Time for a new thread.

Hope the title will encourage the "reluctant" babes into the world.

Good luck to all who are due now/overdue

urrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Getting very upset and anxious. The longer I wait now the less sleep I'm getting and worrying I'll be too tired to labour!

Every night I get cramps that prevent a good sleep and remind me of whats to come. Every one says nearly there - but I do wonder!

Last week I was already for my due date - now as I go over and over the date I'm getting worse and worse.

Do you think - good hormones will kick in before the birth to keep me going or am I done for?

mummyhill · 16/09/2005 11:14

((hugs)) redhelen. I am begining to wonder if happy hormones will ever kick in for me as well. Feeling pretty exhausted and all the walking I am having to do at the moment (cause dh has to have the car incase I need to call him out of work) is no fun at all.

Just been to toddlers with dd and was getting really cheesed off with all the well meaning comments off all the other mums. I know I have to listen to them all over again at nursery after lunch as well.

Redhelen · 16/09/2005 11:38

Thanks Mummyhill

Just also heard I have group b strep - so need to find out about the antibiotics etc I need before deliver!

Oh fun!!

Take care xxxxxxxxxxx

PiccadillyCircus · 16/09/2005 11:43

DS has gone happily to cot so I am having some more mumsnetting .

Hope the Wiggles dancing did something for you beatie .

Redhelen, I have Group B Strep as well (or at least, I did have when DS was born and have been told I'll be treated as if I have it this time). I have to have antibiotics administered twice over a four hour period, so I have been told to go to hospital as soon as waters break or have proper contractions.

With DS, it wasn't discovered until after he was born (ie the results of my swab didn't come back until later) and apart from him being monitored for 48 hours, nothing happened.

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 12:11

Hello everyone just came back from midwifes appt, I have sweep booked in on the same day as my daughters birthday. Midlwife says it only takes half an hour, is this true?

Can i refuse to have one on that day, because I am having a party for my daughter? or do you think that they will say that it is too trivial a reason.

Am so confused

jessysmummy · 16/09/2005 12:32

Boompi - re: orange poo (and orange baby food). All I can say is best to soak/wash with strong washing powder/liquid as soon as possible after event then keep fingers crossed and hope that it comes out...good luck!
DIdn't get nearly as many comments as I thought from DD's class this am. Most said they thought that I still had a while to go as bump is quite small. Oh great, so bump will hang around a bit longer just to prove them right!
Was just settling down to some lunch and MNing/book reading with DD happily asleep when stupid Powergen woman (who could hardly speak english) phoned and woke up DD...very annoyed as now will have no time to myself all day and DD will be ratty by mid afternoon as not had enough sleep. Wayhay!
Nikkinoo - IME the sweep takes less than half an hour, providing they don't make you sit around and wait for ages. Then they just send you off on your merry way again. IN my case saying something along the lines of "I'll eat my hat if you're not back in again tonight" She was right but we didn't make her eat her headgear! If you don't want it on that day, try asking for it to be moved - you can only try. My brother was born on my second birthday and I've always felt that it's never really been my day.

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 12:40

BOOMPI try and get the stuff out on the line in the sunshine as that is a natural bleacher (bearing in mind if there is another sunny day for the next 8 months!)

Cheers Jessysmummy shall change the date to the following friday and then it will be only about twelve days over due date. Midwifes are always abit like oh it will be alright love, i suppose cos they deal wi this stuff everyday, but a sweep is a big deal to a wuss like me

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 12:41

Cabe all i wear these days are my mothercare dungees

jessysmummy · 16/09/2005 12:46

Nikkinoo - with any luck something will happen before then anyway!
Good luck Kiwikate with the BIG NIGHT! And if that fails, hope the midwife can encourage something to happen tomorrow

milward · 16/09/2005 12:48

Cabe - I've only got 2 skirts that fit me!! - plus a few tops as the others are too short. HAve a large cable cardi that I wore today as it was cold when going to school - covered up the too short top just fine!

Mummyhill - I had to walk lots when preg with dd1 & dd2. I found it helped me get back in shape afterwards quicker. With dd2 I only gained 12 kilos (with ds 4 have gained around 25 kilos now!) & I think it was to do with the 2 hr round trip to pick up dd1 from school.

Redhelen - I have group strep b - had it last time as well. Got the results this wednesday. I'll have antibiotics in labour. Given through a canula - so no drip. Last time I only had one dose as my labour was just 90 mins. DD3 had to have antibiotics after the birth for 3 days because of this.

HAve sored out the baby clothes - lovely. Now have time for a quick lunch, school pick-up schedule and the general running around I have to do when the kids are home from school.

