New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

LadyBubbaAndBump · 01/01/2011 16:49

Happy New Year all and bumps. I failed to see the new year in - first time since forever I think!

I've had two curries over the past two days, have persuaded my DH to have sex Xmas Grin Xmas Blush (TMI?) as I want this baby out now >>big fat fed up emoticon

LadyBubbaAndBump · 01/01/2011 16:54

lol @ "noisy women in labour" crystylline - I got really fed up with the other women on the ward last time (they locked me in for 11 days in total - 8 before baby was born and 3 after) - blinking noisy lot!!

Just seen your post flora - glad the trumpets are playing for you. Fingers (and legs?) crossed that tinyflora stays put for a bit for you :)

FloraPost · 01/01/2011 17:53

Thanks Bubba, although the trumpets were more for not being allowed to exceed due date - I very want this over with. 11 days in hospital sounds like hell on toast.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 01/01/2011 18:41

It was hell on toast (I'm nicking that expression), but the mash was just lovely!! Xmas Hmm

Sorry, thought the trumpets were for not being monitored every day. Bit dozy. Bit blonde Xmas Grin

FloraPost · 01/01/2011 19:39

Hmm blonde (ponders)...maybe if I was blonde the chap-like hair sprouting on my belly wouldn't look as revolting. DP almost soiled himself laughing when he caught me shaving my tum in the shower Blush.

Crystylline · 01/01/2011 19:49

Tee hee! I shaved my tum yesterday too!

Sprouting ginger hair on my stomach is one of my least attractive pregnancy bits...

LadyBubbaAndBump · 01/01/2011 19:56

Can't believe you're shaving it you two!! Xmas Grin I quite like the bumfluff on my tum - it is very blonde though and thin, so just like a little furry blanket - and it does go afterwards - promise!! (it's also a good distraction from all my stretch marks Xmas Sad)

I've just made the baby's bed up!!!! Come on baby, come and play soon!!! Xmas Smile

saltnvinigarcrips · 01/01/2011 20:29

Happy New Year everyone. Been away visiting my crazy family and then my in-laws so not had access to internet except through my very nice new phone. I managed to stay up late last night but feel rotten today. Have a horrible cold at the minute which is not helping my general mood. I really don't know how I can handle another 3 weeks let alone potentially 5!!!! Think I'm ready to go now but then i'm a first timer so no idea.

I never even realised about the belly button fluff until I looked at my under belly in the mirror the other day. I'm quite fair so I think its quite cute and i'm definitely not a shaver!!! Which reminds me I need to book a wax asap as bum fluff is definitely not cute (sorry tmi).
Anyway hope everyone has a great 2011 and now I guess it's just a case of waiting to see who gives birth first. Ooh how exciting . . .

ZippyPippy · 01/01/2011 21:31

Happy new year all!! Very exciting that 2011 is here and soon will our babies too Xmas Grin. I was tucked up in bed by 11pm last night - very impressed by those of you that stayed up!!

Sorry to hear about all the monitoring flora and crysty keep us posted.

CupcakesHay · 02/01/2011 01:27

OMIGOD - I leave you lot for 5 mins and you all go crazy on me!!!!

Well - I pulled another f-ing muscle tonight AngryAngryAngry - so my baby is not coming out until i'm over all this stupid illness - so i'm going to be last. I told the baby he's not being born til 1st feb. I'm soooooo sick of being sick! I was normal once wasn't i?

My money's on crystylline having baby first then tinyflora making an appearance.

Love the fact you made the honors list bubba! Grin

Love the TMI bubba and just jealous Envy as no chance of that til 26th Jan for me - well - unless i pull a random stranger. ha ha! Wink

nice to see you back salt and hope your new phone is lovely! Poor you on cold front - i can sympathise.

Love the talk of shaving - quite frankly i'm pleased i put nail polish on my toes the other day - as I really can't see me being able to bend for another week due to stupid muscle. So shaving's just not going to happen! Is it true they take your nail varnish off for a c-section? And if so why???

Wish i could blink and it would be february!

