The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

angels How organised are you being?! I am getting all excited about christmas now, even tho DH and I will be frugal as this baby is costing us a fortune!

Didnt get to ring my GP today, been at work from 7.30am-6pm and am totally shattered now and still sore in the bladder! Got a load of books to mark tonight too, but i might just leave them unmarked Blush. Will try and ring MW tomorrow tho so will let u know how I get on.

Congratulations on all the scans everyone!

ledkr · 04/10/2010 19:17

suzy will you please go to the Dr :o

Congrats on scans ladies.
I know what you mean about the unexpected pg. I met dh years after messy divorce and bringing up my 4 on my own for ages. It really was love at first sight(corny sorry)we were never apart after,i told him i couldnt have more children-age and chemo, and we aggreed it would be ok but secretly i felt so sad and guilty he was sacrificing having his own child, then 4 years later this. I am so grateful and just cant believe our luck.

I was glad to read yeaterday thatsome of you are very tired, after my brief glow i am back to the land of fatigue. I have booked someone to come and do a bit of cleaning now,i thought well im working so may as well make life a bit easier esp with spd, i am probably saving a fortune on wine anyway haha

tadjennyp · 04/10/2010 19:19

I don't think your students will mind if you don't mark their books for a change suzy. Congratulations on all the scans!

worrymummy · 04/10/2010 19:31

Congrats on the scans all! bensmum its fab having 2 boys!
Glad you have got off the subject of xmas, its making me stressed! have all the family birthdays before that!
ledk i am glad you have got a cleaner, its so worth it. How lovely that you are having another baby against the odds.
and I agree suzy get to the doc/mw the books can wait! you'll only get more exhausted and if you are suspecting a UTI that can go to the kidneys if untreated, well that's what happened to me, and its not nice.

brockleyD · 04/10/2010 20:49

Sorry for lack of contact, being trying not to use MN to much as makes me anxious when I read sad stories.

had my 20 week scan today, all good and its a girl! Feels strange as I think I imagined it would be a boy because of all the kicking she has been doing!

Hope you are all well!

D

DrMouse · 04/10/2010 21:01

Hi All,

Have been doing lots of lurking and enjoying everyones stories from their scans.

I had mine last week and it's (probably) a girl. Not bought anything pink yet but starting to feel a bit more real now. Very excited but getting more scared about the birth.

Hope everyone keeps glowing!

zerominuszero · 04/10/2010 21:19

Well done everyone on the scans and knowing if you've got a boy or a girl. I am counting down the milliseconds until I find out...

Regarding the whole nappy thing, my point was more that they would not let you leave until you showed that you could. A bit Stalinist, I thought. Anyway.

I'm very happy to see so many people planning on making Christmas presents. I think it's a really good idea. We have spent a lot of money in the past buying expensive presents and have this year decided to cook biscuits for everyone. But the thing is, now that I think about it, I reckon this "budget" present may well go down much better than our shop bought presents. So it's a bit of a win win.

Anyone else who is going to make/cook Christmas presents out there who hasn't spoken out yet, want to reveal themselves?

Wanderingsheep · 04/10/2010 21:55

Hi everyone! I haven't had chance to read the thread since last time I posted so apologies for not giving individual replies!

Congratulations to those of you who have had your 20 week scans! Mine is on Thursday and I'm counting down the minutes Eeeep!

Good luck to anyone who has any scans/tests etc tomorrow!

grigglepuff · 04/10/2010 22:20

zero I was planning to knit pressies for everyone again this year but can't be bothered I might do some gingerbread biccies but nothing too extravagant this time. I am too busy trying to knit things for the littlun and not even achieving that at the moment. In fact achieving very little all round - not crossed off any of the jobs that need doing before Feb. I'm hoping that crazy lady nesting will set in soon!

Also I'm trying not to moan too much but have had really horrible aches at the top of my thighs - around where they meet the pelvis area...fine when sitting but achey and sore when walking and standing (thinking this might be this whole SPD thing everyones on about!- wishing I hadn't glossed over those conversations now Blush )
A friend has offered her bouncy ball - anyone know if this will help? x

grigglepuff · 04/10/2010 22:24

Also congrats on all the scans - and good luck those with upcoming scans! :)

earlgreyismynectar · 04/10/2010 22:48

Hi all & congrats on all of the scan results! It's lovely and so exciting to find out the sex! That choice has been taken from me in this NHS area so I'd have to pay to find out & unfortunately there are other things to spend £200 on! Still, it was a surprise with DD1 so I'm quite happy to go with the surprise element again! I hope you're all feeling good and glowing!

Yes grigglepuff, sounds v like SPD to me, it can effect entire pelvic area / pubic bone area & tops of legs I find. Comes & goes with me but is a daily thing just now. I think a ball def would help, funny, I was thinking same today at work as I found myself in a meeting most comfortable sitting forward on the chair, back straight with legs apart!!! I thought, yup time to root out the ball & re-inflate! I'm sorry Ledkr, it sounds like yours is so much worse, I do hope it passes or you find a way to at least manage the pain.

SuzyM I hope you're feeling better soon, it must be exhausting, always has a knock on effect on energy levels when something out of sync with the body. I'm generally sleeping a lot just now despite apparently "blooming" so I'll probably be a wreck by the end if this pregnancy!

