New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CupcakesHay · 07/01/2011 00:00

rock i've just had mini-row with parents - bearing in mind time. but i'm STARVING tonight..... so just eaten 2 crumpets (to be fair could eat another two) and they just told me off for being "piggish" - I really had to bite bloody tongue. (noramlly never anything like this happening with parents!)

I mean, I'm eating normally but every now and then I have one of those days when i could eat for england! Anyhow - going to sneak a boost out of hospital bag and eat it in my room like a teenager!

So rock - my advice EAT the rice krispies and the chocolates!!!!

As for pubic bone thing - could be SPD - ladybuzz is expert - hopefully just nothing - and you'll wake up fine tomorrow.

God - why am I so hungry today????

if i was in my own home, i'd be having more crumpets! Wish they had a pig emoticon!!

Also trying to debate my "stinky" meal next week - do i make a meal from scratch-ish with one of those stir in sauces - therefore including lots of veg and making it healthy - or do i just get take away?

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 07:52

I've had SPD with each pregnancy and it's a bugger. The main things not to do to aggravate it are to keep your legs together :o - so when getting in and out of cars/bed, climbing into trousers/tights/socks etc that you keep your legs closed and not apart wherever possible (DH has to help me dress sometimes Blush) and if you can, put a pillow between your legs while sleeping to keep your legs in line with your hips.

Also try not to lift anything heavy (including your DD :( )

Crystylline · 07/01/2011 09:16

am now getting cross!

Woken up all out of sorts again and can't work out if I dreamed that I had a huge contraction in the middle of the night, or if I really did, or if it was grouchy BH.

am horribly anxious and can't settle and have been charging about since 7am doing silly little tidy up things that actually make no difference whatsoever.

bah, not sure I like the last few weeks of pregnancy/being on maternity leave.

I feel a bit purposeless and useless as a result.

anyone else felt like this? Do i need a project? Suggestions welcome as to how I can get rid of this feeling, it's awful.

Sorry for the morning grumps all.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 09:28

pooh - sounds like Not A Lot Of Fun crystyll though I imagine you'd know if it was one massive BH or not - contractions though are not things you can sleep through!

Do feel like this sometimes. Woke up cross that I was still pregnant and baby hadn't decided to come and play yet, despite begging it to.

If you need a project, have you considered the cleanliness of your teaspoons? :o :o

Seriously though, I write lists of things I need/want to do then get around to ticking them or ignoring them when I realise they weren't important. That reminds me, DD1 wet her bed again and have left the pile of washing next to rather than in the washing machine. That don't work do it?! Hmm

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 09:34

Advice from babycentre came through today for you crystyll Take it easy during the final week or so ? this may be your last opportunity to relax. Instead of spending every available minute decorating the nursery or folding baby clothes, go out and see a film, read a book or take long naps. Don't forget to spend some quality time with your partner too ? it will probably be your last chance to have an evening out together for a while.

Hmm
Crystylline · 07/01/2011 09:35

lol. I'm sure the curtains need hoovering! Grin
I know I'm being silly, but blimey it's hard pulling myself together today.

I think a list maybe a good thing! used to doing that daily at work, so might help to relax me in a weird way...

hmmmm...
just wrote the list. it's a bit dull, but nvm, i now have 14 things to do - let's see how long that distracts me!

and yes, washing does clean much better in the machine, but mine does insist on staring at it for a very long time before taking the plunge. Smile

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 09:36

quite useful advice

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 09:41

What's on your list then? Maybe I can nick some ideas - was going to crack on withthe cushions, but decided I'm going to give zips a go but need to go out and buy some, but it's absolutely pissing it down and I'm still in my pyjamas!

btw, LadyBuzz Fuzzy and Rock (and anyone else who isn't a first time mum) are you getting presents from the baby to your DCs?? Seen it suggested but hadn't thought about it tbh...

RunningKatie · 07/01/2011 09:47

Morning all

6 spoons of gaviscon in the night, a personal best in this household. It's snowing now too and my Mum's supposed to be coming up to drag me out for coffee.

Someone asked me about my platelets count yesterday, and I remembered in the night I didn't answer. There's nothing that they can do, they'll monitor it to see if it is continuing to drop and inform the hospital. Essentially it's more of a problem if I have to have a CS as my blood isn't clotting as well as it should, and also they'd have to be more careful if I need an epidural - which I'd kind of hoped they would be anyway!

