Oh crap bubba about the gender thing. but brill he's facing the right way. And your poor rug!

So you know i'm going to ask - will you tell us what it is bubba??? And so pleased your sis got here ok.

Surprisingly giving my lurgies and all - actually feeling ok. To be fair, had such an OK time with pregnancy, was bound to get something eventually!

I HATE vit c pootle unless choc oranges count?

pootle brill presents from your leaving lunch/baby shower - must be great - and don't knock the breast pads - bet they'll be the best pressie ever! Xmas Grin and thanks for telling me about the [fbear]

Def putting off mat bag til after christmas - i have a long list - inc pillows? Looked at "virtual tour" and seemed to have pillows - but i bought one from IKEA now - so buggered if i won;t use it - even if it's just to hit DH with when i'm in agony!

Also - I know we've got our name sorted. how are you all doing? No need to tell us what it is - just wondering if it's done and dusted or still a mystery. ours has been sorted since - well... July i think! although took a few more months to convince DH he wanted it too! Wink

BubbaAndBump · 22/12/2010 20:46

Crap indeed cupcakes - still keeping it schtumm together with DH until baby's born though - sorry!

Have a great last day at work tomorrow pootle Xmas Smile

zippy my hospital bag is quite small if you want some guidance on what I would say was important to have?

Hi folks. So much to catch up on when you've been off line for a few days isn't there.

Bubba that totally sucks about the doctor, I would be well pissed off. I had my own shitty appointment the other day actually. Waited an hour to see mw who then said she thought I was breech so then had to wait for the doctor to do another check with scan. Anyway i'd waited bloody ages so popped to the loo and asked a lady to let doctor know if my name was called. Anyway I got back and the lady said 'she has literally just called you' so I knocked on the door and was totally ignored while the good doc decided to phone a friend and take my toilet absence as an excuse for a break. Waited another half hour and shamelessly started weeping to myself out of sheer frustration as had had to postpone pregnancy massage booked by DH. Anyway by the time the doctor called me I was fuming and made it pretty clear. Anyway the baby was not breech and I was very tempted to find out sex but then decided against it. Figured I've waited this long I can wait a bit longer.
On another note I totally recommend pregnancy masssage to everyone. Just wish i'd been having them monthly. Still it was a little pointless as afterwards did a small food shop in TESCO and lugged a heavy bag home :(
I have just washed all of baby's clothes so looking forward to hanging them up now. Sorry for rambling. Hope everyone has a lovely Xmas if i'm not on again before then. x x x

ZippyPippy · 22/12/2010 21:15

Oh my goodness bubba am so angry on your behalf I would have been LIVID Xmas Angry. Is there any chance the doctor just referred to baby as he/she without actually knowing but instead of saying 'it'....?

Massage sounds a great idea salt will get myself booked in for one of those.

Pootle78 · 22/12/2010 21:19

Bubba just seen your post in AIBU - can't believe she did that, I would be p*ssed off too!

CupcakesHay · 22/12/2010 21:20

salt ramble away my love. I'd have been fuming too - but at least you managed to make your massage eventually.

Just made my mum open my parcel from Dh - as i wanted to read my card.... and the donut forgot to put it in Hmm - just texted him - and he found it by front door! Tsk - men! he said he'll do me a virtual card tomorrow. Quite pleased he's not here to see me at mo - i'm looking so minging - have reddest nose, one eye swollen shut and minging hair which I know needs a wash - but can't be bothered....

BubbaAndBump · 22/12/2010 21:24

No, unfortunately not Zippy - it was a very clear "oh, I see you're having a _" from the silly bint of a doc. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 22/12/2010 22:03

Well - on the whole silver lining front - you won't waste time thinking about names for the other sex, and you can secretly buy certain coloured clothing.....

And just think - when you hold him/her you probably won't care. It's a complete crapper for you both - but like you say, you're keeping schtum and everyone can be surprised when it arrives.

LadyBuzz · 22/12/2010 22:14

bubba Angry how very crappy of the stupid stupid doctor. I wouls be livid too.
Really glad that baby is head down though, thats great news.

cupcakes hope you feel better soon.

pootle I am managing to steer clear of any bugs so far thank god, off to the pantomime with the boys tomorrow afternoon, then I am in hiding til Saturday!

