Here we go ladies, a brand new sparkly thread that should see us all into our 2nd trimester Smile

Many thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

I've felt lots of movements this evening, I was sitting in quite a twisted position which is why I think I felt it so much.

OP posts:

I have a wedge pillow (from M'care i think) that i put between my knees, the thin end of the wedge, and it does seem to help.

we have a memory foam mattress and it does get hot, but i love it - wasn't convinced at first. is v good for DH's back - another one with a bad back.

PolarBear74 · 29/10/2010 19:33

We seem to have a lot of DH's with bad backs-mine has as well. Might have to get one of the foam mattresses too if it helps backs.

Went to diabetic clinic today and have to do blood sugar monitoring every day now, also on a wildly exciting low carbohydrate diet!

Not much else to report , looking forward to scan on 29th nov, long way away!!

Liv77 · 29/10/2010 19:58

Thanks for all your good wishes, I have already started on the cranberry juice. [hsmile]

Liv77 · 29/10/2010 20:09

Frakk I forgot to add I wouldn't waste time ordering with mothercare if you are overseas as they charge a fortune on postage.

They were going to charge me £13.95 postage for 1 T-shirt to the Channel Islands. Angry. So it would probably be even more for France. I think it is a flat rate though so not so bad if you're planning a big order but definately not worth it for smaller items.

beckie90 · 30/10/2010 13:34

thankyou for all your kind words ladies :)
i have plenty of support from family n friends.
last few days the baby has sone nothing but move love to feel he/she is doing well in there lol.
just cant wait for my scan now im convinced its a boy

SaltedPretzels · 31/10/2010 10:10

HAPPY HALLOWEEN [hgrin]

Have decorated the windows with moving parts skeleton light strings, glow in the dark pumpkins and cobweb spray. Have lots of good and bad treats, which my DH has tested for poison! So will top them up AGAIN today lol.

Got caught out with the extra hour haven't seen 6.30am in a while lol

Discovered my local beauty rooms have pregnancy massages, WOW! 1 hour of stress free bliss, sitting with cushions to hug whilst having a back and neck massage then the usual, leg, arms and head massage and finally foot soak with moisturising foot massage to finish, ahhh feel like a new woman!

Yesterday found mysupermarket.co.uk, they check prices between, Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys and Ocado, pain if your comparing your weekly shop but just for baby items they have a baby category which makes it easy.

Have been searching factory shops for baby goods found a fair few Mama's & Papas (Huddersfield, West Yorkshire) some down near Essex but didn't look into them, it's too far from me although have relatives in Epsom so may check into it later and report my findings. Tommee Tippee are near Newcastle, didn't see any other location for them.

Also looked into local wholesalers for baby goods, some (not all) allow the public if spending over a certain amount, my nearest in Carlisle for non trade is selling Pampers at £1.94 (27's) worth checking out ladies. It's also worth asking a friend with a business if they fancy a day out, they will have to register for a trade account but they are free, depends if they want the junk mail or not!

maxylou · 31/10/2010 11:48

hi salted pretzels, where bouts in carlisle can u buy pampers that cheap?, i live not far from there

SaltedPretzels · 31/10/2010 13:46

Hi Maxy, I called them basically you have to buy bulk supermarket size orders to get that price, don't know about you but I can't hide 4 pallets of nappies under the bed lol.
Another attractive looking offer is Piccolo's of Carlisle and their Monday Madness, although nobody ever appears to be the first come winners! They are on Facebook put in Piccolo Carlisle.

But it's not all bad news, I'm trawling hundreds of offers, this is the latest that 'looks good' but when I've actually found one that is all it appears I'll post it.

This look ok if your near Birmingham or bulk buy due to postage charge www.thewholesaleforums.co.uk/forum/toys-gadgets-sporting-and-miscellaneous-goods/47443-pampers-minis-nappies-size-2-35pk.html

I won't post anymore until I know there real as there are thousands of them but it's interesting searching (if you like that sort of thing, I love shopping of all kinds lol).

The Mamas and Papas is worth a look, Huddersfield is 3 hours from Carlisle and from what I hear people who have shopped there you can get some amazing deals on maternity, baby wear and pushchairs. I'm going in December when I visit family in Yorkshire, so I'll let you know.
Let me know if you find anything near here as West Cumbria isn't great for shopping, even the supermarkets aren't big enough for clothing or anything over than food.

gormers · 31/10/2010 20:25

Hey guys. Hope you've all had a Happy Halloween - just think this time next year we'll have little fancy-dressed up pumpkins of our own!!

