Time for a new thread.

Hope the title will encourage the "reluctant" babes into the world.

Good luck to all who are due now/overdue

Re bedding for hammock - I have 2 of the special fitted sheets but have covered them with little flannel sheets so that I can easily wash after little vomits!
Cant believe how much laundry a wee person can make. Any tips for getting out that tumeric like stain from baby poo by the way?

Boompi · 15/09/2005 23:41

Ah congrats ych!!!

Redhelen · 16/09/2005 00:23

congratulations ych - excellent news .

Very envious

Little sign of the cramps now - back to bed!!

KiwiKate · 16/09/2005 05:13

Congrats YCH

Did an early vote today for tomorrow's general election here in NZ. Hopefully this will enable me to relax enough to have this baby tonight. Baby seems to be deeper engaged (which I didn't think was possible!)

Hello Kiwikate - good luck! Perhaps we can both get our babys this evening??

Cramps bad - going to try to sleep- hope they don't fizzle out again! DH gone to work coming back at 8 to get ds to school.

beatie · 16/09/2005 07:34

DH tld me last night "I think it might happen tonight!" Well, he lied to me and it didn't!

I'm getting seriously low about having not had the baby yet. Feeling like my body is failing me. What's the matter with me?! It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't had such a dreadful pregnancy.

Let's hope my sweep gets things moving quickly. I really wanted to have the baby today. DH isn't able to take a lot of paternity leave so it would be nice to have the weekend in hospital and then have him take the whole of next week off. If the baby waits, I'm going to be in hospital at the beginning of the week and DH will be expected back at work the following Monday.

I had one big cramp all day yesterday then a few contractions hourly in the evening. I woke up at 1 and then 2 am with a contraction, like the night before and that was it. Slept soundly until 7am

Sorry to be so down but I'm a week overdue now.

Cabe · 16/09/2005 07:38

Congratulations Ych.... Ahh a boy like I'm hoping for - not completely outnumbered by all these prettily named girl babies then.
Take Care
Cabe

beatie · 16/09/2005 07:44

Sorry - I forgot to say congratulations to ych.

Many congratulations to you. I really like the name Joel too. Another name we had to rule out as it doesn't go with our surname.

Cabe · 16/09/2005 07:50

Oh Beatie
You mustn't feel like a failure... you can't help being too comfy for bubs to want to let go!
I felt much more down about being overdue yesterday... don't feel any nearer to event today but it simply can't last forever.
Mmm the Met don't take paternity leave very seriously either, DP has to be in for meetings mid-week and in every day from 26th... this considering he booked 4 weeks!!!
COME ON BABIES!

mummyhill · 16/09/2005 08:06

Congratulations YCH and welcome to Joel.

((Hugs)) Beatie I feel like my body is failing me too 10 days over and still all quiet on the baby front. Hope your sweep has the desired effect I will just have to wait and see if i can go in any earlier otherwise nothing for me till wednaesday (still seems like an eternity away).

Slept well last night and am now negotiating an hour at toddlers followed by home for lunch and then up to nursery. I will then have to collect the prescriptions from GP, went to do it yesterday but when I got there the surgery was closed. At least I don't have to walk to fetch her from nursery today because Nanny fetches her and keeps hold of her till DH finishes work tonight.

Redhelen · 16/09/2005 08:06

Beatie - so sorry things are slow - think I've stopped again!

Fell into a deep sleep at about 6am woke at 7.15 with dear son yelling at me that the post man was the door - and the pains were much reduced! urrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

RedZuleika · 16/09/2005 08:15

For the record...

...chocolate chip fairy cakes don't work either.

Congratulations ych!

beatie · 16/09/2005 08:21

I'm going to try chocolate crispie cakes today. Perhaps the cereal content will help

RedZuleika · 16/09/2005 08:33

Maybe we're on the wrong track? Perhaps a breakfast bacon sandwich will work. Yum.

