Time for a new thread.

Hope the title will encourage the "reluctant" babes into the world.

Good luck to all who are due now/overdue

What a relief RH - what a shame your midwife had you worried for the past 24 hours though

mummyhill · 13/09/2005 14:30

Sorry to disapoint everyone but I am still here waiting.

Have been in to hospital this morning as my back is killing me and thet agreed to bring my appointment forward from friday to discuss induction.

They appologised but they are fully booked up on the induction front till next wednesday (21st) so have booked me in for then and will apparently phone me if they have a cancellation. In the mean time I am stuck having a very slow pre labour with chronic back pain. (5 days so far). Yipee lucky me I will be over 42 weeks by then.

Am now feeling quite down but hey ho there is allways time for things to speed up and me to go into established labour on my own.

PiccadillyCircus · 13/09/2005 14:38

New computer did indeed arrive yesterday . And I will work out how to do the wireless connecting thing and also decide which broadband to get. Any suggestions?

DS is having a sleep so I am being on here. He and I went to mums and toddlers this morning and got the usual round of "still here" but I was feeling better about it today. DS has an invitation to a birthday party on Friday (due date) so I have said I am intending to be the entertainment .

Sorry to all those who are having starting and stopping labours. And also sympathies with those who have erratic emotions. DH would vouch for this as I got rather too stroppy with him for no reason this morning . Think he sort of understands (or at least said the right things anyway).

Do you think zubb might have had her baby? Don't think I#ve seen any posts from her for a little while.

singleteenagemum · 13/09/2005 14:53

Afternoon everyone,

hope you're not as bored and depressed as me. had really horrible period like pains yesterday, kept feeling like i was about to come on and then wet myself All calmed down last night after a bout of blackberry picking. Getting horrible pains in pubic area and top of leg. Took dog for a walk this morning and had stitch from the moment i left the house (10:20) until 13:45, it really hurt Am hoping its the start of things, am 39weeks tomorrow, got a mw appointment...(haven't had one with my mw for 4weeks ) Anyways hope you;re all in pain...meant in nicest possible way.

As for the new man story...well...this could turn into a very long post....i'll apologise now.

I went to the pub on 25th August to meet up with some old friends from school who got their A-level results and wanted to celebrate/drown their sorrows. I went and was on water all night. everytime i went to the bar this guy was going up and buying water as well. he asked why i wasn't drinking (very stupid chat up line considering circumstances me thinks )He was on water coz he was driving, was really wierd, i never get chatted up even when i'm not pregnant...perhaps i have that pregnant glow thingy! Anyway so we got chatting up at the bar and one thing led to another and we swapped numbers. he text me the next day and asked if i wanted to go out somewhere...decided to have fish and chips on the beach (how romantic). So thats the story really...seen him quite a few times since then, he even helped with some baby shopping - carrying my bags n stuff. Looking forward to having little one so i can see him again...is that enough info?

Hello - sorry you are down - must be something in the air! Your man sounds nice.

Are you sure your waters didn't go yesterday?? Take care

singleteenagemum · 13/09/2005 15:05

my hind waters may have done according to my mum but i dont know

Redhelen · 13/09/2005 15:23

mummyhill

I'm really sorry - its so unfair.

I'm starting again on the nipple tweaking tonight - desperate times call for desperate measures!!!!!!!!

singleteenagemum · 13/09/2005 15:25

Still nothing from ladyL.....got as much crossed as i can have for her

beatie · 13/09/2005 16:14

Just saw my midwife. No changes - still 2/5ths engaged. She's booked me for a membrane sweep on friday when I'll be 41 weeks. Is that a usual time to have one?

PiccadillyCircus · 13/09/2005 16:20

Redhelen, I've been chortling away to myself about your interpretation of this thread's title since reading it yesterday .

Do you think giggling can make babies arrive?

PiccadillyCircus · 13/09/2005 16:23

Or what about excessive KitKat eating? .

Should probably wake DS up but peace and quiet is nicer .

Seeing the midwife tomorrow and have hopsital appointment for next week when I'll be 40+3.

