Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

OMG yellowtomato I joked about the fact that you could have twins!!! Am I physic cause I also joked about me having twins too- eeek!

yellowtomato · 29/10/2010 16:27

Yes Clarkiee eeeek indeed! I've put that thought to the back on my mind though because it wouldn't be the worst option. I know I've only just had one scan but as it's still so early days I can't wait till the next one. Never satisfied!

I went to so many shops this afternoon looking for maternity tights and couldn't find any. My tummy is a bit too big in the evenings now and tights feel too erm tight! (must be the twins! Grin ) I tried Dorothy Perkins, H&M, Next, M&S, John Lewis, Boots......does anyone have any ideas?

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 29/10/2010 16:30

Yellow are you near a Mothercare at all? I was eyeballing some in there a few days back. Or can you find any online?

Humania · 29/10/2010 16:31

yellowtomato from what I've read on here most maternity tights apart from the really expensive ones are completely pants. Most people seem to recommend buying normal tights 1 or 2 sizes to big and wearing them back to front!

Humania · 29/10/2010 16:32

Actually you're right a few people did recommend the Mothercare ones...

yellowtomato · 29/10/2010 16:51

The problem I have is that I've got really short legs......so I'm concerned because tights are generally in small, medium and large. I usually have medium and I was just worried that large would be far too long and baggy.....will have a look online.

Or i'll try the 'back to front' tip. I'm not sure if you can even take tights back if they don't fit......

Hello everyone, got my scan date today for 18th Nov - everything seems so far away.

The nausea is better, now just having off-days rather than constant burping, drooling and carrying a mixing bowl around the house just in case!

To the person who posted yesterday about eating cheese and onion sandwiches, I made dp get out of bed a 10.30pm to make me one, thank you, it was just the job :)

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

DaisyFields · 29/10/2010 17:23

So sorry about lobster's sad news x

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 17:24

humania I was feeling particularly down about ms when I wrote the other thread and am a bit embarrassed about it now! I just hoping that it won't last much longer.

On a better note I had another scan today (I've been having them weekly since week 5 and am 8+ 3 today) and for the first time it actually looks like a baby! You can see it's tiny arms and legs, and even it's eyes, it was the most amazing thing! Makes the ms worthwile I suppose. I've also been given the all clear to return to work next week but still no sex, baths or lifting. Baths being the only one of those things I'm missing!

Hello baby1ahhh. You'd think from this thread that it was normal to have scans earlier than 12 weeks! Is there anyone here that's not had or having one?

neenewps · 29/10/2010 17:33

I'm not going to have an early scan mummynumber2

Simply because like clarkiee this is my first pregnancy and haven't had any previous problems. I also need to save my pennies as with my work I get very poor maternity pay and am already on less money than usual since I had to tell my work I am pregnant!

I am feeling very sick today but haven't physically been sick yet. Had to go food shopping earlier and boy was it difficult!!

baby1ahhh · 29/10/2010 17:35

Im a bit shocked to be honest. GP wasnt interested, receptionist told me MW would contact me around 8-10 weeks for our inital chat. I thought that meant id have a scan but obviously not. (so naiive)
Spoken to my OH about private scan but hes not crazy about the idea, he said what clarkiee said - 'what will be will be' and as its our 1st pg we have no real reason to be so terrified. I do have a potentially incompetent cervix due to extensive biopsies so maybe that will sway them to scan me earlier.

neenewps · 29/10/2010 17:38

I think the GP thing is just some kind of paper pushing exercise tbh!! I really didn't see the point in me going to the GP - she was lovely and said congrats etc but then just gave me the midwife number and I had to arrange the appointments myself.

My scan btw is on my birthday - 14th December. Seems ages away and as I am due right at the end of June I feel like I have to wait ages after most of you ladies on here Envy

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 17:41

I'm only having mine early because I conceived on a 9 week cycle, so I'll get it 12-13 weeks after my LMP but I'll only be 7-8 weeks pregnant at that point.

My back ache was caused by a urine/kidney infection, for which I now have antibiotics. Phew. What with trapped wind, cystitis, google and an overactive imagination I've had a stupid week! Going to try to be calm and sane next week Grin. That's an inane, mental grin, not a happy one Grin

baby1ahhh · 29/10/2010 17:42

Ill be due right at end of june too, 12 weeks on 12th december so hopefully my scan will be around the same time as yours neenewps I cant wait to see our peanut. Ill have no fingernails left at this rate.

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 17:45

That could have it's advantages neenewps. You'll always have some idea of what to expect from people who are a few weeks ahead of you. Although I can see that at times that could be a bad thing, sometimes I'm sure it's best not to know! I'm due beginning of June and am tempted to do a bit of lurking on the due in may thread!

neenewps · 29/10/2010 17:46

Oh dear takethatlady I know how they feel and it's not nice. Good job you have some antibiotics to sort it out quickly. Are urine infections common in pregnancy??

baby1ahhh I too can't wait.. I have luckily got the appointment first thing in the morning too so I don't have to wait all day - yippppeeeee :o

sasamaxx · 29/10/2010 17:47

mummynumber2 I'm not intending to have an early scan.

Just had a Domino's - was delicious. It was just the ticket after the terrible exhausted day I've had completely unable to cope with moaning kids.

Welcome baby1ahhh and anyone else I've missed.

baby1ahhh · 29/10/2010 17:48

Dominos, wow. Drooling..........

neenewps · 29/10/2010 17:48

mummynumber2 I didn't think of it like that... :o 2 of my close friends are also pregnant but one is due on Sunday and the other is due in January so when I have told them my aches and pains etc, I have got the knowing nod from them :)

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 17:49

It must be so hard to wait 12 weeks. Although of course I'm not glad I've had the problems I have to warrant weekly scans I'm so relieved that I have the reassurance every week. I hope the time goes quickly for you.

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 18:01

newneeps yes, I think urine infections are common. I have one anyway! Hope you're feeling better soon 'takethatlady*.

Right, I've got to make supper for my dsc's. Know I'm going to puke looking in the kitchen though. Do I a) get dsd1 to cook something from the freezer, she's been great but really feel bad about her having to do everything! B) order take away, leave them to it and risk it stinking the house out, making me sick and unable to go downstairs again tonight or C) brave the kitchen myself, risking sickness!

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 18:05

Actually I'm ranting all over MN at the moment because I was diagnosed with a urine infection a week ago at A&E, and I only mentioned it to the doctor by chance yesterday, and now it has developed into a kidney infection which means higher risk of miscarriage, complications in foetal development, and all sorts. So fucked off I can barely speak Angry

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 18:06

I mean, angry with the hospital for not giving me antibiotics there and then, when it hadn't progressed into a kidney infection. Angry

Tolalola · 29/10/2010 18:09

Hello all, haven't posted since the last thread, but am still here.

I was feeling a bit smug about my lack of MS, but this morning decided to clean some revolting rotting smelly shells that DS picked up at the beach yesterday and really felt pretty queasy about it.

I haven't had a scan yet, although I guess I'd better go to the Dr next week, and I can get a dating scan the same day (all private here, so expensive, but no waiting). Think I am 7+2 now. I have to get sorted relatively soon because there is no antenatal testing offered where I live, so I'll have to travel overseas if I want any done (and I am 39, so I really do want it).

sasamaxx · 29/10/2010 18:11

takethatlady - oh no - what did A&E advise you to do at the time?
