Beesok · 23/10/2010 22:22

Pregnancy symptom? Highly emotional and teary :) is anyone else experiencing this? It's ridiculous! I can't stop crying at the silliest scenes in a movie and I just cannot watch birth/breastfeeding videos - it makes me cry - i have no idea why? I'm not really thinking about birth etc and not really scared of or anything but it gets me really emotional - it embarrassing!!!

KatyOT · 23/10/2010 22:35

wonnaywombat · 24/10/2010 04:59

Morning everyone. Trust you all enjoyed your glasses of schloer last night!

sasamaxx and petitech - how are you both feeling today? A bit better I hope....

What is it with these vivid dreams?! Mine aren't necessarily baby related but just keep getting weirder and more vivid.... Confused

Hi sasamaxx, we seem to be in synch symptom wise which would fit for our EDDs! It is so exhausting isn't it, I feel like I am being a total pain in the a5s to live with too cos I'm so miserable and lethargic :(
mrsbigw so far I like the motion sickness bands although I find the dents in my arms a little disconcerting and am wondering if I might have permanent scares if I wear them for the next four weeks lol!
I bought some pregnancy vitamins which supposedly have B12 in them, supposed to help with sickness, we'll see?! Desperation. I find myself wracking my brains every meal time to think about what I could reasonably eat. So far I'm limited to toast, beans on toast, plain pasta, cereal and baked potatoes - plain, plain, plain. All the yummy tomatoey/garlic/olive pasta sauces and salad dressings I usually love make me feel ill just thinking about them. So strange isn't it!

petitech · 24/10/2010 08:46

scares = scars doh!

mummynumber2 · 24/10/2010 09:24

Morning everyone. I'm 7.5 today!
petitech I'm completely with you on the food thing. I did manage some curry last night, although no meat. Basically the only things that don't literally make me gag just thinking about are ginger biscuits, any citrus fruit including lemon (wtf!) and potato. And I can just about cope with drinking milk. Even still water is making me feel sick by sparkling if fine! I'm also pretty much always sucking on a polo mint! It worries me a bit. I honestly, particularly just before I got pregnant, used to eat very healthily. This can't be good for the baby! Although I kind of figure I'm kind of having something from each food group!

beesok yes, I'm completely over emotional! Was telling my mum and she said it's just the beginning of motherhood, I'll cry everytime things go right and every time things go wrong. Which made me cry again!

Sasamaxx I've had the loose stools thing too. I blame it on such a dramatic change in my diet, although I have heard that some people can be sensitive to the pregnancy vitamins and changing brands can help. Although as far ad I'm aware there us only one commonly available isn't there?

MainlyMaynie · 24/10/2010 09:29

Morning everyone. I think I have the emotional thing kicking in too, I cried at X Factor last night Blush. More than once.

broughthimroundtotheidea I'm loving the 'pregnancy fanny fart', something for us all to look forward to!

sasamaxx, I'm with you on the caffeine withdrawal! I haven't gone off it, but after I researched what the best limit is, I realised I can't actually have a full cup of strong fresh coffee, which is what I normally drink. And I don't like tea, so I'm basically caffeine free. Well, I guess except when I'm at the pub where I'll be drinking a lot of diet coke!

petitech are you taking pregnacare? That's the one I've got. I'm veggie, so not taking the one with fish oils in, I've ordered some separate algae-sourced omega 3 stuff. Yum.

Beesok · 24/10/2010 09:36

Good morning ladies!

re caffeine is decaf OK or is it better to just have teh one cup of coffee? I usually drink a single espresso and then that's it for the day......
I have tried to stop it completely but sometimes I just really need one! :(

Do you think it's OK?

Also don't mean to nag :) but any opinions about NCT? classes? I need to let them sooner than later if we want the place thanks :)

Igglybuff · 24/10/2010 09:44

Morning! I'm 9 weeks today. Madness.

Beesok I did NCT classes as did two of my neighbours. They're great for meeting other local mums and giving you a vital support network in the early days. You'll be grateful for people in a similar situation. However in my case, the other mums weren't local (a 20 min train journey) so I hardly saw them. But my neighbours had NCT mates who were around the corner. The classes themselves were helpful. I didn't do NHS ones though so can't compare.

As for coffee - I think a small amount of caffeine is ok so one cup won't hurt.

MainlyMaynie · 24/10/2010 09:46

Beesok There are about 80mg of caffeine in a single espresso, which is well under the recommended limit of 150mg. I found one study that showed the overall best outcome were for women who averaged 50mg or less a day, but that was only one study and I am being extra extra paranoid because of my history! Don't worry about 1 espresso a day.

