Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Morning all!

And welcome to MainlyMaynie. I know exactly what you need, I'm 5+6 and can't wait to be past 9w (most of m/c were 8.5w). We can all be neurotic togather ;)

Slept badly last night and now have a day of keeping the garklet entertained while the Spouse writes his lectures for next week. Thnkfully most of the afternoon will be taken up with a birthday party so I can have a bit of down time then (and cake!).

KaraStarbuck cannot belive that silly doctor! [hshock]
Did you say you were still feeding DS? (can't remember I'm sure this was discussed on the previous thread) only I really want to stop feeding DD soon and she's 2yrs 4mths and could really do with advice stopping at that age [hsmile]

Beesok · 23/10/2010 12:51

Hi everyone, is it just me or time is passing s-l-o-w-l-y .....:) I was walking home from the gym and thinking (of course) about babies (another friend just had a baby boy) and it hit me: I'm going to have a baby! It feels so surreal that I will actually have a little baby that's a part of me :)

I'm sorry for the silly post :) but sometimes I stop thinking about all the physical symptoms, baby equipment, DRESSES and just try to imagine what it's like to hold your own baby :)

yellowtomato · 23/10/2010 13:20

Ah Beesock that is a lovely thought. I am too nervous to really dream at this stage and I also don't think I can begin to imagine how it feels.

Hello to everyone else

neenewps · 23/10/2010 13:24

8rubberduckies I think we may too be due buddies along with takethatlady and mainlymaynie I am also at the 5 week mark this weekend...

.....and yes Beesok time is d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g!!!!!

I can't help thinking I have precious cargo on board now :o

Managed to sleep to 8am this morning however I did still wake at the what seems to be obligatory 4am again!!!

Hi to everyone... :)

GoodVibrations · 23/10/2010 14:43

Hi everyone, and welcome mainlymaynie!

barbie my scan this time was at 8+2. Looked like a little prawn with arm & leg buds starting to show and a heartbeat. About 1.8cm long. Found it really reassuring.

I'm afraid I have to comment on the flu jab thing. Please don't scare people with the media stories from America. We all know from personal experience or from this thread that mc is sadly very common and there is no scientific evidence whatsoever to support a link between mc and flu jab. I am not going to preach from either camp (I changed my mind so many times before I decided) but please look at all the evidence before making a decision. There was a big debate on a thread a few weeks back (I will post a link). It got quite heated and I ran away after a while but the first few pages give some good facts from both sides.

Well, that was a bit serious so on the lighter side my obsession with pies is continuing Blush Have eaten 2 cold hollands pies this morning, which before being pg would have made me vom. I am so convined this one is a boy. I am also expanding rapidly. I'm quite slim and have a very noticeable pot belly, this is going to be the worst kept secret ever as I'm sure everyone has noticed already!

Hope you're all well today and resting! :)

GoodVibrations · 23/10/2010 14:45

wonnaywombat · 23/10/2010 15:00

Hi everyone and welcome to mainlymaynie.

Good tip for those trying to explain away the non-drinking that I tried last night - pretend to be totally hungover from the night before and just can't face anything. I got loads of sympathy although the story did seem to increase in complexity as people asked where I was / what I did etc - it sounded like a great night that I never had! It also meant I got to chuckle at other people getting decidedly tipsy!

With my scan that dated me at 6+5 (I thought I was 7+4) we could hardly see a thing, just a tiny blob but my fab ob/gyn put the heartbeat on as early as she could to reassure us that things were ok. Even though we have heard it, I'm still thinking of all the things that could go wrong and poking my boobs to check they're still sore.... spent a lot of time outside in the hot sun today (can you tell I'm an English girl abroad.....?!) and feel completely wiped out now.

Hope everyone else is having a good saturday so far.

Hello everyone. I had a nice time shopping and invested in some of those motion sickness bands, will let you know if they do any good, desperately need some respite!
What's the deal with the flu jab then? I got a letter through this morning saying I'm eligible for one? Is it a bit of a controversial subject?

mummynumber2 · 23/10/2010 19:02

Hi everyone.

supersunnyday what an amazing story, you must have been so surprised when you found out!

Welcome mainlymaynie you're definitely in good company here! There's a few of us just as worried as you at the moment. I suppose as time goes on we'll be able to relax a bit more. Or at least find something else to worry about! My consultant has assured me that stomach cramps are perfectly normal and common throughout the whole of pregnancy. She told me that the only time to investigate would be if there's also any bleeding or if they are very bad and constant.

I'm taking my dsc's to my parents next week for half term.

KatyOT · 23/10/2010 19:07

Hi everyone I'm Katy 32, I'm due in June 2011. My Sis (who is due to give birth any minute) told me that she has found chatting on mumsmet a great support, so I thought I'd join too. This is my 2nd pregnancy, unfortunately I had an early miscarriage 7 Months ago. Really excited but find myself panicking about every little niggle. Got a feeling of pressure on my left side (near my hip bone), does anyone know if this is normal? I don't have any pain or bleeding so trying not to worry too much.

mummynumber2 · 23/10/2010 19:10

Sorry, posted too soon! Decided I'll be able to relax more while dsc's get quality time with the (step) grandparents, not to mention their quad bike and horses! Think we're going to tell dsd2 and dss tomorrow! Dsd1 already knows, she's 14 and lives with us, she told me yesterday that dsd2 has more or less guessed. I wouldn't usually dream or telling any of them yet but I've spent so much time off work and just not myself they are asking a lot of questions. I'm fairly sure they'll be over the moon.

mummynumber2 · 23/10/2010 19:22

Hi katyot sorry, I crossed posts with you. Congratulations! You're in the right place, we're all a bit nervous on thus post for various reasons. How many weeks are you?

cep · 23/10/2010 19:43

evening all. Again welcome newbies, and congratulations.

