Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

neenewps I was looking at bio yesterday and it said not to use it until after the 3rd trimester. You have to be really careful what essential oils you use in the first 3 months (basically only citrus).

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 02/11/2010 12:26

The chemist should be able to tell you which ones are safe to use Moufflon

NurseSunshine · 02/11/2010 12:27

I'm using [http://www.boots.com/en/Palmer-s-Cocoa-Butter-Formula-Tummy-Butter-for-Stretch-Marks-125g_856554/?CAWELAID=334516519&cm_mmc=Shopping%20Engines--Google%20Base----_-Palmers%20Cocoa%20Butter%20Formula%20Tummy%20Butter%20for%20Stretch%20Marks%20125g this] neenwps. For suggestions of things to do, walks, go to fave coffee place and read book whilst eating large slab of double triple chocolate cake, window shop cute little baby clothes and things you would buy if you had unlimited supplies of moolah. To be honest I'd spend most of it sleeping. But noooo I have to go to uni and try and bloody concentrate on things GRRRR Wink Grin

Wow chocbiscuits well done on the ham sarnies. Meat makes me retch atm. I managed a cheese sarnie yesterday but only because I dreampt about one during my midday nap!

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 12:30

Ahh Cep brilliant!!!! Grin Grin Can't wait to see my jellybean! Not had anything through about a scan yet, but my booking appointment with the midwife is Thursday so I may jolly them along then.

Just been to the loo and have some brown discharge, I know it's not meant to be anything to worry about unless there is loads and it is fresh blood, but it's still worrying, if you know what I mean. I'll be keeping an eye on it and hopefully it will not come to anything.

Neenewps I hadn't even thought about moisturising / bio oil yet, but you've made me think that maybe I should be! I was quite lucky last pg and did not get too many stretch marks, but I am quite big anyway and have a wide array of old ones, so it was just a case of a few more to add to the pile Grin. I used almond oil with some (safe) essential oils mixed in last time. If I can find the mix recipe anywhere I may make up the same again, and obviously post the recipe on here. It smelt amazing and worked out cheaper than using pre-bought pregnancy body oils, although the outlay was a bit more as you had to go and buy all the oils. TMI alert - I also used almond oil for massage for helping to stretch the perinium the few weeks leading up to D-DayBlush.

NurseSunshine · 02/11/2010 12:30

Ooops bad linkage there!

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 12:34

Oh, Mouffloncake, I had thrush a couple of weeks ago. The pharnmacist told me it is not safe to use the pessaries during proegnancy but okay to use the external cream.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 02/11/2010 12:35

eating large slab of double triple chocolate cake

I am now drooling. I'm not going to be able to rest until I mind me some of this cake.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 02/11/2010 12:36

find not mind

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 12:58

PS I'm surprised no-one in work has guessed yet. Have always been quite a healthy eater, but just returned from the shop with a box of Ritz crackers and some salt and vinegar Hula Hoops for "lunch". I've gone right off sweet stuff as well... it's savoury snacks all the way Grin

neenewps · 02/11/2010 13:02

Thanks for that nursesunshine I now fancy a huge piece of cake! Thanks also for the suggestions on things to do. As soon as I know what is happening with my work I will be able to relax and maybe will do some volunteering work or study something... need to keep busy otherwise my brain goes into overdrive!!

8rubberduckies try not to worry about the discharge. Is it coming up to 8 weeks for you? Maybe it is something to do with that?? Defo keep a close eye on it though..
Would love to see your oil recipe as and when... someone just told me about rubbing oil 'down there'.... I had no idea Blush

mouffloncake I hope you get over the thrush. I used to get recurrent thrush and it drove me crackers. I'm praying I don't get it during pregnancy. Have you tried using natural live yogurt??

neenewps · 02/11/2010 13:03

Oh I will also maybe get some of the cocoa butter nursesunshine

I do love my savoury food. I just had a leftover from a chicken pie I made the other night.. much to my DH fury :) well I am pregnant darling :o

IssyStark · 02/11/2010 13:20

Great news supersunnyday and cep.

Let's hope knackered makes it three for three :)

clench234 · 02/11/2010 13:28

Bugger, hadn't read the bio oil info, have been rubbing it in liberally for past 6 months. Am going to tell myself they are just erring on the cautious side as they can't be using anything that isn't allowed in the rest of pregnancy as it is marketing as for use during pregnancy.
Got hideous stretch marks in last 2 pregnancies and was too lazy to put any lotion on regularly. Stomach has finally returned to normal colour (although not consistency!) so am determined to avoid tiger stripes this time!
Cep - fantastic news.
And hello to everyone else, I love catching up on everyone's news. Sorry I'm not very good at replying to everyone individually, still feeling sick all the time unless I'm eating so concentrating is tricky...

clench234 · 02/11/2010 13:29

Marketed, doh!

takethatlady · 02/11/2010 13:52

Does thrush matter in pregnancy? I'm taking keflex for my urine infection and think it might be giving me thrush, which is a side effect ... grrrrrrrrrrrr!

So excited for the ladies who have had happy scans today. Congratulations!