Yep, wedding and baby this year, wedding is pencilled in for Nov 6th - got to book registrar now. You'll be glad to know we decided not to move house too, that's saved for 2012. Grin

I really need to make up the moses basket, DP is also fretting about the car seat so going to fit that this weekend. Other than that my list of tasks is supremely dull and not as much fun as eating chocolate and watching the telly. Wink Although, this morning I'm progressing from cleaning teaspoons to the shower soap tray. I wonder if I could post photos on FB to amaze my friends with?!

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/01/2011 09:53

Agh I think the present idea sounds lovely bubba. An excuse to go shopping anyway :)

It is absolutely pouring down where I am so looks like another day in my nightie as can't be arsed to get dressed and go out.

My friend had her baby boy at 4 this morning by emergency c section having been induced earlier. He weighs a healthy 8 pounds 7. Very excited for her and want to pop out and buy a card. Also want to see pictures so keep checking facebook.

It has now sent me on a frenzy looking at names as by pure coincidence we both picked the same boys name but because she has had hers first it is always going to seem like I copied even though I told her first if that makes sense. Anyway, I might have a girl so I shouldn't get too stressed and I think I will stick with the name but need a nice middle name too.

Okay, back to Jeremy Kyle and one thing on my list of things to do is clean the bathroom... Joy!

Crystylline · 07/01/2011 10:06

thanks bubba!

on the list:

take the bins out - just done that!
build flat pack furniture... hum, that's been waiting since yesterday
clean the bathroom - like salt!
go to the bank
do baby clothes/reusable nappy laundry
hoovering - pesky bits of christmas tree stuck in the carpet still attacking me

and a few other equally trivial things!

I like the babycentre link - thanks. I'll read that through - esp. the water birth bit.

Has anyone had a water birth? if so, what did you think, more comfortable?

i did baby names awhile ago, as i knew I was having a boy. i chose his first name and asked my parents to choose his middle names. I really hope he looks like his name, or I'm going to be a bit flummoxed!

haven't even thought about car seat yet, but as it's unlikely i'll be driving, prob not much point in fitting it in my car just yet.

Crystylline · 07/01/2011 10:08

oh grats about the wedding katie! sounds wonderful - and you'll have a perfect page boy/flower girl in time as well.

RockLover · 07/01/2011 10:13

Morning ladies.

Haven't heard from the midwife yet and there is no point in phoning them as they NEVER answer their phone anyway. I am hoping against hope that I will finally get my appt today, but I'm not holding my breath.

I need to have a shower, but I'm holding off in case I miss a phone call from the mw (house phone and mobile don't work in our bathroom because we have crap reception here), so I feel minging lol.

I am fecking knackered from waking up every hour or so to pee last night and dd came in to our room after having a bad dream (very rare for her to ever wake during the night). Plus I am still hobbling about, my back and pubic bone seem to be getting more painful by the day!

Ladybubba, yes I will be getting dd something small from the baby, but haven't quite decided what yet. I will order it online I think, I just don't feel up to wandering about the shops anymore, too uncomfortable and nauseous. Bleugh.

I did loads of baby ironing yesterday (nearly killed my back and tummy by sitting on a stool for too long) and today I don't feel fit for anything other than dozing on the sofa. I really don't remember being this knackered with dd and I had to walk everywhere then as I didn't drive! I must just be too old for all this lol. Grin

Pootle78 · 07/01/2011 10:37

Back from the hospital, in and out in a total of 14 mins from parking the car and leaving the car park and costing us £2.50 for the privilege cause we couldn't find a 20 min space but the good news is baby is head down and in the right position - yay (good little baby pootle proved your daddy wrong and is now on for a big present and cuddle from him as he has been telling everyone baby doesn't know it's arse from it's elbow!)

Another one that is knackered! Is there anything like nitol I can take? Been waking up at 2am and not getting back to sleep til 6ish and it's nearly killing me to the point I burst into tears sat on the toilet earlier and hubby was trying to cuddle me mid wee!

The plumber is now here so have no water and no heating need to sleep and want to cry, this is not a good day and will be having a wo is me day, if anyone has funny stories please entertain me!