I'm kicking off TOILET PAPER TUESDAY! an hour early as I'm working tomorrow and may not get on! I am SEVEN AND A HALF wide at my widest point which is just a touch below belly button (which is rapidly becoming an "outy" again). I don't know what brand paper it is as DP bought it. I have to say I feel SO much bigger at this stage than I did with DD but I suppose that's the case with number 2! I have expanded rapidly in the last 2 weeks as a pair of jeans which fastened then aren't even close to fastening now! Out with the bump bands! What a brilliant invention! Didn't have these last time!

Good luck with upcoming scans those of you who are waiting!

Grannyapple · 04/10/2010 23:23

I'll join u early I'm 8 sections wide :o

NeedToSleepZZZ · 05/10/2010 01:37

Can't sleep as too nervous and excited about scan in the morning so thought I'd join in with TOILET PAPER TUESDAY,

I'm seven and a half too, at my widest point which is just below my belly button, same as earlgrey. That's using Andrex (I think), little piece of advice though, don't hold up the paper after to see how big that is or you'll get depressed Wink

Back to my nervous knitting....

suzym1984 · 05/10/2010 07:19

Just a quick message before I head off to work to remind you all that asda baby and toddler event starts today!!! So go and grab bargains!!

janedoe25 · 05/10/2010 07:23

I also have my scan today, im sooooooo tired didnt sleep a wink!

Griiglepuff I have the exact same pain, it has been getting worse over the last week. I feel it on my left bum cheek too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Oh good luck with ur scan needtosleep and i will do toilet paper tuesday later (dont think my OH would be pleased if i used the last of it to mesure bump!)

angels1 · 05/10/2010 07:42

good luck to those with scans today.

Well, my bump is bigger than yours!! I have a 2 pin plug shaped body at the best of times (so bear in mind my tummy would measure more loo rolls in the first place than lots of you Sad Blush ) and my tum measures 9.5 loo sheets (coughs loudly, probably closer to 10, ahem) Blush .

Wanderingsheep · 05/10/2010 09:00

Good luck for the scans today! Smile

My bump also measures 7 and a half sections of toilet paper. Am I doing it right - around the biggest part of my bump like I would if I was measuring my waist with a tape measure usually?

I feel a bit better about my bump these past few days, its more bump like and less blimp like!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 05/10/2010 09:05

I might make/cook Christmas presents. If you'd asked me two months ago I'd have said that I definitely would, but as the time approaches my energy and enthusiasm levels are dropping off...

angels1 · 05/10/2010 09:14

If anyone is contemplating making christmas gifts and has a bread maker - lots of them do jam making too - so easy - you just shove the fruit/sugar in, click the jam settings and in an hour or so you have a jar of jam or two done - a very lazy but still good option Grin

Will those with bigger tumnmys please let their toilet roll measurement known so I don't feel quite so heffer-like Confused ?

Spoke to MIL last night and she was busy haning out lots of unwanted very useful baby related advice. She claims I NEED a nappy bin - I beg to differ - anyone??

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 05/10/2010 09:24

You definitely don't need a nappy bin. Unless you are using washable nappies, in which case you definitely do.

Am not measuring my tummy as I suspect my pre-pregnancy measurement would be quite huge enough for many of you at full term. And now... I went into the library to renew my books and pay my (huge Blush) library fine yesterday and the library assistant clearly thought it was likely that I was due around the same time as the books (in four weeks). So I just smiled and didn't disillusion her...

grigglepuff · 05/10/2010 09:27

janedoe yes also have a pain in my bum too! Glamourous this pregnancy lark :)

At least I know that it could be SPD cheers earlgrey (also my nectar...mmm tea)

I wish I'd stop being so blasé/ pigheaded about everything and take peoples offers of things- bouncy balls, seats on the tube etc.

Toilet Paper Tuesday- 7.5 too ( angels this is before I've eaten anything so I feel like it's cheating anyway!! )

Tarlia · 05/10/2010 09:28

Good morning all, had a quick read, wow you were chatty this weekend!! I'm impressed by all the creative Christmas gifts.

My bump measures 8.5, though I was half asleep when I measured so will confirm later. The measuring is making me feel much better already as I was feeling like an elephant!

angels I agree, not needed, they stink (especially bad in summer or hot heated homes) and the refills cost a fortune. Much nicer to stick nappies straight outside if possible.

angels1 · 05/10/2010 09:28

as far as MIL aware prof, we're using the disposables (am considering washable but with no tumble dryer and in winter things taking ages to dry and making the house look like a laundrette am thinking start with disposables and see how it goes).

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 05/10/2010 09:34

If you do do washable, then, get something like Fuzzi Bunz or other pocket nappy and use cheap microfibre cleaning cloths (e.g. Tesco value range) to stuff them with. Then you take them apart to wash and because each component is so thin (and microfibre dries v quickly anyway) they air dry in no time.

byronicheroine · 05/10/2010 09:39

Morning all, TOILET PAPER TUESDAY off to a good start, my bump is 9 sheets (not sure of brand, am at work - in the toilet so long checking it was really 9 that someone knocked on the door!)
All good here, we've had visitors for what seems like forever (although most of them were lovely) so I've booked a weekend of sleeping, eating and maybe an IKEA trip - more big pillows needed to facilitate the sleeping part, and cheap meatballs and chocolate cake for the eating bit!
