Time for a new thread.

Hope the title will encourage the "reluctant" babes into the world.

Good luck to all who are due now/overdue

STM, if weeping is meant to bring on labour, mia should of been born at least 6 weeks early. lol
i've been weeping all of today too, must be my hormones.

beatie · 15/09/2005 14:39

In the interests of scientific research, I should share with you all that Minstrels is not a successful labour inducer either. So that twixes, Milky Ways and Minstrels I have tested. What should I test tomorrow?

I went to the supermarket after picking DD up from Pre-school. I walked quite a bit for me, but it hasn't caused labour pains to arise, just those 'too much walking' pains!

I officially should be kept inside the house as I managed to get lost twice. The only good thing was I found myself driving down two roads with speed bumps, so I had a good old drive over those

I've realised one advantage of baby being late. DD has now had two weeks ta her new Pre-school and seems happy and settled. At least I don't have to worry about her feeling abandoned, like she may have done had baby's arrival coincided with her first week.

singleteenagemum · 15/09/2005 14:52

Beatie - have mars bar n mug of hot chocolate in front of me now....sitting on ball...whilst sucking the mars bar dipped in hot chocolate baby's moving lots and digging down....so maybe this scientific research is paying off.....

RedZuleika · 15/09/2005 14:53

In the further interests of scientific research, I will shortly be testing the efficacy of chocolate chip fairy cakes.

Odd - because I'm not usually a chocolate person.

singleteenagemum · 15/09/2005 14:58

let us know RZ...i could bake some this afternoon if it does

beatie · 15/09/2005 15:17

How do you upset a heavily pregnant woman?

beatie · 15/09/2005 15:19

Aside from depriving her of chocolate......

Well, tell her she's going to have a membrane sweep on Friday morning and then not bother to phone her and arrange it. Hmphf!

My midwife is on the labour ward tomorrow so she made herself a note to get one of the other midwives to call me to arrange a sweep for Friday morning. She hasn't called. I've tried calling and left messages and no-one has got back to me. My midwife said that if no-one else could come and see me, she'd do it on her way back from the labour ward at 8pm.

It suddenly seems like the worst thing in the world to have to wait an extra 10 or 11 hours for that membrane sweep.

mummyhill · 15/09/2005 16:09

No beatie the best way to upset a pregnant woman is to tell her that you can't fit her in for an induction till she is 15 days overdue. I cried buckets.

beatie · 15/09/2005 16:25

Yes - you're right - that's worse. That IS a long time to wait. I hope you go on your own before then or get that much needed space. Where are you located?

mummyhill · 15/09/2005 16:30

Birmingham.

Redhelen · 15/09/2005 16:37

Will I every be normal again? - wear normal shoes , normal clothes - look human? -HAVE THIS BABY?!!

Really feeling for you diane77, beatie and Mummyhill as your later than me!

Diane77 - are you being induced today? Hope alls running smoothly and baby on the way!!

Still cramping - going for a walk to shake things up a bit!!

singleteenagemum · 15/09/2005 16:41

Sounds like a good idea RH - will be doing the same myself later...take the dog for a VERY long walk...up some hills i think

nikkinoo · 15/09/2005 16:57

Boompi - just bought a raw cotton hamby, so it should be here by mon/ tues. I got moses basket second hand so not too guilty about the price of it. Cheers for the advice from the thread.

andif · 15/09/2005 17:26

How to upset a pregnant woman? I could give you a very long list, but the best today has been "You seem to have been pregnant for ages" twice.
Cramps back after walk to school. Trying shortbread for induction research....

jessysmummy · 15/09/2005 17:59

Have decided to also do my bit for medical research - we can tick mini double choc chip muffins off the list of foods suitable for induction (hope this does not also apply to chip chip fairy cakes, RZ!) Also Danish pastries.
Andif - what a time to lose your gas. Hope it's not as chilly there as it is here. Do you have a good neighbour that would let you have a soak if you needed to?
RedHelen - you WILL be normal again...just covered in baby puke!
Mummyhill - sending labour vibes to you and every other overdue pregnant woman in Birmingham in the hope that at least one will give birth before their induction appt and bump you up the queue. 15 days is indeed a long time to go over.
Have just returned from pg yoga class - everyone saying "Suppose we won't see you next week as you'll probably have new baby" Have a feeling they will...

Katts · 15/09/2005 18:12

Congratulations Lady L! Love the name, I should do, it's my middle name.

Can't remember who asked about bedding for the Amby Hammock, but they make special sheets for it which look pretty necessary since the mattress is longer than a moses basket and not as wide as a cot mattress. Of course I haven't actually used mine yet.

BTW shortbread doesn't work.

Trying lots of squatting today on the advice of my midwife friend. Sheer agony!

zoezebra · 15/09/2005 19:02

Just checked in....a quiet moment in the house (a rarity).
Congratulations LL - another baby, another beautiful name .
We have all picked such gorgeous names and hardly anyone has picked the same which is unusual.
Am sure there will be a flurry of babies very soon, too many overduers. (((hugs))) to all those feeling rotten and rubbish. They say that this is a sign that you are about to drop, thinking of you all and hope that there is some more good news soon.

beatie · 15/09/2005 19:55

I have had cramping most of the day too Andif and Redhelen. I hope it really IS a sign of imminent labour.

Redhelen · 15/09/2005 20:37

Good luck fellow crampers!

Still cramps - did housework and walk to try and get them going - but they are no worse no better!

Don't feel positive that this is it!

Take care

Helen

Sorry about outburst last night . Think I was just all hot and bothered after feeling like I was battling with DS, who I do love very much .

Today was much better (except he had no daytime sleep, which is very unusual for him. Hopefully this was a one-off). And bedtime was much calmer as well.

Congratulations LL and a lovely name too .

Seeing as my due date is in just over 3 hours I think it is unlikely this baby will be early. And I am sure that tomorrow people will make all the usual remarks.

Was glad I was on the internet last night (and that we don't have broadband yet) as MIL left a message on the phone saying she had heard the baby was still comfy in there and I could phone if I wanted. Glad I didn't feel the need to as there really wouldn't be much to say. So far, my mum is being the best ie hasn't been bombarding me at all with inane questions.

Seeing as there are

Redhelen · 15/09/2005 21:57

Good night!

Lets hope we can get comfortable! and get some good sleep - or alternatively have a baby!!!

Take care

mummyhill · 15/09/2005 22:21

If i wasn't waiting to see if the hospital are going to call me in early I would switch off the mobile and unplug the phone and only talk to my best mate who is up in Haydock via the interweb thingy (as my nan puts it). I have had about ten texts and three calls on the mobile from people who couldn't get me at home this evening cause I have been up to mums for tea.

mummyhill · 15/09/2005 22:30

Although on saying that they would probably turn up on the doorstep instead.

ych · 15/09/2005 22:47

Hi all, not had a chance to read all the postings but just wanted you to know that baby Joel was born on Tuesday at 11.09am, 4 days early, weighing 6lbs 6oz. I just got home from the maternity hospital today. Can't believe he's here, he's lying in his moses basket making cute little noises! Didn't get the water birth I was hoping for as he had turned and was back to back, in the end had a long labour and a forceps delivery . Will fill you in on gory details when I have more time. I'm fine though, just a bit tired.
Good luck to everyone else about to pop! x

Cabe · 15/09/2005 22:49

Goodnight All