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 10:37

Seriously ladies - Step Away From The Iron Confused otherwise you and I will have to part company. It's a medieval form of torture. Fact.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 10:38

awww, bless your DH for trying to cuddle you mid-wee pootle

no funny stories, but the link I posted to a couple of days ago made me giggle as does the willy thread

Pootle78 · 07/01/2011 10:44

And now the banging in the bathroom has caused plaster to fall off ceiling in lounge :(

I did like the dear bump thread

saltnvinigarcrips · 07/01/2011 10:46

what willy thread?

ZippyPippy · 07/01/2011 10:46

rock - we got the cadburys biscuit selection for Christmas too and I pretty much ate the whole lot, I think DH had about 2 - they were amazing, I was bereft too when they ran out Grin. Glad you are feeling a bit better, I have an achy pubic area too but am putting it down to the fact the baby's head has engaged and there is extra pressure down there...

cupcakes love the thought of you hiding in your bedroom last night eating a boost, just ignore parents, you are a pregnant lady you can eat what and when you like!!

crysty sorry you are feeling so crappy, just try and relax, watch rubbish on tv and read, these days of doing nothing are very precious and will be gone before we know it!!

Congrats on the wedding date running very exciting Smile

RockLover · 07/01/2011 10:49

Update!! Have mw coming round between 11.30 & 12pm, hurrah. I've even managed to have my shower, just need to get dressed again now.

Pity I still feel like shite though. Oh well, a girl can't have everything her way now can she?

LadyBubbaAndBump · 07/01/2011 10:55

willy thread

Crystylline · 07/01/2011 11:11

rock woo hoo! hope it all goes well and well done for standing your ground.

and the willy thread is hilarious. However, it suddenly made me realise how much my world is going to change and what I'm going to have to deal with, with a little boy on the way.

I'm not a religious person, but some of the comments put the fear of god into to me!

I'll never be able to look at a DVD in the same way...

CupcakesHay · 07/01/2011 12:38

Going to look at the willy thread in a minute - but yeah I'm thinking the same alreeady crysty about having a little boy!

Just come back from something that should have been a 15 minute stroll up our local high street - but has taken me at least 30-40 minutes. It was soooooo painful cos of my hip and I'm sooooooo slow! So going to sit here and catch up a little bit on computer and then rest on sofa!

Looking forward to hearing something positive coming out of you m/w meeting rock

And you lot are MAD for nesting aren't you! Grin

Now - question for already mum's: my moses mattress came today (hurrah!) - and my mum said - do you need a rubber sheet or something in case baby's nappy leaks at night.... so do i? Confused

And pleased running that the wedding date is a little bit off!

PS. Boost was lovely last night - def tastier for being a decadent sneaky snack! Smile

pootle - it's only going to get better from here - promise! The plumber's sorting out your probs, and baby is in right place - so all looking good now. And i love your DH too for the wee-cuddle!

Crystylline · 07/01/2011 13:34

4 items done on the to do list... but (!!!) can't find my screwdriver anywhere, so can't build sodding furniture. It's all laid out in the lounge like some cruel Ikea assault course, but I can't put it together. Harumph.

pootle you sound like you're having a tough day. hugs (hopefully you're not reaidng this on the loo...)

cupcakes - i asked the same question about moses basket, but figured that the mattress is made of foam and can be washed easily and i can always put on two sheets for little spills. also couldn't find any waterproof covers for moses basket mattresses anywhere,so presumed they weren't used/needed.

thanks for the symp zippy. it was food i needed and a little bit of activity. feeling much better now.

and you're all absolutely right - the sofa, b&w movies and chocolate are the way forward x

CupcakesHay · 07/01/2011 13:52

crystylline can you borrow screw driver from neighbour - seems a wate when you're so eager!

Just eaten whole bag of mini-eggs Biscuit - never seems to be as many in there as you think there should be!

Ok - on the mattress front - what about when he's in a cot? Mothercare have some:
www.mothercare.com/s?Action=submit&rh=n%3A42764041&field-keywords=waterproof+sheet

But not sure if i can be bothered to buy them - or if it'll be a waste of money Hmm

bubba/ladybuzz/rock/mums - advice on waterproof sheets please?