Irritatingly, I've now added the flu on top of the incessant 'morning' sickness. However, have managed to wangle a few days off later this week - planned sick leave! Hopefully a few days in a row without 14 hour working days will help!

Beckie - really sorry to hear what's happened, admire your resolve and attitude and hope there's plenty of others around you to help support you. You've got us as well if you ever need a vent or a MN hug. ( )xx

stuffedmk · 01/11/2010 11:45

Have folded up a duvet to sleep on, it seems to have taken the edge off the pain although I still wake in the morning achy....not waking me in the night now though so am at least getting better sleep (excluding getting up to wee lol) Have tried the pillow between the legs but it is the hip I am laying on that is the problem so it doesn't seem to help. Oh well at least there is improvement.
I have a crib coming today Grin I bought a really cheap sling off ebay and the seller (who is local) had a crib that she didn't manage to sell so I asked if I could take it for the starting price.....so I got both for the grand total of £11 and she is bringing them over and doesn't even want any petrol money as I am on her way home from work. Yey....baby stuff....yey!!!!!
Had my flu jab on saturday after much umming and ahhing. The nurse got strangly arsey with me when I asked to have it in left arm. I just wanted to make sure I would be able to sleep if I got achy arm from it, she did it but was really funny about it Confused

Poodle82 · 01/11/2010 12:31

Just caught up on the messages from the weekend as spent all of it at work. Spent most of this morning in bed to make up for it though!

Frakk my maternity shopping consisted of a few T-shirts and tops, a top for my work night out next month, a jumper and a pair of jeans. I'm lazy when it comes to searching for bargains but the maternity sections of H&M and New Look are fairly cheap, and the jeans from JoJo Maman were about £30. Still haven't worn any of it yet.

stuffed mk well done on the baby bargains. That seems very strange of the nurse. When I'm giving injections at work I'm more than happy to go with where people want them.

I'm at the stage where people I know in passing aren't quite sure if I'm pregnant or not so the brave ones ask cautiously and then look relieved when I say yes Smile

Anyone else not felt movement yet? I'm now 18 and half weeks and not felt anything noticeable which doesn't help my paranoia.

lowra · 01/11/2010 12:50

Poodle, I'm 18 weeks now and I haven't felt any noticeable movement either. Glad I'm not the only one with pregnancy paranoia!

stuffedmk · 01/11/2010 13:10

poodle I couldn't understand the attitude either...I think she may have been a bit stressed as she had just spent ages with a child who was definitely not in the mood for a jab!

frakkinstein · 01/11/2010 14:57

Nope, no movement here either at 17 weeks! Have been told in no uncertain terms not to worry until 25 weeks...

JoEW · 01/11/2010 17:09

Hi everyone - I haven't posted since the new thread as it's been crazy at work. Finally finished with two big events so I can relax a little bit. Off on holiday for a week next week and I CANNOT WAIT! Oh, a week of sitting in the sun, reading, eating, sleeping and generally not doing a thing unless I want to, bliss!

Sorry to hear about your horrid wee problems Liv77 and also your break up, Beckie90. Hope you are both ok.

I've not ventured into maternity clothes yet, it's my first and I am 16 weeks so not really showing. Have a small bump that doesn't really look pregnant but some people who know me well know that it is pregancy and not just bloating. Obviously none of my pre preggers clothes fit but I am getting away with dresses and tights. Excellent parcel from my mum arrived this morning, containing two rather hideous tops from M&S, one is two sizes bigger than my usual size and the other is three! I haven't seen her for a month but I am still wondering quite what she thinks is likely to have happended to me in that time - they are like tents. Bless her!

No feelings of movement her but I guess it's quite early for my first. Dying to feel something though. Got my midwife appointment on Thurs. Does anything exciting happen at the 16 week one? I am holding out for the next scan.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

kittycatcat · 01/11/2010 17:36

I think we here the heartbeat at 16 week appt?

hippy3 · 01/11/2010 17:50

hi am relieved to see that others have been feeling no movement, it makes me feel better I was panicking a bit, well a lot actually ...thinking i should be feeling something!! I thought I could about three weeks ago. Like tiny fluttering. And now the last two weeks have felt nothing (am trying not to freak myself out).....i am just like many on here . Paranoid ! ... Its my 14 week scan! to see how they are doing... so again my mind will be at rest. (hopefully)

joe your above post made me laugh..i have had my soon to be ish MIL on the phone twice a week asking me if im ok, what am i eating, am i resting blah blah blah..i know she means well but its allready doing my head in and the babies arent even here yet !!!!

