novadandypowder · 13/09/2005 18:31

May I say what a pleasure it is to be entering the final furlong with you lovely nov. ladies.

May our bellies grow big and our babies arrive on time

karmamother · 13/09/2005 18:49

Is it alright to join in?? I'm a bit new to MN which is why I'm a bit late but this antenatal club business looks fab! Haven't got the time to read through the previous threads, I'm afraid. Its a very long one!!

I'm 29+4 with 2nd pg. I'm absolutely bloody huge & completely sick of all the comments from work colleagues about how many babies I'm carrying. Got to have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow so that might explain my large girth! My DP thinks its due to the number of choccy bars I'm eating!

Feeling fed up as I totally wrecked my car on Sunday. Thought the seatbelt had ruptured my membranes but was told in the hospital I'd wee'ed myself. Oh the indignity of it. Still, rather it was wee than amniotic fluid. Since I've got whiplash & can't drive till I can move my neck properly I guess I shall be spending a lot of time on here!!

By the way, Enthusia....I keep thinking your name is euthanasia!!

Laylasmum · 13/09/2005 18:55

Can't keep up with all these new threads ! How many more before the first babe arrives?
Saw the picccie of the London meet, people look so different to the picture you have in your head don't they? All of you looked far more fab than i could imagine of course . Am sure when i post a new baby pic probably with my ugly mug on it you'll all be thinking the same !!
33 + 2 now can't believe where time is oing , still not really ready and hospital bag? ! What's one of those? don't think i'll ever be organised enough to get one sorted!!
Anyway welcome to the November crew karma mother and hope the rest of your pg is a breeze!!( there is a due in Nov stats thread if you want to add yourself to it!)

Enthusia · 13/09/2005 19:00

Welcome Karmamother

Hope you are not too badly hurt. I too was in a car accident recently - but nothing like yours at all, I still went shopping afterwards

How scary, especially thinking you had broken your waters, I bet it was a mixture of relief and embarassment when they told you!!! Mind you we are meant to have weak bladders anyway!

Enjoy your time off, and please come on here as often as you want I do

I wouldn't start reading all the previous threads, we are on number 7 and there are at least 500 messages on each so it would take you until your due date to finish them! If you want to know a little more about us, check out the nov stats list on the antenatal section.

Right DH is here so BBYYYYEEEEEE

Well done that girl!! Enthusia that is

And welcome Karmamother!! Thanks for your reply to my breast pump query yesterday (thatwas you wasn't it? And if it wasn't I'm now going to just give you some random advice! ), I seen one today in the Babies'r'us catalogue which looks like my old Boots one for a more reasonable 20 pounds. Sorry to hear about your car crash BTW. How crappy.

Well went for my growth scan today and all is fine and still girlie looking apparently!! Although was there from 2.30 til 5.30! Was only scanned and then went to see one of the clinic doctors! You'd think I'd be used to all the waiting around by now

Laylasmum, Nice to see you here - maybe we'll have to have a MN meet-up on the post-natal ward!!

Well sorry if I've missed any news, I did read the old thread but have forgotton all that's on there now!

Although I did read today that the baby is using up all our DHA fatty acids which is to blame for the 'brain fog' we may be experiencing. Well I definitely am, can't seem to be able to answer a simple question now like 'Do you want a cup of tea?' So now I have an excuse now!!

The worst thing is that I'm taking pregnancy fish oil supplements too - can't imagine what I'd be like without them

Right off to do tea (well, pop some pizzas in the oven) as dear beloved has just got in from work.

Speak to you later,

32+6 x x x

babyonboard · 14/09/2005 00:51

new thread..yey!
It's unbelievably late so I haven't read much but a big welcome to the newcomers!
Best get back to my hot choc and magazine..please...give me some sleep!

Enthusia · 14/09/2005 07:21

Morning all

Rodeo - Know exactly what you mean about brain fog. I can't even decide what I want to do in a day and seem to walk around in a complete haze!

Twinkle, hope you are feeling better this morning, I am tending to get more emotional when DH is away now, and he is never gone more than 1 or 2 nights - not long now - only one more sleep til he's home

Well then what shall we do today - I think I better clean the house, sort the load of stuff on this table, go to the post office, go shopping, actually cook a dinner (rather than bung something in the oven - Rodeo snap on your pizza last night), start another cross stitch card, and maybe finish what I started in the nursery yesterday. That should keep me going for most of the day!

Hope you are all bright and breezy this morning.

Good morning everyone,

Have woken up to what feels like a winter morning..brrr! (I love it - especially now that I'll be swapping freezing cold train stations for cosy afternoons indoors)

Ladies, who else is suffering from backache? Honestly now, I had the WORST backache i've ever had last night - I know this sounds silly but I thought it was too severe to be just an ache and that the time had come Have never seen DH look so pale. Was thinking about hospital bag etc. and it's probably a good idea that i'm starting now as it is definitely taking my mind off the actual day - if onset of labour is anything as painful I will not care - I'll be stuffing whatever is on the bathroom shelves in my pockets (remember Londoner's post on nappies in pockets) and running for the door!!
I think the 2nd/3rd/4th timers are being too nice to us - am sure they read some of our posts and think 'Bless them! Little do they know....' He heee!!
After having been up most of the night and sick all through think i'll take to bed with a book..make the most of it eh?

