Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

moomin I've been munching on oat cakes (biscuit type ones, not staffordshire type ones) carbs but not too many calories. The cheese ones taste best. Hmm think I might go and nibble one now Wink

mouffloncake · 29/10/2010 02:04

Hello all :)

This is my first time on this forum, I'm so glad to found you.

I'm due 6th June & really could do with some soft hugs. I feel so sick - all the time. Nothing shifts it.
I know I'm not alone tho.

Can anybody tell me when to expect 1st appointments for bloods/scan? I registered with GP 2.5 weeks ago when I was 6wks & haven't heard a peep since.
I thought she said they would start around week 9 but that's 3 days away & no sign of an appointment.

Has anybody set up a private Facebook group for June bugs?

Xx

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 29/10/2010 08:01

Welcome Moufflon!

I think it depends on your area as to how soon you book in.

Have you contacted your community MWs? Or did your GP say they would send an appointment through?

I went to my GP this week (I'm 7.5) but only because my morning sickness was really, really bad. I am going to a Antenatal clinic next Wednesday for my initial appointment.

I keep going from not hungry to absolutely ravenous, which quickly turns to nausea if I don't eat something. I have crispbreads and very light cheese spread as snacks, or plain biscuits.

Sarahmumtobe · 29/10/2010 08:10

Hi all, welcome Mouffloncake

I'm 7+4 and went to GP 2 weeks ago. Depends on the area-I'm in Somerset and I don't think I'll hear from the midwife for another couple of weeks-I expect my booking appt to be around week 11 and scan week 12.
Congratulations yellowtomato -I can't wait until my scan!
Didn't post yesterday because I had a bad day-no sleep Weds night and now my appetite has more or less gone completely. Got to work and just cried (feel v silly now) but fortunately they all know for health and safety reasons. Had a busy day at work and now facing my second weekend on call in a row. I just cannot wait until Monday-I'm so exhausted. Has anyone else gone off food-I normally have a ravenous appetite!
Sorry for the moan, Sarah

Wobblewatcher · 29/10/2010 08:41

Hi everyone, well done yellow!!

Well I'm glad I phoned in sick-feel like rubbish what with being pregnant, feeling sick and tired and having a bad cold on top. Not eating much so have no energy Sad

Got to go to bank later which I'm dreading!!!

Xx

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 29/10/2010 08:49

Huzzah my appetite is (for the moment) back and I am STARVING!! Am making a dash to the supermarket for supplies in a wee bit. Think I'll mostly stick to plain bready type food, but I'm excited about eating fruit again too.

My utter sympathy to all of you still feeling like utter rubbish, I've had a pretty bad week, so feel your pain .

I Also have my booking in appt with the midwife this afternoon which I'm quite excited about.

yellowtomato · 29/10/2010 09:11

hello everyone

Thank you so much for the congrats and support. We're not telling anyone in real life so I am so happy that I've got you guys or I'd probably explode with no-one to talk to!

Am feeling a little bruised today as it was an internal scan and let's just say she was very thorough Grin

But the other news is that they found one pregnancy sac with a heartbeat and another one without. It is too early to say at this stage, the other one may just disappear or it may be twins!!! Shock you should have seen the look on DP's face. This means that I can have another scan in 2 weeks to check what is going on. I'll be happy either way, as long as I've got at least 1.

It is a big relief although I know I'm not totally out of the woods yet, now I'm looking forward to the next scan....it never ends does it?

Really sorry for all of you that are feeling rubbish, it must be so awful and draining. i wish I could suggest something but there doesn't seem to be much you can do.

Welcome all new people.

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 09:17

igglybuff Are you from this way too? I'm probably going to Mayday Isabelle although I haven't been asked yet. I live walking distance from there and have had all my ivf and scans etc. there so far. But I've heard so many horror stories about it so to be honest I'm a bit worried! The fertility/ gyne unit is absolutely wonderful though. I'm back there today for yet another scan and am really hoping they'll say I can go back to work next week as I've only worked 2 weeks out of the last 8, going slowly mad!

That's great news yellowtomato! It must be a real relief.

On the subject of food. Is anyone else getting serious food aversions? I'm not talking about just going off things but throwing up if you allow yourself to think about them? It's really causing a problem for me as the list of things I can't bare is much longer than the list if things I can eat! I can't open the fridge without throwing up, which means I can't get to the food that I can eat. And my dsc's are coming back from spending the week with my parents this afternoon. No idea how I'm going to feed them. Dp is trying to help out more but he works very long hours including Saturdays.

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 09:20

Wow yellowtomato! That must have been a shock!

neenewps · 29/10/2010 09:30

Hi all

Hope you are all well and for those of us that are feeling pants you are looking after yourself or better still you have someone to pamper you.

yellowtomato how exciting. Glad your scan went well.. but the possibility of twins?? Wowzer :)

Well my night of conception was probably while on a blow up mattress sleeping in the kitchen!!! Too many visitors for our small place and that was the only room available!! Combined with ovulation happening we had no choice!!! HmmBlush

Igglybuff · 29/10/2010 09:34

wow yellow!

mummynumber2 I was born in thornton heath, have lived around that way for most of my childhood but now live about 20 mins from croydon. Some of my siblings were born in mayday but that was many years ago now. Does mayday have a midwife led unit? That is supposed to be nice I think.

I seem to be hungry all the time. And thirsty all the time. And no amount of eating or drinking will fix it. I also get obsessed with certain food and can't stand the idea of others.
Am getting annoyed as no scan date set yet. I went to the docs two weeks ago now! At least I have a MW appointment but not until next month Shock

as for moomin and cameli I'm impressed you have the energy!!! I've been neglecting myself and DH (I'm in bed by 9 most nights as so tired).

catherineps · 29/10/2010 09:35

wow yellowtomato! My mother-in-law has been enjoying telling me all the examples of twins in their family . . . Great that you saw a heartbeat :)

What exactly is an internal scan or do I not want to know???

yellowtomato · 29/10/2010 09:44

catherineps well it's not that bad.....and they always do it for early scans....it's like a massive vibrator with a condom on!

