ZippyPippy · 20/12/2010 17:18

Poor you cupcakes I've had some rotten colds this winter so can sympathise especially when you can't take anything! Lots and lots of resting up for you.

Exciting about the show crystylline although our NCT teacher said she had one at about 25 weeks or something and went full term so who knows.....

Last week of work for me too running I'm SO excited, feel like I've already left mentally now!! Although if more snow comes this way overnight I'm going to struggle to make it in tomorrow and have my replacement coming in for a handover so really need to try and get in. Wish I could just hibernate for christmas now!!!

CupcakesHay · 20/12/2010 18:02

zippy almost there then too! bet you are so excited.... how long do you get off 6 months???

I feel bad - both my parents have come down with my lurgy... so feel guilty there! And very very hard not to talk often! Luckily doesn't stop me Mumsnetting on here! (bet you all wish otherwise! Wink)

oh - and almost finished my assignment - done 890 words out of 2000.... (due 3rd jan - so getting there)

LadyBuzz · 20/12/2010 18:42

cupcakes hope you feel better soon. Flu is crap!

crystylline how exciting, hope when something does happen you can get through the snow!

running i'm on countdown too - 2 days left for me I am on my own aswell so enjoying the peace Xmas Grin

Everyone I know seems to be ill at the moment so we are staying at home and avoiding them, I've even kept DS2 off nursery in case he picks up the D&V bug thats going round. I don't want to take any risks this close to christmas - I'm a bit phobic when it comes to vomit so I try to minimise the risks!

CupcakesHay · 20/12/2010 20:08

V. Sensible ladybuzz i had the D&V bug last last Christmas - out of 10 of us, 9 of us got it. We did the whole "who ate what" thing at first, but there was nothing we had in common - so was def the bug.

Just spoke to DH - and he still hasn't got the rest of his Xmas presents which I sent at start of dec - should have arrived in Syria today - but no planes flying - which means he won't get them til after N. Year. Luckily i left him about 4 wrapped up! And i'm still waiting for an amazon order an the parcel that DH sent to me - although that only arrived in UK on thurs - so chances of it getting to me are slim. But still crazily happy that I have the best present growing inside of me Xmas Grin - is that a bit sickly sweet?

FloraPost · 20/12/2010 21:21

Aw Cupcakes, your sunny outlook is lovely . Can you tell I still HATE being pregnant?! Luckily my dissociative mind regards it as a completely separate thing to having a baby - sorted.

Now Crystylline, this show of yours. How much gunk was there, if you don't mind me asking? I wondered about a week ago whether I had one you see, but not sure.

AIGM I have been agonising for weeks and really need to make a beautician appt. One normally sorts it out oneself but that is impossible at this stage, no? I'm not sure whether it would be worse to go flash my bits to a stranger in a salon or to get DP to do it Xmas Confused

CupcakesHay · 20/12/2010 21:37

OOoh - good question flora about the show!

And ask me again in mid jan how my outlook is - if there's more snow and DH might be stuck in syria - then not sure i'll be so happy!!!!

Crystylline · 20/12/2010 21:44

still sitting quietly whilst nothing happens!

midwife is coming tomorrow, but she's pretty cool about it...

TMI alert to answer Flora's Q about gunk: initially funny snotty looking discharge(less than a teaspoon), then pinkish smeary discharge and then - most delightfully - two days with large clotted, brown stringy messiness (tablespoon sized).

apologies for grossness.

cupcakes you are v. sweet! he'll get to you somehow...

BubbaAndBump · 20/12/2010 21:49

Nice question flora Xmas Hmm!!

On the positive side, my sainsbury's delivery has just arrived in the snow, and except for substituting gold coins for crappy sainsbo's milk buttons (loose, not hang-on-a-tree-able), everything else is tickety boo and fridge is looking festive, as is garden where hubby's beer is being stored! On the negative side, sis and her kids still stuck in Norway and have had to re-book again for Weds now! Supposed to be my other niece's birthday and panto party on Weds, so not sure if that'll go ahead or not... Xmas Sad

I have tried (possibly in vain, not sure as it was an automated thingamy!) to book myself a swineflu vaccine tomorrow, mainly just to get my mum off my back about it!! Xmas Hmm

Cupcakes is your DH not going to be able to join you for Christmas?? Xmas Sad

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 21/12/2010 11:17

Your poor sis bubba - looks like flights are going now - so hopefully she'll get there - and i'm sure you'll muddle through with your plans. Not sure i'd be happy about lack of gold coins - but still chocolate at least!

Yeah, DH is having christmas in syria as we need to save leave for when baby is here.

I have PROPER laryngitus now - so can't speak. That'll be fun at growth scan this afternoon - writing down my questions for my mum to read! Oh, and my poor parents now have my cold - so we're all snotty and miserable in Devon!

On plus side - i thought my pressie from DH wouldn't get here - but it arrived literally 3 mins ago! HURRAH!