Enthusia - Some of the organic baby toiletries arrived just now (I saved about 15pounds on two gift sets even though P&P was a little over what i would have liked) and they are great. They seem to be selling quite a few of the sets, some going to almost normal price and others staying as low as 2pounds.
I bought the Mothercare baby box (blue with penguins on front) as was reduced from 15 to 11 and am now filling it up with the toiletries. I am impressed with your bargains by the way, fortunately for us MIL is buying the travel system, my dad the cot and my mum has been buying heaps of clothes so our list is definitely better. Friends have already asked what we want so we are going to ask for thermometer/steriliser etc..from them. Looking good!

Apologies if this turns out to be longest post in history. Have mercy for poorly ole me

Check in later x

rodeo1 · 14/09/2005 10:08

Morning girls,

It is really quiet with ds at playgroup every morning (v. nice too!). Still sunny here at the mo, and I'm feeling really hot and sticky, may be something to do with the boiling hot cup of tea I've just had!

Ooh yes, go back to bed Chacha! I'm always skulking off upstairs to 'tidy up' only to be found an half an hour later in bed reading Potter! Although I can't do that now because finished it last night I hate finishing books!!

Right got a few things to do, internet banking being one (poo) and booking next year's holiday being the other (yay!). We're having a family holiday next year with my mum and her partner, my sis and her's, and us with our 3 children! It's my mum's 50th next year so she wants us all together on holiday. I also want to get her a nice expensive watch too (I've got a while to save up) Any suggestions anyone?

BTW Where did you get your baby toiletries from Chacha?

33 weeks! x x x

ChaCha · 14/09/2005 12:13

It's quiet here this morning.
Am feeling better now. Pregnancy has been such a rollercoaster ride for me.

Rodeo - The baby organics are from ebay!! They have some starting at 99p right now, just watch the P&P but you'd still be getting a bargain. 2 more boxes arrived this morning - brand new in box, am v.happy with them.

Just checked my account and the harsh reality of not earning anymore is sinking in. Am going to have to cancel some of our Direct Debits and be extra frugal with household bills etc..
In fact, another to do on the list!

How and where is everyone?

Enthusia · 14/09/2005 12:24

Cor it is really quiet here today.

Glad you are feeling better ChaCha, have you managed to catch up on some of your sleep from last night? The baby organics sounds great, I have gone for normal Johnson and Johnson and Tescos own!

Just gone on another spending spree on ebay and have bid for some Lamaze bits. When I was at school and uni I did some research into the use of bold black and white images and some of the other theories Lamaze use as a basis for their toys. I was really impressed with the results back then so thought it was worth splashing out 99p on a few items - don't know how much they'll be at the end though! Have also bid on some new hand knitted cardigans (sorry to let the side down on the knitting front ) only 99p for 3 so far and I won a changing bag which is like a rucksack - it is brown leather and has a messy bag, changing mat, bottle holders and a handbag area all for only £6 including postage (apparently it was £40 in Mothercare last year).

Right back to cleaning!

afternoon all,
cor had a bad experience this morning although it sounds quite funny now.Was walking round tesco doing shopping then had really bad tummy pain, so stood in veg section thinking is this labour, waters about to break or diaorhea????
got very strange looks from all in veg section(mad pg woman clutching bump)then left trolley to run for loo. Glad to say it is only bad colic and not labour. It is really funny now im home but at the time i did have a bit of a panic.
weather here today is very chilly!! here comes autumn.
ah well must go and put washing away

ChaCha · 14/09/2005 13:12

Twinkle - Can I LOL at your post? (Too late I already did) Just having visions of onlookers in the veg section wondering what the heck is going on. Are you okay now? Had similar feelings last night when suffering with back pain.

Enthusia - Great bargain again, well done!

Have a thing about cheese & tomato omelettes these days so off to cook one! Yummmmsy.

twinkle1 · 14/09/2005 13:18

feel free to have a good giggle chacha. I find it very funny now. Thankfully i feel a lot better now,i laid in a nice warm bath for an hour when i got home and that seems to have done the trick
they never tell you about this at antenatal classes.

BEKsmum · 14/09/2005 14:27

Afternoon girls, well done Enthusia for starting a new thread, very organised.

Have had a nice morning as it's my nephews 4th birthday so he had a little party then I took Ben to school for the afternoon, will pick him up later and take him to play at a friends for an hour then back to see his cousin again for an hour or so. His social life is far more hectic than mine ever is!

Welcome aboard Karma, we're a friendly lot, hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. Sorry to hear about your accident, it must have been very frightening.