Can't get through to my midwife for my booking in appointment. Phoned her twice a day on Thursday, Friday, yesterday and today, and it says not to leave a message but to call another number and leave a pager message with the 'agent'. I have tried using every number I can think of when I ring the pager but all the agents do is say they're 'invalid'. So have now left a message on the midwife's phone, which has probably pissed her off.

Grrrr. Angry

This is an angry post! Sorry!

mrshedgie · 02/11/2010 13:58

Well, ladies, I'm sorry I've not been posting...just haven't been up to it. I've had a second gallbladder attack after just recovering from the last one, and a bout of sickness (probably partly pregnancy related).I've got to try to deal with this for the next 6 months...hopefully avoid another pain attack by eating very low fat..if not, maybe they will surgically remove my gallbladder.
I came home from hospital last night and found out that my dear Nan passed away the morning I went into hospital...so this is all tough at the moment.I wanted this pregnancy to be a joyous time, but at the moment I'm going through a bit of a trial. Will keep you up to date on what's happening.

Still, I have to keep this in perspective and remember that I've got a little one to look forward to in spite of suffering and illness. That's something to be thankful for, isn't it?

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 14:21

Mrshedgie sorry to hear about your Nan, that's so sad, and especially at such a happy time for you. I can't imagine what it's like to be so ill when pg either, and, on a lighter note, to only be able to eat low fat Wink. Keep strong, and rant away at us if need be!

misshoohaa · 02/11/2010 14:46

Hi everyone!
Firstly so sad to hear about janice & beesok and poor Lily Allen too.

Congrats to those ladies that have had positive scans congrats!

mrshedgie poor you! I had gallstones for a year and then took the plunge and got my gall bladder removed earlier this year. They are the pits aren't they! Especially as I imagine your pain meds must be effected by being pregnant. Hot water bottles on my back helped me. Rest up and hopefully they'll stay put for the next 7 months!

So exciting that some of us are on the final stretch now, 12 weeks doesn't seem quite so far away!
I have my booking appointment tomorrow, do I need to fill out the green form before I go?

yellowtomato · 02/11/2010 15:06

Afternoon all

What a busy morning it has been on here!

Huge congrats to supersunny and cep so exciting to see the piccies. So happy for you both.

Nursesunshine sorry, I got muddled! Hurrah for the m/w appt next week

nomorechoc it is bizarre, I am waking up an hour earlier too. I don't remember having this problem before. I usually sleep until I'm woken but am awake at 6am every day now. grrr

moufflon the canesten website recommends seeing the dr but I reckon the pharmacist will be able to tell you what is safe.

rubberduckies any type of discharge (or anything out of the ordinary) is scary right now but being brown and only a bit sounds like a good sign. How far along are you/do you have a scan planned?

mrshedgie so sorry to hear about gallbladder and about your Nan. Sound like a tough time right now for you. Hope you are managing too rest ok.

So who is next for scanning? knackered today and then???

I have another one in 9 days and it can't come soon enough for me. I still only have sore boobs as evidence, they are not every really much bigger. I need more signs!

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 15:17

Yellowtomato I am about 6 1/2 weeks, so it would be around the right time for a tiny show of blood. Not seen any more since, which is good. I have not had a date through for scan yet, got my first midwife appointment on Thursday so I will hassle enquire then.

PS. In the nicest possible way, I hope you're feeling as sick as a dog soon Yellow Grin

yellowtomato · 02/11/2010 15:25

rubberduckies tee hee thanks for the sickness wishes!

Glad there has not been anymore blood, good plan to hassle for scan on Thurs. I think they are normally booked at least 3 weeks in advance so you want to get your date in the diary.

cameli · 02/11/2010 15:31

Well I have some good news ladies. Just been for my 4th scan and everything is good :o

I am now 10+3 so my EDD has moved from 2 June (according to LMP) to 31 May (scan at 8 weeks) to 28 May now!

Nuchal scan booked for 22 November & i WILL be 13+2 (trying to think positive as i know the odds are in my favour now)

Im sorry for those of you who have had bad news & to those who are not feeling great.

Good luck to those of you who are waiting for scans - sending you all positive vibes.

x

broughthimroundtotheidea · 02/11/2010 15:38

Hi everyone.
I have had some brown discharge today too rubberduckies I am being cheered a little by the news of cep who also had this so lets keep out fingers crossed it works out good for us too x x

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 15:47

broughthimaround let's stay positive together! I had two seperate incidences of bleeding when pg with my ds, so am well practised at panicking and spending the whole of the first trimester scared to death. I am dtermined not to this time, even if the bleeding gets worse.

Both times I bled I was on holiday on my own travelling around NZ, so if it happens again this time I will be just glad that I'm at home with my family and dp to support me, as it was an awful thing to go through on my own.

shocked23 · 02/11/2010 15:54

Hi ladies, can I join you? I've just found out I'm due with my 3rd child on 30 June but seeing as both my others were 11 and 14 days early I'm hoping it'll be around mid June. I'm 5+4 and have an awful headache that I can't shift. Anyone else had that? Xx