I finished work today, I'm over the moon, AND I managed the christmas food shop so I think I am all sorted now - If I haven't got it now I don't want it Grin

CupcakesHay · 22/12/2010 22:36

ladybuzz He's behind YOU!!!!! Xmas Grin And YAY to finishing work. now you can all try adn put feet up for a tiny bit before babies start coming!

I think i'll be on here most days now - only so much note writing a girl can do - plus parents now have lurgy... so not much fun here. Oh thank god for yule log!

Crystylline · 23/12/2010 08:17

Hi all. Well, have managed to get out of devon and home to my folks.

Having lots of bh, but still no actual labour. Lots of jokes from family about calling bump Jesus.

Glad everyone is well.

Off to finish Xmas shopping. Will catch up better later. X

AmIGoingMad · 23/12/2010 12:04

Phew- it's very busy on here!
bubba sooooo annoyed on your behalf! Its such a personal decision as to whether you want to find out or not! Grrrr!
jjkm so pleased that things are going so well with your little ones!
salt Its really annoying isn't it- if we're late (even tho we arrived on time and had to pee cos they kept us waiting so long) it's a problem, but if they're late there's not even an apology! I'm with you on the massage front tho- me and hubby have booked to go to stay in posh hotel on Mon and then have spa day on the Tues- I am soooo excited! Grin Mine's called the 'mamma mia to be' day!!!! I think I might be slightly more excited about that than Christmas at the moment!
Also- still haven't packed hospital bag- oops! And we're still waiting for nursery furniture to be delivered- they've changed the date 4 times due to snow!!! Hopefully it'll get here next Wed- fingers crossed!
I'm on Christmas hols from school now and was planning to go back for full week after but now they've put a parent's evening halfway through that week and the thought of that at end of school day makes me want to just stay home in bed- is that awful?!?!
Sorry about long post! Smile

CupcakesHay · 23/12/2010 13:22

amigoing - that;s not a long post!!!!

Spa day sounds fab - i'd love to do one of those! I've made Dh promise me a whole day of bugger all and him looking after baby when I finally get home.

Pleased you're out of Devon crystylline - take it easy.

Off to nurse this afternoon - have conjunctivitus in both eyes despite being uber-careful, and the pharmacist (who is noe my best friend) said I have to see nurse today! he marched me in to make appt!

Can you believe - i have spent £40 in chemist in last 2 days! There was me planning to buy some fun things and instead i spend it on cough meds and tissues. And bit gutted as had to throw a pretty much brand new £19 mascara away cos of stupid eye infection Xmas Angry

But very excited for Christmas. Bet those of you with kids can't wait! That's what i'm looking forward to in a few years time the whole "father christmas came" thing!!! Xmas Grin - bet it's magic!

RunningKatie · 23/12/2010 15:13

7 working hours to go Grin

Sorry to post and run but Bubba, I can't believe the Doc said that. I'd have been cross too.

Cupcakes - we have names sorted, but I'm still not sure I like the boy name hugely, so hoping for a girl secretly!

Final NCT class tonight, followed by a curry, I'm so tired I'd rather not go and DP is coming down with a cold - but I'm hoping this is the start of some good mummy-type friendships so am going to pull myself together before 6pm.

I love the new cot bed, although it does rather take up a lot of room in our bedroom, thus far I've not walked into it but it's only a matter of time during those nocturnal toilet trips......

CupcakesHay · 23/12/2010 17:01

running bet you get bruised with cotbed. And good for you pulling together for curry - you know it makes sense! Like your plan with the girl!

Got some drops for eye - and another appt to see a doc tomorrow - as nurse said I'm worse than when she saw me week ago - and they need to give me something. honestly - i never EVER go to doctors...

On plus side, all the parcels that should be here are! YAY! And we picked up our turkey and some gammon earlier! thank god i haven't lost my appetite.

BubbaAndBump · 23/12/2010 17:40

Thanks running - I've had quite a lengthy grump on an AIBU thread about it, but had a few people telling me to be grateful for a healthy baby and not to be so self-absorbed (or at least that's what I've read into it all)!

Poor you cupcakes you do sound like you're suffering a bit!

We did have a shortlist of names, but now we know what it's likely to be, I'm a bit more confused!! Xmas Confused Xmas Hmm Dopey Cow that I am. DH threw a new name into the mix today which I quite like the sound of, so am going through it in my head over and over... on vera...