LadyLazarus · 16/09/2005 08:33

well done ych + helenemjay!
hope everyone still waiting is hanging in there! i had my first wobbly 'i can't do this' teary moment last night, just felt totally useless! i think because Elise is finding the feeding hard, she diesn't want to feed v.often, + i feel a bit redundant sometimes. she won't sleep in the cot either (but will sleep anywhere else!), so last night we took her in with us + i feel like a new woman! have much more energy today so far.

anyway, must pop off again now... thinking of you all who still have yet to 'pop'! xxx

jessysmummy · 16/09/2005 08:36

CONGRATULATIONS Ych and Family. Joel is a lovely name.
Ok, we've been waiting 9 months for September and it's already half way through with so many of us still here...waiting. Have decided that if I make loads of plans then bump will surprise me and wreck them all so making dates with friends and planning days out with DD right, left and centre. Judging from your packed day, Mummyhill, you've got the same idea.
Back to DD's "Musical Minis" class this morning after the summer break. Sure there'll be loads of comments about not having had the baby yet. Not looking forward to running around after DD while she reaquaints herself with the other girls and boys but like I say, it's all part of my plan!
DH suggested last night that I start sitting on a plastic bin liner...just in case my waters broke. He managed to convince me that he was only joking before I threw anything at him!

beatie · 16/09/2005 08:39

Oh no RZ - please do not say the great chocolate induction experiment is over with already

PiccadillyCircus · 16/09/2005 08:43

Congratulations ych .

Right then baby, today is your due date. So you should arrive today .

Apart from a little more on the jelly like discharge front, nothing else. So just possibly bbay won't come today.

DS is watching one of his Thomas DVDs for the 70 millionth time. As he only has two at the moment I think I need him to have some more (we do other exciting things together but I think a bit of Thomas on my due date is OK )

beatie · 16/09/2005 08:52

I'm thinking of putting the Wiggles DVD on and dancing along to it in the hope that the activity does something. Now that's desperation for you.

PiccadillyCircus · 16/09/2005 08:56

I have a lovely picture in my head of the dancing beatie .

beatie · 16/09/2005 09:02

Oh no, it's not a pretty one. You'd want to get that out of your head right away!

milward · 16/09/2005 09:42

Many congrats ych xxx

LAdyL - I have co-slept and it saved me as my dds never slept in their cot but would sleep in our bed. Plus could bf & sleep at the same time. Hope all is going well for you.

I'm huge & waiting for the 24th. At school keep getting comments about how am I managing etc. One mum asked if it would be a good idea for me to ask for an induction!!! No I replied!

Feel exhausted today after the birthday preparations yesterday. Plus all the clearing out I did. Have loads for charity which is good. Today I have to sort out all the baby clothes I've been leant by my sil. Was going to do this yesterday but just ran out of time.

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

RedZuleika · 16/09/2005 09:47

Beatie: well - I don't really have a sweet tooth - so I felt it wise not to narrow the options...

One bacon sandwich (three rashers, granary bread, brown sauce) cheerfully consumed.

Cabe · 16/09/2005 09:59

RZ - well if we're going to include savoury items in the experiment my surfeit of home-made (extremely luscious) pizza with feta stuffed olives hasn't budged anything so we can safely say Pizza - however extravagant doesn't work!

Oh and if we're going to get on the subject of being huge... how's this for depressing, I've found I've grown out of my maternity clothes apart from 3 items These were in the wash yesterday so I looked like a victim of a charity shop blindfold raid all day! doesn't do the self esteem any good... damned glad DP wasn't about to witness it!

KiwiKate · 16/09/2005 10:28

MW has suggested the following for tonight. DH to eat oysters. Then sex tonight (which has brought on contractions each time for the past couple of weeks). Then Caulophyllum 200c (4 drops every 15 minutes for an hour). Apparently this homeopathic remedy is great for making "on again, off again" contractions really take hold.

If no progress by tomorrow, then she will do a sweep at midday.

Of course, it is not assured that anything will happen, but it is good to know that at least the MW is taking some action to help.

Unlike you STM, I'm desperate to avoid an induction. The increased risks of further intervention scares me.