Feel just like going to sleep this afternoon - but no chance!
Can't sleep well at night - back ache, wake up to turn over, go to the loo.... RedHelen I to wonder how I'll manage to give birth feeling like this!

Beatie - hope your little one will be born soon xxx My doc says she would wait 10 days of over due before inducing!!!

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 12:50

Yes that was the case with DD got date of induction and went into labour that very evening. Hope fate will intervene again.

Am taking daughter to the farm this afternoon gonna go on the bumpy tractor ride (Not too embarrased as friends work there and DP has a business over there) So they are not gonna think who is this crazy preggy woman going on a ride like this!!!

Cabe · 16/09/2005 12:54

Reassuring Nikkinoo... thanks
re sweep... Mine only took a few moments really last wednesday M/W talked me all the way through it so wasn't scared and tense... important to make it less uncomfortable... have had strong 'show' since and continuing tightenings but no sign of baby. You should be able to happily participate in your daughters celebrations after the sweep, they told me it has a 48 hour window in which it might work, hope this helps

Yippeee my sister's just rung and said she's going to spend the night here.. will bring Bill Bailey DVDs as 'inducers'!!! will inform all if this method works

Cabe · 16/09/2005 13:00

Nikkinoo... afraid I don't have to go on a bumpy ride for people to think 'who is this crazy preggy woman!!'

PiccadillyCircus · 16/09/2005 13:04

DS and I are going to a birthday party this afternoon. So I am sure I will get the full round of "still here yet" comments .

Maybe I will pretend the baby has arrived and it's just very shy and hiding under my top .

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 13:13

Ha Cabe- thought that about myself just as I typed it!. I have put on nearly 2.5 stones this pregnancy was doing well up until about a month ago when things went abit pear shaped (to def say the least)

Funny though only big on belly and my ass is flippin huge

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 13:15

PC - girl at my school had given birth and a mum came over to her and said ooh its awful carrying in this heat isnt it, the poor lass had already given birth!

PiccadillyCircus · 16/09/2005 13:24

Nikkinoo, I went through 2.5 stone a long time ago . Haven't weighed myself for a few days but I think the damage is between 4 and 4.5 stone.

With DS I put on 4.5 stone and it did all come off (and a bit more) so I am hoping that will happen again.

Cabe · 16/09/2005 13:25

PC - you've given me lovely visions of 'very shy baby' on the jumper retreat...
Yup Nikkinoo sounds about right, I've been likened to one of those Russian dolls (and not one of the little ones from in the middle!) all rosy cheeks and (whoa) just HUGE around the middle... not fair as with DD was only little in bump and bum areas

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 13:29

its always different isnit it. Tell u what tho with third round of breat feeding am seriously considering getting boobs done cos those puppies will be hanging round my knees this time.

Cabe · 16/09/2005 13:32

Ha ha... love it Nikkinoo! what an awsome thought!

nikkinoo · 16/09/2005 13:34

Right girls am going off to the farm, u never know its worth a shot!
take care everyone

andif · 16/09/2005 14:22

Still here. All labour signs have stopped.
Now have gas back on, so just had a long bath with clary sage, ate a pineapple and will have bounce on ball. Parents on hols tomorrow, so it will prob come then.

Re scientific experiments for inducing birth with food - we need to quiz all those who have delivered about what they were eating before it happened!

Dh working at home due to my severe depression so not much access to computer today. He had to field all the comments on the school run this morning, but quite enjoyed it!!!Even the kids are winding me up now about when will the baby come! AAGGHHHH

andif · 16/09/2005 14:22

Sorry, congrats to ych and family - not jealous really.........

zoezebra · 16/09/2005 15:17

Congratulations to YCH and family .
Off to do colouring with DD whilst Jasper is asleep. Feeling a guilt thing at the moment...torn between spending time doing activities with DD rather than just switching on the T.V vs interacting with Jasper rather than just putting him back down in his moses basket after each feed.
Hope to strike a balance soon, but it seems really hard at the moment.
At least its nearly the weekend and DH will be around to help.

beatie · 16/09/2005 15:30

Annoying midwives.

My midwife is on the labour ward all day so said her colleague would ring me to come and do sweep. She never rang and my midwife never returned my messages when I followed it up. So, I planned to go to my SIL's today. I left at 10.30am and got back just now to find a note from the other midwife saying she called by twice! I listened to a phone message from her at 11am! Argh!

So, now I am not sure if my midwife will still come round after her day on the labour ward to do the sweep. She said she would if her colleague could not do it. I've left her a voicemail. Otherwise we're talking about Monday now. Have to say, I did not like the sound of the other midwife on the telephone message so perhaps it is for the best I wasn't in. Still, it's annoying. Like I could wait in all day on the off chance she was going to turn up without having telephoned first.