Pootle78 · 23/12/2010 18:14

Yay work is over, think I am going to hibernate now!!!

My biggest issue now is we have an insurance claim going through for leaking pipework since beginning of November and they finally booked the work in to be completed, weeks 38 and 39 of this pregnancy - this child better not be early!!!

Poor you cupcakes at least if you have everything now, once baby is here there will be nothing left to catch - and how come you are buying things in the chemist, don't you get it free with your NHS card?

Bubba I'm with you on the AIBU, sometimes it doesn't matter what other people think, if you want to be pissed off then go for it! Think I might start a post "AIBU that none of my senior management team contributed to my leaving gift?" As my friend sneekily went through the list of who did and who didn't, I mean I've only been there 7 years and am part of the management team myself!!!

BubbaAndBump · 23/12/2010 19:38

thanks pootle

btw ladies, I got the flu vaccination which includes the H1N1 vaccination - I've researched it quite thoroughly and it's safe for babies and important for pregnant women to get, IMO...

Supposedly the NHS has done a campaign about it, but it passed me by before a couple of days back.

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 23/12/2010 20:20

I didn't realise til I spoke (well wrote down my question) to nurse earlier, but my flu jab was a 3 in one - so had swine flu in it too. So feel better about that.

Yeah AIBU is good, but you will always get the whole "be grateful" etc - which you are but you want to just rant! How exciting a possible new name Hmm... i kind of wish we hadn't decided as i'm sure it's fun to decide at time - but fallen in love with the name - and call baby it when it's just me and him!

yep - having rough time, but have been lucky so far - and like you say - hopefully won't get anything else.

What NHS card? Am i missing something fun?

pootle that's crap about your leaving pressie. bloody managers (not you!) are tight aren't they. And i'll keep toes crossed your bubba isn't early too.

YAY - Christmas eve tomorrow. Even though feeling crappy - still excited. Xmas Grin and off to plead with docs tomorrow to beg for antibiotics - although appt is at 8.20am! UGH. i have written a letter, as can't speak, and laid it on thick. Keep thinking - what happens if i'm mute at the birth???? (although know DH wouldn't mind!)

Pootle78 · 24/12/2010 11:31

Cupcakes do you not have a NHS prescription charge certificate - free prescriptions until baby is 1 year old?

CupcakesHay · 24/12/2010 12:59

Apparently need to sort out NHS card - midwife should have given me one. Anyhhow - chemist's let it slide....

Main thing is - i have ANTIBIOTICS Xmas Grin - it's like an early christmas pressie. only got 3 hours sleep last night - and latest - can't even swallow - so might be liquidising my turkey - but WHO CARES! It's christmas. my bump's wiggling and I'll be better soon (well - sooner now!)

And as I said to my dad this morning - a screaming baby will be easy for him to put up with after my annoying coughing fits!!!!

Happy christmas all! x

RunningKatie · 24/12/2010 14:18

Christmas Eve and I'm finishing work very soon (with a bit of luck)!

Happy Christmas! Xmas Smile

Fuzzywood · 24/12/2010 17:31

Merry Christmas all, hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow. We've just got back from the children's carol service at the church so feeling very Christmassy now Xmas Smile
Got to go now as DD is insisting we check out where Father Christmas is as you can track him on Google Earth, very cool Xmas Grin

scubamummy · 25/12/2010 18:58

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm replete with meat and scouring the online sales for good baby deals....hope everyone has had a wonderful day without too much stress or drama!

CupcakesHay · 26/12/2010 00:03

Happy Christmas! Hope you are all relaxing and stuffed with turkey - I must admit i did the whole "eating for two" thing over the roast potatoes Xmas Grin

I'm scouring online too! My husband found the car seat we were after on Halfords for £89.99 as opposed to £140! Well pleased!

And got my Skip Hop Duo Deluxe Nappy bag for a chrismtas pressie - and in Love with it. And got Glee on DVD - which baby loves as he kicks like crazy when I'm watching it!

and heard DH's voice - and he loved the secret photobook i did for him d he was very happy and was sooooo nice to listen to his voice after not hearing it since I went mute on Monday - even if i could only squeak in reply - so i'm a happy girl! Xmas Smile