My patience seems to be a lot thinner on the ground these days. ! Grin

JustKeepSparkling · 01/11/2010 19:24

Hippy - i'm rather like you, was feleing flutterings but a lots less recently. really trying not dwell. Got MW on Wed (or maybe Thurs Confused) so hopefully hearing hb will reassure me.

My Mum said today; 'my God you're huge! sure there's only 1 in there?!' Shock

it does look & feel big today as i'm wearing trousers. If I wear big normal ones i don't look so pg.

MuffinMouse · 02/11/2010 08:58

Ooh this is all very reassuring. I felt movement early on but haven't now for ages.

I've been trying not to wonder whether something has happened. And then at other times I can't decide if it is movement or just wind.

My next ante natal is a week late as it's at the consultant's clinic. The next scan feels so far away.

I have bought a pair of maternity trousers, jeans and pjs. The pj bottoms are great but the others fall down at mo. I got them from Gap because when I walked past they had a 25% off with a Grazia voucher. Quickly bought the mag and new clothes!

Must have rubbish abs as my tum with number 3 is now huge. I also bought a maternity coat which is faintly ridiculous as i will look incredibly bulbous being so short, large and round even when not preggers.

Have boobs the size of melons. It is not pretty. I am way past the it looks sexy, and well into the matronly comic state. Have started wearing a bra in bed and am aching a lot less. It is 34 G and starting to become too tight. Last time I went up to a 32J!!! (And I was slimmer). I dread to think.....

gormers · 02/11/2010 09:45

Weird - me too!! I felt some flutterings a couple of weeks back, and nothing in the past week. Have been scrutinising to try and see if bump is growing or not!!

Also with you on the crazy boobs front - started this with 32G before being pregnant, they're just getting scary now!!

SaltedPretzels · 02/11/2010 10:25

LOL Muffin & Gormers they just keep growing and yes No3 bump is also huge, abs have dissolved, already in maternity wear.
lol bulbous, my mothers started calling me violet as in the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka!

Felt baby moving from around 13/14 weeks but last 5 days didn't feel anything, started thinking about buying a doppler or heading to my MW but this morning I have a karate session in full swing in my lower abdomen! I can't believe No3 and I'm still getting paranoid, guess it's just a mothers instinct to protect and worry them. 17 weeks today Smile

Osch · 02/11/2010 10:42

Morning everyone,

I haven't been on for ages! So thought i'd pop in... Well finally feeling baby move now, like alot of you i was really worrying about not feeling anything, especially after losing my baby boy during childbirth this year i just seem to worry about evreything!! I started feeling this one move at exactly 16 weeks, 17+2 now but as i was only pregnant 8 months ago i think all my stomach muscles have completely gone! Definitely have a bump now and am in maternity clothes, although still managing to squeeze into my pre pregnancy jeans albeit with one of those bump belts to hold the button in place.

I have my scan next week so not long untill i find out what we're having!! Can't wait!! How many of you will be finding out the sex?

I hope everyone is well!!
Take care Smile

frakkinstein · 02/11/2010 11:04

So sorry to hear about your baby boy, Osch. I'm not suprised you were worrying - hopefully the movements have reassured you.

We're not finding out the sex unless it's blindingly obvious, although next scan is still ages away I think! The system here seems remarkably disorganised...Or maybe it's just me not getting my head around it.

Karoleann · 02/11/2010 14:46

Osch - how awful, I'm not suprised you're worrying.
I didn't feel any movement with DS1 and DS2 til over 22 weeks, this one i can feel proper kicks - very odd. I've a bit of a bump, so in normal clothes, but maternity jeans - I just find the bigger normal ones look too big everywhere else.
I know the sex already - found out at the 12/13 week scan and after two boys its a girl!

kurlyvoice · 02/11/2010 14:57

Hello everyone!

Well I had my 16(+3) week appointment today and got to hear a lovely loud, strong, fast heartbeat so that's the worrying abated for the next few days (before I start worrying again!).

I haven't felt any definite movements yet - nothing that I can't say isn't my tummy rumbling / digesting, but as it's my first and the heartbeat is good, I'm not going to stress about it for a week or so...

I have a definite little bump - my colleagues keep remarking on it - but not enough for my pupils to have guessed before I had the chance to tell them myself! I'm in maternity clothes for some things but can still fit into looser clothes and my leggings.

Sorry that I'm not on here more but I am always lurking to check that everyone is doing ok. :)
