Time for a new thread.

Hope the title will encourage the "reluctant" babes into the world.

Good luck to all who are due now/overdue

Happy due date Lady L - sounds promising, might be early labour? Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you...

KiwiKate - meant to say, love the new thread title - baby will take after DH then...

diane77 · 12/09/2005 09:49

hi all

still no sign, im getting no sleep whatsoever its so uncomfortable to lie on any side plus dd has started getting up and wandering through to our room in the night im almost convinced she sleepwalks!! to top off everything my heartburn has increased dramatically, roll on Thursday!

beatie · 12/09/2005 09:58

LL - I think some women do describe early labour pains as feeling like period cramps. All my books say that labour starts off with you feeling crampy so it could be a good sign.

My contractions never felt like I imagined they would or should as I was induced and I went very quickly from not being in much pain to feeling all the pressure in my bottom and needing to push. I really have no idea what to expect this time.

I don't know what is more frustrating..... having on again off again pre-labour or braxton hicks contractions or having nothing at all happening. Maybe things are happening and I am luckily just not feeling it (remembering Franch here)

Incidentally, I am still in pain from where I had my tooth removed. I'm dubious as to whether the pain was ever really coming from the tooth. The pain is STILL in my gum and feels a bit swollen and lumpy. I have taken a course of strong anti-biotics though so even if I had an undetected abscess, it should have been cleared up by now.

Half of me wonders if this is stopping the baby from coming and I want the pain to be completely gone before I endure labour. The other half of me wants the baby out so soon so I can take some ibufrofen and some voltarol and perhaps deal with the slight swelling.

mymama · 12/09/2005 10:00

Sorry to crash the thread, I am not expecting as I have finished my family 1dd/2ds but I love reading what all of you lovely excited mummies to be have to say.
LadyLazarus best way to describe heavy labour pains is like having a cramp in your leg but it is your tummy!!! Your uteris is in fact a muscle and each contraction is a "cramp" so to speak. I had more pain in my lower back then tum. Heat pads are amazing for this. hth

moschops · 12/09/2005 10:00

hello ladies!!

come on to send some good vibes your way to encourage these babies to make an appearance......

i am shattered, but very happy.......ds seems to have three/four good days where we have something resembling a routine and then he chucks it out of the window to totally confuse us. bless him though, he is only 5 weeks old!

right that's it you lot..............hurry up and have your babies!!

i'm thinking of you all
xxxxxxxx

Oh yes - can someone remind me how we are supposed to measure the rate of movement at this stage of pregnancy? I'm 40 + 3 and movement has definitely slowed down to the rate where I need to keep track of it.

nikkinoo · 12/09/2005 10:21

Hello everybody. I have posted a few messages before.

i am due 18th Sept hospital told me am having a girl. I also have a DS 5 and a DD nearly 4.

had a right bitching session this morning about being pregnant. But hey am feeling much better after it and am counting blessings that I am healthy and that I have had a great pregnancy so far, you just get a bit weary sometimes dont you.

jessysmummy · 12/09/2005 10:24

Beatie - I've got a chart in my notes for counting movements. It says to start at 9am and count at least 10 movements by 9pm. It advises you to contact the hospital if you don't count 10 by this stage. HTH
My bump has definitely slowed down, though and doesn't really move much until about 8 or 9 pm. Moves most of the time if I prod it though, don't know if this counts towards the daily tally?

jessysmummy · 12/09/2005 10:25

Nikkinoo - saw your rant this morning! Hope it helped, feel free to rant a bit more here if it makes you feel better!

nikkinoo · 12/09/2005 10:33

Hiyah jessysmummy, yes it really did. but am ok now. Hormones have alot to answer for

andif · 12/09/2005 10:38

Mummyhill, I'm with you on the nursery run thing. I have lost count of how many people said to me "still here then?" doing the school run/dog walk this morning. Since getting back have already had 2 phone calls from good friends - nice to hear from them, but really have nothing to say!
Beatie, my MW said should feel 10 movements a day - mine was in hyperdrive yesterday, but much quieter today...
Desperately thinking of ways to fill my week. So uncomfortable whatever I do - very sore where baby's bum is unless I am standing up, but no energy as sleeping so badly.

PiccadillyCircus · 12/09/2005 10:56

Hello everyone - sorry for the lack of posts in the past few days - no baby yet, and also have had no computer access as laptop died . It is a work one though and also I am getting a new one (of my own) in the next few days so should be back in the world of internet again soon . I am currently in the library, enjoying a DS at nursery day .

Had a very nice birthday and am enjoying being in my 30s .

Congratulations to everyone who has had a baby recently, commiserations to those who are overdue and hopefully lots of babies will be here soon.

