring myself to.
Hulla I'm very interested in your comments re home birth, I've had two and enjoyed it, but am worried as last time ds3 came out with his hand on his cheek and tore me. (sorry tmi) I dond't think I was as bad as you, but it definately hasn't felt quite the same since. I was all set to opt for hospital, as I am worried about tearing worse this time, but maybe now I'll talk it through with my MW (eventually)

I have finally got my prenancy vitamins so it looks like I've accepted this new situation. Smile DH has already told me his choice of names. Confused They were girls names though as we have run out of boys names (3 boys and 1 girl already) Hmm

Finally, is it me or might this be the biggest thread ever? I was on one before which was quite big I believe, but this seem to just keep growing. What on earth made october such a 'fertile' Wink month?

Badgerwife · 25/11/2010 12:38

Hi all!

I got a BFP 2 days ago and it's my first baby, woohoo! According to my calculations, I'm 5 weeks in and due July 28th so I just about make this thread!

I was very excited until the nausea kicked in with wonderful timing from lunchtime onwards. I'm seeing the GP next Friday, hopefully he'll give me something, otherwise i'm going to have to survive on half a bowl of porridge a day at this rate...

Twit · 25/11/2010 12:39

mrbitey I'm sorry to hear you're a bit low. I don't think it is because he expects alot of pregnancies to not make 12 weeks (or whatever)it's just there's not alot he can do unless you have/ have had problems.
Looking on the brightside, it's good that he sees no reason to have needed to do anything?
Smile

Ivegotmrbitey · 25/11/2010 12:57

Thanks twit I blame the hormones! On Saturday it will be a week since the BFP and I'm hoping that I may calm down a bit then, as I can't stay this anxious for eight months.

Hello badgerwife you're the day after me and this is my first go too! CongratulationsSmile

What on earth happened in October? I don't recall it being a particularly cold month! There were five weekends in October though Wink

MissLolita · 25/11/2010 13:05

Congratulations and welcome Badgerwife! Hello everyone else, hope you're all feeling ok?

Thanks for the scan link notnearlyasblond, it seems to be the cheapest. Also, great news about maternity pay! Smiler I am v jealous that you have already got dates etc - it would take a lot of stress out of the situation if every surgery was like that.

Riddzy I think that epu's are for people who have something wrong with them - I have just got to the stage where I just desperately want to know everything is ok. Do they see people who are just in a bit of a tizz?!

I think I am doubly concious because quite recently a friend got to 12 weeks with no-mishaps and had the scan only to be told that it wasn't viable then and she had to have a d&C termination. I am just desperate for some reassurance that everything is ok so far so that I can relax a tiny bit more. I keep trying to be rational and I know that statistics are on my side and that knowing now will not actually have an impact on whether the pg is ultimately successful but I think it would make me feel alot more in control and happy. Right now £75 looks cheap to just know whether there's a heartbeat or not...I am focussed on making it to next Wednesday's m/w apt which will be 9+2 and if she can give me a timeframe for a scan that will probably make me a bit more relaxed. I have struck a deal with dh that if we have no scan date this side of Christmas we will go for a private scan. It will have to be a joint Christmas present to ourselves :)

Mrbitey I agree with Twit - I guess no reason to do anything is good!????

MissLolita · 25/11/2010 13:13

I'm wondering how many people in RL will work out it's our wedding anniversary in October...we have a standing joke amongst our friends that everything changes when you get married and that it becomes birthdays, anniversarys and Christmas only....Wink

LadyGoneGaga · 25/11/2010 13:46

Hi Badgerwife - you're due same day as me! Make sure you add yourself to the stats when you get a mo.

I have a private scan now organised at 8.5 weeks, 5 days before Xmas. Will be £60 but after the mc I just want to know things are developing ok. I onoly got to 7 weeks last time before i started bleeding so that feels like a milestone to me. I've got an acupuncture session on Monday anyway so hopefully she can help reassure me a bit too.

Twit am loving that tunics and leggings are in - perfect preggo gear. But DS was a May baby which means the bulk of my maternity clothes were winter - going to have to invest in some summer stuff for right at the end when we are HUGE.

nicolamumof3 · 25/11/2010 13:51

next linen trousers and long vest tops..are fab! i lived in these with ds3 he was also a july baby.

squirrel007 · 25/11/2010 14:10

Hi all! I think that time has slowed massively since my bfp - all this waiting around is very hard to do! I have at least seen the midwife and have a scan date (before Xmas, hooray!) but I just feel like I'm waiting to hear that everything's ok.

Have also been a bit worried that my pg symptoms come and go, but google says this is normal so perhaps I should just enjoy the good days! My stomach is growing too, I think from too much food, and I'm going to need some new clothes soon. Especially at work where my trousers are just starting to feel uncomfortably tight.

It's definitely reassuring to hear that everyone here has different symptoms.

wolfhound · 25/11/2010 14:18

I'm due 9th July. Feeling exhausted, sick and generally rubbish, though very pleased. Not getting much sleep at the moment, as DS2 (16 months) still not a good sleeper, and won't have anyone but me when he wakes up. Poor dear doesn't know what's looming ahead....

Twit · 25/11/2010 14:19

ladygonegaga I remember with ds2 (also July) wafting around in (very unflattering) dress, but it was sooo comfortable! Maybe I could get away with a maxi dress this year despite being average height? I'd need to cover up though in the sun, which might help make it look less tent like Hmm

You can be sure that it will be hot next summer, just for us...

Pennyly · 25/11/2010 14:21

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to add myself to the stats and say congratulations to everyone.

I'm alternating between working and sleeping at the moment with not much else in between apart from feeling nauseous. Is everybody else desperate to be able to tell people? I'm running out of lame excuses for not drinking or doing any of my usual mildly hazardous activities such as climbing. But these are good things to be worrying about after spending 6 months thinking it wasn't going to happen...