Twinkle poor you, glad you're feeling better now, I've had a few strange twinges myself lately and thought "oh god no". I am having a lot of very strong braxton hicks in the afternoons/evenings now, I just hope bump is planning to stay put for a few more weeks as I'm far from ready for it to put in an arrival and I'm enjoying the peace of having ben at pre-school far too much!

Bob I agree with you I don't like Percy Pigs either so we can be outsiders on this one together - have thing for Cadbury Twirls, personally at the moment!

Right best go and do something constructive, speak to you all soon Beks (31+3)

KristinaM · 14/09/2005 14:33

Twinkle - i didnt knwo preg woman got colic - only babies!!! Sounds nasty - are you ok now?

Welcome Karma - hope you are Ok too after your accident. For future reference, if you wet yourself you need to smell your knickers!!!! sorry if TMI!!!! If it smells sweet like....ahem...semen, then its ammniotic fluid.

Enthusia - glad to hear you liked the hospital. i agree with the others - go for the single room if you can. But then, I'm a bit antisocial - would rather get home asap. I guess it depends how much support you have - my Dh is brilliant and looks after me really well. And I hate hospital food, noise, heat, dirty showers & loos, beds etc. And i am very freaked by all the bleeding after childbirth and prefer to drip blood over the floor/bed/shower in the privacy of my own home!!! . ( can you tell I've only had one period in the last 2 1/2 years??? absence does not make the heart grow fonder )

Since I am being so opinionated, thought i would say that i think your Mw is talking crap to say that you should stay in hospital until BF is established. That would be about 6 weeks at least!!!! Your milk doesnt even come in until about day 3 so you will just be doing small feeds of colostrum. Sorry to rant but I think this kind of advice from "experts" leaves mothers with totally unreasonable expectations
( prepares to be shot down by twinkle rushing to the defence of the profession)

KristinaM · 14/09/2005 14:35

Agree becks - cadbury's is the best, down with percy

Enthusia · 14/09/2005 14:52

Kristina - thanks for all the info. Was only reading this morning about the difference in smell between wee and amniotic fluid and was sitting there thinking,'what the hell does sweet wee smell like?' Just couldn't get my head around what it would smell like at all, and had this vision of me getting DH to smell my knickers - much better to know it smells something like semen - not that obviously I go around smelling that often either

Also about the feeding thing, I wasn't sure what she exactly meant at the time by 'established feeding' as I thought that feeding changed after a week or so (or so I've read) as baby gets into either own routine or yours, this can't happen in hospital can it? Was nice to know I wasn't going to get kicked out straight away though, although I amy chose this at the time!

Got a bit scared reading your post though - do you really bleed that much? Have not really been told about that bit yet, no one ever seems to tell you about after do they? Mind you my antenatal doesn't start til tomorrow, maybe they do cover it then.

Ok, just dribbling on now, will leave you in peace!

ChaCha · 14/09/2005 15:01

Hi Beks - Nice to see you!

Kristina - I had to laugh at your 'down with Percy' he hee!! I may join that club as i doubt they are vegeterian. Up with Cadbury's!

How are BoB and Nova today?

ChaCha · 14/09/2005 15:03

Enthusia I haven't even gotten half way through your post..I had to tell you that I am ROFL - literally!!! Toooo funny, i like a good giggle and have had plenty on here this morning. You and your knicker carry on!!!

rodeo1 · 14/09/2005 15:19

Hi Girls!

Had some brill news today! Got a letter today saying I've been underpaid on my tax credits and I got a lump sum put in my bank account this morning! Yippee!

So I've done a bit of shopping today and have got my pushchair and matching carseat (a quinny zapp with a maxi-cosi cabrio carseat for those pushchair maniacs out there!) And I splurged out on a amby baby nest too. I've had my eye on them and they've had great reports on MN. So just waiting for deliveries now!! How exciting! Thats all I need in the way of larger baby items, only need mundane items now such as maternity towels and muslin sheets!

Chacha, I bought some Baby Organic bath milk yesterday from Boots!! Smells gorge so I'm going to have a look on ebay. Was it a specific seller or are there lots of them? Brill!

Right better go ad pick dd up from school, speak to you later x x x

ChaCha · 14/09/2005 15:38

Hiya Rodeo - It's the 'Little Me' Baby Organic range (available at Boots) just type in the title and ebay will give you some sellers. Go for the gift boxes, some of these retail at 10-15pounds and you can get for as little as 99p!!!
I've been sent the purple stuff (lavendar i think) and some red stuff (smells a lot nicer IMHO) but all is good.
Happy Bidding and let me know if you get a good deal x

goldenoldie · 14/09/2005 15:43

You lot have put me right off my Percy Pigs with all your knicker sniffing.

Scan today. Each twin is just under 1.3 kilos, which I'm told is fine for 28 weeks.

Getting a bit fed up with complete strangers coming up to me and saying - 'not long now eh?' and looking at me in horror when I say November..............