Although I'm NOT overdue yet (due on Friday), it feels it as DS born at 38+3. And people keep asking the "have you had it yet" questions. No, I haven't . And yes, we will let you know when I have....

Kiwifruit · 12/09/2005 11:23

Hi PC - about no baby yet, but enjoy your day with DS in nursery!

Anyone hoping to bring on labour - try watching the cricket, the stress may just be the thing to do it... Got an email from DH instructing me to turn it on and turn up the volume so that the baby could hear it - nutter!

milward · 12/09/2005 11:29

hello all - waiting for little one to be born.... have until the 24/09!!

Congrats franch - 30 mins - would like this as well!! but have to make it to the hospital for my tendancy to heamoragge afterwards!

Boompi · 12/09/2005 12:26

Just to say that the tip re 'YES' Bras on Ebay from Andif has paid off - they are great and are growing with me! Easy to work with one hand too -unlike Bravado. Just ordered another two. (not on comission!!)

mummyhill · 12/09/2005 12:45

OOOhhh trying not to get too excited but mild contractions are getting slightly more intense. Am going to keep midwives appointment and explain how I am feeling and see if she will check and see if we are actually getting nearer to the birth. Appointment is at 3 but will go a little earlier just in case she can squeeze me in as I know a lot of her appointments today are people who like us are due any time now and some lucky person may not need their appointment today.

jessysmummy · 12/09/2005 13:32

Good luck Mummyhill...maybe you'll do a Franch and not even make it to your mw appt. Hope all goes ok. x

mummyhill · 12/09/2005 14:39

23 mins apart and have spoke to midwife, she advised me to stay at home and keep mobile. I am feeling the pain more in my back than in the abdominal area though. Silly people have advised paracetamol as well ohh dear sorry I have bad reaction to that. Next best suggestion is a bath and to call delivery suite if pain gets too intense, however will try my tens machine whilt I am here at home, know they won't let me use it there cause it is not an obstetric one but it might offer me some relief.

LadyLazarus · 12/09/2005 14:50

at you mummyhill!! Mine are still around, but seem to be easing off a bit. Have just been for a walk to try to get things going again. Good luck mummyhill!

beatie · 12/09/2005 15:26

Fingers crossed for you Mummyhill and Ladylazarus.

Kiwifruit - I have been entertaining myself with the cricket too but now DD is watching an Old Bear video so I am here. You can tell how bored I am this pregnancy as I never had an interest in cricket before this summer. It is particularly exciting though but alas, is doing nothing for me labour-wise.

mummyhill · 12/09/2005 15:27

I am paceing the livingroom floor DD thinks it is funny. My mum has just called to see how I am and is going to collect DD when she finishes work. The plan was that mum was going to look after her for the durration but she has now decided that she cannot have the time off and that DD can spend the day time with my BIL and has arranged this without consulting me. I am not a happy bunny, I cannot stand him neither can DH plus he does daft things which scare DD and instead of appologising and not doing it again he thinks it is funny to keep doing it. So I am half hoping to be able to say no leave her here.

jessysmummy · 12/09/2005 16:05

Mummyhill - don't think about the BIL scenario (assuming he has no children of his own). The anxiety could stop you in your tracks. Think postitve thoughts and hopefully baby will arrive today and DD will get to spend a nice evening with her gran before being dropped off back with you and DH again tomorrow morning before your mum goes to work...hey presto...no BIL!
PS don't forget to tell bump the plan!
Good luck x

Kiwifruit · 12/09/2005 16:12

Mummyhill and Ladyl - fingers crossed that this is 'it'!!

Have just done my hypnobirthing CD - think I am destined to never hear the end of it, as I always fall asleep !!

Went to the midwife, and baby is ROA, not engaged at all. More concerning was the fact that she is worried about my blood pressure again - 140/90, and my feet and fingers are very swollen. No protein in my urine though, and no headaches or flashing lights. Not sure what she was going to do, but managed to convince her that I'm feeling fine and she decided that she would let me go to my hospital midwife appointment on Thursday, and see me again next week. In the meantime I'm under strict instructions to RELAX. Think I can manage that...

beatie · 12/09/2005 16:18

Kiwifruit - did she take your BP more than once? With my first pregnancy mine was often elevated when the midwife took it and then it went down the second and third time in the duration of one appointment.

I hope your BP behaves itself.

LadyLazarus · 12/09/2005 16:20

KF - I agree with Beatie, my BP is often a little bit up at first, and then when they do it a second time it's normal.. probably nerves or something! The consultant told me it's normal for your BP to go up a bit at the end of pregnancy anyway.

Not sure what's going on with me here now - have given up trying to time cramps, and have excruciating back pain after going for a walk. Have just had a bit of a splurge on Amazon to cheer myself up! (but will I have time to read them all when the new arrival comes?!)
