jjkm that's brilliant about the cradle and stroller. i bet they are getting big!

Any news on when you'll have them home? At least you are getting a chance to get everyting sorte before they come home!

I finally feel ready now to have baby tomorrow if it came to it! So pleased i finally got the car seat. Also ordered myself a pair of new button up PJs and a new dressing gown. My mum said "You're not planning to spend all day in your PJs are you?" (didn't have the heart to tell her yes!!!! Xmas Wink)

BubbaAndBump · 26/12/2010 14:37

2 mins of calm between the festive storms Xmas Wink - just enough to wish you all and your bumps/babies a very happy Christmas Xmas Smile

Happy boxing day all. Xmas Grin

Today we went to Mothercare and got a bouncing cradle/rocker thingy courtesy of my mum :)

DP is now making sure I pack my hospital bag and do all the things I failed to do when trying to finish work. The chuffers made me stay last on Christmas Eve to sort the phone system for them, and didn't get me a card or a present. Still, it means I'm not going to worry about them now!

4 weeks to go! Does anyone know if there's truth in the old wives tale about babies being late in families? My sisters 3 were all late, all 3 of us were, and my Mum and her brother were - so she keeps telling me I've got another 6 weeks which I find a bit annoying.

Well done on the shopping bargains Cupcakes and great news about the things for the twins jjkm.

BubbaAndBump · 26/12/2010 19:37

Poor you RunningKatie your work colleagues sound crap!! Not even a card is a bit tight!!

Re:lateness/on-timeness of babies, if you follow my family's babies (10 babies so far from me, my mum and my two sisters), there's been no pattern whatsover, so next time your mum says 6 weeks, say "yes mum, another six weeks, or possibly two weeks, or, in fact, anything between those time limits!" Xmas Grin Xmas Wink

I've now dyed my muslins, bought my maternity pads Xmas Sad and Father Christmas brought me a biscuit boost and a snickers, so both have gone into the hospital bag Xmas Grin. 1st DD I got through about 5 biscuit boosts (it was a long labour!), and lots of ribena - apparently most women don't eat in labour but I was staaaaarving throughout! Xmas Hmm

Almost bought a babygro on Christmas Eve that was appropriately coloured for the flavour we now know we're having, but resisted just in case!

LadyBuzz · 26/12/2010 21:10

Aww running how crap of your work,, still you are away from them now and can relax Xmas Grin
There is no pattern in our family either with late births so don't worry.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, we all enjoyed our day and my first Christmas dinner was a sucess - Yay!

I really really need to pack my bag - I will make it my priority tomorrow I think, DH is away until Tuesday morning working and the DSs are off to stayh with SIL tomorrow night - bliss!

I had a slight panic that the sonographer has our flavour wrong and we will have a poor confused DS3 dressed in pink!!! Xmas Grin

bubba hope you are feeling a bit happier then last week.

cupcake great news on the shopping bargains, hows the cold doing?

jjkm so pleased the girls are doing so well!

BubbaAndBump · 27/12/2010 11:52

Hey LadyB - I see you're a brazen January thread hussy! Xmas Shock Xmas Wink - I was being nosey and looking at name inspirations from December and other Jan thread and there you were, chatting away without so much as a hint of guilt to us late Januaryers!! Xmas Grin

ILs arrive today, so may be on ranting in a few hours. They're nice enough but drive me up the fecking wall!! And it means I should have to change out of my lovely Chrimble Jim-Jams Xmas Sad

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 27/12/2010 13:06

bubba what can I say? I'm a proper nosey cow Grin of course you know where my heart lies Xmas Wink

Good luck with the inlaws!

I think I might have gone deaf, the boys have just gone off for the night and DH is working. Bath and crap food for me today!

I have finally packed my bags (well almost) babys stuff is sorted and I only need some comfy clothes!

BubbaAndBump · 27/12/2010 13:36

Xmas Grin LadyB

Btw, do you think your SIL would want my two too? My ILs may follow them there though, so not such a bargain!

Enjoy your crappy food and bath day - crappy food while having a bath - even better! Xmas Hmm

I've finally sent emergency contact details to those we'll be relying on, and tried to explain to the DDs that if the baby decides to come in the middle of the night, we'll shove them in the car in their PJs and drop them at a bewildered friend/GPs - little one listened carefully and said "I want another present" - so I'm very pleased that the conversation went well Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

running sorry to hear your work were so totally rubbish, but just think of them all going back after Christmas ha ha ha.