Do I remember something about a new/full moon this weekend being good for the birth of babies?

beatie · 13/09/2005 16:30

Oh yes - the 17th is a full moon. Does that mean the labour ward will be packed and someone else might be in MY birthing pool

If excessive kitkat eating brings on labour - let's hope my excessive twix eating does too.

Kiwifruit · 13/09/2005 16:37

Hi All - Helenemjay just posted her birth notice - a baby girl, 7lb 5oz, no name as yet...

Got fitted for my maternity bras at John Lewis - the woman was very nice, but did comment that I must be having a rather large baby (should have told her it was triplets...) . Very pleased, as the largest Elle McPherson bra size was perfect for me, so raced home and ordered on figleaves.com, as get a free pair of knickers with each Elle maternity bra purchased at the moment. Bought a lovely black lace one as a special treat for DH - he wants to have a ceremonial burning of my preggy bras as soon as the baby arrives . Also got a boring, structural white one from JL, which fits very comfortably. So that's another thing to tick off the list.

Anyone bought breast pumps yet? Was looking at the Medela electric one in JL - anyone used it? Any good?

Sorry you're still with us Mummyhill and Kiwikate - in the nicest possible way, of course!!

Your man sounds lovely STM - very impressed with your preggy pulling power!

Had a very depressing thought on the bus on the way back from Oxford St - as not due until the 25th, theoretically could still have 4 weeks of pregnancy left. How depressing .

Cabe · 13/09/2005 16:51

Hi there everyone on this thread

I'm new to mumsnet and don't mean to butt into your Antenatal Club but as so many of you are going over due date too, thought you might not mind.
I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow and can't wait for things to get started - having home birth and seem to have nested so thoroughly there's nothing left to do... Highlight of my weekdays... My 13year old getting home from school!!

Good luck to you all
sorry for invading your space - hope you don't mind
Cabe

jessysmummy · 13/09/2005 16:51

CONGRATULATIONS to Helenemjay and new little girl. Looking forward to hearing the name.
Kiwifruit - Don't even think about the possibility of another 4 weeks of this, far too depressing! Regarding the Medula electric breast pump, I used it last time round. It was fab as I pumped quite a bit (at least a couple of times a day). Much better than a hand pump if you are intending to use quite often, though the noise is very indiscreet!! Pricey though - I borrowed my sister's and hoping to do so again, though no offers as yet.
Mummyhill, sorry to hear nothing's happened yet.
Hoping LadyL will have some news for us soon.
Redhelen - sack the mw!
Everyone else - keep giggling/chocolate eating/tweaking...

andif · 13/09/2005 16:52

Had a lovely day today. After my energetic morning (did all the ironing too ) My Mum came up and took me out for lunch which was great. Kids have been easy after school as she has been here to help, so I feel unusually calm for the time of day!
Beatie - I am booked to see the consultant at 40+4 where they will do a sweep if I want (hurt like hell last time, and started pathetic labour, so not sure if I want to bother...) My closest local friends (now known as the 3 witches) are convinced of their psychic powers after recent success predicting babies and assure me I will go into labour on Thurs (due date) and have a 6 hour labour. Bizarrely, I believe them, so not sure what I will do if I'm still hanging on by the weekend! Just tomorrow to get through then!
Poor Kiwikate and Mummyhill - I really feel for you. Hope LL has produced though.....

Kiwifruit · 13/09/2005 17:41

Hi Cabe and welcome! Chat away - we're all sitting here twiddling our thumbs and waiting for babies to arrive, so the more the merrier...

Andif - most impressed with your ironing efforts. I thought about doing some - does that count??

Right, am off to yoga - think this is my last class in the course of 6, so had better make the most of it...

