Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Sarahmumtobe · 02/11/2010 16:42

Dear cep and supersunnyday so glad to hear of your scans. It has been quite an emotional time, and my thoughts are with Janice and Beesok. I got quite worried last night since I'd had some brown spotting last week that I hadn't posted about and my sicky feel seemed to disappear v quickly over the last 24 hours so I booked an early private scan for today and saw the heartbeat. It is 11mm long and they have dated me at 7+3 instead of 8+1. They also found a large cyst on my left ovary which they said to mention to my GP but shouldn't cause a problem. Sorry if I have missed lots of posts but tuned straight into ceps and supersunny, but will go back now and catch up!

yellowtomato · 02/11/2010 17:02

welcome shocked no I haven't had any headaches but haven't had any symptoms at all so someone more helpful may be along soon! And congratulations......

Sarah congrats on the scan....so exciting to see that heartbeat.

sasamaxx · 02/11/2010 17:52

Petitech - glad we're having identical symptoms. Also really glad that week 9 was the worst for your friend and then it got better - I'm really struggling at the moment.
Fruity ice lollies - never thought of those and definitely appeals Smile

Beesok and Janice - what fab ladies you are. Your posts are so lovely. Hope you both heal quickly and get lots of love and support. Keep in touch.

Barbie - bloomin eck - hyperemesis. Hope you are resting as much as possible. What a horrible toxic sounding lady. Most bullies are jealous of you - she must be terrible unfulfilled in her life. Be strong.

Brilliant news supersunnyday cameli and cep - you both must be delighted.

I was watching This Morning today and was thinking 'mmmm Holly looks pregnant' - lol

Nursesunshine - fab that you have your booking appt. My first one was at my house - no idea why!

nomorechocbiscuits - the bit that gets me is when they get their figure back in 6 weeks and say they just 'ate healthily' and 'exercised gently' - as IF!!! Or when they climb mountains or do the inka trail when the baby is 6 months - I can't even get out by myself for a coffee when the baby is 6 months.

mrshedgie sorry you're having it so tough at the moment. Hang in there.

Welcome to the thread shocked23 and congrats on BFP

I'm getting really quite depressed now about the sickness and exhaustion - I'm wishing the days away and clock-watching all day Sad
I did manage to eat some dinner tonight though which was a bonus.

NurseSunshine · 02/11/2010 17:56

Congrats Shocked yes I had terrible headaches around 6-7 weeks but they've gone now. Normal apparently Sad

Congratulations Sarah, that's great news.

Barbielovesken why on earth is your gp "against" anti emetics?! That's ridicuous. Would he prefer you to suffer on and potentially end up dehydrated? I'd go to see another doctor at the practice and ask to be prescribed promethazine, prochlorperazine or metclopramide which are all safe for short term use in pregnancy (from the BNF).

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/11/2010 18:21

Cep & Supersunny - great news on the scan!!

MrsHedgie - sorry to hear about your nan Sad

Welcome Shocked!

And more great news for you to Carmeli. Are you feeling more relaxed now?

Broughtmeround - hope everything is okay, brown discharge is quite common, so hopefully nothing to worry about!

knackered76 · 02/11/2010 18:22

Well hello all and welcome shocked. I did suffer from a headache around 5/6 weeks that lasted for 4 days and thought was going to kill me but it did eventually go away and I haven't had once since!

Went to the scan feeling like I was going to take an exam but apart from that thought I was coping relatively okay. Then went in and sat on the bed and told her about the mmc and practically fell apart Blush - must keep emotions in check more effectively!

Anyhoo, just 1, 1 heartbeat (going like the clappers apparently!) and measuring a couple of days ahead of my lmp dates. Bob even managed a wiggle for me (although admittedly looked more like a kidney bean doing a dance!). So am now 9+3, hooray! As far as I can remember it's a 98/99% chance this will be fine now so feeling relived but still a bit anxious after last time. There's no pleasing some people :)

MrsHedgie so sorry you're having such a rough time :(

Sarah - hooray for a positive scan :)

Have a nice evening all. I'm off to sit on my arse while DH sorts the children and then I might eat lots of food while watching rubbish tv!

sasamaxx · 02/11/2010 18:26

And more congratulations to Sarahmumtobe and knackered76

NurseSunshine · 02/11/2010 18:50

Well done and congratulations Knackered Grin

milliemuffin · 02/11/2010 18:51

Shocked23 is now Milliemuffin again.

I was on a 'Due December 2009' group so you never know some of you might know me from there if any of you are crazy enough to be having another already!

I have a 3 year old and a nearly one year old so I'm definitely going to have my hands full next year!! xx

catherineps · 02/11/2010 18:53

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to people with good news :) It's a real emotional rollercoaster on here, but I second whoever said what a lovely supportive group.

So sorry Janice and beesok. Love and tlc to you both.

