The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

OP posts:

Aw i hope baby is most definetly still a girl then!! Your dh sounds like my ds! He keeps saying mummy are you sure theres a baby you dont have a very big tummy!

My lovely little bundle kept his/her legs firmly closed at 20 weeks so i hae had to wait another 8 weeks. I want a 4d scan for a wee sneak peek too :) cant imagine who this baby will look more like.

Yes you were and you gave me some pretty good advice not that any of it worked :( still having a pretty crap time with it all. But have decided to take the route of no contact at the moment as it means i get less (not by much though) upset.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyZombieSlave · 27/10/2010 19:57

Holiday (at Mumsnet favourite Bosinver was fab. But my extended family (siblings) are having unrelated but major crises this week, so am back up to pre-holiday stress levels. And spent 8 hours driving today for the sake of 1 hour's faintly productive work, so am in Bad Mood.

On the plus side, only 5 weeks to start of leave! Bwahahahahaha....

ledkr · 27/10/2010 20:16

poor you sc stick around ill give you moral support i have a phd in bastards and being left to raise the children they made with me. It makes you atough old bird tho. I am remarried to a gem- so far - but have my own house, bank account, pension etc.Pays to be wise my girl.haha
I had dd alone from 8 months which i know is not as bad as being pg and having new baby alone but i must say i found it easier to do it all myself than row with him about him not doing it.You will be just fine,

ScMacBt · 27/10/2010 20:42

Thanks ledkr Whats worse is im more angry at fact he used to go on and on about ds's tosspot father who doesnt see him and how he can never understand how someone would do that. I think he is planning on hating me until baby comes then playing daddy. Its been about 6 weeks since we last spoke due to the fact that i got extremely upset and it caused a mini mental breakdown. I did it with ds from start on my own so im pretty confident (worried face) that i'll cope maybe. He seems to be blaming me for everyting although nohing in his life has changed at all. He still hasnt told his parents and doesnt plan to! Plus still loving him and being a hormonal person doesnt help ha!!

I think your very wise with the own house etc :) You def seem to have your head on the right way when it comes to men Grin. I would never ever move in with someone again and give up my own space.

zerominuszero · 27/10/2010 20:47

Prof Bosinver looks amazing, I wish I'd known about them at the start of the year. Bah.

strathanna · 27/10/2010 22:29

Am very jealous of the going back to bed.

Taking the sellotape off is fine - I'm naturally pretty hairy anyway.

No idea what I did with my time before having Ava - I can't wait for the new baby, but hope that it's not too knackering working full time plus having two smallies!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyZombieSlave · 27/10/2010 22:37

Oooh, 2009 name statistics are out (final tab on each sheet gives totals for each name in England and Wales, not just top 100).

(Scottish figures for 2009 came out last December so presumably figures for 2010 will be out this December)

strathanna · 27/10/2010 22:46

Ooh - my daughter's name, Ava is up to no 12! When we called her Ava in 2006 there were no other Ava's...

SlaughteredSheep · 27/10/2010 22:58

Ooh, I've been looking at the top names of 2009. DD's name, if you add up all the different spellings, was actually more popular than Ruby last year. It's strange as she's the only one in her pre-school but there are two Rubys, although I guess they weren't born last year [hgrin]. The name that we have chosen for this 2nd DD is in the top 20 but I don't mind [hsmile].

strathanna · 27/10/2010 23:03

We've not got a definite girls name, but a few of our list (of about 30) are in the top 20 - and the top 10! Our boys name seems to be a bit more unusual tho - Nye.

zerominuszero · 28/10/2010 06:57

Our likely name is #35.... that's not too bad, I would have been annoyed if it had been in the top ten or maybe twenty. Though I'm not sure if I know anyone else called Sophia.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyZombieSlave · 28/10/2010 07:49

Interesting that Sophia makes the London top 10, though -- there are nearly as many Sophias as Sophies in the capital. In fact the variations by region and month are fascinating in general.

ledkr · 28/10/2010 09:32

Changed your name prof?Did you name it after the ds game?
Very breathless again this morning. Its really bad.Thought it was better. I am unsure i will be able to go to wor like it although was ging to go back Monday. Will see how it is. There was me worrying about spd and this is worse.
Anyone else ever had this?

zerominuszero · 28/10/2010 10:38

Sorry to hear that ledkr. I'm not much help as breathlessness is the one thing I haven't had yet. Have you spoken to the midwife about it before? What did they say about it?

zerominuszero · 28/10/2010 10:38

NeedToSleepZZZ · 28/10/2010 10:54

Morning all,

ledkr, think it would be wise to make another appt with your gp. Are you getting breathless through exertion or is it when you're sitting down/ relaxing? I've had a bit of breathlessness when walking up the mountain hill to my house but that's all, still annoys me though.

strathanna, where did you get the name Nye from? I like it (don't worry, we're all set on Benjamin here so won't be stealing it! Grin ) and it's really unusual.

prof it's good to have you back! glad you had a good holiday but doesn't sound great about your family. Hope everything gets resolved soon and your stress levels come back down to earth.

Having a big housework day again, think the nesting thing is already happening. HAD to get all the bits we've been given and bought for baby out and separate them into age groups and categories, why??? Confused Feel much better now though Wink

americanexpat · 28/10/2010 11:29

ledkr - I had a bit of breathlessness during 1st trimester but it went away and certainly wasn't as bad as yours. Are you due to have more testing soon?

The baby was very quiet yesterday, not moving much, and just when I started to get worried, he gave me a sharp kick in the cervix. He seems to be making up for lost time today too.

Any opinions on Mamas & Papas prams in general? Someone at work is selling a 2nd hand M&P pram for £20, I don't have many details at the moment. Seems like a fab bargain but I'm not sure what to look for.

ScMacBt · 28/10/2010 11:43

americanexpat iv just bought a mamas and papas and also thats what i had with ds. They are very good prams imo. Love mine to bits dying to see dc in it. If you find out what kind it is i may be abe to help you a bit more. But at £20 thats a very amazing bargain!!

angels1 · 28/10/2010 11:45

ledkr I've been getting breathless too but nothing to you - did it get better a bit and then worse? If so, might be an idea to ring mw to check. I do get breathless very easily - just walking at a normal pace up the road or up the stairs is enough for me to feel a little 'phew', but not when I'm stationary or take things slow. Oh, and I shall be thinking of you tomorrow at your scan - I have a gender scan on saturday (hopefully this shy baby will be made to move to show their bits [hwink] ) and apparently they will give me a 3d photo too [hgrin]

americanexpat £20 for a pram? Sounds like a bargain (and so cheap it wouldn't matter if it isn't great). Is it a pram or travel system or pushchair? Not sure what to check on a pram really, other than that the wheels work without a big squeak or bump and the pram isn't too musty/dirty. But I'm sure I'm stating the obvious [hwink]

We found out we are having a free quinny buzz pushchair from BIL (apparently it's on its last legs though) but am thoroughly excited as we already brought second hand a quinny speedi and all the accesories second hand, so am hoping the pram etc attachment works on the buzz as well as the speedi, and the buzz will fit alot easier in my car for quick trips out and about :)

Well, my painful sensitive teeth have got no better in the past month so I've bitten the bullet (so to speak) and am seeing the dentist this afternoon - am very very Confused though.

needtosleep be careful not to do too much on the housework front!

Baby stats prof make for very interesting reading.