Cabe · 13/09/2005 18:00

helloooo
so glad I'm welcome to join in, THANKS Kiwifruit... STM I'm very impressed with your pulling power in your eighth month!! wish I could turn even baby's daddy's head!
DD's just got in so going to have a nose at her homework, something to keep what brain I've got left ticking over...
Later. Cabe

beatie · 13/09/2005 19:12

Kiwifruit - I think some people are twiddling more than their thumbs

I have bought the mini medela electric pump second hand and tried it out today. It seems fine. It is VERY noisy though. If you end up buying one new they have good second hand selling value on ebay. appx £25

Andif - I'm happy to go along with the membrane sweep as it will be done Friday morning and if it did happen to work and I went into labour within 48 hours, it would be perfect weekend timing for getting DD looked after by grandparents. My midwife assured me it would seem like nothing after having being induced (all those pessaries and AROM) last time. Fingers crossed I go into labour before then though.

beatie · 13/09/2005 19:12

oops forgot - welcome Cabe. You still have brainpower left to help with homework?????

zoezebra · 13/09/2005 20:04

Welcome Cabe and any other new mums that I have left off, this thread grows by the day and having trouble keeping up again.
Congratulations HelenEmjay
STM - am so impressed with your pulling skills at 8mths!!
The rest of you....these babies are certainly keeping you waiting, perhaps they are waiting for this full moon?? Really hoping that you all pop soon for those overdue and fed up.
Re: discussion about breast pumps, I have the Avent manual and found it quite discreet, although has disadvantage of being slow and can make your hand ache in the beggining whilst your milk is still coming in. Would probably of got an electric if I had continued to breast feed but have given up and switched to bottle . I had probs with DD on the boob and this time round I am too tired at night and Jasper was not really latching on one side. Also had the start of mastitis again and felt absolutely awful for a couple of days. He seems quite content on the bottle (using the fantastic Bfree bottles with Aptamil formula, this was the best combination for colicky babies when I had DD and fingers crossed it seems to be working this time too).
All is well here otherwise, have just put Jasper for a light eve snooze in his new Maclaren vibrating bouncy chair. Its amazing, he fell asleep as soon as I turned it on, definately reccommend to anyone. For DD I had a static one, this new one reminds me of the Sex in the City episode with mirandas baby in the static chair with Samanthas vibrator stuck down the back .
DD starts back at nursery tomorrow - yee ha.
Off to register J's birth on Thursday and then to look at rental houses....we decided to accept an offer on our battersea flat and rent a family house in Wimbledon. Desperate for space but move date is end Oct. I must be mad moving with a newborn.
Better go as need another early night to maintain some kind of sanity during the day and to remain calm with DD's attention tantrums. Sending labour vibes to all of you, come on Sept babies, start popping

Redhelen · 13/09/2005 21:32

Hello Cabe

Very well done HelenEmjay.

I've just eaten 3 white chocolate maltessa icecreams well I'm feeling down!!! - cryed several times this afternoon as everything hurts - think I've seriously lost site of the end result. I'm begining to think these ailments are for keeps! It dawned on me as I starred at a woman and her newborn in Tescos - Best I go and play with some baby clothes and cheer up - it's a miracle - and its been a long time coming

singleteenagemum · 13/09/2005 22:11

Hello again everyone,
special hello to Cabe.

Been having contractions every 40mins, but really not painful at all...is that good or bad? had the 'beginnings' of a show if you can call it that...dark discharge...sorry if TMI. Hope it;s kicking off here, think he should be here by his due date (a week today) YAY

Been weepy all day and just cried down phone to new man.....how . he didn't mind though...just wanted to come and cuddle me. he didn't though

night night hope i get woken by pain in the night

mummyhill · 13/09/2005 22:38

Congratulations Helenemjay and welcome to your baby girl.

Welcome to Cabe don't worry you aren't invading our space, the more the merrier.

Fingers crossed for you STM hope you progress better then I am at the moment, still having mild ones every 20 - 30 mins. ho hum.

GOing to try and get a good nights sleep. DD starts Nursery properly tommorow think i am more worried about it than she is.

Back to the waiting game, hope the hospital can call me in earlier than 21st cause another 8 days of this isn't a fun idea espaecially with the back pain.

Cabe · 13/09/2005 22:50

Thanks STM, Beatie,Zoezebra + Redhelen.
Think finding this site might just save my sanity, have no nearly new mums nearby to compare 'is it happening?!?!' notes so it's lovely to know I'm not the only one obsessed with what my body's up to... waiting for the tightenings to turn into something productive!
Hope things are starting for you STM... good idea to get some sleep if you can, just about to go to bed myself if I can prize myself off this birthing ball without rolling splat on the floor!!

Night night all
Cabe