I feel like it really is count down time now, very exciting!!

RockLovesMincePies · 27/12/2010 15:55

Hi, wondered if I could join at this late stage?

I am due on the 27th of Jan (DP's birthday) and I am so ready for this pregnancy to be over as I have felt sick for the entire 8 months so far.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

BubbaAndBump · 27/12/2010 16:20

Congrats on finishing work Zippy - it does def. mark the beginning of the countdown! Xmas Grin It's at this stage that I overanalyse every twinge and feeling and think this might be the start of it... go to bed full of excitement and wake up .... STILL pregnant! Harrumph Xmas Wink

Hey RockLovesMincePies, glad you made it over - and welcome! Lots of first time mums here and a few of us oldies (well, I'm not old but LadyBuzz is ancient Xmas Shock Xmas Wink

Just to keep you updated we've already had three early babies despite the title! Twin girls who were very, very well but doing well in SCBU and a little boy also still in SCBU I believe?

Maternity leaves have started, the mummies are fat, we're shopping and packing our way to some lovely little ones... Xmas Smile

OP posts:
BubbaAndBump · 27/12/2010 16:21

doh, I meant 'very, very early' not 'very, very well' although they are now doing well Xmas Smile

Grrr - wrote a long reply and accidently clicked on sideabar and lost it!

Anyhow... hello rock sorry you've been so ill with it. Let's hope you have an easy labour to make up for it.

Running your work drive me nuts! How selfish are they. Bet you couldn't wait to sprint out of the door on Xmas eve! Don't look back - well, not for another 6months!

zipy i'm the same as you - been eating LOADS -luckily my cold hasn't messed with my appetite!

My uber-cold is still awful. Xmas Sad My antibiotics run out tomorrow - not sure if they've had a great impact - the cough has stopped, but still mute (been a week now) and my throat keeps swelling so much that i get to the point where I gasp for breath! BRILL.
Off to Nurse for Strep B swab weds - and going to ask about my uber-cold - to see if it's worth giving e more antibiotics. hate making a fuss 0 but equally getting a bit nervous tha i've had this for 3 weeks now, and doesn't really seem like i'm shifting it - so starting to panic tha it might be hanging around in another 3 weeks time.

bubba how long are the ILs with you? Took my MIL back to station today - not sure if it was the fun Xmas she was expecting with me, my mu and dad all coughing and spluttering, but on the plus side, she finally realised why I said she couldn't stay here after birth - she understood the house s quite small and a bit of a nightmare with 4 people in it - let only 5 and a baby!

ladyb enjoy the peace- if only for a little while! Xmas Smile

I'm not doing my bag til i've finished this god-awful assignment. I'm really struggling - just so not into the stupid topic i picked - but nothing I can do about it now! Essay due 3rd jan - so bag's not being packed til I email it off! But even then, DH isn't back in UK til 21st, and not down in Devon til 26th - so I spoke to baby and told him he can't come til DH is here Biscuit!

All my flip nappies arrived - and all the liners and everything - all so pretty!

Went to next sale today Xmas Hmm and picked up few bits for DH and also a few outfits for baby boy for when he's 9-12m! Too cute and too cheap not to buy a few. And treated myself to paracetamol in boots!

Right - off to check out Toys R Us sale to see if there's anything i don't need!

LadyBuzz · 27/12/2010 18:16

thanks bubba Xmas ShockXmas Grin

Welcome rock sorry you have been feeling so crap. It will all be over soon!

I have just put away all of the Newborn clothes I have, If this LO is the same size as her brothers and grows as fast I honestly think that if I changed her 4 times a day we STILL wouldn't use all of the babygrows Xmas Shock I only bought 3, the rest have been given!
At least I won't have washing to worry about.

RockLovesMincePies · 27/12/2010 18:18

Well, this will be DC2 (and my bloody last), dd is 6 now and this baby is with my new partner.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm considered young or ancient in childbearing terms as I am 36 now. Although at the moment I feel about 80 lol!

Absolutely bloody terrified about giving birth though as I had a c-section last time round and I am trying for a VBAC this time. I never got to the pushing stage before, so I am very nervous about everything and just hoping for the best.

That said, I still want this little boy to come a tad early so that I can finish this hideous pregnancy!

