New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

Oh no Florapost how awful for your friend and you. I guess you can't help feel guilty even though you have no reason too. Did they explain why she miscarried so late on? I still worry about things going wrong now even though the finish line isn't too far away. Hope she gets all the support she needs.

I definitely plan on packing loads of water/juice drinks for labour as I always get so thirsty anyway. Also going to pack some percy pig sweets from M&S yum yum. I disgusted myself on Saturday night by eating an entire bag.

Baby has been very naughty today and kicking and wiggling loads while I was trying to teach this afternoon. Felt like it was trying to headbutt its way out of my side. Making me wonder if it is lying transverse? sausages are beeping have to dash...

BubbaAndBump · 29/11/2010 20:24

Your poor friend Flora :(. So sad.

My baby's been enjoying my teaching too salt - and the meetings after school with various choccy biscuits! Wink

Glad the flip flops are flip-flopping their way into the hospital bags. And for the first-timers - more humungous sanitary pads than you ever imagined could be used by one person - sorry if TMI...

Oh the first poo. Not a good thought.

On that note, I'm off to eat my risotto :o

I know; one of those situations when the bad fortune of others makes you feel guilty because the same randomly occuring crap hasn't happened to you. I will try to see her asap to be a bit more use than I can on the phone.

Salt and all you other teachers; I've said it before but I am just amazed at how you keep going. I only have to sit on my arse all day (well, slightly more than that Hmm) and I get exhausted. Speaking of which, off to the land of the horizontal for me...

CupcakesHay · 29/11/2010 21:28

I agree with all flora Sad really tragic - your poor friend.

bubba - I've already got my plan to go to get my mat pads from boots my first week down in Devon.

Bag wise - I bought 2 pillows from Ikea today to chuck in my case. Worried about the snacks. I asked a girl I knew who turned round and said "Don't take soup" Hmm - not being funny - but what sort of crazy person would consider taking soup in their bag?

And so far, my birth plan consists of: DRUGS, Skin-to-Skin, Marmite on my toast please Grin - not sure if I'll be staying overnight, but if i am I figure marmite on toast for breakfast would be fab.

I bought a "leaving hospital" outfit today for baby in JoJo Maman - t's navy with rockets nad starships and stuff. My mum has knitted an amazing star-shaped blanket - so I figured it would match.

And agree with flora about the teachers - well - and all of you, running around working and stuff. You all deserve lovely breaks and maternity leave rests (well - before the sleepless nights kick in!)

One question for already-mums... I did ask this on boards, but got no reply Sad but a friend gave me a travel cot - will I need to get a new mattress for it, or is it OK for me to use the old one? I'm thinking of when i come home when baby is 6 months... [Confused

LadyBuzz · 29/11/2010 21:37

cupcake I suppose it will depend on how often you use it (and how well you know the person it came from).
I had a barely used cot from my cousin and a well used travel cot, I didn't replace either as I mainly used the barely used cot and hardly used the well used travel one IYSWIM Grin

A tip for anyone having a section: pop a cheap sanitary pad over your wound it helps to keep it dry which in turn helps prevent infection. My MW with DS1 told me this after I had an infection and I did it again with DS2 - just the job Grin

I can't wait to finish work, we are having issues with the evil witch lovely colleague of mine which looks like its going into a full grievance procedure - just what I need 4 weeks before I go!!

saltnvinigarcrips · 29/11/2010 22:39

Hmm seems like there are a few of us who are teachers. Well I am conspiring to not go into tomorrow which is very naughty but I have the morning off for an ante natal class and just don't see the point trying to get across London to teach Periods 5 and 6. Thinking of calling up and saying it overran or I don't feel well but don't want them to put me down as sick. Feel bad but last week I was so stressed out trying to get back to school in an hour!!! getting 2 tubes and a bus!
bubba I had to cover my bump in meeting afterschool today baby was moving around so much I was worried people would see my bump blubbing everywhere. I was also tempted to grab people's hands and put them on bump but managed to resist. Anyway it is supposed to snow tonight whoop whoop so time to get the wellies out :)
cupcakes and anyone else who knows this, is there a big difference between cheap mat pads and expensive ones? And bubba what can I do to make first poo better??

RunningKatie · 30/11/2010 10:16

Oh Flora - your poor friend, how sad. :(

I'm working from home again, it has snowed overnight, stopped and started again.

Anyone else got private healthcare? One of my friends mentioned she could get a CS on hers if her baby remained breech, I was pretty sure mine didn't cover anything to do with pregnancy but when I checked at the weekend I get a £100 childbirth bonus for actually having the baby! Grin

Bump has shifted from my left side to my right side in the past 24 hours, I keep getting the odd twinge but no idea if that's a braxton hicks or not.

Salt - eat lots of fibre apparently, especially fig roll biscuits whilst in labour!

saltnvinigarcrips · 30/11/2010 14:44

Great advice running i eat packs of fig rolls for snacks!!! Yum yum. Clearly I am not in school this afternoon but good as I needed to sort out several admin related things to do with pregnancy; namely maternity leave and made a fool of myself by ringing health in pregnancy grant people to say I sent off form over 6 weeks ago and hadn't heard anything only to be told I signed the form just under 4 weeks ago Blush . Still they were very nice.

LadyBuzz · 30/11/2010 15:32

salt IME I have found that the mat pads are much of a muchness.
I just use maxi sanitary pads TBH. I think they like you to use proper mat pads at first though just incase they need to check your loss (nice Grin). I did find mothercare ones were particularly crap though!

running bet you are glad you checked that policy!