FloraPost · 02/01/2011 06:18

You did what, Cupcakes?! How on earth can you reach your toes at this time, or even aim the brush Envy? Toe painting is more than I have asked DP to undertake; the poor lamb is quite intimidated by this new world of feminine maintenance he has been thrust into. He does a pretty good leg wax though.

I think they do like you to take polish off for a section - the nail beds are used to check how well oxygenated the limbs are under anaesthetic. When I had my laparoscopy the nurses were griping about how many patients had painted or false nails so they couldn't check.

LadyBuzz · 02/01/2011 09:25

cupcakes poor you, and I second what Flora said How on earth are you reaching your toes, I'm double jointed and I can't get to mine any more!!

They do make you take you take nail polish and falsies off for theatre, they also make you remove all jewellery etc, they will love me this time round I have 4 piercings that there is no way I can take out so I will be off to theatre covered in blue plasters Grin I have no idea why its not like any of them are any where near where I will be cut Hmm

Pootle78 · 02/01/2011 09:43

Ok, I'll ask the question that everyone is thinking

lady where are your piercing's that can't be removed? [Confused]

Still haven't packed my bag, the thought was there! And maybe conceding to get mil to sort the kitchen (she has serious ocd and has been dying to get her hands on our house since her first precious born moved in nearly 7 years ago (not that I have 7 years of tidying that needs doing!)

Crystylline · 02/01/2011 10:57

toes? I have toes?

Where? I haven't seen these appendages for a few months now... Grin

pootle I need to re-pack my bag today, as I used it and the contents when I went to my folks last week... very naughty of me.

trying to work up the motivation to do the laundry today and pondering whether to take down the xmas decorations.

...might just eat some more toast and lounge about a bit.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 02/01/2011 11:42

I was once a quadruple-jointed acrobat and so managed last month to finally rid my toes of the remanants of nail varnish from about five zillion years ago just in case the ELC was looming. Did my fingernails instead in a pathetic attempt to look glam! Had an attempt at de-fuzzing down below today, but at the risk of giving myself a premature C-S I stopped pretty smartish!!

Yes LadyB where are your piercings and would they have hurt baby on the way out if you weren't going for a C-S? Xmas Hmm Xmas Blush [frin]

Maternity leave started officially yesterday, so I bought myself some squirty cream - not for rudies but for all my self-indulgent hot chocs I'll be making myself once the family bugger off to earn some money and give me some peace! Xmas Grin

Pack the bag pootle!! It'll only come now if you don't!

LadyBuzz · 02/01/2011 11:42

pootle nowhere like that GrinGrin
I have tunnels in my ears that will close if I take them out, 1 in the top of my ear that I just can't do myself (too much hassle) and a microdermal implant which doesn't come out in my chest - I had 4 but they didn't like me being pg and I had to have them out Sad

My xmas decs are down and I have my living room back Grin

LadyBubbaAndBump · 02/01/2011 12:10

How do microdermal implants stay in LadyB? >>nosey emoticon

Crystylline · 02/01/2011 12:30

ok, so i've been doing some very important research wasting time to avoid doing laundry and discovered there's practically no such thing as vegetarian formula for babies, as all of it contains sodding fish!!

so F angry. Why do they need to put fish in babies' milk in the first place?

I bloody hope I'm a brilliant, genius-like breastfeeding mum, because otherwise I have no idea what to do.

ah, piercings... wish i still had mine sometimes, but took them all out years ago when I discovered it was impossible/v. tricky to get a "serious" (whatever that is) job with a face full of metal. so glad that most people don't seem to be so haughty about it now.

and v. intrigued by microdermal implants... think they look very pretty.

LadyBuzz · 02/01/2011 13:28

They are pierced just under the surface of the skin and have a long foot which holds them in place, then the top screws into a pin which sticks out of the top of the foot (where the skin heals around it). I do love them and will probably replace some of them after my hormones have settled down.

CupcakesHay · 02/01/2011 15:51

Wow - on the piercings - we were all thinking a bit differently i think!