It doesn't hurt but it was a bit sore when she was poking high up to look at the ovaries.

Hope that is not too much info for this time of the morning Grin

sasamaxx · 29/10/2010 09:45

Welcome to the group Mouffloncake

Yellowtomato - how exciting that there's a possibility of twins!!

Mummyno2 - yep getting lots of food aversions. I'm totally off tea now, and the very thought of certain foods just makes me heave. Sometimes, obviously, the ms means that the thought of ALL food makes me heave but often once I have a bite or something, it's not too bad.

So glad it's Friday - been another tough week although not as bad as the 2 previous weeks it has to be said. 9 weeks tomorrow - whoo hoo!!!

moomin156 · 29/10/2010 09:52

Morning everyone.....OMG yellowtomato that must have been a bit of a shock, at least in 2 weeks you will have prepared yourself for the possibility.

Just had a lovely present through the post from a close friend i told at the beginning of the week.......a pregnancy book. What a nice surprise and thoughtful gift :)

moomin156 · 29/10/2010 09:57

Noticed a few regulars havent been on for a few days.....hoing everything is ok and they are just lurking in the background

TabithaTwitchet · 29/10/2010 10:18

Thanks Wobble, Cuppa and Issy.
Spotting has stopped now so feeling more positive now. These things always seem worse in the evening somehow.

I have loads of food aversions, really struggling with cooking at the moment. I even don't want to open some of the cupboards in the kitchen, just because of certain foods that are in there. And I had to take DD to MacDonalds the other day for her lunch because I couldn't even face opening the fridge Blush.

I have been drinking loads of fizzy drinks since being pregnant too, normally I can't stand them. Doubly strange as I don't really fancy anything else sweet at the moment, I just want stuff like chips and roast potatos and chilli Confused

IssyStark · 29/10/2010 10:25

yellow wonderful news - I was thinking about you last night and hoping that the lack of ews wasn't worrisome but now I can see any delay was just recovering from the shock of possibly twins!

Tabitha glad you're feeling more positive today.

I'm off for my scan at lunchtime and then doing a teaching sesion straight after but I will let everyone know how I get on. Feeling a bit off today and had an oily stool for the first time in my life this morning but a bit of googling and I see that it can be linked to the possibly progesterone supplement I'm on (and not just be pancreatic cancer!). Worth mentioning to the research nurse I think.

takethatlady · 29/10/2010 10:28

Yay for nmcb's munchies. Hope you get to eat like a pig :)

yellowtomato twins!!! How exciting (and scary). Sorry you're not feeling well wobble.

I've got really bad backache. Has anyone else had this? It's in the middle of my back and especially around my kidney area. I have had kidney infections before but it's no way as bad as that.

Boobs still hurt today but not as much as yesterday and the day before when even walking made them sore ...

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 10:35

Glad it's not just me tabatha although I really feel for you as I know how bad it is, especially when you have other children to try to feed.

I also wanted to let other sicky people know that I've found a way to ease it over the last couple of days. I've basically given up trying to have proper meals. I'm eating something very small every 2 hours. It's really not very varied but I'm managing baked potatoes, toast, Ginger nuts, tomato soup and satsumas, I actually think it's more important to keep something down than eat healthily at the moment. I'm also wearing sea bands all the time, I'm sure it's a placebo effect but they are helping too I think.

yellowtomato · 29/10/2010 10:37

Issy Good luck for your scan today, remind me how far along are you?

It's so weird hearing about these food cravings/aversions when I have nothing. Just glad I had the scan or I might think I was imagining the whole thing.

takethat sorry can't help you there but I'm a bit rubbish with no symptoms at all except sore boobs so don't think i'm a good example.

tabitha glad you are feeling better today. Every little think is worrying at this stage isn't it?

moomin what a lovely gift. I bought a book last time but I haven't dared to get it back out of the drawer where it's hidden yet...maybe after the next scan...

mummynumber2 · 29/10/2010 10:42

izzy I also took progesterone for a while but thankfully not long, it's the most duscusting thing! Gave me thrush, diarrhoea and the mort horrendous wind! In fact my stomach was so swollen up with gas I looked about 5 months pregnant before I even got my bfp! I'm not really sure what oily stool is (and I'm fairly sure I don't want to!) but I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the progesterone!

wonnaywombat · 29/10/2010 10:48

Loving hearing all the conception stories! We think it was over the Eid public holiday here in Dubai - a lovely relaxed mid-afternoon one followed by a nap. Tempted to call it Eidith if it's a girl - just kidding! We were dtd twice a day around ovulation time just to make sure so we're really not sure!

yellowtomato - what a time for you! I like your philosophy on what might happen.

Igglybluff and mummynumber - I lived 10 mins from Croydon for most of my life and my mum and dad are still there. My brother was born in Mayday many moons ago and I've a few friends who have had more recent births there with mixed experiences, but I suspect that is true of a lot of places.

Humania · 29/10/2010 10:57

Best of luck with the scan Issy

I think it's a really personal thing but the one thing I've found to really help with the nausea is sherbet lemon drops. It's fairly temporary relief but it does help a little.

I know it's a little early but I told my mum, dad and nana yesterday and they were over the moon Smile. My nana was especially emotional as all being well she'll be having her 3rd and 4th great-grandchildren within the space of 2 months. So lovely to be able to give people happy news...