C x

NurseSunshine · 02/11/2010 18:58

Milliemuffin I'm surprised anyone does this more than once AT ALL!

Evening all......fantastic news for all those with scans today.
mrshedgie sorry about your nan and that you are having such a rough time.
Nothing really for me to report today but new symptoms on top of my gynormous boobs is nipples......OMG are they sensitive and sticking out LOL
nursesunshine my mw is doing my booking in at home too, she said its so that there is no interruptions and we can go through everything properly

takethatlady · 02/11/2010 19:27

Anyone got back cramps like period pains? Hmm

knackered76 · 02/11/2010 19:35

takethatlady - I did a week or so ago. Seemed to be on and off for half a day and then went. I was paranoid it was the beginning of something as I had back ache with both labours but consoled myself with the fact there was nothing going on around the front. If you are still having them tomorrow or are worried then go and see your gp/midwife.

3kidsandbump · 02/11/2010 19:38

Hello everyone.

Have been lurking for a little while, but thought I had better join! Am due about the 24th June with my 4th.

Am preparing myself for a crazy year - have DD - 4yrs, DS1 - 3yrs, DS2 - 4 months!!

Like a couple of others I have had a really tiny bit of spotting the last couple of days, so am hoping that this doesn't progress into anything. Even though this is my 4th, I've never had any of this with the other 3, so just have my fingers crossed that everything is ok at the moment.

moomin156 · 02/11/2010 19:45

Are you mad 3kidsandbump???!!!!......congrats on the BFP

Want2bSupermum · 02/11/2010 19:49

The ms is somewhat under control now. My obn nurse is fantastic and has been doing weekly phone calls with me. I gained 2lbs last week and the nurse was concerned. Here in the US they don't like you gaining more than 30lbs unless you are underweight. You are not supposed to gain weight in your 1st trimester...

Her advice has def helped to reduce my ms so I thought I would share her pearls of wisdom:

1 - Try to mix starchy foods such as bananas, whole wheats, rye, brown rice cakes etc but to not have white bread or processed foods. She also said to try veg such as carrots, sweet potato, turnip, swede and parsnips as afternoon foods.
2 - Split your food for the day into 6 portions and eat every 2-3 hours. Make sure you are not eating more than 250 calories in each little meal.
3 - Try drinking warm water instead of cold water and drink a glass an hour and a glass after eating.
4 - Take a pregnancy vitamin plus DHA in the evening or whenever you have less nausea.
5 - Eat something as soon as you wake up. Nurse suggested a banana and I now put on on my nightstand when going to bed along with a glass of water.
6 - Walk at least 3 miles a day.

I am doing all 1-5 and I guess I do 6 because I walk our dog. The constant MS has reduced a lot and I feel much better.

3kidsandbump · 02/11/2010 20:14

Moomin yes I probably am a bit mad!! We had an 11 month gap between our first 2 (now 4 and 3) and although it is hard in the first year, it is so much easier in the long run, as now they are both at the same stage, and play brilliantly together!

Oh and DH is 40 this year, so we decided if we were having another one then we wanted it to be sooner rather than later . This is definately our last though Sad

GoodVibrations · 02/11/2010 20:25

Mummynumber2 sorry you had a scare but really pleased all is well

Barbie completely understand your situation at work. I didn?t raise a grievance against my boss in the end as things have improved (she found out that I was planning to raise a grievance so I think that it actually made her realise she couldn?t get away with it). I still don?t trust her at all and she is a nasty piece of work, but the pg is really helping to just keep my head down and count the days.... Really hope you don?t have much trouble from your boss when you go back (keep thinking mat leave! :)). Sorry you?re still feeling rotten but hopefully now you know what it is that?s some help (I?ve seen a few mn threads on hyperemesis and what meds have helped)

mrshedgie gosh bereavement and gallbladder attack, poor you what a rough time

rubberduckies and broughthimround Fingers crossed for you both that it is nothing to worry about

stargirl, supersunny, cep, cameli, sarah and knackered massive congrats on the scans, what a relief and great news today

shocked and 3kids congrats and welcome!

I have good news aswell. My scan was fine, little bean is 4.3cm and wriggling around nicely. I'm 11 weeks now so only 1 week to go :) Am very happy tonight Grin Had a bit of a blip arriving at the maternity ward, as it's next to neonatal and had flashbacks of last birth, not good memories for me. I'll be having growth scans this time at 28 and 34 weeks to check bean is growing, seems such a long way off.

Hope everyone else is ok tonight

8rubberduckies · 02/11/2010 20:30

Evening everyone, hope you're having a wonderfully chilled night. Welcome to 3kids and Milliemuffin and congratulations!

I haven't had any more blood today, but am now getting period-type cramps, so am getting anxious. DP is out so curled up on sofa trying to take my mind off of it. I can't believe I've got another 5 1/2 weeks until I hit the safe mark, and no idea when the scan's going to be!