RockLovesMincePies · 27/12/2010 18:21

Are you in Devon Cupcakes? If so whereabouts? I am in Devon too.

CupcakesHay · 27/12/2010 21:45

Ha ha - I have no resolve. After posting - started thinking about my hospital bag - and so pretty much packed it.

Although - what do i need for baby? how many baby grows? And i was going to take a blanket?

rock i'm from Kingsbridge (ish!) - i've just messaged you!

ladybuzz don't panic me about newborn Xmas Wink- do you mean "newborn" on the tag, or do you mean 0-3??? I'm so worried i'll have loads of baby clothes he won't fit into and then hardly anything for 3-6! I still think I haven't got enough babygrows, but my mum reckons I have so I figure if i haven't it'll be internet shopping in the middle of the night as I breast feed!

Pootle78 · 27/12/2010 22:10

Hello - am posting from my phone so this will be short aoe sweet! Hope e everyone had a good Christmas running I feel for you, thougt my managers were bad but at least the rest of the office made the effort!

Cupcakes I didn't think I Had many clothes, but just been given 5 carrier bags worth of stuff from a friend who has a 10 week old baby and was surprised how many 0 - 3 clothes that he's already grown out of especially when he was 6lb when born, just going to go through the lot and organise by weight, hopefully I'll be able to use a lot of it plus you'll be given loads a long the way I'm sure!

Another one who has still to pack mine and babies bag, really need to write a list!

Sorry not as short as I thought it might be!

CupcakesHay · 27/12/2010 22:29

Oooh I just saw start of thread syaing you were posting from phone pootle and i thought - OOOOOOH she's having the baby! Obviously not. I'm getting far too excited. |too many twiglets i thinK!

Pootle78 · 27/12/2010 22:35

'fraid not! Sorry to excite you just can't be bothered to switch the computer on!

LadyBuzz · 28/12/2010 07:44

cupcakes by newborn I actually mean Newborn best on the tag BUT don't panic, I have had clothes off my niece and her friend, a lady SIL works with and MILs next door neighbour on top of all the neutral ones I have from the first 2!
I have a bag full of early and tiny baby clothes (not a chance if she is like the first 2)
DSs were in Newborn for about 2 weeks max so 0-3 is just fine, I also have 2 boxes of 0-3 under the cot!
If you haven't got enough just let me know I'll send you some, I think I will have enough for the whole thread Grin

Re hospital bag, I have 6 vests and 6 babygrows but I know I will be in a couple of days with the CS so I am prepared!

BubbaAndBump · 28/12/2010 08:37

I have about 3 babygrows in the hospital bag as I know my parents and friends will be buying it stuff on top - and only plan on being in for two days tops Xmas Hmm

I don't bother with newborn, but then my past two babies have been whoppers and DD2 didn't even make it into 0-3m clothes Xmas Grin

Hey Pootle nice to hear from you, even if you get us over-excited.

OP posts:
BubbaAndBump · 28/12/2010 08:38

And yes to a blanket - snuggle them in.

OP posts:
BubbaAndBump · 28/12/2010 11:34

Okay, start of the rants....

They arrived at 5pm last night with seven thousand presents for the girls, including a very dodgy dress for DD1 (but honestly I'm not precious enough to not let her wear it, but really not to my taste). Went on and on and on and on about how long it had been since they last saw them and how much they missed them (3months).

Made funny noises about the new sofabed we have when I told them that would be their bed the next time they came to stay (evil Xmas Grin). I said it was either that or a B&B so they could choose what suited them best!

This a.m I've sent DH out to garages to get prices for our beloved Prius Xmas Sad and have tidied up around the DCs (with their help) as their grandad let them a)get naked and b)trash the place while I had a shower by letting them play with about five different sets of toys without tidying any away in the meantime. I then cleared the breakfast table, swept the floor and generally did a lot of bending down and picking up (sooooooooo fat and uncomfy, and all the huffing and puffing I was doing to show how fat and uncomfy I was didn't seem to make a difference! Xmas Hmm) while FIL looked on and watched. Xmas Angry

Now MIL is reading them a story with her really, really squeaky high pitched voice, I almost told her to use her indoor voice as that's something we're trying to teach our 3yr old to use!! Xmas Grin

Escaped upstairs now being antisocial. Three more days to go. Must Be Nice.