Haven't booked in for swine flu - had other flu jab, but hadn't thought about swine flu... hmm... goign to pharmacy later - so maybe i'll try and make appt??? Haven't really read up about it... is it safe? I assume it must be if you're going for one bubba

And love the description crystylline - sounds like a minging end of a period to me - if i can remember that far back! Hope you are still relaxing and eating chocolate. Let us know how you get on with m/wife today.

AmIGoingMad · 21/12/2010 12:32

Poor you cupcakes still not feeling better!Keep on the warm drink and resting. I'm also mightily impressed with your positive outlook and am hoping to adopt it!

crystylline how are you doing? Any more show or other symptoms?

running loving your optimism with booking hair appt day before you're due! Smile Was hoping to do something along those lines myself but hubby's asked me not to if I can help it as he'll be on pins! As it took him 7 1/2 hours to make his hour long journey home from work last night, I had to go along with it!!! Phoned my usuals and they can't now fit me in til mid Jan so I'm going to take a risk and try someone new- this could be a disaster as I'm really picky when I have me hair done but won't be able to afford my regular place when on mat leave anyway so prob best that I wean myself off now!!!!

Also need to phone around and find someone to wax me (not obsessed honest Grin)! I was told a little while ago by one place that they don't like to do it in third trimester but didn't have much faith in them anyway so will look around (or am I simply trying to find someone who'll tell me what i want to hear?! Grin

bubba I'm once again really impressed with your organisational skills! Also - tbh hadn't considered getting the flu/swine flu jab but you've made me think!

I also really hope that everyone's relatives and friends manage to make it to them. I'm lucky living so close to mine and would feel really sad not to see them at Christmas so am thinking of you all!

Crystylline · 21/12/2010 12:41

still having a show. still nothing else Sad

midwife on her way this afternoon. updates to come!

brb, need food!

RunningKatie · 21/12/2010 15:15

We have a cotbed Grin - I can't wait to go home and admire it.

Cupcakes - hope you're feeling better soon. Lots of lurgies floating around here but I'm trying to remain germ free.

Crystylline, didn't realise it could go on so long. Let us know what the midwife says.

I think I scared myself awake last night, blinking last week at work and worrying I'm not ready for the birth etc. etc. Baby seems to be really on the move at the moment, got midwife tomorrow so I'm hoping she's going to say s/he's still head down, I do wonder with the spinning that's going on.

Crystylline · 21/12/2010 15:59

hi all,

midwife's been and nothing conclusive. possible that given it's been going on so long with no other signs, that the show will stop and that will be that for now.

also possible that other symptoms will develop, but not looking as likely.

fetal heartrate is absolute normal, my blood pressure normal, so looks like I@m just going to be waiting it out!

katie it's my last week at work too, and desperately trying to tie up all loose ends - it's a nightmare. I'm sure I'll be waking up fretting too.

if it's any comfort, i have a spinning baby at night as well - wonder if that's to do with how relaxed our bodies are in sleep. do they have more space then?

hope everyone has a lovely xmas.

ZippyPippy · 21/12/2010 16:18

Good to hear all the updates, lots going!

I have good news, saw the midwife earlier and she was convinced baby was still breech and said oh you'll have to see the consultant next week and have an ECV which I REALLY didn't want to have, especially Christmas week, so drove over to the hospital feeling miserable willing baby to turn. I got there and had the scan and its firmly head down in a good position horrah!!!

Turns out the midwife was getting baby's bottom confused with its head, not sure if that means my baby has a big large bum Xmas Hmm

3 days until mat leave starts!!

Crystylline · 21/12/2010 16:36

Zippy

I think I'm mum-to-be of a baby with a fat arse as well! Grin either that or he's breech... scan is in january.

glad to hear that he's the right way round and that mat leave is so soon.

huzzah for the holidays!

FloraPost · 21/12/2010 17:36

Hurrah Zippy! ECVs are supposed to be not nice, glad you don't need one.

I saw the midwife this afternoon; everything fine. She said the gunk last week probably was a show but doesn't mean anything as they can happen without being a sign of imminent popping. Boo.

It's been a bit warmer here today so snow has turned to slush Xmas Smile, looking good for getting to my family at the weekend. The hospital bags are coming with us so not much room for enormous presents. I have scoured the threads in the pregnancy topic for tips on what to take - flipflops and dried apricots are in!

CupcakesHay · 21/12/2010 19:57

Good news all round then! Please all ok so far with you crystylline especially with forecast of minus 9 where you live!

And brill news zippy!

I went for growth scan and had to write questions down for my mum to read out! Anyhow - all good with baby - not giant but measuring ever so slightly above normal. Still has long legs though.

At moment my baby's head is down - but scan lady today said i don't need to dstart worrying yet, as i'm only 34+2 weeks - so when do i need to worry?

Saw consultant, and been told all good - hopefully no need to go back to mat unit til birth. Just need to have my blood pressure checked every week.

And flora i have crocs in my mat bag - not much else at moment... going to pack after Xmas. off to sains with parents tomo to do Christmas shop (that'll be fun) - but only have Morrisons nearby - so i'll be scouring for exciting things for my hospital bag - like flapjacks!