I slept leaning on the dining room table last night - think I got 3 hours sleep! Stupid pulled muscle!

As for the toes - well, being a big girl, always had a bit of a bump, before the bump IYSWIM so kind of used to it - but 2 things helped - I got loads of nails inc for Xmas and also I waited til baby was in certain position! plus i used glittery so the mistakes aren't as obvious. And if i end up having C-Section - i'll let them worry about taking it off!

crysty - i've never really thought about vegetarian formula - but I reckon it'll be fine and you'll be able to b-feed perfectly. Positive thinking.

And as for you miss pootle get that bag packed! I feel so much better with mine ready to go - even though I have another 4 weeks yet (PLEASE!). And i'd beg you MIL to come round with her OCD and get organising!

I decided last night, if i went into labour with this pulled muscle, i don;t think I could actually give birth normally! I can't cough without crying in agony let alone try and give birth! I even thought i'd rather c-section than this!

bubba can you come and make me some hot choc please???

I'm so lucky my parents are fab - they've been nursing me so well! Hate feeling like this.

ZippyPippy · 02/01/2011 17:40

Poor you cupcakes you are having a rough time of it Xmas Sad I hope your pulled muscle heals up quick - but at least you can paint your toe nails, I also can't get down there for anything (never could touch my toes very well anyway!!) Had to get DH to cut my toenails the other night, I was explaining to him what a pedicure is like when they massage your feet and give you a nice 'experience' but he wasn't having any of it and just huffed and puffed at having to do it.

I also want this baby to stay in as long as possible, I want to enjoy a few restful work free weeks, feels like my last ever chance to just be lazy!! I won't be trying to get baby moving along like impatient bubba Xmas Grin

RunningKatie · 02/01/2011 17:57

hello all

Wow, you've been nattering!

Flora - I've managed to miss all the worry about you being monitored, when's your due date? Good news if they won't let you go over though.
Cupcakes - get well soon.

Baby has been quiet today, we went out for my Mum's bday lunch and I think it's somewhat scared by the noise my sisters 3 kids can make. Will mention to the midwife on Weds if I don't get good wriggles tomorrow or Tues.

I feel like my maternity leave is finally starting, DP starts back at work on Tues., so I'm planning a swim and coffee at the gym. Then Weds is aquanatal, midwife and then coffee with the NCT ladies. We're all going to each others houses which I'm a bit terrified about as I'm sure some of them have mahoosive houses and we're in a little 2 bed semi.

Can't believe 2011 is here and it's January, it's going to all kick off sooner or later! Grin

Pootle78 · 02/01/2011 18:02

Note to self, warning to others ...

When washing new baby clothes, remember to take out the cardboard bit inbetween the vests otherwise it makes a bl*dy mess of the washing machine and the clothes that were in it. Just taken me an hour to sort out the problem it's caused, bl*dy baby brain!

Still not packed, think I'm in denial, if I don't do it then labour won't happen and then there'll be no pain - well that's my logic and I'm sticking with it!

Thanks for the details of the piercing's lady can't repeat some of the suggestions dh was coming up with Blush

LadyBubbaAndBump · 02/01/2011 18:04

I still want it to be sooner rather than later RunningK and Zippy - I am so impatient!! :) If you're at all worried about less wriggling (though now they put on about 1/2 lb every week so have less room to squirm), but try chocolate, fizzy drinks or orange juice and a good nudge.

Your maternity plans sound good, although I remember the same kind of worry about the our 2-bed flat vs the humungous houses some of the NCT ladies lived in! Still have the same worries and laughs though, so not too much of a prob.

Just had friends over for Sunday lunch today, which was really nice and relaxed - DH and the other H played with the kiddies while my lovely friend and I just chatted, although feeling a bit guilty about being a uselessly tired non-chatterbox at the moment.

Soooooooo sleepy and awake since 3 this morning, but got to catch up on some crappy late night telly :)

LadyBubbaAndBump · 02/01/2011 18:06

Posting at the same time again pootle - you poor thing with the cardboard, but it has made me Grin!

Now Go And Pack woman!! Grin