KatyOT - certainly seems to be very comon have aches and pains. i've pretty much had an ache on my right side since last week. I had thought it was something to do with the water infection i had but i've finished the antibiotics and i'm still getting the pains.
But no bleeding so i'm not panicking, just moaning. Grin

Have to admit i caved and told another friend at work yesterday still not told most people though and don't plan to till xmas.

I worked it out i'm 6 weeks now which makes another 6 till 12 weeks (obviously) which makes it 9 weeks till xmas. can't believe how quick this year is going. or was till i found out i'm pg and then like others have said it's started dragging.

Wobblewatcher · 23/10/2010 20:01

Hi guys

Well you are all literally reading my mind. Started off feeling positive about this pg but today felt very nervous. Was at work and really busy and just started to worry about baby for some reason.

I have sore boobs (come and go)
Pressure in pelvis (bit like you KatyOT)
Bloatedness
Vivid dreams

I'm 4.5 I think, no sickness as yet.

I get worried when I have cramps then worried when I don't and also worried as last few nights have not been getting up in night to wee. I'm mad.

Having early scan I hope but like someone else said I'm worried about this too!!!

Blimey!!!

Beesok · 23/10/2010 20:28

Hi GoodVibrations! Just wante dto comment on your post - I am not trying to scare anyone or convince them either way, the reason I mentioned it is because I came across it that's it, was just sharing info! And I did state in my post that it was not medically proven and that some of these cases probably were unfortunate coincidences - I also made it very clear that the above related to the SWINE flu jab not every flu jab......

Like I said everyone has their own opinion and ultimately it is a personal choice and there really is no right or wrong in some issue ie drinking while pregnant, caffeine etc - some people will have a glass of wine and feel OK with it some will not touch a drop of alcohol, to take a jab or not is just one of those things that you either feel comfortable with or not :)

Just came back from John Lewis, Mamas&Papas etc - looking for a gift to buy for a baby who lives in a hot climate proved impossible :) EVERYTHING is for winter :)
but I bought a lovely black and white zebra at hamley's :)

MainlyMaynie · 23/10/2010 20:50

Thanks for the welcome everyone, it's good to know I have company in paranoia-land.

I bought a clearblue conception indicator test today and used one this afternoon. According to that I'm 4-5 weeks, which I've found very reassuring. It's made me feel like at least I'm not about to start bleeding in the next couple of days! We decided I'm def going to have a viability scan, one of the hospitals near us offers them privately. Roll on 12 weeks!

wonnaywombat I am with you on poking the boobs, mine are probably more sore from the poking than anything else!

8rubberduckies · 23/10/2010 20:53

Evening! Could murder a glass of wine tonight, but I am having to make do with a wine-glass of Shloer instead Sad, the first of many Saturday nights of sobriety to come!

Welcome to the worry-thread Katy, we should give away free worry beads to every new member upon arrival Wink!

Good luck telling the family tomorrow mummynumber2!

pozzled · 23/10/2010 21:04

Evening all! I posted a couple of times on the previous thread but haven't caught up for a while. Hope everyone is doing ok, and welcome to all the newbies.

I'm 6 weeks today and have been feeling really crappy, constant nausea, tired and just generally can't get round to doing anything. Feeling very guilty as I have no energy to play with DD. On the plus side I haven't been sick (yet- fingers crossed) and I am still eating ok, went right off food in the first trimester last time.

I have no clue what is best about the food jab- I'm seeing my GP on Monday so will ask what he suggests first and then look into it a bit more before deciding.

8rubberduckies I would love a glass of wine. A couple of times I've had a very small sip of my DH's glass just to savour the taste and smell!

Wobblewatcher · 23/10/2010 21:25

pozzled whT is a food jab??!! Grin

Just found my thread from when I was pg with DD, still worrying about the same thing 4 years on it seems!!

8rubberduckies · 23/10/2010 21:30

I am planning on treating myself to a teeny weeny one next Friday night for my DPs birthday... woohoo! Another way of guaranteeing the next week stretches out to infinity................ Hmm

mrsbigw · 23/10/2010 21:35

lol pozzled at the food jab, glad its not just me who can't stop thinkin about what food I am going to try next! on a serious note you have my heartfelt sympathies with the feeling crappy bit, me too...it really sucks.

petitech i have been wearing the bands for a couple of weeks now; not sure if they actually help but am not taking them off just in case!

Hello & welcome to the thread new ladies :)

hope everyone is well & happy this evening.

pozzled · 23/10/2010 21:46

LOL, is it too early for me to claim baby brain?

sasamaxx · 23/10/2010 21:56

Hi everyone - sorry I'm not replying individually. I just feel so bad at the moment - I've had a headache all day (think it might be caffeine withdrawal since I stopped drinking tea yesterday as it made me feel sick), my head is fuzzy and heavy feeling, I have terrible lethargy and have been feeling sick all day as usual. I know loads of you are really ill as well [hsad]

I seem to be getting very loose stools at the moment - as though my stomach is really really delicate. Has anyone else had this?

Ooohh I feel terrible - I'm off to bed now - night night [hsmile]