I considered decaff, but the chemicals used to extract the caffeine aren't good for pregnant women, so I'm not going to have that either. Again though, this is me being very paranoid about everything, so I'm not suggesting other people should avoid it!

sasamaxx · 24/10/2010 10:01

MrsBigW, Wonnaywombat and cep - thanks so much for your concern - it really helps [hsmile]

Petitech - totally know what you mean. I feel like such a miserable burden for people just now. I'm only going out if I absolutely have to, doing the absolute bare minimum and moaning the rest of the time [hblush]
I can hardly believe that 2 weeks ago I had no symptoms at all apart from a raging appetite (which thanks to ms has now completely gone]

mummynumber2 - phew glad it's not just me. Yes that sounds sensible - my diet really has altered dramatically - and the ms makes my stomach so sensitive all the time which can't be good for the bowels. I'm on pregnacare at the moment - I didn't think that I may be sensitive to it. If the loose stools don't settle down, I might try the sanatogen one instead. I totally agree - sparkling water can be really good when feeling sick I think - no idea why. Don't worry about the whole nutrition thing - the placenta will be snatching all the nutrients it can for the baby, and your body will have plenty of stores of things to get you through the next few weeks.

I've not really been passing wind, but I just cannot stop burping [hblush] - seriously - all day long. I'm even forgetting to hide it and everything lol.

mainlymaynie - I've never researched the caffeine limit. I'm a total tea-jenny though - drink absolutely loads of it. Have never gone off it before so it's really wierd. The thought of it is just bleurgh at the moment. I cried at x factor last night as well lol - ridiculous!

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday so far. DH has taken DS to his swimming lesson (and DD to sit with him in the waiting bit) so I'm having a bit of peace and quiet just now. He's wanting to go shopping later on and the thought just isn't appealing.
So far, my headache seems to have disappeared don't want to speak too soon) and no more loose stools so far but nausea is just as bad as ever. This is the first time it's kicked off before 11am as well so since it goes on until bedtime, it looks like it's a full day of it today [hsad]

petitech · 24/10/2010 10:25

Does anyone have anything nice planned for Sunday. It is nice and sunny and bright here (Cheshire), although chilly, so thinking maybe it's time to remove myself from the sofa and get some fresh air!

Clarkiee · 24/10/2010 10:37

sasamaxx I've been doing huge burps all day long too- just can't help it.

And whoever said vivid dreams- YES! Never had such vivid dreams- last night I dreamt that Rob Green (english goalkeeper) and his wife Denise Van Outen moved next door?!?!

Not really had ms occasionally feel a little queezy. Been taking pregnancare so maybe thats whats helped.

Have a lovely Sunday- I'm off to Blackpool illuminations tonight with my siblings and my nieces and nephews Grin

curiouselle · 24/10/2010 10:44

Please can I join?

I believe I am due at the end of June, 24th-ish. This is my #1 and I feel like a proper newby!

My first question is how pregnant am I? I know when I conceived which makes me 3 weeks 3 days, or when I had 1st day of last cycle which makes me 5 weeks? So confused as to what people say?

I see you are all talking about sickness, I have had none of that, just sensitive sore boobs, which I am grateful for so I don't feel like a fraud! Confused

Also what if it doesn't stick???

Also lol pregnancy fanny fart - haven't had that one! [hgrin]

Beesok · 24/10/2010 11:04

Igglybuff thanks - I think I will go for them, I will def need all the support I can get!

MainlyMaynie thanks for the reassurance - I heard about the decaff as well so trying to avoid it too, I guess it's choosing the better of two evils :)

When I asked my gp (ages ago while I was getting my preconception bloods done) she totally shrugged it off saying that one cup of coffee is absolutely fine :)

but yeah - I am paranoid too and I wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to baby because of my coffee habit.

I think I am 6 weeks now (from conception) and I am starting to have mild nausea bleh :(

As for plans - we're going to look at lamps :) I have been dying to buy some nice side lamps for the bedroom and finally found the time and convinced hubby to come :)

mrsbigw · 24/10/2010 11:25

Morning ladies!

Glad its not just me who has gone off everything food-wise. And I feel like I am being a total pain in the arse to live with too; mrbigw wanted to go clothes shopping yesterday & I had to drag myself around the shops; even turned down the offer of the new pants I had my eye on a couple of weeks ago ( pre sickness/ pragnancy)...used the excuse they wouldnt fit for long but the truth is I couldnt be bothered walking to the shop as I felt so rough! Only managed to buy hat & scarf & wooly waistcoat as I didnt have to make the effort to go into changing rooms lol.

Actually think I need to see a Dr as I am off new clothes & chocolate???

Re pregnancy symptoms

Yes to vivid dreams & waking up middle of night; last night Vanessa Feltz came to my mums house for tea & every cup I picked off the shelf was dirty???? This was in dream not RL lol.

Yes to eating loads of mints too I am sure my baby will come out smelling mentholated.

Have a lovely Sunday all

wonnaywombat · 24/10/2010 12:10

mrsbigw - your post really made me laugh -definitely time to see the doctor if you're going off those!

I wonder if it's hormone surges for these dreams or if it's because we're so obsessed with all things pg related, our minds are giving us something else to think about...?!

curiouselle - welcome and big congrats! In the initial stages before a dating scan, they will go by the first day of your last period so you are 5 weeks pregnant. There are quite a few of us on this thread who aren't getting morning sickness yet and while sympathising a lot with those that do, are slightly wishing for some as a sign of reassurance. We're all varied in what signs we do / don't have and it's quite common not to have any at all other than a missed period.

sasamaxx · 24/10/2010 13:13

lol mrsbigw - what a brilliant, wierd pregnancy dream. I'm sure I've had quite a lot of celebrity dreams lately too for some reason!