So pleased snow's clearning enough to let you get to your family flora.

Don't panic running bet your job is even more stressful than having a baby!!! Bet you'd be able to manage triplets!

Off to bed soon - miss the days when I used to get 2 hours a night between loo trips. It's very tiring having to write notes to people all day - as well as frustrating! Plus wanted to speak to DH earlier - and obviously, can't talk! But on plus side, swerved a call from MIL - every silver cloud... Xmas Grin

Brill news about twins! So pleased getting better... that's just perfect news!

I had a "feeling sorry for myself" cry last night and then my mum caught me and i cried on her shoulder for about 15 mins - didn't help my snot situation (nice) but made me feel better - and i've pulled myself together again. Also emailled DH and told him that for once it probably is hormones!

Off to battle sains in a minute - my parents thought it would be quieter today Hmm so wish me luck!!!!

Ps. I still haven't figured out the Bear emoticon!

RunningKatie · 22/12/2010 12:58

Great news about the girls jjkm

Hope sains went well Cupcakes

Been to the midwife today, my BP has come down again and the baby is started to head south, the pp to brim measurement is 4/5 so still a way to go.

Zippy - great news that you don't need an ECV.

2.5 working days to go Grin

CupcakesHay · 22/12/2010 18:24

Sains was good - surprisingly! Although lady at checkout said her hubby had laryngitus for 10 days - my mum looked excited!

Oh - and woke up from nap this afternoon - have a gunky eye - think it's conjunctivitis! Maybe Santa will bring me a new body for Christmas!!!

Still - have 2 yule logs sitting there....
And my nappy bucket arrived today, and also my "tomy Sshh" bee toy - which plays a crazy little tune. As my dad said "Baby's had more parcels than anyone today!

Good news about your BP running - i reckon as soon as you finish work it'll be fine. I haven;t had any measurements done - but i think i'm a few weeks behind the ret of you - as i'm not due til very end of jan.

Oooh - and bought snacks for hospital bag - got flapjacks, ribena for DH and rice krispie squares - I'm not too good on glucose type energy bars - so figure crazy unhealthy sugary snacks are the way to go!!! Xmas Grin

Pootle78 · 22/12/2010 19:56

Well the snow finally appeared here today and put the kibosh (sp?) on me heading to our other office to say goodbye to them :(

I finish tomorrow, thank god!!! Had my leaving lunch on Monday and it was a kind of baby shower, so rather than everyone chipping into one present they all bought something useful. I got hand made blankets and jackets along with loads of wipes, powder, toys and teddies and some breast pads [hmmm]

Cupcakes hope the laryngitus doesn't last to long, you need to dose yourself up on vit c!

crystylline You're due the same day as me so am waiting for your updates in the hope it doesn't happen to me - we are no where near ready to have this baby in the house!

Zippy I'm with you, I think I mentally left my job about 7 months ago!

lady hope you are still avoiding those bugs out there, everyone seems to have the lurgy at the moment and I seem to spend a lot of time telling people to stop breathing near me!

flora another organised person, I really need to read those threads about what to pack, I keep seeing people mention anti bac wipes Shock if the showers and baths are that bad I'm going home, at least I know what's been in mine!

Running good news on the BP, stress at work is probably to blame, come the end of the week I'm sure it will be back to normal as the stress just lifts!

Ooops sorry for long post, I seemed to have missed a lot this week!

ZippyPippy · 22/12/2010 19:57

oh cupcakes you are having a rough time of it, I really hope you feel better soon. No wonder you had a hormonal cry, quite allowed.

As for the hospital bag, I looked at the list NCT gave us and just couldn't face it, there is so much on there I don't know where to start! REALLY need to get at least a few things together though...

Great to hear the twins are doing well jjkm.

It's so nearly Christmas!! Xmas Grin

Pootle78 · 22/12/2010 19:58

PS: Cupcakes the Bear arrived around Children in Need so think it is supposed to be Pudsey but he never disappeared so is now [fbear] Christmas Pudsey!

BubbaAndBump · 22/12/2010 20:04

Hey ladies - a couple of hormental days for me, with a few I-feel-sorry-for-me cry sessions after being prodded and poked by one too many friends and family Xmas Hmm and being told I look huge and funny Xmas Hmm Xmas Hmm, having a friend's child chuck up all over our new rug (poor thing :() and waking all night long because of kicking by babyBubba Xmas Sad. Cleaned the oven thoroughly today though so got some nesting out of the way and sister managed to fly in late last night - such a relief - so had my niece's birthday party with cousins and family today Xmas Smile.

Had a doc's appt today, and was told head is down (not engaged but down at least) so no ELC for me!! Xmas Grin fgrin] Hurrayyyyyyy (although weirdly part of me was hoping they'd say it could be out in 2 weeks; time!!). But, and get this Xmas Shock, the stupid bloody doctor told us the gender of the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Xmas Angry. Sooooooo pissed off to know. And she never apologised!!