Want2be your nurse would be disgusted by me today! Grin. I have felt sick all day, and in addition to my "healthy" lunch of crisps and ritz crackers, I have had 3 crumpets and marmite and a Muller rice for tea Blush. Looked in the fridge earlier at all the healthy food I stocked up on yesterday and don't fancy any of it Sad. If this is anything like my first pg though I couldn't get enough veg later on in pg.

Congratulations to all with Good News today, am really pleased things are looking up on here! Smile

moomin156 · 02/11/2010 20:45

Wow goodvibrations you are 11 weeks already.....i am very jealousEnvy and so wonderful that someone is heading towards the safety zone. 8+2 for me today and i think i am going to announce to the world next week. I have a few AL days and will then say when i am back at 9+4. Its getting harder to cover it up at work as there are some risks that i cant do sofar i have managed to avoid but how long i can do that for i dont know. Apparantly the rumours are out anyway ( but everyone did know we were trying)so there will be noone completely shocked. I feel a bit scared really which is why i havent done it sooner, if something bad happens they will all know anyway, its mad really.
Do you tell a few and await the news to spread or do i do a big announcement. I manage an area with around 40 staff.......what are others going to do???

BarbieLovesKen · 02/11/2010 20:51

neenewps I will selflessly allow you to come over and do my housework if you'd like? honestly - I wont mind? Grin

MrsHedgie, was only thinking of you today and that we hadnt heard from you for a while. Im so sorry your having such a horrible time, God, you are really going through the mill, you poor thing. Really hope things pick up for you soon but think you have a good frame of mind in that - yes, you have the most fabulous time to look forward to.

Cameli delighted to hear all is well - my dates were moved too and we're now both due on the 28th May!! [grins]

rubberducks and broughthimround hope your both ok. Am sure everything is fine - as you know brown blood is old blood.

MillieMuffin (welcome!) really, really feel sorry for you with headache. With both dd and ds I suffered terribly from migrane in the first trimester. Unfortunately doctor told me all I could take was some paracetamol - doesnt do a whole lot when you've such a pain (I really wanted solpadeine or neurofen!!) to be honest I cant advise much, it will go, its something to do with added blood pressure pumping around (or something, I think?), to try bear it, I found sleeping in very very dark rooms where possible, head massages from my dh and baths where Id put my head under the water for ages so it felt more weight less. My ds was born in January 2010 so Im as crazy as you are Grin

Sasamaxx and Supersunny thank you so much for your lovely message and sympathy Smile just what I needed!!.

Sasamaxx Im sorry to hear your so ill and can completely understand how deflating/ depressing it is putting up with round the clock sickness/ tiredness - I have been known to cry (in front of others!!! Blush) lately. All I can say is its fairly likely you will start to feel better soon, I just hope the time flies by for you.

Nursesunshine I dont know! and Im finding it really frustrating to be honest. He was the same over my ADs - no concern about me quitting cold turkey despite my being very anxious. Hes very, very anti - prescriping anything during pregnancy and while I would usually agree, there are times when they are genuinely warranted. He said I may have to do the odd stint in hospital on a drip incase I get dehydrated Hmm which I tried to explain is impossible for me as I've 2 small children at home and a husband who works full time. Oh well. Thank you for your concern. I really appreciate it.

Ooh knackered Im so pleased for you!! and PML at Bob - thats the best one ever Grin

takethatlady I always get period type pains in pregnancy. I remember completely panicing when I got them with dd (my first), went to the Doc and he explained this is completely normal - mostly just everything stretching and getting ready .. so its a good thing!

3kidsandbump huge congratulations and welcome. Hope the spotting subsides very soon and all is ok. Looking forward to chatting.

So thoughtful of you to post tips wanttobe thank you so much. Will try some - although, in all honestly, cant see me walking 3 miles any time soon!! Grin getting off the couch is an effort these days Grin

So think I have found something I can keep down!! cup of soups oddly enough - no other type of soup - has to be not healthy powdered type but honestly, if its staying down I honestly dont care!!!

Balletpink · 02/11/2010 21:11

Hi all... so can't keep up with this thread! (a common cry). Hello & welcome to all the new names on the thread!

Feeling very sick and tummy is really growing, I have to remember to pull it in at work if I think anyone is looking at it [paranoid] as I don't want to tell work til at least 12 weeks and preferably as late as possible. Has anyone seen Knocked Up where she is 8months pg with an enormous bump before admitting she is actually pg? That'll be me! Grin Have told family so far though.

Have registered with the MW so should get an appointment through in the next few weeks, can't wait.

GoodVibrations · 02/11/2010 21:17

Very excited as the NHS pregnancy book they gave me at the hospital says rare steak is ok, hurray!!! Grin Grin