RunningKatie · 30/11/2010 15:47

LadyBuzz - DP certainly is, he thinks we could be in profit if we keep finding things like this! Grin

It needs to stop snowing, it's supposed to be my baby shower at work tomorrow. Not much use if I can't get there.

ZippyPippy · 30/11/2010 18:03

I've been working at home today as we've had a load of snow in Surrey and DP banned me from trying to drive this morning. Was so glad to be in the warm all day!!

Glad you didn't go in salt. I got my health in pregnancy grant really quickly so yours shouldn't be long.

And thanks for the tips on sanitary pads, don't really want to think about it but guess I have to!!

BubbaAndBump · 30/11/2010 22:03

I was a big fan Hmm of the cheapy superdrug ones (99p big pink bag) - no real difference in them except I know Tesco's ones were like big wads of cardboard...

Honestly though, it's all worth it!!

Let's enjoy the last couple of months before we think of first poos and sanitary pads! :o

Hello board (peers around, whistles to self). Just me awake then? I have this new regime of being wide awake between 3 and 5am. I'm sure it's Tiny Flora's fault but he doesn't seem to be up and about himself Hmm.

I didn't make it to see the GP yesterday as it took almost 4 hours to get home. Not sure what I'll do today; I really need to go into work because I have a trade union case to sort out.

Cupcakes I love that outfit. I bought the dark blue one with embroidered stars and the little matching hat.

Our HIP grant came through v. quick also. Just as well really; it paid for the boiler to be fixed.

theevildead2 · 01/12/2010 04:21

I'm awake too! Are you really warm? I'm alwasy warm now

BubbaAndBump · 01/12/2010 08:05

Naughty tinyFlora - waking you up then dropping off back to sleep!

hiya evildead - I'm always warm - on playground duty yesterday with my bump sticking out with nothing but one thin layer of cotton covering it (I did have a coat on too but can't do it up anymore, even though I've moved all buttons and it was a military-style one so had double the width of material to work with) - snow was falling and all the kids were freezing and I was toasty!

Not at work this morning because DD2 has an infection so nursery won't let her go for the first 24 hrs of antibiotics Hmm

She's busy looking at my wedding photos and I'm busy doing nothing :o

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 01/12/2010 08:52

I wish I was always warm - i've been freezing lately! My mIL is like sub-zero temperatures at night. I'm praying that by the time we get back here with baby it'll be warmer and I won't have to go through the whole awkward - could you please just have heating on full? It's not her fault, lives in a rubbish building....

Love all the talkof first poos... can't wait Grin

and more to the point, loving running's £100 bonus!

I went to bed at 8.30pm last ngiht - which was fab... but was up at 7am.. ugh. too early. Was meant to be going out with a friend, but I cancelled. Felt a bit bad, but hoping to meet up friday (as long as snow holds off a bit in Surrey!)

Good decision on not going in yesterday salt - London was a nightmare traffic wise with the latest protest.

I'd heard same as bubba about Mothercare Mat pads. Might check out superdrugs today though. And i'm FINALLY going to see Harry Potter this afternoon - and maybe sneak in a Ben & Jerry's whilst i'm there Grin rude not to eh?

Oh - and my bump's kicks have been great lately - he's actually knocking the laptop from me when I type sometimes. Good boy!

RunningKatie · 01/12/2010 09:25

This snow is beginning to get on my nerves now.

We sat up last night watching the One Born Every Minute programmes that Channel 4 broadcast last year. DP was getting quite into them, although kept saying "it'll not be as bad as that, they'll only broadcast the worst ones".

I'm not always warm, although I'm a lot better than I usually am in the winter.

Right, time for another mug of tea then best get some more work done. Thank heavens for remote working!

BubbaAndBump · 01/12/2010 09:39

Make me one while you're up please Running :)

ZippyPippy · 01/12/2010 10:20

Just got my cuppa, am working at home again and nice and warm with the heating whacked up Grin cupcakes tell MIL to keep the heating on, nothing worse than being cold!!

running I watched it too and said the same that they must be all the bad ones because the easy births would be boring. Not sure programmes like that are very helpful!!!

Hope DD gets better soon bubba

BubbaAndBump · 01/12/2010 10:26

WHERE'S MY CUPPA Zippy??

DD's fine except she's currently having a tantrum because her rice cake has broken in two. It's very, very hard being two years old.

OP posts:
ZippyPippy · 01/12/2010 11:03

ha ha, on its way.

Goodness a two year old tantrum over a split rice cake, poor thing - I can't even imagine getting to that stage with bump!!!

RunningKatie · 01/12/2010 11:43

I mailed DP to tell him it was time for a cuppa. I'm sitting next to him on the sofa but his phone makes an owl noise when he gets a mail which amuses me. Grin

theevildead2 · 01/12/2010 11:47

BubbaAndBump went for a walk last night in the snow with DH (him in winter coat, gloves, hat, scarf) me in cotton tshirt and thin zipup cardi. Don't feel the cold at all anymore for the first time in my life! Nice when I'm out in the snow not nice when I'm boiling away in bed trying to sleep!

knackered76 · 01/12/2010 13:01

Sorry for crashing in briefly! I started with you all but had to leave at 10wks, just thought I'd pop back and let those of you who remember me know I am now 13wks and all looking good after scan today :) Hope all your pregnancies are going well and you're being extra careful in this delightful weather :) Right, I shall crash out again now Grin

LadyBuzz · 01/12/2010 14:35

knackered congratulations that is fab news.

Just had the txt from school to go for DS1 because of the snow. And the xmas fair is cancelled tonight - I can't say i'm gutted really I can now whack the heating up and get into my pjs Grin
